PEKIN ~ Sandra Sue Wolfe, 53, of 204 North 10th Street, died at 4:58 a.m. Sunday, December 19, 2004 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born May 31, 1951 in Pekin to Henry Dale and Merle Edith Hoyle Oates, she married Larry Alan Wolfe on September 1, 1991 in Groveland. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Merle Shelton of Pekin; two sons, Troy L. (Regina) Stone of Pekin and Bradley A. (Shawna) Stone, Sr. of Peoria; one step-son, Mark A. Wolfe of Pekin; one step-daughter, Stacey L. (Bob) Oday of Peoria; seven grandchildren; one brother, Dale A. (Vi Jessa) Oates of Manito; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, step-father (Richard Shelton), and one nephew.
She worked at the Derby Street Laundry in Pekin as an attendant for 10 years. She later worked as a waitress for Pekin Spudnut for 6 years. She last tended bar at the Midway Tap in rural Pekin for the past 2 years, last working Friday.
She was a member of the Harley Davidson Owners Group (HOG) and the ABATE Free Birds Chapter in Mason County.
She enjoyed collecting quilts, Boyds Bears, and Betty Boop items.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Entombment will be in the Glendale Memorial Gardens Chapel of Dreams Mausoleum in Pekin.

JOHN D. TRUEBLOOD
(1954~2004)
MORTON—John David Trueblood, 50 of 4531 Mt. Pellier Dr., Pensacola, Florida, died at 4:32 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2004 at his home. He was formerly of Morton.
He was born June 17, 1954 in Pekin to Oce “June” and Mable Eileen Myers Trueblood.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; 2 nieces; and 1 great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his father; 1 sister; and 2 brothers.
A 1972 graduate of Morton High School, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from City College in Pensacola in 1976.
He was currently the vice president of operations for Parametric Systems, Inc., a designer of pollution control systems, where he had worked for the last 10 years. Previously, he had worked for Spectrum Systems, Inc.
He was an avid sports fan, fisherman, and sailor.
Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Cremation has been accorded.

CAROL B. WALKER
(1917~2004)
PEKIN, IL ~ Carol B. Walker, 86, a resident of Hopedale Nursing Home, died there at 8:12 a.m., Monday, December 13, 2004. She was formerly of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and Atlantic, Iowa.
Born December 17, 1917 in Gravity, Iowa to Elmer S. and Ressie Selders Brown, she married Meredith W. Walker, who died May 13, 2002 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She was also preceded in death by 1 sister.
Surviving are 1 daughter, Alice (Joe) Doyle of Boulder, Colorado; 1 son, James Walker of Pekin; and 2 grandsons, Patrick Doyle of Boulder and Andrew Doyle of Denver.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Atlantic, Iowa.
A homemaker, Mrs. Walker had also been a pianist and organist for several churches and funeral homes in Iowa. Prior to her marriage, she had been a school teacher.
Cremation has been accorded.
Graveside services will be at held at a later date at Washington Township Cemetery in Gravity, Iowa. There will be no visitation or funeral services.

DAVID E. WAGNER
(1949~2004)
SOUTH PEKIN ~ David Eugene Wagner, 55, of 109 5th Street, died at 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born April 25, 1949 in Pekin to George Anderson and Martha Lorraine Howell Wagner, Jr., he married Marsha Lynn Workman on April 29, 1967 in Pekin.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; one son, David Alan Wagner of Pekin; one granddaughter, Kiera Lynn Rhoades of North Pekin; one sister, Carol Eileen “Toots” (Daniel) Cruikshank of Pekin; and one niece, Amy Joann Cruikshank of Pekin.
His father preceded him in death on May 2, 1974 in Hopedale.
Mr. Wagner was a member of Laborer’s Local #231 in Pekin since December 28, 1978. He last worked for Ghelardini, Inc. in Pekin on December 1, 2004. He also had worked for Ted Goodin Plastering. In earlier years, he worked at the American Distilling Company in Pekin.
He enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles and was a Chicago Bears football fan.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. will officiate. Cremation will be accorded.

KAREN S. WARD
(1958~2005)
EAST PEORIA ~ Karen Sue Ward, 46, of 300 Arnold Avenue, Apartment 3, was pronounced dead at 10:11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005 in East Peoria.
She was born April 19, 1958 in Fort Ord, California to Sherman Franklin and Bonita Virginia Jones Ward.
Surviving are one son, Steven R. Cusac of East Peoria; one daughter, Stephanie S. (Nathan) Mordhorst of Washington; five brothers, Billy F. Ward of East Peoria, Tom F. (Claudia) Ward of Leslie, Arkansas, Donnie L. (Kim) Ward of Canton, David A. Ward of Morning Star, Arkansas, and Sean E. (Dawn) Ward of Pekin; and three sisters, Ruth Ann Trent of Peoria, Bonnie L. (Stephen) Short of Brimfield, and Debra L. (Kim) Wiese of Norman, Oklahoma.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A licensed cosmetologist, she had worked at several area salons including Regis Salon in Pekin and Chicago Hair Cutting Company in East Peoria.
She was of the Christian faith and enjoyed reading the bible and listening to gospel music. She also enjoyed fishing and crocheting.
Private funeral services and visitation will be Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Donald L. Blasing will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

