PEKIN ~ Leeta Opal Savage, 92, formerly of 315 Lakeside , died at 1:08 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Pekin Manor.
Born March 30, 1911 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Edgar and Sarah Raby Swecker, she married Steve Savage on December 25, 1930.
She was preceded in death by her husband in July 1974 in West Plains, Missouri ; one daughter, Virginia Ewen on March 29, 2003 in Pekin; four sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Betty Tucker of Morton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ethel Baymiller of Hobart, Michigan.
Mrs. Savage last worked for Hill Glove Company in Peoria, retiring in 1962. Previously, she had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pekin.
She was a former of the First Church of God in West Plains, Missouri and had been a member of the West Plains Garden Club.
She enjoyed traveling, quilting, and crocheting.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at First Church of the Nazarene in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Greg Mason and Rev. Syl Carter will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Oaklawn Cemetery in West Plains, where Rev. Greg Reeder will officiate.

SYLVESTER HORN
(1916~2004)
PEKIN ~ Sylvester George Horn, 87, of 800 Bass Lake Road, New Hope, Minnesota, died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, January 11, 2004 at St. Therese Nursing Home in New Hope, Minnesota. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born October 2, 1916 in Hannibal, Missouri, he married Martha Minor on July 31, 1940 in Pekin. She died February 26, 1993 in Rochester, Minnesota. He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, one brother, and six sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Martha (John) Conrad of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Judy (Bruce) Batchelder of Plantation, Florida, and Julie (Dennis) White of Rhinelander, Wisconsin ; one son, George (Vivian) Horn of Pekin; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Horn worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years, retiring January 1, 1975 as general foreman in the tool crib.
He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Pekin.
He was on the 1935 Pekin Community High School Basketball Team that placed 3rd at state.
He enjoyed fishing and
hunting.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. There will be no visitation.

MINNIE ROWAN
(1914~2004)
PEKIN ~ Minnie May Rowan, 89, formerly of #1 Haussler Court, died at 12:45 a.m., Sunday, January 11, 2004 at Morton Terrace, Ltd.
Born May 1, 1914 in Pekin to Phillip A. and Louise L. Duley Schwinn, she married Walter Murray Rowan on July 27, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 23, 1964 in Pekin; one brother; and two sisters.
Surviving are one sister, Phyllis Taylor of Peru; four nephews; and three nieces.
Mrs. Rowan had worked as a clerk at the Stafford ’s Dairy Store on 8th Street in Pekin during the early 1960’s. Previously, she had been an operator at Middle States Telephone Company in Pekin for several years.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin .
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. The Rev. Krista L. Brockman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

CHARLOTTE DRAKE

PEKIN ~ Charlotte Clara “Lottie” Drake, 99, of 908 Charlotte Street, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born March 18, 1904 in Pekin to August and Jennie Elizabeth Buhs Petrie, she married Walter James Drake on June 30, 1927 in Pekin. He died in June of 1970 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn J. (Harmon) Peaco of Crystal Lake and Joanne C. (Fred) Beckmann of Chicago Heights; eight grandchildren, Deborah L. (Harvey) Barlow of Jessup, Maryland, David E. (Mauri) Peaco of St. Louis, Missouri, James A. Peaco of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, Julie A. (Todd) Kipfer of Bozeman, Montana, Jean E. Peaco of Bellingham, Washington, Dennis D. (Karen) Beckmann of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Kenneth K. (Nancy) Beckmann of Roeland Park, Kansas and Cynthia C. (Bruce) Tracy of Overland Park, Kansas; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Jennie Petrie of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
A homemaker, she worked for the Hinners Organ Company in Pekin prior to her marriage.
She was a member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where she was a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. She also was a member of the choir, the Volunteer Society and the Friendship Circle at her church.
She was a longtime member of the Sand Prairie Home Extension. She was a former member of Church Women United and the Woman’s Choral Group at the former Garfield School.
She enjoyed making Springerle cookies.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Harmen Heeg and Rev. Ralph H. Cordes will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and one half-hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

PEKIN ~ Hugh R. Hosford, 88, of 212 Hamilton Street, died at 11:45 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1915 in Brown County, Illinois to Sam J. and Minnie Petri Hosford.
Surviving are two sisters, Faye Drake of Morton and Cathryn Kirgan of Liberty.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Mr. Hosford worked at Allied Mills in Bartonville for 30 years, retiring in 1981. Previously, he had worked as a farm hand for 11 years in the Cooperstown area.
Private graveside services will be Thursday, January 15, 2004 in Cooperstown Cemetery in Cooperstown. There will be no visitation. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
BARBARA BAILEY

