ANCIL E. FOX
(1918~2003)

PEKIN ~ Ancil Everet Fox, 84, of 422 Pleasure Street, Chetek, Wisconsin, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. He was formerly of 1111 Henrietta Street in Pekin.

Born September 13, 1918 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Emmett and Helen Winifred Vaughn Fox, he married Rosalie Honor Kirgan on June 11, 1941 in Pekin. She died November 17, 1999 in Chetek, Wisconsin. His parents, one brother, and one infant sister also preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Dean R. (Sandra) Fox and Gary D. (Brenda) Fox, both of Pekin; one daughter, Peggy J. (Dennis) Wood of Chetek, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Darren L. Murphy and Ryan E. Murphy, both of Peoria, Bret W. (Sheila) Fox and Paige N. (Kirt) Gibbs, both of Pekin, Chad D. (Heather) Fox of Groveland, Shelley M. (Jeffery) Beste of Cedarville, Ohio, and Brandon C. (Amy) Murphy of Washington; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson.

Mr. Fox worked for Corn Products Corporation in Pekin as a millwright for 35 years, retiring in 1976.

He was a member of the Chetek United Methodist Church and the Chetek Masonic Lodge #277 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, and the Pioneer Club at Corn Products. He was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1271, and Pekin Lodge #29, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, all of Pekin.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2003 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. James H. Harness will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Union Mission, 203 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

BERYL GEBHARDT
(1907~2003)

PEKIN—Lyla Beryl Gebhardt, 96, of 508 W. Trilby Rd., Fort Collins, Colorado, died at 1:05 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2003 at Good Samaritan Retirement Village in Fort Collins. She was formerly of Pekin.

Born February 11, 1907 in Deer Creek to Robert and Carrie Lewin Farlin, she married Wilbur Gebhardt on June 4, 1938 in Missouri. He died January 28, 1972 in Plantation, Florida.

Also preceding in death were one grandson and one brother.

Surviving are one daughter, Patricia B. (Eric) Reno of Fort Collins; one son, Robert W. Gebhardt of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and five grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Illinois State Normal Teachers’ College in Normal.

Mrs. Gebhardt last worked as an administrative assistant in the Broward County, Florida school district. Previously, she and her husband had owned and operated Uptown Motors Oldsmobile and Cadillac dealership in Pekin from 1939-55 and she had taught in a 1-room schoolhouse in Dillon, Illinois for 5 years.

In year younger years, she was active in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies, 4-H, Y-teens, and the Methodist Youth Fellowship in Pekin. She was a former member and past president of the Pilot Club; Pekin Emblem Club No. 424; Celestial City Chapter No. 333, Order of the Eastern Star, all in Pekin.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Krista L. Brockman will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

BERTHA CLIFTON
(1920~2003)

PEKIN ~ Bertha Viola Clifton, 83, of 1520 El Camino Drive, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2003 at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of 30 Park Drive in North Pekin.

Born August 28, 1920 in Standard City to Henry Joseph and Bertha Alexander Picton, she married Joseph Ross Clifton on August 10, 1940 in Staunton. He died March 3, 1999 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis R. Clifton and R. Bruce (Mary) Clifton, both of Pekin; four grandchildren, Tony R. Clifton of Morton, Casey J. Clifton and Robert B. Clifton, Jr., both of Pekin and Connie S. Clifton of Pensacola, Florida; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two step-great-grandchildren and one brother, Henry J. (Edna) Picton, Jr. of Sunnyland.

She worked for Peoria Suppliers as a receiving clerk, which later became Murray’s, where she last worked as the manager of the receiving department. She later worked for Evans Products and then for Sequoia Products in Peoria as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Creve Coeur Church of the Nazarene.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert L. Barnard will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.

JAMES DULANEY
(1925~2003)

PEKIN ~ James Edwin Dulaney, 78, of 1702 Holiday Drive, died at 3:52 a.m., Sunday, October 5, 2003 at Pekin Manor.

Born July 31, 1925 in Galesburg to Sidney Clay and Verna Louise Allen Dulaney, he married Dorothe M. VanVelsor on July 31, 1952 in Palmyra, Missouri. She died October 28, 1990 in Pekin.

Surviving are one son, Stephen J. Dulaney of Moline; one daughter, Anita L. (George) Kampas of Pekin; four grandchildren, Scott A. Kampas, Kristofer J. Kampas, Lance M. Kampas, all of Pekin and Andrew R. Dulaney of Moline and two brothers, Lester K. (Charlene) Dulaney of Mesquite, Nevada and Merle G. "Gene" (Nancy) Dulaney of Dayton, Texas.

He was a Navy World War II veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.

He retired in 1987 from Sherex in Mapleton after 26 years of service, where he first worked in production, then in maintenance and last as an operator at the tank farm. He was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union in Pekin.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Galesburg and attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

He was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed traveling and tending his garden.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. The Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 of Galesburg will conduct military rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

JEFFREY WOOD
(1977~2003)

MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Jeffrey Allen "Woody" Wood, 26, of 312 Lincoln Road, was pronounced dead at 4:27 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003 in Peoria County.

