PEKIN—Vivian Louise Duez, 80, of 401 Malley St., Northglenn, Colorado died at 2:10 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at Castle Gardens Nursing Home in Northglenn. She was formerly of 630 W. Shore Dr. in Pekin.

Born March 26, 1921 in San Jose, she was a daughter of Charles Isaac and Margaret Hartwig Connett. She married Albert Duez on March 26, 1941 in Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 22, 1995 in Pekin and 1 brother, Clifford Connett.

Surviving are 2 sons, Ronald (Shirley) Duez of Westminster, Colorado and Albert (Lorraine) Duez of Simi Valley, California; 6 granddaughters, Billie Jo (Galen) Theye of Westminster, Christina (Mike) Feldstein of Simi Valley, Shirley (Dan) Inow of Washington, IL, Teresa Duez of Pekin, and Autumn and Summer, both of Simi Valley; 7 great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Ernest (Marge) Connett of Glasford and George (Mary) Connett of East Peoria.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes. Association, 2580 Federal Drive, Suite 403, Decatur, IL 62526.

RANDALL J. TRENHOLM
(1954~2001)

CREVE COEUR ~ Randall John Trenholm, 46, of 86 Butler Street, Nelson, died Sunday, May 6, 2001 at his residence. He was formerly of Creve Coeur.

Born September 27, 1954 in Peoria to John Willard and Jenny Daley Trenholm, he married Amy Lee Grove on June 20, 1980 in Pekin.

Surviving are his wife of Creve Coeur; one son, Nicholas (Amy) Trenholm of Dixon; one step-son, Terry Dickson of North Pekin; one grandson, Evan Trenholm of Dixon; two sisters Christy (Frank) Schmall of Dixon and Lisa Clifton of South Pekin; and two brothers, Donnie Trenholm of South Pekin and Jimmie Trenholm of Pekin.

His parents preceded him in death.

He had served in the United States Army.

Mr. Trenholm worked as a shipping clerk at Crest Foods in Rochelle for many years, last working in January of 2000.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Eugene A. Talbot will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation has been accorded.

BARBARA J. WRHEL
(1933~2001)

PEKIN—Barbara J. Wrhel, 67, of 101 N. 18th St., died at 10:32 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2001 at her home.

Born October 9, 1933 in Emden, Illinois, she was a daughter of William C. and Helen C. Carnahan Janssen. She married Frank D. Wrhel on October 19, 1963 in Pekin. He died August 7, 2000.

Surviving are her mother, Helen C. Janssen of Pekin; 1 daughter, Jane (Kip) Patterson of Manito; 1 son, John D. Wrhel of Indianapolis; 3 grandchildren, Kylie Patterson and Ryan Patterson, both of Manito, and Shelby Wrhel of Fairport Harbor, Ohio; and 2 brothers, William S. (Judy) Janssen of Manito and Phillip E. (Joyce) Janssen of Pekin.

Mrs. Wrhel worked for Pekin Insurance Company for over 43 years, retiring as insurance underwriter on July 8, 1997. She began with Pekin Insurance as a summer employee at the age of 16. She accepted full time employment in the underwriting department after her high school graduation in 1951. In 1973, Barb advanced to the position of assistant fire underwriter and in 1979, she was promoted to senior homeowner underwriter. Eight years later, she was named Senior Personal Lines Underwriter. She was a member of the Pekin Insurance Twenty-five Year Club.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin and loved gardening.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Cremation will follow visitation.

HERSCHEL N. WHITE
(1915~2001)

CREVE COEUR—Herschel Norman White, 85, of 126 Margaret Dr. died at 11:29 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2001 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.

Born November 25, 1915 in Dry Creek, Missouri, he was a son of Herschel and Lula Dollins White. He married Myrtle T. Lemon Rice on April 28, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his wife on October 30, 1993 in Peoria, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.

