Paul J. Roy

MARION -- Paul J. Roy, 92, of Marion, formerly of Momence, passed away at 5:55 a. m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Parkway Manor in Marion. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, with the Rev. Richard G. Mohr officiating. military rites will be held at the church after the service by Marion VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Wilmington. There will be no visitation. Blue Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Roy was born on Aug. 13, 1912, in Momence, to Jerry and Rosalie (Hebert) Roy. He married Ruth Smith on Jan. 17, 1942, in Kankakee, and she survives. Other survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Lucille Roy of Carbondale; niece, Joyce Sippel; nephews, Gerald Chouinard and Lee Theesfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Mr. Roy retired from Manteno State Hospital, where he worked as the store keeper for 20 years. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. He was a member of Kankakee American Legion Post 85 and a charter member of Lonestar Chapter 37 Division. He loved to travel with his wife.

WALSH -- Harvey A. Rickenberg, 75, died at 11:40 a. m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Wilson'sFuneral Home in Steeleville.

The Rev. Murle Jack

MARION -- The Rev. Murle Jack, 83, of Marion passed away at 5:40 a. m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Heartland Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, with Thomas Shadowens officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Marion. The Rev. Jack was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Marion to Ernest and Mary (LaBotte) Jack. He married Evelyn Shadowens on Jan. 22, 1947, andshe survives. Other survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Robert Woodsum of Marion; sons, David Jack and Randy Jack both of Marion; grandchildren, Lisa Yates, Ellie Eitenmiller, David Woodsum, Rachael Osborn, Cory Jack and Joshua Jack; great-grandchildren, Cassondra Woodsum, Keranda Yates, Austin Yates, Alexis Yates and Christopher Woodsum; and sisters and brother-in-law, Ethel and Phillip Bloodworth of New Burnside, Helen Moore of Carterville, and Saundra Smiley and Betty Kelton both of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kevin Jack; grandson, Craig Jack; and four brothers, Harry, Hobert, Earl and Jerry Jack. The Rev. Jack was the minister at Independent Holiness Church of God in Scottsboro for many years. He worked as a coal miner. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.

John Eichelberger

LITCHFIELD -- John Edward Eichelberger, 59, of Litchfield, died at 1:32 p. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at home. He was born on March 15, 1945, in West Frankfort, the son of Edward and Roxie Jean (Short) Eichelberger. He was employed as a coal miner for Consolidated Coal in Coffeen and then Rend Lake Mine in Sesser before retiring from the mining industry. He was then employed as an over-the-road truck driver for Hayes Transport in Carlinville. He was a member of South Side Church in Litchfield. He was also a member of United Mine Workers of America and Wolf Pack Car Club in Litchfield. He was an avid drag-racing enthusiast. He and Judy Marie Doyen were married on Oct. 4, 1969. They later divorced. He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Chad Eichelberger, Kevin Eichelberger, and Chris and Kim Eichelberger, all of Litchfield; three grandsons, Kevin E. Jr. , Kyle W. and Cole R. Eichelberger; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Linda and Earl Chambliss of Harrisburg and Rita Yount of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield, with Brother Ed Diveley, pastor of South Side Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p. m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Litchfield Food Pantry.

Madeline Rister

ELDORADO -- Madeline M. Rister, 95, died at 7:55 a. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Ridgway Manor. A private burial was held on Tuesday afternoon in Wolf Creek Cemetery in Eldorado. A memorial service will be announced in the spring of 2005 by Colonial Terrace Funeral Home.

Elbina G. Barnett

MURPHYSBORO -- Elbina G. Barnett, 69, of Murphysboro, passed away at 2:13 p. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be held at 10 a. m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at Abundant Life Fellowship in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Chuck Nehring officiating and burial in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p. m. today at Pettett Funeral Home. Elbina was born on Oct. 20, 1935, in McClure, to John Herring and Mary (McRaven) Herring. She had worked at the former Brown Shoe Company in Murphysboro, and had been a cook at Immanuel Lutheran School for several years, but her most noteworthy occupation was being a housewife, wife, mom and grandma. Mrs. Barnett was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship in Murphysboro. She married C. Dean Barnett on April 22, 1952, in Nashville, and he survives. Other survivors include her father of Murphysboro; eight children, Gay Grace, who preceded her in death May 19, 1989, and her husband Jody, Brenda Huppert and her husband Gary of Murphysboro, Johnnie Dean Barnett and his wife Lawana of Vergennes, Gary Gene Barnett and his wife Chae of Evanson, Ga. , Kanocha Coleman and her husband Jay of Johnston City, Stacy Ray Barnett of Murphysboro, Caral Diane Barnett-Cerrato and her husband Carlos of Murphysboro; three stepchildren, Robert Anthony Barnett and his wife Rose of Elkville, Geraldean Cuellar of Corpus Christie, Texas, and Caroldean Sparks of Pana; 12 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, numerous great- and step great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; one brother Ron Herring and his wife Grace, of Carbondale; five sisters Alberta Reiman and her husband Don, Ruth Vestal and her husband Tom, Faye Lee and her husband David, Ina Herring, and Kim McRoberts, all of Murphysboro. Besides her daughter and her mother, she was preceded in death by one step daughter Janie Barnett and one brother Ben Herring. The family gives their sincere appreciation to all of the physicians, Dr. Martin, Dr. Clutts, and Dr. Lee, for the care that they gave to their wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ralph D. Laughlin