He was born February 19, 1977 in Peoria to Michael C. and Debra L. Carter Wood.

Surviving are his parents, Mike and Debby Wood of Marquette Heights, one son, Austin Michael Wood of East Peoria; three brothers, Joseph M. (Joan) Wood of Washington, Jeremy C. Wood and his twin, Jason N. Wood, both of Marquette Heights; his paternal grandmother, Rose Mary Wood of Pekin; and his maternal grandparents, William E. and Bonnie L. Carter of Pekin.

His grandfather, Floyd Chester Wood on March 17, 2003 in Lakeland, Florida, preceded him in death,

He was a 1996 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

A graduate apprentice of Boilermakers Local No. 60 in Morton, he had been with the Boilermakers for 7 years and last worked Saturday.

He enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson. He also enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with friends. He loved nature and watching deer.

He had attended North Pekin Church of the Nazarene.

His memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the North Pekin Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Gary E. Carter, his uncle, will officiate. Visitation will be for three hours before services Thursday at the church. Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boilermakers Local No. 60 to be used for the Boilermakers' annual contribution to St. Jude, 425 West Edgewood Court, Morton, Illinois 61550.

WILLIAM FELD
(1928~2003)

PEKIN ~ William Harry Feld, 74, of 1100 South 2nd Street, Pekin, died at 10:44 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2003 at his home.

He was born December 1, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri to William J. and Viola Jones Feld.

Surviving is one brother, Roger (Nancy) Feld of St. Louis, Missouri.

One brother (Gary Feld) preceded him in death.

Mr. Feld was a bricklayer in the area for many years, working out of Bricklayers Union Local # 6 of Illinois in Mackinaw.

He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1956, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific area, Korea, and Japan.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869, the Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1232, and the George W. Maple Memorial AMVETS Post #235, all in Pekin.

military graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at War Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Pekin. There will be no visitation.

Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel is in charge of arrangements.

SUE GOODRICH
(1942 ~ 2003)

TREMONT ~ Sue Carol Goodrich, 60, of 14068 N. Windermere died at 1:12 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2003 in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born November 26, 1942 in Lake Forest to Donovan M. and Lorraine M. Nestrick Peck, she married Richard L. Goodrich on March 10, 1962 in Millington, Tennessee.

Surviving are her husband; 1 son, Jeff (Terri) Goodrich of Puyallup, Washington; 3 daughters, Julie (Mike) Farris of Calico Rock, Arkansas; Stephanie (Vince) Davis of Hastings, Minnesota, and Tricia (Ben) Berry of Springfield, Illinois; 7 grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Linda (Mark) Switzer and Karen (David) Gibbs, both of Pekin, and Marsha (Dan) VanDeVeer of East Peoria.

A certified Illinois assessing officer, Mrs. Goodrich worked for Tazewell County in the Supervisor of Assessments Office for 22 years, retiring in 1999 as a deputy assessor.

She was a member of Riverside Community Church in Peoria and a former member of the Marquette Heights Fire Department Auxiliary.

She loved gardening, travelling, genealogy, and her Norwegian heritage.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, September 25, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. David W. Gibbs will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

PETER G. GUENGERICH
(1910~2003)

PEKIN—Peter George Guengerich, 92, of 1105 S. 7th St. died at 5:20 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. He was formerly of 7465 Myrtle St. in Manito.

Born October 4, 1910 in Morton to John and Fredericka Schick Guengerich, he married Ida Marie Foster on May 28, 1931 in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife; 1 son, Ronald Wayne (Sharon) Guengerich of Elmhurst; one half-brother, John Allen Guengerich of Mackinaw; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter; 3 brothers; 1 sister; 3 half-sisters; and 2 half-brothers.

Mr. Guengerich worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 32 years, retiring as a maintenance welder in 1972.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin where he was a former member of both the church planning committee and the Men’s Club.

He was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin. Rev. Rodger P. Abatie and Vicar Nathan Woolery will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 700 S. 4th St., Pekin, IL 61554.

GERALD "JOE" TAYLOR
(1944~2003)

PEKIN—Gerald Thomas "Joe" Taylor, 59, of 2841 Allentown Rd. died at 2:55 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2003 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born August 3, 1944 in Lobelville, Tennessee to Ellis and Bernice Mayberry Taylor, he married Sheryl Munter on May 14, 1966 in Pekin.

Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Anita (Les) Wood of Pekin; 1 grandson; 1 step-granddaughter; 4 brothers, Arnold Taylor and Kenny Taylor, both of El Paso, Billy (Peggy) Taylor of Pekin, and David Taylor of Lincoln; and 3 sisters, Catherine Deterts of Bloomington, Pat (Larry) Schlottman of Manito, and Linda Taylor of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister.

Mr. Taylor was a member of Iron Workers Local #112 in East Peoria for 38 years, 25 of which he worked at C. Iber and Sons in Peoria, until they went out of business.

He had served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a past member of both the Pekin Moose Lodge #916 and Pekin Eagles Aerie #1869.

He enjoyed camping and fishing with his grandson.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2003 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
