PEKIN ~ Roger Owen Trier, Sr., 64, of 1114 South 7th Street , Pekin , died at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2004 at his home.
Born October 19, 1939 in Chicago to Conrad John and Ella Mae Ruppel Trier, he married Patricia Anne Reardon on March 6, 1965 in Jacksonville. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Roger O. (Analyn) Trier , Jr. of Palatine, and Gregory A. (Kathleen) Trier and Douglas E. (Jan) Trier, both of Pekin; five grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Trier of Metamora; and his mother of Washington.
His father preceded him in death.
He was a 1959 graduate of Jacksonville High School.
A United States Air Force veteran, he served from January 26, 1961 to January 25, 1965 . He received Presidential recognition for his contributions and work with the Minute Man Missile.
Mr. Trier worked as a clothing salesman for OshKosh b’Gosh, Inc. for 16 years and later worked as the National Vice President of Sales for Big Smith Brands, Inc., last working in 1998 due to his illness.
He was a past ISHA official and was active in several youth organizations including running the Pekin Track Club for several years, coaching Pekin JFL, Pony League, and numerous basketball leagues. He also was active with Junior Olympics and played on several area basketball teams including the Caterpillar and Green Lantern leagues.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
His greatest gifts in life were his family, friends, and working with kids.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Private family services will be Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded.

PEKIN ~ Wrater G. “Doc” Burton , 97, of 3704 Sheridan Road , died at 10:58 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born January 30, 1907 in Petersburg , Indiana to Matthew and Dessa Mona McDade Burton, he married Sara Pauline Scott on May 8, 1929 in Anderson , Indiana. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Barbara L. (G. Ronald) Runyan of Pekin; four grandchildren, G. Cheryl (Donald) Lewis of Flagstaff, Arizona, Vicki L. Wallin of Fort Myers, Florida, Bradley A. Runyan of Pekin, and Lori A. Schmitt of Keller, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter (Betty Jo Burton in 1931), five brothers, and four sisters.
Mr. Burton worked 29 years as a tool and die maker for the Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson , Indiana , retiring in 1972.
He was a 50 year member of the Anderson Masonic Lodge in Anderson , Indiana. He had attended First United Methodist Church in Fort Myers , Florida.
Masonic services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel with funeral services following. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services and Burial of ashes will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson , Indiana at a later date.

CLYDE C. YOUNG
(1933~2004)
MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Clyde C. Young, 71, of 1102 Lincoln Road , died at 7:02 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born March 31, 1933 in Walnut Grove , Missouri to James Cecil and Zella Marie Kirk Young, he married Theresa Ellen Schnicker on December 28, 1963 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Linda L. (Charles) Earley of Peoria; one son, R. Eugene “Gene” (Dorine) Munsell of Pekin; four grandchildren, Amy L. (Chris) Quisenberry of Morton, Matthew B. Munsell of Pekin, Jarod E. (Amanda) Munsell of South Pekin, and Ian W. Earley of Peoria; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence C. (Anna Jean) Young of Springfield, Missouri and Hubert F. (Betty) Young of Bolivar, Missouri and one step-brother, Fred (Wanda) Carver of Webb City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother (Lucy Mae Young), one brother (Orvil Young), and infant sister (Eliza Ann Young).
A United States
Army veteran of the
Korean War, he served from April 21, 1953 to April 5, 1956 .
Mr. Young worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years, first as a heat treater in building S in East Peoria for 26 years and later as a checker on the loading dock at the Morton Parts Facility for 14 years. He retired December 31, 1991 .
He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin and was a member of the United Autoworkers Local 974 Retirees in East Peoria.
He enjoyed gardening, yard work, and his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Tim Najpaver will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin , where military rites will be accorded.

BRIMFIELD ~ Floyd Alan Dowell, 60, of 10913 West Roseland Lane , died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, April 4, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born January 3, 1944 in Peoria to James A. and Lucy Ditto Dowell, he married Patricia L. Murphy on July 17, 1982 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Tim Dowell of New York and Tom Dowell of Tucson , Arizona ; two daughters, Tammy (Gordon) Fernandez of California and Kerrie (Scott) Ellis of Johnstown, Ohio; six grandchildren; one brother, James Dowell of Kenosha , Wisconsin and three sisters, Susan (Donald) Theinert of Peoria, Eva (Joe) Hinricks of Glasford and Lucy Krus of Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
He had served in the
Army.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, where he worked in building KK in East Peoria , retiring in 1994.
He was a member UAW Local 974.
An avid golfer and sports fan, he was a Chicago Cubs Baseball fan.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. H. David Clark will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

NORTH PEKIN ~ Albert Kent Stauthammer, 54, of 118 Sunset Blvd. died at 1:30 a.m. , Sunday, April 04, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Born April 9, 1949 in Pekin to John and Ida Jessen Stauthammer, he married Bonita Sue “Bonnie” Kirkbride on June 19, 1992 in Groveland.
Surviving are his wife; his parents of Pekin; 1 son, Joseph Stauthammer of Spring Lake; 1 daughter, Tracy Beeney of Spring Lake; 4 step-daughters, Denise Barr of Middletown, Dawn Barr of Delavan, Bonnie Byers of Pekin and Debra Byers of North Pekin; 2 step-sons, Tim (Kim) Barr of Green Valley and Ted (Michele) Barr of Marquette Heights; 11 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Alan (Patty) Stauthammer of Peoria and Marvin (Vicki) Stauthammer of Creve Coeur; and 1 sister, Marie (George) Wiers of Canton.
Mr. Stauthammer worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring from the Morton facility in September 1998.
He served with the U.S.
Army in Viet Nam where he was awarded the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Peoria Sportsmen’s Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. , Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Ralph Cordes will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. , Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