HERRIN -- Ralph D. Laughlin, 84, formerly of Herrin, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Canal Fulton, Ohio. He was born on June 9, 1920, in Ohio. Mr. Laughlin served in World War II and was stationed in Alaska. He retired from the Marion Federal Prison, and was an avid Civil War re-enactor and historian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Laughlin of Herrin; a daughter, Christine Parola of Energy; and a son Larry Dean of Ohio. A daughter, Judi Laughlin survives. He is also survived by three grandsons, James D. McHargue stationed in Germany; Scott Dawson and Paul McHargue both of Herrin; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Swigart Funeral Home in Canal Fulton is officiating with burial at 11 a. m. on Friday, Dec. 24 in Canal Fulton City Cemetary, in Ohio.

George L. Tanner

EAST ST. LOUIS -- George L. Tanner Sr. , 72, of Gering, Neb. , formerly of East St. Louis, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Regional West Medical Center. In keeping with his wishes, his remains were cremated at Jolliffe Funeral Home and Crematory in Scottsbluff, Neb. , and no services will be held. He was born on Aug. 31, 1932, in East St. Louis, to Fred and Idola (Coffey) Tanner. He grew up and received his education there. George's nickname was Elmo, and his first job was selling newspapers at 13 in St. Louis to baseball greats such as Stan Musial and Joe DiMaggio. At 17, he chose to join the Army and proudly served his country from 1950 until 1952 during the Korean conflict. He received a Purple Heart for his service, among other medals. He married Norma Taylor on April 30, 1955, in Jamestown. After his discharge, he spent some time as a meat inspector, worked for more than 20 years for the Southern Railroad. He moved to Laramie, Wyo. , in 1981, where he lived until 1992 when he moved to Scottsbluff. He moved to Gering in 2001 and has lived there since. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his youth, George was an avid baseball player. He loved coin collecting, spending time with his grandkids, and, one day prior to his death, he had the joy of meeting his first great-granddaughter, Ariel. He was our hero, and he was loved by all. We love you, Pop. He is survived by his wife, Norma of Gering; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cheryl Peters of Houston, Texas, and Elizabeth and Tom Hinds of Gering; two sons, George L. Tanner Jr. of Tigard, Ore. , and Christopher Tanner of Vancouver, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. His parents; an infant son, Joseph; and two brothers, Ed and Donald, preceded him in death.

Ricky Joe Guy

HURST -- Ricky Joe Guy, 61, of Hurst, died at 4 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 11 a. m. today in Riggin- Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Keith Bunfill officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Friends called after 6 p. m. Wednesday. Ricky was born on June 5, 1943, in Carterville, to Roy Austin and Edith Mary Alice (Brown) Guy. He is survived by his mother, Edith Mary Alice Guy of Valparaiso, Ind.; two sons, Roy and Theodore Guy; one stepdaughter, Tammy Beckett of Hurst; one stepson, Michael Maloney of Colp; one sister, Diane Guy of Westville, Ind.; one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Julie Guy of Valparaiso; four step-grandchildren, Kenneth, Christopher and Andrew of Hurst and Christopher of Colp; three nieces, Rachel Guy of Valparaiso, Cheryl Gumulauski of Lindenhurst, Melissa Kaczocha of Chicago; one nephew, Brian Kubiak of Portage, Ind.; one great-niece, Megan McCauley of Valparaiso; his great-great-niece and -nephew, Christian and Emilee McCauley, both of Valparaiso; one special cousin, Julia Canady of Westville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Guy; one niece, Michelle Gumulauski; and one nephew, Matthew Guy. Ricky worked as an iron worker in Hammond, Ind. , for many years and recently was a self-employed businessman specializing in stamp collecting. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Herrin. Ricky enjoyed going fishing and working on his computer.

