Lois E. `Nanny' Newford of Des Plaines
Funeral services for Lois E. `Nanny' Newford (nee Hook), 72, will be held at 8 p.m. today, at Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
Born Aug. 31, 1926, in Des Plaines, she died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at Ballard Nursing Home. Interment will be private.
Ms. Newford was employed as an equipment sterilizer at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, for 15 years.
Among her personal interests, she loved to play bingo and to crochet.
She is survived by her sons, Robert F. Newford of Des Plaines and David A. (Pam) Newford of Des Plaines; daughters, Sandy J. (John) Newford and Judy L. (Brad) Woodbury of Des Plaines; granddaughter, Jessica Swanson; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions made to the First Congregational Church would be greatly appreciated.

William F. Noonan of Libertyville for 10 years
Prayers for William F. Noonan, 65, formerly of Highland, Ind. and Chicago, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park (Route 176), Libertyville, and continue to St. Joseph Church for a 10 a.m. Mass.
Born Feb. 8, 1933, he passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Condell Medical Center.
Mr. Noonan was a graduate of Washington High School in East Chicago and Indiana University, and received his MBA from DePaul University, Chicago.
While living in Highland, he wasinvolved in youth sports, was past president of the Jaycees and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
While in Libertyville, Bill was a member of St. Joseph Parish, a former Little League coach, assistant basketball coach at St. Joseph School, and an active member of the Libertyville Tennis and Fitness Club. Prior to retiring, hehad been director of human resources at several corporations.
Surviving are his wife, Arlene Noonan of Libertyville; children, Elaine (Chuck) Skopelja of Indianapolis, Ind., William (Ling) Noonan of Waterbury, Conn., Lorraine (Terry) Stage of Griffith, Ind., Michael Noonan of New York City, N. Y., Paula Noonan of Oakland, Calif., James (Gloria) Noonan of Merrillville, Ind., Thomas Noonan of Newport Beach, Calif. and Christopher Noonan of Libertyville; grandchildren, Brooke, Erin and Michael Skopelja, Sean Noonan, Ryan, Colin and Alison Stage, and Ariel, Giebrah, Adlaiand Shemi Noonan; and sister, Joyce Wright of Booneville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William andAdele Noonan.
Friends of the family may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Harry B. Nyberg of Batavia
Memorial services for Harry B. Nyberg, 84, of The Holmstad in Batavia, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at The Holmstad's Ahlstrand Chapel, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia. Rev. Donna Nelson and Rev. Ronald Magnuson will officiate.
Born May 10, 1914, in Chicago, the son of Karl B. and Hilma (nee Carlson) Nyberg, he passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1999, at the Michealsen Health Care Center in Batavia. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks, Mich.
Mr. Nyberg worked for 40 years for US Steel until his retirementin 1975.
He was a 51-year Master Mason of the Masonic Boulevard (AF & AM) Lodge #882 in Evergreen Park and a member of the Harbert Community Covenant Church in Harbert, Mich. He enjoyed travels to Sweden, gardening and sports. He was a resident of The Holmstad Retirement Community for 15 years, and will be missed by his many friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Maynette A. Nyberg; son, H. Bruce Nyberg of St. Joseph, Mich.; daughter, Sandy (Dr. Leon) Sherburn of Berrien Springs, Mich.; grandchildren, Lars, Amelia and Rebekah Sherburn; cousin, Raymond Nyberg of Oak Lawn; and numerous cousins in Sweden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cousin, Ralph Nyberg.