FLOYD J. QUICK
(1906~2004)
PEKIN ~ Floyd James Quick, 98, of 1520 El Camino Drive, died at 8:23 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at Pekin Hospital. He was formerly of 915 Hamilton Street in Pekin.
Born March 1, 1906 in Lamar, Missouri to John and Lizzie Orsnby Quick, he married Eva Mae Davis Perkins on April 8, 1948 in Monticello. She died February 28, 1987 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by one step-daughter (Ruby C. Lichtenberger), one step-grandson, two sisters, and one nephew.
Surviving are one step-daughter, Hazel M. (D. E.) Mylott of Pekin; six step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; sixteen step-great-great-grandchildren; three nieces, Marla Jean (Marion) Stamm of Pekin, Eunice Stamm of Roberts, and Gloria J. Dehm of Florida; and one nephew, Francis Shambrook of Roberts.
Mr. Quick worked for Kriegsman Transfer in Pekin for 14 years, retiring in 1971. He previously was a self-employed truck driver and farmer in Gilman.
He was a retired member of Teamsters & Chauffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria.
He was affiliated with First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brenton Cemetery in Piper City.

ARTHUR N. KENSINGER
(1927~2004)
MORTON ~ Arthur Norman Kensinger, 76, of 304 White Oak Drive in Morton, died at 7:10 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was formerly of 113 Oaklawn Circle in Creve Coeur.
Born December 16, 1927 in Bloomington to Charles N. and Georgia Mae Ames Kensinger, he married Joann Schmider on March 14, 1948 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael (Beverly) Kensinger of Pekin, Rev. Rick Kensinger of Creve Coeur and Randy (Jill) Kensinger of Canton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two brothers, Kenneth (Ethel) Kensinger of Dillon and Glen Kensinger of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a stationary engineer for the USDA Northern Regional Research Lab in Peoria for over 25 years, retiring in 1981. He also owned and operated Kensinger Landscaping in Creve Coeur.
He was a member of Frank N. Nicol Lodge 1170, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois in Creve Coeur. He was a member and clown of Irin Grotto in Pekin. He was a member of Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234 and Martin-Courtney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835 in Creve Coeur. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and with little league baseball in Creve Coeur.
He was an active member of Grace Fellowship Ministries in rural Metamora.
He loved to fish.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Bob Martin and the Rev. Rick Kensinger, his son, will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before services Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded.

MARY E. LISK

MARQUETTE HEIGHTS ~ Mary Elizabeth Lisk, 60, of 206 Grant Road, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.
Born February 6, 1944 in Creston, Iowa to George William and Helen Hawks Johnson, she married James Edwin Lisk on August 16, 1965 in Creston, Iowa. He survives.
Also surviving are twin daughters, Lisa C. (Chris) Mallery of Galesburg and Laurie A. (Roger) Hamilton of Coal Valley; one son, James W. (Michelle) Lisk of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She received an Associates degree from Mount Saint Clair College in Clinton, Iowa.
A homemaker, Mrs. Lisk was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
Private services will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. David Whiteside will officiate. Cremation will be accorded.

WILLIAM L. MOEHRING

PEKIN ~ William Lloyd Moehring, 81, of 1520 El Camino Drive, Pekin, died at 4 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004 at Pekin Manor. He was formerly of 1502 South 4th Street in Pekin.
Born August 11, 1922 in Delavan to William F. and Catherine F. Diekhoff Moehring, he married Beverly June Christensen on November 19, 1944 in Pekin. She died December 4, 1991 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister (LaVerne A. Rockhold).
Surviving are two sons, Eugene P. (Cathy) Moehring of Cobden and David A. (Jeri) Moehring of Pekin; one daughter, Diana L. (Dave) Walters of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, W. Eileen (John) Hazelman of Tremont.
Mr. Moehring worked for Commonwealth Edison at the Powerton Station in Pekin for 37 years, retiring in 1980 as a maintenance foreman. He later worked from 1980 to 1992 for P. S. Olt in Pekin as a duck call maker.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin and the Powerton Playboys. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1271, both of Pekin.
He enjoyed woodworking.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 19, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

CREVE COEUR—Ida Louise Combs, 92, of 132 Apple Ct. died at 9:13 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She had been a Creve Coeur resident since 1936.
Born August 29, 1911 in Peoria to Caroly “Charlie” and Elizabeth Catherine Louise Wegner Herget, she married William John Combs on November 7, 1932 in Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 6, 2001 in Morton; 1 son, David John Combs on September 9, 1993 in Peoria; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 sisters; and 1 brother.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Judith L. (John) Gay, Jr. of Pekin, Loretta J. Parr of Washington, Illinois, and Linda C. (Sam) Wheeler of Creve Coeur; 2 sons, William C. (Becky) Combs and Fredrick K. “Rick” Combs, both of Creve Coeur; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; and 1 sister, Carolyn Faye Herget of Peoria.
Mrs. Combs had worked for the Boss Glove Company in Peoria for many years. Previously, she had worked for Caterpillar, Inc. during World War II.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur where she had been a choir member, soloist, member of the “Tea Pot Band” and a Pioneer Club teacher. She had been active in the PTA at Gerber School in Creve Coeur and she enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur. Rev. David L. Lynn will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 16, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