Marjorie D. Bittle

COBDEN -- Marjorie D. Bittle, 84, of Cobden, passed into a better world Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Union County Hospital in Anna. Marjorie Duane was born on June 22, 1920, near Wolf Lake, the daughter of Willis and Clara Nichols Allen. She was married to Rudolph Bittle on June 29, 1935, in Makanda. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1994. The family moved to the Cobden area in the 1940s and to this union four children were born: three daughters and a son. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Bill Schwab of Litchfield, Va. , and Charles Flamm of Cobden; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kay Bittle of Marion; one sister, Vivian Smith of Johnston City; her grandchildren and their spouses, Ken Flamm and Christopher and Kelly Flamm, all of Cobden, Carolyn and Jerry Rains of Pomona, Eric and Cheryl Ogden of Carlinville, Gary and Nancy Ogden of Raymond, and Antony Sean Bittle of Carbondale; her great-grandchildren, Joshua, Clayton and Cooper Flamm, James Rains, Jillian, Jordan, Jarrod and Jennifer Ogden, Carrie and husband Brian Millburg, Riley Bittle, Kari Rice, and Kelsey Fischer; one great-great-grandchild, Lexie Millburg; and her nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudolph; an infant daughter, Trena Ann, in 1943, one son-in-law, Dean Ogden, in 1977; two grandsons, Jim Flamm in 1979 and Tom Flamm in 1980; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Flamm, in 2001; four brothers, Chester, Gardnor, Harru and Howard Allen; and six sisters, Osia and Velma Lyerla, Willie Rosenthal, Laura Smith, Lenita Choate, and Opal Swink. Marjorie had lived at Cobden City Center for the past seven years, where she was called 'granny' by all. She was retired from the former Anna State Hospital and the shoe factory and was an Avon representative for many years. She was an Army wife during World War II, and she and her daughters lived in Macon, Ga. , while Rudolph was stationed at Camp Wheeler. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cobden. Marjorie enjoyed church activities, reading, crocheting and traveling, and she loved to cook. Services for Mrs. Marjorie D. Bittle will be at 2 p. m. today in Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor of Harrisburg, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Cobden, officiating. Interment will be in Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Cobden Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Lendel Wemhoener

METROPOLIS -- Lendel J. Wemhoener, 78, of Mermet community, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004. Services will be at 11 a. m. Friday at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wes Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a. m. Friday at the funeral home. Paul Gill

NASHVILLE -- Paul Gill, 85, of Nashville, departed this life at 9:37 p. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004 in the Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Nashville. Paul was born in Washington County on Sept. 14, 1919, the son of Theodore and Anna (Smith) Gill. He was united in marriage to Magdalen Stern in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todd's Mill on March 8, 1943, and she preceded him in death on June 30, 1960. He then married Alberta (Witt) Grzegorek in Todd's Mill March 21, 1987, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 2000. Mr. Gill was a retired farmer. He was a member of the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Todd's Mill and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2921 of Pickneyville. Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing pinochle. Left to mourn his passing are two daughters, Linda Rozycki and husband Francis of Maryville and Rose Konkel and husband Marion of Pinckneyville; two sons, Ronald Gill and wife Linda, and David Gill and wife Sandy all of Nashville; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; infant daughter, Judith Catherine Gill; five sisters, Emilia in infancy, Mary Petrashek, Ella Poleski, Edna Slama and Clara Hunter; and six brothers, John P. , Thomas, James, Leo, Paul and Bernard Gill. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, in St. Mary Magdelen Catholic Church in Todd's Mill, with Father James Van Oss and Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p. m. Thursday and from 7:30 to 10:30 a. m. Friday at Campangna Funeral Home in Nashville. A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home. Should friends desire, Mass offerings or memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois will be accepted at Campagna Funeral Home.

Alma Millie Turner Knapp

CHESTER -- Alma Millie Turner Knapp, 95, died at 2:45 a. m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester. Services will be at 2 p. m. today in Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, with Pastor Dennis Preston officiating. Those attending may gather at 1:30 p. m. at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home before going to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home.

