EULAINE T. TADLOCK
(1921~2005)

SOUTH PEKIN ~ Eulaine Theodora Tadlock, 83, of 210 Ripper Street, died at 8:25 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born November 16, 1921 in Manhattan, Illinois to Theodore and Elizabeth Gertner Williams, she married Robert Brannon in 1946 in Salem, Illinois. She later married George Tadlock in 1953 in Salem.

Surviving are two daughters, Sandra S. Dains and Deanna D. Pasco, both of South Pekin; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She worked as a waitress for 50 years in Arkansas and Salem.

She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Peoria.

There will be no visitation or services. Cremation will be accorded.

Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

WILMA J. SHOUP
(1912~2005)

PEKIN— Wilma J. Shoup, 92, of 2400 N. 8th St., died at 12:35 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.

Born April 18, 1912 in Petersburg, Illinois to Charles and Rilla Mae Nation Bong, she married Glen Morris on July 14, 1929 in Peoria. He died August 18, 1943 in Creve Coeur. She later married Lewis S. “Bud” Shoup on October 15, 1955 in Hernando, Mississippi. He died November 1, 1978 in Pekin.

Surviving are 1 son, Gene E. (Shirley) Morris of Pekin; 1 step-son, Larry (Helen) Shoup of New Berlin, Wisconsin; 2 step-daughters, Beverly (Roy) Hasenjaeger of Cincinnati, Ohio and Gloria Shoup of Morton; 2 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 6 step-great-great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Otto Bong and Harry (Delores) Bong, both of Pekin, and Richard (Patricia) Bong of Tremont.

She was also preceded in death by 1 son, Donald L. Morris; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.

Mrs. Shoup worked in the accounts receivable office at Sears in Peoria for 22 years, until retiring in 1972.

She was a member of the Pekin Women of the Moose Chapter 673 and was a former member and past treasurer at Miller Senior Citizens Center in Pekin.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan and Bingo player.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

MARTHA (BAUMGARDNER) BUTLER
(1922~2005)

Martha L. Baumgardner Butler, 82, a native of Mason City and a longtime resident of Peoria, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in rural San Jose.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or to the Apostolic Christian Restmor, 935 East Jefferson Street, Morton, Illinois 61550.

She was the daughter of George H. and Amy Matilda Goodin Baumgardner. She married Bill Butler of DeLuxe Mobile Homes in 1959. He is deceased.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Jo Royer of Peoria, and three grandchildren, Justin Royer, Brandon Royer and Felicia Royer, as well as one great-grandson, Cameron. Other survivors include a brother, Dr. Carl H. Baumgardner (Mary) of Mount Pleasant, Michigan and a sister, Betty “Nip” Baumgardner of Bloomington, as well as special friend and care-giver, Diana K. Chiles of Bloomington. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Other surviving family members and friends who were very special to her include Bill Steakley (Parichard), Brad Steakley (Chloe), Darla Lawson (Woody), Donnie Atherton, Walt and Geri Atherton, Donna Chiles, Sue Gunder, Jacqie and Dick Sears, Jean Pankonin, Ola Bundy, Mryna Stephens, Steve Reinholdt and Colleen Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Edna M. Atherton-Bailey, Marie Andrew (Bill), Hazel Helen Baumgardner, Wilma M. DeWeese (Tom) and Shirley Jean Steakley (Jim), as well as two brothers, Raymond Dallas Baumgardner (Esther) and George Edward “Pat” Baumgardner, as well as the late James E. Steakley whom she considered a brother.

Mrs. Butler experienced a number of jobs and interests throughout her lifetime. She managed Mathews Music Shop in Champaign, headed a millenary department at Bergners in Peoria, and later worked with Bill Butler, successfully operating a number of DeLuxe Mobile Home sales, services and parks in several central Illinois towns with Peoria as their home base. Her flair for style and design in interior decorating was well-recognized. She was an avid golfer, world traveler, bridge player, and water aerobics enthusiast.

Mart loved her family and she spent much time with her grandchildren in their early years. She was a very caring person who quietly helped others whenever she could. Her compassion for people triggered many unselfish deeds on her part. Her generosity with her time and energy made her a special friend. She was spirited, competitive, involved and fun. She’ll forever be young at heart.

Martha was a member of the Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peoria, since 1973.

