CREVE COEUR—Catherine Marie Heaton, 85, of 1110 Newcastle Rd, Washington, Illinois, died at 7:04 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2004 in the emergency room at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was formerly of 565 Dempsey St. in Creve Coeur.

Born August 11, 1919 in Missouri to John and Kathryn Dagon Hauser, she married Jean William Heaton on January 27, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband on January 19, 1997 in East Peoria; 1 son; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 sister; and 1 half-sister.

Surviving are 1 son, Robert A. (Janice) Heaton of Creve Coeur; 2 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Henry (Doris) Hauser of San Diego, California; and 1 half-brother, William (Virginia) Bitner of Hammond, Indiana.

A homemaker, Mrs. Heaton was a member of Weight Watchers in Morton for many years and had served as its treasurer.

She enjoyed flower gardening.

Private services will be held at American Mausoleum in Peoria. There will be no visitation.

FLORENCE E. FUELBERTH
(1914~2004)

PEKIN ~ Florence Elizabeth Fuelberth, 90, of rural Pekin, died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born January 1, 1914 in Circleville, rural Pekin, to Valentine and Florence Myrtle Bequeaith Garmann, she married Walter Adam Fuelberth on April 30, 1936 in rural Pekin. He died February 11, 1983 in rural Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister (Mildred Ripper), and one brother (Herbert Garman).

Surviving are one son, John H. (Barbara) Fuelberth of Pekin; one daughter, Barbara M. Fuelberth of Pekin; two grandchildren, Vonda L. (Patrick) Zehr of Morton and Brian J. (Ann) Fuelberth of Pekin; three great-grandsons, Zachary G. Fuelberth, August S. Fuelberth, and Ryan P. Zehr; one sister, Vera Miller of Delavan; and one brother, Vernon Garman of Pekin.

A homemaker, Mrs. Fuelberth farmed with her husband Southwest of Pekin for many years.

She was a member of Saint John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley, where she was a member of the Epiphany Society and taught Sunday school nursery classes for many years. She was a former volunteer for the Pediatrics Department at Pekin Hospital for many years. She also was a member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau.

She enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens and crocheting. She was a long-time Chicago Cubs baseball fan.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Saint John’s (Sand Prairie) Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley. The Rev. Thomas R. Wenndt and William Krueger, DCE will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran School, 333 State Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

CLIFFORD R. GABEL
(1921~2004)

PEKIN ~ Clifford Richard Gabel, 83, of 1704 North 16th Street, died at 9:22 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at his home.

Born April 21, 1921 in Basco to Herold W. and Florence Minna Gabel, he married Norma Jean Woods in June of 1947. She died November 6, 1992. He later married Mary Irene Churchhill Wrhel on September 9, 1993 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Penny Jean (Jim) Williams of Peoria; two step-sons, Marshall G. Jr. (Kay) Grissom and Dennis R. Grissom, both of Pekin; three step-daughters, Pat Chism of Sikeston, Missouri, Debra Wicks of Taylorville, and Judith Hubble of Kenney; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one step-brother, Daniel Gabel of Carthage; and one step-sister, Cheryl (Dr. Richard) O’Halloran of Warsaw, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother (Hazel LaBonte), and two brothers (Leroy Gabel and Thomas Gabel).

A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the 29th Squadron of the 9th Marine Air Wing.

Mr. Gabel worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1980 as a line inspector at building KK in East Peoria.

He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion, and AMVETS.

He enjoyed ballroom dancing, hunting, and wood craving.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, where military rites will be accorded.

MICHAEL J. JENNINGS, JR.
(1965~2004)

MANITO ~ Michael Jerome “Mick” Jennings, Jr., 38, of 3759 Grandview Ct., died at 3:51 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2004 in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.

Born November 25, 1965 in Watseka to Michael Jerome and Wanda Lou Hedrick Jennings, Sr., he married Jennifer Lee on February 27, 1999 in Groveland.

Surviving are his father of Ashkum, Illinois; mother and step-father, Wanda (Henry “Chico”) Valencia of Manito; grandmothers, Byrtle Webster of Pekin and Bernell Jennings of Ashkum; 4 daughters, Faith Ann (Robert) Trigg of Phoenix, Arizona, Jessica Sheryl Jennings of San Andreas, California, Nikita Nichole Jennings of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Meaghan Renee Jennings of Pekin; 2 sons, Michael David Jennings of San Andreas, and Austin Michael Jennings of Pekin; 2 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gail Lynn (Michael) Buchanan of San Andreas, and Daysi Isamar Valencia of Manito; and 2 brothers, Jerry Michael Jennings of Stockton, California, and Douglas A. Jennings of Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Ann Jennings; his grandfathers; and a step-grandfather.

Mr. Jennings last worked for David Woulfe Carpentry in Green Valley. Previously, he had worked for Kenny Manta Industrial in Pekin for 2 years and had been an independent truck driver.

He enjoyed riding and working on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 27, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the funeral on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to a fund which has been established for his children at Pekin Savings Bank in Pekin.

JUANITA L. LEE
(1932~2004)

PEKIN ~ Juanita Louise Lee, 71, of 2220 State Street, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center in Pekin. She was formerly of 1314 North Allen Street in Bloomington.

She was born December 3, 1932 in Fountain Run, Kentucky to Dewey Armstrong and Alma Lee Benedict Lee.

Surviving are two sisters, Mabel G. Urish and Geraldine D. (Cletus) Gray, both of Pekin; one brother, Wallace F. (Idella) Lee of Green Valley; one sister-in-law, Carol Lee of Green Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father (Henry Harris), and one brother (Walter M. Lee).