Dina Olinger of Elgin
Funeral services for Dina Olinger, 66, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin.
Born March 31, 1932, in Elgin, the daughter of Arnum and Bernice (nee Schultz) Olinger, she died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of the Elgin/Carpentersville area, Ms. Olinger was employed by CR Industries of Elgin for 37 years before retiring in 1994.
She was the sister of Betty (John) Williams of Texas; stepsister of Donald Schultz of Rockford; niece of Rose (Del) Deming of Elgin; and aunt of several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ernest Schultz; stepbrother, Robert Schultz; two aunts; and one uncle.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Chang-Sung Peng of Westmont
Services for Chang-Sung Peng, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Chinese Christian Mandarin Church, 9 S 565 Clarendon Hills Rd., Hinsdale.
Born April 15, 1912, in Hunan Province, China, he died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Interment will be private.
Mr. Peng was a 1937 graduate of Tsing-Hua University in Beijing, China.
He retired in 1981, as CEO of Yung-KangCement Company in Taiwan.
He is survived by his children, Maureen Hsu of California, Aileen Huang of Naperville, Chi-Tung Peng of California and Yao-Yung Tseng of China; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday, at the church.

Norma Phillips of Schaumburg
Services for Norma Phillips (nee Stangeland), 76, formerly of Racine, Wis. and Hot Springs, Ark., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Living Christ Lutheran Church, 1402 Arlington, Hanover Park, IL 60103. She will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Born Feb. 28, 1922, in Chicago, she died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at Hoffman Estates Medical Center. Interment will take place in Westlawn Memorial, Racine, Wis.
Mrs. Phillips was a retired real estate agent.
She was the wife of the late Richard E. Phillips; motherof Nancy (James) Bennett of Glen Rock, Pa., Richard of Bridgeton, Mo., Bonnie (Victor) Cison of Eldersburg, Md., David of San Francisco, Calif., Pamela (Charles) Sprague of Schaumburg and Kimberly (Scott) Newland of Duluth, Ga.; grandchildren, Bobbi Jo, Brad, Stacey, Margo, Melissa, Philip, Adam, Raymond, Christina, Sarah, Jill and Joseph; brother, Robert (Betts) Stangeland of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and her dog, Preshy.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gordon (the late Katherine), Glenn (Jane) and Shirley (Lawrence).
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Road), Streamwood/Schaumburg.

Cleo Springer of West Chicago
Services for Cleo Springer, 92, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at NorrisWalen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. Rev. Dave Haley will officiate.
Born Sept. 12, 1906, in Boxville, Ky., he died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. Burial will be in Glen Oak Cemetery.
A resident of West Chicago since 1928, Mr. Springer was a member of First United Methodist of West Chicago and a life member of United Brotherhood of Laborers of Glen Ellyn. He retired in 1971 from DeTray Fouge Shopof West Chicago after 25 of service.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Sammy Springer of Evansville, Ind.; brother-in-law, George Barnes of Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece Beardsley Springer in 1986; parents; three sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

Margit C. Steen of West Dundee
Private interment will be held for Margit C. Steen, 95, of West Dundee, in Bluff City Cemetery.
Born Aug. 26, 1903, in Oslo, Norway, to Conrad and Mathea Hansen, she died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
Mrs. Steen had been a resident of West Dundee and Elgin for most of her life and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her daughter, Sonja (Robert) Duncan-White of West Dundee; daughter-in-law, Mary Steen of Elgin; grandchildren, Sandra (Alan) Law of Minneapolis, Minn., Susan Steen of Elgin, Dynah (Arnold) Sufalko of Bartlett and Heather (Paul) DuncanWhiteman of Ames, Iowa; great-grandchild, Cody Robinson; three nephews; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey S. Steen, in 1963; son, Harvey C. Steen, in 1984; sister, Oslane Dyreson; and brother, Austin Hansen.
There will be no visitation.

She was the wife of Thomas P. Sweeney; mother of Patrick R. Sweeney; daughter of Dillard and the late Edith Pruitt; sister of Lee and Pricella Pruitt; and daughter-in-law of Colette Sweeney. ]Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the time of prayers Saturday, at the funeral home.

Born Nov. 6, 1913, in McKeesport, Pa., he died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at ManorCare in Rolling Meadows.
Surviving are his daughters, Natalie (Robert) Warren of Palatine and Melanie (Terry) Terbovic-Glass of Hawaii; sister, Louise Terbovich of Pennsylvania; and grandsons, James, Robert and David Warren of Palatine, and Robert Glass of Hawaii.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Terbovic.