KENNETH D. JANSEN
(1938~2005)

PEKIN ~ Kenneth D. Jansen, 67, of 2816 Sheridan Road, died at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at his home.

Born January 21, 1938 in Pekin to William D. and Helen Marie Nedderman Jansen, he married Marcia B. Groen Fabry on March 19, 1974 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Lynn Ann Jansen of Tinley Park; one step-son, Jeff B. (Teri) Fabry of Peoria; one step-daughter, Laura E. (Andrew) Preston of Portland, Oregon; three grandchildren, Jacqueline M. Fabry of Peoria, and Margaret E. Preston and Helen A. Preston, both of Portland, Oregon; one brother, William Dean (Nora) Jansen of Las Vegas, Nevada; and one sister, Marilyn Jansen-Smith of Traverse City, Michigan.

His parents preceded him in death.

He served in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1964.

He received a building construction certificate from Bradley University in Peoria.

A carpenter since 1956, Mr. Jansen worked for Bob Bonk for 7 years, Art Schramm for 6 years, was a self-employed contractor from 1969 to 1981, and later built and repaired furniture.

He was a member of the Pekin Lodge #29 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916, and Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #1271, all in Pekin, and the Mohammed Temple Shrine in Bartonville. He was a retired member of Carpenters Local #644 in Pekin.

An outdoorsman, he enjoyed gardening, yardcare, and ice skating. He formerly enjoyed hunting.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 2816 Sheridan Road in Pekin. Cremation will be accorded. There will be no services.

Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Midwest Affiliate, 4722 North Sheridan Road, Peoria, Illinois 61614 or OSF Saint Francis Hospice, 2265 West Altorfer Drive, Peoria, Illinois 61615.

ROBERT E. TUCKER
(1927~2005)

MAPLETON— Robert Eugene Tucker, 78, of 7516 W. Wheeler Rd. died at 11:13 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.

Born January 14, 1927 in Mapleton to Roy and Mary Elizabeth Jones Tucker, he married Mary Ethel Lawson on August 13, 1949 in Peoria.

Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Yvonne L. Waldrop of Mapleton; 1 son, David L. Tucker of Mapleton; 1 grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by 7 brothers; and 1 sister.

A member of Laborers Union Locals #165 in Peoria and #231 in Pekin for over 60 years, he had worked for Janssen and Schaffer Construction in Pekin, Jobst Construction in Peoria, and R.A. Cullinan and Sons, Inc. in Tremont.

He served in the U.S. Army Japanese Occupation Force at the end of World War II.

He enjoyed gardening and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and University of Illinois basketball.

Private graveside services will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.

PHILLIP L. COFFRIN
(1936~2005)

PEKIN ~ Phillip Leslie “Phil” Coffrin, 68, of 2706 Overhill Drive, died at 8:22 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 14, 1936 in Keokuk, Iowa to Samuel Leslie and Jewell Evelyn Day Coffrin, he married Sandra Kay “Sandy” Marlow on June 26, 1964 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Pekin; two sons, Brian L. “Deb” Coffrin of Peoria and Gregory S. Coffrin of Pekin; one daughter, Cynthia M. “Cindy” (Jeff) Gress of Mapleton; and three grandchildren, Joshua A. Gress and Jonathan D. Gress, both of Mapleton, and Samantha C. Coffrin of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his father on April 23, 1989 in Memphis, Missouri and one infant daughter (Nola R. Coffrin in 1957).

Mr. Coffrin owned and operated Midstate Heating and Cooling in Pekin since 1971. He also worked for Trouble Free Plumbing, Heating and Cooling in Pekin since October 2004. Previously, he worked for Drum Transport in East Peoria and Newlun Transport in Pekin from 1964 to 1974 where he was operations manager.

He did missionary work for Bearing Precious Seed of Milford, Ohio. He also did missionary work in Haiti and had a college named after him in Cape-Haitian, Haiti.

He was a member of Bayview Baptist Church in Washington. He was a charter member of both the Christian Business Men in Pekin and the Contractors Success Group, where he received the Contractor of the Year for 1997. He was a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin for 38 years, where he was a trustee for over 30 years, past Sunday School Superintendent, was instrumental in beginning the Bus Ministry, had served on the building committee, and also had served on the board for Faith Baptist Christian School in Pekin.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2005 at Bayview Baptist Church, 22648 Grosenbach Road, Washington. The Rev. Keith D. Thibo and Rev. David J. Wetterlund will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March31, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and 30 minutes before services Friday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bearing Precious Seed, 1369 Woodville Pike, Milford, Ohio 45150.