Surviving are 1 step-son, Robert E. (Myrtle) Rice of Creve Coeur; 1 step-daughter, Johnnie L. Hall of Bartonville; 2 step-grandchildren, Barbara (Carlos) Patton of Bartonvillle and Michael Chatfield of California; 1 niece and 1 nephew.

Mr. White was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 37 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1978. He served with the 88th Infantry Division in the U.S. Army during World War II where he received the Bronze Star and 3 battle stars.

He was a member of the Frank N. Nicol Lodge #1170 A.F.&A.M. in Creve Coeur for over 50 years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 1002 in East Peoria, a life member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Peoria, and a member of V.F.W. Post 4835 in Creve Coeur. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Peoria.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. John H. Stanley will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 116 NE Perry Ave., Peoria, IL 61603.

MARILYN FIELDS
(1936~2001)

CREVE COEUR—Marilyn Fields, 64, of 337 Zessin St., died at 7:40 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at her home.

Born May 7, 1936 in Bloomington, she was a daughter of Paul Joseph and Zelma Daroline Riley Abraham. She married Clifford L. Fields on February 22, 1974 in Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Paul Gregory Scott, and 1 daughter, Mary Beth Scott.

Surviving are her husband; 3 daughters, Marilyn (Dan) Oesch of Pekin, Angelia (Brooke) Camden of East Peoria, and Lillian Alberta Fields of Creve Coeur; 2 grandsons, Steven Erickson, Jr. and Brooke Canden, Jr., both of East Peoria; and 1 sister, Daroline Masters-Shaw of Holland, Ohio.

Mrs. Fields was employed as a materials specialist at Caterpillar, Inc.’s Morton Parts Department for over 30 years, last working Tuesday, May 1, 2001. She previously had worked for Foster-Gallagher, Inc. for 15 years.

She was a member of UAW Local 974, the Peoria Salvation Army, and attended First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. Edward Mitchell will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 2675 Allentown Road, Pekin, IL 61554.

ELEANOR K. ABEL
(1914~2001)

PEKIN ~ Eleanor Kathryn Abel, 86, of 911 Audubon Drive in Pekin died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2001 at Morton Villa Nursing Center in Morton.

Born September 11, 1914 in Hollis Township, Peoria County to Henry George and Kathryn Louise Cose Graber, she married Erven George Abel on April 18, 1953 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, John Phillip (Judy) Abel of Pekin; one grandson, Shane Christopher Abel of Washington; three sisters, Bernadine A. Gollon of Mapleton, Hilda R. Psinas and Esther J. Davidson, both of Pekin and one brother, Edward Graber of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother.

She was a graduate of Hollis Grade School and in 1932 graduated from the Academy of Our Lady in Peoria.

She worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin for 44 years, retiring in February of 1978 as the assistant treasurer and cashier.

Mrs. Abel was a charter member of the Pekin Emblem Club No. 424. She also was a member of the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary and formerly volunteered for the American Red Cross in Pekin. She loved birds and flowers and annually helped with the marigold plantings in Pekin. In 1989, she and her husband were selected and served as the grand marshals of the Pekin Marigold Festival.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

Her funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2001 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. The Rev. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2001 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with an Emblem Club service at 7 p.m. The recitation of the rosary will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be one half-hour before to services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 South 7th Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

DONALD W. "TUCK" WOULFE
(1953~2001)

Manito ~ Donald Wayne "Tuck" Woulfe, 48, of 1017 South Collins Street in Manito, died at 4:40 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2001 at his residence.

Born June 3, 1953 in St. Elmo to Donald F. and Delight A. Rhodes Woulfe, he married Barbara A. Riley on February 9, 1981 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Delight A. Callaway of Pekin; one son, Eric R. (Michelle) Madden of Pekin and one daughter, Amber N. Woulfe of Manito; three grandchildren, Kailey Langloss, Brittnie Langloss and Ryan R. Madden, all of Pekin; four brothers, Danny (Sherry) Woulfe and David (Gail) Woulfe, both of Green Valley, Robert Woulfe of Manito and Randy (Pam) Callaway of Pekin; and four sisters, Cathy (Dave) Snider of Manito, Debbie (Bill) Kirk of Armington, Tina (George) Rudd of Glasford and Tami Frye of Pekin.

