Christina Radcliffe
HERRIN -- Christina Radcliffe, 91, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Fountains Nursing Home in Marion. Christina was born on Oct. 20, 1911, on the family farm in Carterville to Lindsey and Nellie (Ellington) Radcliffe. Until her retirement, she worked for 45 years as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell in Chicago. Miss Radcliffe was a member of Herrin First Baptist Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading historical literature. Survivors include two nieces and their husbands, Carolyn and Jerry Kirk of Herrin and Kay and Jim Skinner of Baton Rouge, La.; and one great-nephew, Jeff Skinner of Baton Rouge, La. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Zella Collard, Mabel Radcliffe, Ophia Williams, Evelyn Propes and Ailene Brown; one infant brother, Ernest Radcliffe; and one great-niece, Cindy Sue Kirk. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Paul Tirey officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for First Baptist Church Lighting Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Fairiee Adams
MARION -- Fairiee Adams, 93, died at 9:20 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, in Fountain Nursing Home in Marion. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Busby Chapel Church in Goreville. Burial will be in Busby Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. today in the church. Memorials may be made to Busby Cemetery, c/o Jim Dunn, 295 Dunn Lane, Goreville, IL 62939 and envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna is in charge of arrangements.

Emmett J. Moll
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -- Emmett J. Moll, 78, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Franklin, Wis. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret. He was the dearest father of Betsy and Bill Rezel, Joseph and Claudia, Michael and Joanne, and Richard and Sandra, and the loving grandfather of Sara, Beth, Eric, Jesse, Valerie, Pauline and Madeline. He was the brother of Robert and Vivian and James and Arlene. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be at 9:20 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for the Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Private entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 6 p.m. in Bruskiewitz Forest Lane Chapel. Mr. Moll was a member of the Wisconsin Association of School Board Officials and the Council of Educational Facility Planners International. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Marge Moll Memorial Scholarship, c/o Girl Scouts of Milwaukee Area Inc., 131 S. 69th St., P. O. Box 14999, Milwaukee, WI 53214-0999.

Gemma Fiori
WEST FRANKFORT -- Gemma Fiori, 93, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Services will be at 8 p.m. today in Union Funeral Home, with the Rev. Victor Long officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Private interment services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes, American Heart Association or Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home. She was born May 6, 1910, in Italy, to Gabriel and Francesca Galozzi Gandolfi. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rina and Glenn Clarida of Marion; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sandra Fiori of West Frankfort; four grandchildren, Andy Fiori, Deborah Saathoff, and Daryl and Doug Clarida; and four great-grandchildren, Austin and Kathryn Saathoff and Douglas and Andrew Clarida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester on Jan. 21, 1983, her parents and a brother, Geno.

Lillian S. Davis
HERRIN -- Lillian S. Davis, 83, passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Oak Grove Rehab Center in Carbondale. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Van Natta Funeral Home. Interment will be in HillCrest Cemetery in Carterville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. today. Lillian was born March 22, 1920, in Clifford, to Thornton and Ethel Casey Stacy. She married Elgin Davis and he precedes Lillian in death. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and two sisters. Survivors include, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Marea Upchurch and Charles and Annalee Upchurch, all of Herrin, and Kenneth and Wanda Upchurch of Johnston City; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Virginia and Bob Rossin of Herrin and Clara Ann Burnette of LaGrange; three aunts and many nieces and nephews.

Wendell Colboth
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -- Wendell Earl Colboth, 70, of Troy, Mo., passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, in Troy. Wendell was born March 17, 1933, to Earl and Marie (Mounce) Colboth. He was united in marriage to Ruth Windman Oct. 14, 1972. Survivors include his wife; his father; three sons, Ernie, Robert Earl and Jim Dale; two daughters, Donna Jean and Elizabeth; three grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Powell of Energy, Brenda Treat of Ozark and Janice Carter of Dongola; two brothers, Larry Colboth of West Frankfort and Tom Colboth of Creal Springs; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother; stepmother; two brothers, Jim and Dale Colboth; and one sister, Joyce Mangum. By request he will be cremated. There will be no services.

Flora Borchelt
JOHNSTON CITY -- Flora E. Borchelt, 83, of Chicago, formerly of Johnston City, died at 7:55 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, in Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frankie Starrick officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Clarabelle Sims
WEST FRANKFORT -- Clarabelle Sims, 79, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Arrangements are incomplete at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.

Otis Smith
WEST FRANKFORT -- Otis Smith, 81, died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2003, in Franklin Hospital in Benton. Services will be at a later date. Union Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Agatha Preston
ZEIGLER -- Agatha (Samples) Preston, 85, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Henry Medical Center in Stockridge. Arrangements are incomplete at Vantrease Funeral Home in Zeigler.

PINCKNEYVILLE -- William Taylor Day, 90, died at 3:18 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville.

JOHNSTON CITY -- Martha D. Barrass, 61, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin.

Don Overton
MARION -- Don Eugene Overton, 70, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, in Herrin Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin.

Sally Jo Fisher
MARION -- Sally Jo Fisher, 60, was called home to be with her Lord at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003 in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Sally was born March 10, 1943, to R. L. and Helen (Manion) Love in Centralia. She married Larry Fisher in Centralia on Jan. 16, 1960, and he survives in Marion. Sally was Manager at McDonalds on Court Street for 15 years and a member of the New Dennison First Baptist Church. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Charlotte Fisher of Riverton; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Steven Lerch of Marion; six grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Ryan and Jordan Fisher and Seth and Noah Lerch; her parents, R. L. and Helen Love of Centralia; one brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Bonnie Love of Centralia; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Glenn Stringham of Fayetteville, Ga., and Carol Sue and Richie Terasconi of Deltona, Fla. She was preceded by one son, Johnnie Lamar Fisher; and one brother, Phillip. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2003 in Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home with the Revs Glenn Stringham and Gordon Lantrip officiating. Burial will follow in Freedom Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the New Dennison First Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Lola Mae McKenzie
HERRIN -- Lola Mae "Babe" McKenzie, 84, formerly of Herrin, died at 5:14 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in Castle Rock Care Center in Castle Rock, Colo. Lola Mae was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Herrin to Ed and Ethel Mae (Arnold) Ridgway. She married Walter Ellis McKenzie on Aug. 6, 1936, in Shawneetown. He preceded her in death Jan. 9, 1975. Mrs. McKenzie was a greenhouse owner/operator. She was a longtime member of Herrin First United Methodist Church and the Herrin Garden Club. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ellis and Ginger McKenzie of Buena Park, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Jerry Lockamy of Larkspur, Colo.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Opal Davis of Marion, Wanda Peterson of Goodyear, Ariz., Ruth Smith of Elkhart, Ind., and Nadine Shadowens of Elkville; and six brothers, Edward Ridgway of Florida, Wallace Ridgway of New Lennox, Ralph Ridgway, Fred Ridgway of Long Mont, Colo., Bill Ridgway of Herrin and John Ridgway of Herrin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Larry Allen McKenzie. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Lee Lovett officiating and the Rev. Bill Sanders offering the eulogy. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Energy. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Dempsey Farr Sr.
CARBONDALE -- Dempsey Farr Sr., 60, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale, with the Rev. Norman S. Greer officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Jackson Funeral Home of Carbondale is in charge of arrangements.