ERNEST J. STEPHENS

PEORIA—Ernest Jackson Stephens, 78, of 8508 S. Powell Rd. in Hollis Township, died at 12:45 a.m., Sunday, February 20, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born November 16, 1926 in Marion, Illinois to Jacob and Ruth Turnage Stephens, he married Catherine Shadowens on May 28, 1948 in Oceola, Arkansas. She died June 28, 2000 in Peoria. He later married Mary Brimmer Givens in August 2000 in Kentucky.
Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Joyce (Tearry) Smith of Glasford, Debra (William) Tibbs of Mapleton, and Rebecca (Bill) Pierce of Athens, Illinois; 2 sons, Bennie Stephens of Peoria and E. Gordon (Debra) Stephens of Glasford; 1 step-daughter, Joy (Aziz) Jamaluddin of Houston, Texas; and 1 step-son, Roy Stephens, also of Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Douglas Stephens of Indian Valley, Idaho, J. Lester (Betty) Stephens of Pekin; J. Lawrence (Claudette) Stephens of W. Frankfort, Indiana, Franklin (Mildred) Stephens of Eustis, Florida, and Walter (Meredith) Stephens of Bloomington, Illinois; and 2 sisters, Helena Bullock of Pekin and Mildred (Jim) Clark of Normal.
He was also preceded in death by 1 brother.
Mr. Stephens worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 40 years, 4 months, retiring from the shipping dock at the Mapleton foundry on January 1, 1991.
He served in the U.S.
Army during World War II as a paratrooper in both the 11th Airborn Division and the 82nd Airborn Division.
He was a member in good standing of the United Auto Workers Local 974 in East Peoria.
Cremation will be accorded.
Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the Pavillion in Butler-Haynes Park in Mapleton.

PEARL K. JOHNSON
(1914~2005)
PEKIN ~ Pearl K. Johnson, 90, of Pekin, died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born June 2, 1914 in Cairo to Elsey and Cora Little Johnson, she married Harvey A. Johnson on May 13, 1953. He died October 25, 1972 in Pekin.
Surviving are one brother; one sister; her companion, Verlin L. “Rusty” Williams, with whom she made her home, and her caretakers, Debe (Bo) Milburn and Hayley Milburn, all of Pekin.
Mrs. Johnson worked in childcare for many years. She also cleaned for several businesses in Pekin.
Private services were held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2005. The Rev. Paul Myers officiated. Burial was in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

VERNON K. ATHENS
(1942~2005)
CREVE COEUR ~ Vernon Keith Athens, 62, of 933 Pekin Avenue, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at Fondulac Woods Health Care in East Peoria.
He was born May 25, 1942 in Peoria to Walter G. and Sophia Mary Doering Athens.
Surviving are one brother, Walter G. (Yvonne) Athens of Creve Coeur and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother (Frank Athens) and one sister (Marlene Curley).
He worked for the Peoria Production Shop for over 30 years as an assembler, retiring in September of 2003.
He was a woodworker and loved to garden.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

DEBORAH WYATT

PEKIN—Deborah Ann Wyatt, 45, of 906 Monroe St. died at 9:05 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born December 18, 1959 in Pekin to Thomas L. and Evelyn N. Bruce Wyatt.
Surviving are her parents of Pekin; 2 brothers, Dennis (Marla) Wyatt of East Peoria and David (Lynn) Wyatt of Manito; and 3 nieces, Stefanie Wyatt and Tonya Wyatt, both of East Peoria, and Heather Wyatt of Manito.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
She had last worked as a certified occupational therapy assistant at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet in 1990. Previously, she had worked at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, and at several area nursing homes.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where she served as a certified lay speaker, a Stephen minister, and a bible studies teacher. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Mary-Martha Circle, and had served on several church committees.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 19, 2005 at her church. Rev. Terry Edele and Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel and 30 minutes prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

TOM BRASHIER
(1933 ~ 2005)
NORTH PEKIN ~ Tom Brashier, Jr., 71, of 343 Highway Boulevard, died at 4:47 p.m., Monday, February 14, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born April 12, 1933 in Hardin County, Tennessee to Tom and Annie Hamilton Brashier, Sr., he married Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Hunt on June 5, 1954 in Corinth, Mississippi. She survives.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Mitchell Wade Brashier and Brooke Elizabeth Brashier, both of San Jose; his daughter-in-law, Holly D. Brashier of San Jose; one brother, Bill Brashier of Florence, Alabama and one sister, Dorothy Ann (Albert) Crowell of South Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Gene Brashier on January 27, 2005 in Peoria; two brothers and one sister.
He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1998 as a machinist at Mossville.
He was a member of the McArthur Drive Baptist Church in North Pekin.
He loved to fish and was an avid pheasant and quail hunter. He was a former member of Frank N. Nicol Lodge 1170, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in Creve Coeur.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Bobby E. Barnhill will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brashier Children Benefit Fund in care of Associated Bank.