Miss Lee worked for Occupational Development Center in Bloomington for 7 years.

She was a past participant in the Special Olympics.

She enjoyed bowling and swimming.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Syl Carter will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Illinois, 605 East Willow Street, Normal, Illinois 61761-2682.

SHIRLEY A. HADSALL
(1938~2004)

PEKIN ~ Shirley Ann Hadsall, 66, of 1305 State St. died at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2004 at her home.

Born August 12, 1938 in Havana, Illinois to Lloyd J. and Hazel M. Lippert Hobbs, she married John H. Hadsall on July 26, 1959 in Maples Mills, Illinois.

Surviving are her husband; her step-mother who raised her, Lucille M. Hobbs of Canton; 1 son, John W. (Renna) Hadsall of Pekin; 1 daughter, Cynthia A. (Devin) Covington of Pekin; 1 granddaughter; 1 brother, Lloyd R. (Carolyn) Hobbs of Canton; and 3 sisters, Beverly Burress of Scottsdale, Arizona, Agnes (Bill) Bath of Little America, and Margaret (Randy) Bancroft of Pekin.

A homemaker, Mrs. Hadsall was a member of the North Pekin Church of the Nazarene, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, a church board member, a member of the kitchen committee and had enjoyed working in the nursery.

She had enjoyed bowling and playing volleyball and was a doll collector.

She had served in the Garfield School PTA and Mothers’ Club.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at North Pekin Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Roger Davis and Rev. Ron McKee will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Waterford Cemetery in rural Lewistown.

GRACE C. SIMPSON
(1910~2004)

PEKIN ~ Grace C. Simpson, 93, of Pekin, died at 8:08 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Pekin Hospital. She was formerly of 1315 Sommerset Street in Pekin.

Born December 25, 1910 in Pekin to Otto and Ida Cuzick Heren, she married Norman Eugene Breaden in 1928. She later married Wallie Wade Simpson on September 18, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He died April 2, 1983 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by one son (Arthur W. Breaden), one daughter (Norma Jean Onken), two brothers, and one sister.

Surviving are five step-daughters, Mary Etta (Raymond) Bechtel, Betty Pruvost, Marie (Robert) Hacker, Barbara (Edward) Long, all of Pekin, and Donna (James) Anderson of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren, Patricia J. “Patty” (John) Pfeiffer of Northfield, Minnesota, F. Christopher (Rebecca) Onken of Pekin, and Wallie Breaden and Daniel (Nancy) Breaden, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; many step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and many step-great-grandchildren.

She worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin for many years until her retirement. She was a member Pocahontas and the Celestial City Riders.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004. The Rev. Krista L. Brockman will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Entombment will be in Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin.

Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 503 North 4th Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554 or to the Pekin Union Mission Society, 203 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

B. ELOISE RAMPLEY
(1919~2004)

GREEN VALLEY ~ B. Eloise Rampley, 85, of 10635 Illinois Route 29, died at 8:50 p.m., Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Hallmark Nursing Center in Pekin.

Born August 15, 1919 in Bentley, Illinois to James and Lelia Langford Clark, she married Gaylyn H. Rampley on October 30, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa.

Surviving are her husband; 2 daughters, Sharon (Gerald) Notzke of Kernerville, North Carolina and Sue (Richard) Hoerr of Casa Grande, Arizona; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and 2 sisters, Gladys Smith of Roseville, Illinois and Bernita Smith of Carthage, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother.

Mrs. Rampley had worked for Pekin Hospital for 10 years, retiring as a ward clerk in 1975. Previously, she had been a beauty operator in Bowen, Illinois for several years.

She was a member of the Maranatha Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, where she had been a member since 1942.

She was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees and the UAW Retirees.

She enjoyed sewing

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Visitation will be form 1:15 to 2:15 p.m., at the church. Entombment will be in American Mausoleum in Peoria.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church.

Preston-Hanley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CARY W. ANDERSON
(1964~2004)

PEKIN ~ Cary Wilbur Anderson, 40, of 1316 Veerman Street in Pekin, died at 7:59 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born April 14, 1964 in Peoria to Harry W. and Betty June Winchell Anderson. His parents and one half-sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are one half-sister, Linda (Garry) Fanning of Morton; seven half-brothers, Jimmy McCullough of Peoria, Charles McCullough of East Peoria, William (Connie) McCullough, David McCullough, both of Pekin, Mike Anderson of East Peoria, Danny Anderson and Andy Anderson and many nieces and nephews.

He was of the Christian faith.

He formerly worked as a nursing home aide.

He liked to ride his Harley Davidson motorcyle, loved his dogs, enjoyed gardening and working on his computer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

JOSEPH P. EOFF
(1939~2004)

Joseph T. Eoff, 65, of Pearland, Texas passed away on August 18, 2004 during a stay in Laredo, Texas, where he was working with Pogo Producing Company. He had been in failing health for many years.

He was born on May 13, 1939 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Ralph and Ester Eoff. His parents preceded him in death. One brother also preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Margaret L. Messer Eoff; two sons, Michael W. (Stephanie) Eoff of Houston, Texas and Dale (Christina) Lutz of Havana; two daughters, Deborah Eoff of Houston, Texas and Shelly (Ron) Kettle of West Jersey; many grandchildren; one brother, Jim Eoff of Colorado and one sister, Carolyn Hook of Oklahoma. He also leaves his extended family.

Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