Wilma Finazzo

WEST FRANKFORT -- Wilma Finazzo, 97, died at 6:20 a. m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Helia Healthcare in Benton. Services will be at 9 a. m. Friday, Dec. 24, 2004, at St. Johns Catholic Church, with Father Brian Barker officiating. Interment will be in Tower Height Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p. m. today at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p. m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Catholic Church or the Wit and Wisdom. Mrs. Finazzo worked with her family in their business, Barney Wholesale. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, founding member of St. Bernadettes Sodality, with her sister, Nellie, member of Wit and Wisdom, Tower Heights Cemetery Board, Delta Theta Tau, National lifetime award of Delta Theta Tau, Girl Scouts, Cancer and Heart Association, West Frankfort Citizen of the Year, along with many civic organizations and a member of Franklin County Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She was born on July 4, 1907, in Italy, to Tonazzi and Mena (Giacomozzi) Barney. She is survived by a niece, Sarah Jane Alexander and husband Bill of West Frankfort; great-nephews, Scott alexander, Jon and Amy Alexander all of West Frankfort, Dennis, Richard and Kevin Welp and families; Rose, Joe and Jim Barney and families. She was preceded in death by her husband Tony, parents, an infant nephew, John.

Howard R. Luthy

PINCKNEYVILLE -- Howard R. Luthy, 92, of Pinckneyville, died at 9:48 p. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. Howard was born on June 27, 1912, in Campbell Hill, a son to Fred and Elizabeth (Stoffel) Luthy. He married Lorene Edgar on Dec. 23, 1933, in Pinckneyville. He was a farmer and a construction worker. Survivors include his wife; six children and their spouses, Loren D. and Katherine Luthy of Batavia, Ohio, Aldene and Jim Anderson of Donovan, Marilyn Luthy of Pinckneyville, Pauline and Robert Spurgeon of Nauvoo, Barbara and Bill Spurgeon of Pinckneyville, and Joe and Chantelle Luthy of North Canton, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Laverne 'Doc' Luthy; one daughter, Geannine Luthy; and one granddaughter, Jaci Sills. Services will be held at 11 a. m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, with Bob Spurgeon officiating. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery in Swanwick. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Edward A. Farrar

CARBONDALE -- Edward A. Farrar, 71, of Carbondale, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. He was born on Jan. 23, 1933, in Wood River, Mo. , son of Edward and Berdia (Vanzante) Farrar. He married Pauline Starling on Dec. 8, 1952, in Jonesboro. He owned and operated Ed's Standard Service Station for many years and then was a salesman for Jim Pearl and Vic Keonig auto dealerships. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church in Paducah. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; one son, Greg of Benton; two grandchildren, Andrea and Jerrica Farrar of Murphysboro; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Frances L. Gibson and Margaret Rendleman. Services will be conducted at 1 p. m. today in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Encil Edmonds officiating. Interment will be in Cobden Cemetery, with military rites conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 Anna VFW. Visitation will be from 11 a. m. to 1 p. m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gospel Assembly Church of Paducah.

METROPOLIS -- Garry L. Lewis, of Metropolis, formerly of Rosiclare, died at 10:30 p. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Voilet Lillian Wendling

MURPHYSBORO -- Violet Lillian Wendling, 89, of Murphysboro, passed away at 9:35 p. m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be at 1 p. m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ted Mayes officiating and burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p. m. today at Pettett Funeral Home and from noon until 1 p. m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran School. Lillian was born on Dec. 22, 1914, in Energy, which was formerly Fordsville, to (James) Ernest Gimmerson and Mel-Vinnia (Osburn) Gimmerson. She married Gerhard F. Wendling on Sept. 12, 1956, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1969. Mrs. Wendling retired as soil technician, after working six and a half years for the Jackson County Farm Bureau and 14 and a half years with Twin County. She also helped work on the family farm and she loved to sew. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Murphysboro, since January of 1957, and she was a member of the Jackson County Farm Bureau. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two half sisters, Cleo Marie (Clark) Colp and Leota Venita (Clark) Hall. Survivors include first and second cousins, many nieces and nephews by marriage and two close friends, Jan and Pat Etherton of Murphysboro.

Cory F. Conley

CHESTER -- Cory F. Conley, 49, of Chester, passed away at 1:19 a. m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2004, in Chester Memorial Hospital. He was born to the Thomas and Welcome (Cory) Conley onJan. 5, 1955, in East St. Louis. He married Bette Hammon on Feb. 23, 1985, in Troy. He sold air filters and water purification systems for homes. He was a member of Grace Church Ministries in Chester, Chester Eagles Club Aerie 3252, Elks Lodge 1629 in Chester and the American Legion Post 487 in Chester. Survivors include his wife Bette Conley of Chester; one son, Erin Conley of Chester; one step son, Keith Hammon of Portage, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 11 a. m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester, with Pastor Ron Coleman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a. m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family's choice.