PEKIN ~Barbara Jean Bailey, 69, of 1414 Morton St. died at 11:00 p.m. , Monday, January 5, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born November 7, 1934 in Paxton , Illinois to Charles F. and Mary M. Johnson Stifle, Sr., she married Harold W. Bailey on June 16, 1951 in Pekin .
Surviving are her husband; 3 grandchildren; Shannon A. (Scott) Owens and Harold E. Bailey, both of Pekin , and Amanda L. Bailey of Virden , Illinois ; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Patricia (Patrick) Kerwin of Azusa, California and Sally Livingston of Calahan , Florida ; and 1 brother, Terry L. Stifle of Los Angeles , California .
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Scott Bailey and Grant Bailey; and 2 brothers.
Mrs. Bailey last worked at K-Mart in Morton, retiring as the jewelry manager on May 1, 1993 after 23 years. Previously, she had worked as a waitress at the Elks Lodge and the Tazewell Hotel, both in Pekin.
She attended Grace Baptist Church in Pekin.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and her grandchildren.
Cremation will be accorded. There will be no visitation or services. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

CREVE COEUR ~ Dylan Matthew John Mouck, 5, of 308 Glendale, Creve Coeur, died at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born June 12, 1998 in Peoria to Kenneth John Mouck and Melanie Jane Mouck.
Surviving are his parents of Creve Coeur; one sister, Desiray Kathryn Lynn Mouck of Creve Coeur; paternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Trudy Whitby of Peoria and Verna Lacey of Creve Coeur; maternal grandfather, Harold Mouck of Creve Coeur; one aunt, Amy Mouck of Bartonville; and three uncles, Andy Mouck and Jim Whitby, both of Creve Coeur, and Bob Whitby of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Kathryn Mouck.
Dylan was a student in the Early Childhood Class at Schramm School in Pekin.
He enjoyed bowling and walking.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. Dwayne L. Stuber will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

RAYMOND PROVENZANO
(1927~2004)
PEKIN ~ Raymond Joseph Provenzano, 76, of 1618 Lamar Drive, Pekin, died at 4:13 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born September 6, 1927 in Pershing, Iowa to James and Nellie M. West Provenzano, he married Ann Horner. He later married Carolyn Joyce Oster on May 21, 1986 in Las Vegas , Nevada. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Frank Provenzano of Oklahoma and Tom Provenzano of Fairfield, Iowa; two daughters, Cynthia Provenzano of San Diego, California and Mary Lloyd of Des Moines, Iowa; one step-son, Gary (Vicky) Tuffentsamer of Manito; five grandchildren; two step-grandsons; and one great-grandson.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.
A United States
Army veteran of the
Korean War, he served from November 7, 1950 to February 26, 1954 . He attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a Prisoner of War from November 26, 1951 to August 26, 1953 and received the Purple Heart for wound received in action on November 26, 1951 in Korea.
Mr. Provenzano worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 37 years as a tool grinder in East Peoria, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 of Pekin, Deer Creek American Legion, and the AMVETS in Peoria.
He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, and playing golf.
A funeral mass will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. The Rev. Timothy Nolan will officiate, with a eulogy from Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where a Christian wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded.

PEGGY L. WALKER
(1957~2004)
CREVE COEUR ~ Peggy Lee Smith Walker, 46, of 405 Riverview Drive, Creve Coeur, was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2004 at her home.
Born May 22, 1957 in Peoria to Larry and Louise Hooste Smith, she married Theodore Walker on April 10, 1976 in Creve Coeur. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Creve Coeur; two sons, Christopher Walker and Anthony Walker, both of Creve Coeur; three grandsons; two brothers, Daniel (Teresa) Smith and Ross (Rene) Smith, both of Pekin; and one sister, Lynn (Don) Paul of Creve Coeur.
Her father preceded her in death.
Peggy worked at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for 12 years, last working as an application specialist.
She was of the Catholic faith.
She enjoyed dancing, driving her car, playing cards and blitz, shopping with her mother, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Joseph W. Anderson will officiate. There will be no visitation.

He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Wesley Landon Burget on September 10, 1999 in Peoria and 1 great-grandfather, Ray Lovell.