ALBERT L. KREILING
(1917~2005)

PEKIN ~ Albert L. Kreiling, 87, of 2501 Allentown Road, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center. He was formerly of 1407 Loretta Street in Pekin.

Born December 13, 1917 in Forest City to George and Ethel Ellen Berger Kreiling, he married Dolores Marie Beard on July 4, 1950 in Manito. She died March 29, 2004 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter (Sandra Kreiling), three brothers, and four sisters.

Surviving are two daughters, Debbie K. (George) Cornwell of Pekin and Linda L. (Michael) Stiltz of Forest City; one grandchild; three step-grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Mr. Kreiling was a self-employed mechanic for over 60 years, retiring in 1988.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Private graveside services will be Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

JACOB F. PENNING
(1933~2005)

PEKIN ~ Jacob Frederick “Jake” Penning, 71, of 1119 Hamilton Street, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.

Born July 3, 1933 in Pekin to Charles William and Doris Bloomer Penning, he married Margaret Reis on July 3, 1955 in Fall River, Massachusetts. She survives.

Also surviving are five daughters, Charlene (Mike) Lane and Josephine (Ronnie) Gilchrist, both of Pekin, Margie (Jeff) Schappaugh of Forest City, Debra (Brad) Maquet of Del Valle, Texas, and Shirley (Steven) Curry of Burleson, Texas; three sons, Jacob (Susan) Penning, Jr. of Canal Winchester, Ohio, Skip (Stephani) Penning of Pekin, and Glen (Shelly) Penning of East Peoria; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Ella Breaden, Ivy Lelm, Betty Haller, and Sadie (Gerald) Moll, all of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

A United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1951 to 1966.

Mr. Penning worked for the City of Pekin Street Department for twenty-five years, retiring in 1993.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Pekin and Teamsters & Chauffeurs Union Local #627 in Peoria. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1869, both in Pekin.

An avid sports fan, he was past president and coach of the Pekin Pony League for 12 years and was a basketball official for 25 years.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Donald R. Ridgeway will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jacob Penning Memorial Fund in care of Herget National Bank, Post Office Box 839, Pekin, Illinois 61555-0839.

MARIE E. CLINEBELL
(1904~2005)

PEKIN ~ Marie Elizabeth Clinebell, 100, of 2501 Allentown Road, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. She was formerly of 1512 Loretta Street in Pekin.

Born November 29, 1904 in Peoria County to Seabo Cornelius and Katharine Marie Janssen Voss, she married Emerson Roscoe Clinebell on October 4, 1924 in Wyoming, Illinois. He died November 20, 1994 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by one son (Norval G. Clinebell on May 10, 1992 in Mesa, Arizona), one daughter (Lois P. Clinebell on May 7, 1978 in Peoria), and two brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Eldon E. (Mary) Clinebell of Pekin and Virgil L. (Norma) Clinebell of Loveland, Colorado; three daughters, June M. (Ross Keller) Parr-Keller and Linda L. (Ronald) Lipsey, both of Pekin, and Carol A. (Alan) Gordon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was a 1923 graduate of Glasford High School.

A homemaker, Mrs. Clinebell was a member of Victorious Life Evangelical Bible Church in East Peoria.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and studying the Bible.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, with James Schoonover officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in rural Glasford.

KAREN J. SAAL
(1962~2005)

EDWARDS ~ Karen Jean Saal, 43, of 9912 West Layne Street, died at 3:25 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005 at her home.

Born February 18, 1962 in Peoria to Edmond and Phyllis Farmer, she married Steven Baker in April of 1979 in Sunnyland. She later married Robert McCarthy in May of 1984 in Deer Creek. She last married Eugene Saal in February of 1995 in Bloomington.

Surviving are her mother and step-father, Phyllis and George Mullen of Deer Creek; one son, Chad Baker of Marquette Heights; one daughter, Catreena McCarthy of East Peoria; one sister, Carol Horne of Pekin; and one half-sister, Rhonda Louden of Riverside, California.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

A homemaker, Karen enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing, gardening, and working with crafts.

She attended the Edwards United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Keith Moore will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services.