His father preceded him in death.

He was a 1971 graduate of Green Valley High School.

He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. as a chipper at the Mapleton Foundry for seven years, last working in February 2001.

He was a diehard Indianapolis Colts football fan.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2001 at the Forest City Community Church in Forest City. The Rev. Thomas B. Guengerich will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.

Memorials may be made to Methodist Medical Center Hospice Services, 221 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61636 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

JUDY A. STANFEL
(1941~2001)

PEKIN ~ Judy A. Stanfel, 60, of 2813 Elm Street in Fargo, North Dakota, died Monday, July 30, 2001 in Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. She was formerly of Pekin.

Born January 15, 1941 in Pekin to William Joseph and Joyce B. Bly Mefford, she married William Stanfel on December 20, 1964 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Joyce Mefford of St. Charles, Missouri; one sister, Linda (Robert) Irwin of St. Peters, Missouri and one nephew, Jason Irwin of St. Peters.

Her father preceded her in death on September 10, 1998 in Pekin.

She grew up and attended school in Pekin, graduating from Pekin Community High School in 1959. Judy worked as a surgical technician at Pekin Hospital for a short time. She returned to school, graduating from the Graham Hospital School of Nursing of Canton in 1964. Mr. and Mrs. Stanfel moved to Forest Park, Illinois following their marriage. Judy then worked as a surgical RN at the West Suburban Hospital of Oak Park. The couple moved on to Fargo in 1968. Judy worked as a surgical nurse at Dakota Hospital and Dakota Heartland Hospital, where she was presently employed.

Judy spent many summer days at the families lake home on Cotton Lake, Minnesota. She enjoyed the outdoors, observing birds and animals. She loved children and was "Grandma Judy" to all her co-workers’ children. Her favorite pastime was sending cards and letters to friends and family. A special person in Judy’s life was her Godson, Travers Behlmer. Judy’s passion has always been nursing.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 6, 2001 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Timothy Nolan will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Pekin Hospital Foundation, 600 South 13th Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554-9954.

BRENDA L. DAIGLE
(1954~2001)

EAST PEORIA ~ Brenda Lynn Daigle, 47, of 1440 Highview Road, East Peoria, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Emergency Room in Peoria.

Born June 15, 1954 in Eastport, Maine to Donald Raye and Joan Barbara Flaherty Barrett, she married Raymond Earle Daigle on January 29, 1977 in Orono, Maine. He survives.

Also surviving are her parents of Orrington, Maine; two sons, Brian J, (Amanda) Daigle of Foley, Alabama and Nicholas R. Daigle of Columbus, Ohio; one daughter, Alicia L. Daigle of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Gerald (Jill) Barrett of Orrington, Maine; two sisters, Nancy Springer of Bangor, Maine and Cindy (Jeff) Black of Bucksport, Maine; five nephews; and one niece.

Her grandparents preceded her in death.

She was a 1972 graduate of Brewer High School in Brewer, Maine

A homemaker, Mrs. Daigle enjoyed reading.

Graveside services will be Friday, August 3, 2001 at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport, Maine. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

EVA MAE LONGENECKER
(1916~2001)

WASHINGTON ~ Eva Mae Longenecker, 85, of 1110 New Castle Road, Washington, died at 7:22 a.m. Sunday, July 29, 2001 at Washington Christian Village in Washington.

She was born May 1, 1916 in Fairfield to George Reuben and Carrie Crews Doty.

Surviving is one brother, Jesse F. (Nancy) Doty of Green Valley, Arizona; one sister, Florence (Thomas) Swords of Waverly, Indiana; three nieces; and one nephew.

Her parents, one infant son, and two brothers preceded her in death.

Mrs. Longenecker was a licensed practical nurse in California for many years.

Private graveside services will be Thursday, August 2, 2001 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