COBDEN -- Marjorie D. Bittle, 84, of Cobden, passed into a better world Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Union County Hospital in Anna. Marjorie Duane was born onJune 22, 1920, near Wolf Lake, the daughter of Willis and Clara Nichols Allen. She was married to Rudolph Bittle June 28, 1935, in Makanda. He preceded her in death Sept. 15, 1994. The family moved to the Cobden area in the 1940s and to this union four children were born, three daughters and a son. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Bill Schwab of Litchfield, Virginia and Charles Flamm of Cobden; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kay Bittle of Marion; one sister, Vivian Smith of Johnston City; grandchildren, Ken Flamm, Christopher and wife Kelly Flamm all of Cobden, Carolyn and husband Jerry Rains of Pomona, Eric and wife Cheryl Ogden of Carlinville, Gary and wife Nancy Ogden of Raymond, Antony Sean Bittle of Carbondale; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Clayton and Cooper Flamm, James Rains, Jillian, Jordan, Jarrod and Jennifer Ogden, Carrie and husband Brian Millbury, Riley Bittle, Kari Rice, Kelsey Fischer; one great-great-grandchild, Lexie Millbury; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudolph, infant daughter, Trena Ann in 1943, son-in-law, Dean Ogden in 1977, grandsons, Jim Flamm in 1979 and Tom Flamm in 1980, a great-granddaughter, Amanda Flamm in 2001; four brothers, Chester, Gardnor, Harru and Howard Allen and by six sisters, Osia and Velma Lyerla, Willie Rosenthal, Laura Smith, Lenita Choate and Opal Swink. Marjorie had lived at Cobden City Center for the past seven years where she was called 'granny' by all. She was retired from the former Anna State Hospital, the shoe factory and was an Avon Representative for many years. She was an Army wife during World War II and she and her daughters lived in Macon, Ga. , while Rudolph was stationed at Camp Wheeler. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cobden. Marjorie enjoyed church activities, reading, crocheting, traveling and loved to cook. Services for Mrs. Marjorie D. Bittle will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor of Harrisburg, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Cobden, officiating. Interment will be in Cobden Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a. m. to 2 p. m. Thursday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden. Memorials may be made to Cobden Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Ricky Joe Guy

HURST -- Ricky Joe Guy, 61, of Hurst, died at 4 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 11 a. m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in Riggin- Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville, with the Rev. Keith Bunfill officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Carterville. Friends may call after 6 p. m. today at the funeral home in Carterville. Ricky was born on June 5, 1943, in Carterville, to Roy Austin and Edith Mary Alice (Brown) Guy. He is survived by his mother, Edith Mary Alice Guy of Valparaiso, Ind.; two sons, Roy and Theodore Guy; one stepdaughter, Tammy Beckett of Hurst; one stepson, Michael Maloney of Colp; one sister, Diane Guy of Westville, Ind.; one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Julie Guy of Valparaiso; four step-grandchildren, Kenneth, Christopher and Andrew of Hurst and Christopher of Colp; three nieces, Rachel Guy of Valparaiso, Cheryl Gumulauski of Lindenhurst, Melissa Kaczocha of Chicago; one nephew, Brian Kubiak of Westville; one great-niece, Megan McCauley of Valparaiso; his great-great-niece and -nephew, Christian and Emilee McCauley, both of Valparaiso; one special cousin, Julia Canady of Westville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins. Ricky worked as an iron worker in Hammond, Ind. , for many years and recently was a self-employed businessman specializing in stamp collecting. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Herrin. Ricky enjoyed going fishing and working on his computer.

THEBES -- Todd S. Thomas, 31, died Monday evening, Dec. 20, 2004, in Thebes. Services will be at 1 p. m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Daystar Care Center c/o Route 1 Cache, IL 62914. Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.

Corrine DeBow

COLP -- Corrine H. DeBow, 69, died at 11:45 a. m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in Friendship Care Center in Herrin. Arrangements are incomplete at Jackson Funeral Home in Colp.

Nina Casey

McLEANSBORO -- Nina Rose Casey, 59, died at 8:40 a. m. Monday, Dec. 2004, at home. Services will be at 11 a. m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Burial will be in Digby Hill Cemetery in Dale. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p. m. today at the funeral home.
