PEKIN ~ Deborah Ann Marshall, 46, of 339 St. Julian Street, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born February 14, 1959 in Springfield to George P. and Marilyn A. Sturm Tisdale, she married James Marshall on October 3, 1999 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Marilyn Tisdale of Pekin; one daughter, Shanon Wolf of Morton; three sons, Shawn McClure, Terry R. “T.J.” Tisdale, Jr., and Jeremy Tisdale, all of Pekin; four grandchildren; three brothers, Jimmy (Yumi) Tisdale of Woodward, Oklahoma, Gregory (Mary) Tisdale of Pekin and Marty (Jody) Tisdale of Manito and two sisters, Kelly (Vince) Peters of Pekin and Jody (James) Jorgensen of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Mary L. Tisdale.
She was a dialysis technician for the Renal Care Group, formerly the Midwest Kidney Center, since 1999, last working April 12th. She previously worked for Heartcare Midwest at Proctor Hospital in Peoria for 4 years and eleven years at Pekin Hospital.
She had attended Mid-state College in Peoria, where she was on the dean’s list. She enjoyed crafts, oil painting, tatting and woodworking.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Mark A. Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.

THOMAS FLISS
(1952 ~ 2005)
TREMONT ~ Thomas Eugene Fliss, 53, of 27110 Allentown Road, died at 8:34 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born March 23, 1952 in Huron, South Dakota to Wesley and Norma Jean Nelson Fliss, he married Teresa Ann Wells on February 23, 1991 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one son, Thomas Nelson Fliss of Tremont; one brother, Michael Fliss of Leaf River, Illinois and two nieces.
For the past 25 years he has worked for M & W Contractors in Creve Coeur as shop supervisor. He also owned and operated Mobile Maintenance Service, a heavy equipment repair business, based from his home. He was an OSHA certified crane inspector and a master truck technician.
He enjoyed golfing 
and watching NASCAR racing.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Daniel B. Tuhy will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
RUSSELL MASON
(1932 ~ 2005)
PEORIA ~ Russell Leonard Mason, 72, of 5301 South Croy Lane, rural Peoria, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005 at his residence.
Born May 7, 1932 in Glasford to Maurice and Clara Jane Payne Mason, he married his high school sweetheart from Timber Township, Constance M. Croy on January 18, 1953 in Kingston Mines. She survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Russell Kirk (Kelly Hutson) Mason of Kennesaw, Georgia, Dale Thomas (Karen Taylor) Mason of Florence, Kentucky and Shawn Bradley (Michelle Sauder) Mason of Lexington; ten grandchildren, Ariel Mason, Hutson Mason, Daulton Mason, all of Kennesaw, April Mason, Kristin Mason, Analisa Mason, Taylor Mason, all of Florence, Kentucky, Reagan Mason, Morgan Mason and Colton Mason, all of Lexington; one brother, Curtis Clifford "Babe" (Lois) Mason of Mapleton and his sister-in-law, Marjorie Mason of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Fred Mason and one sister, Corrine Harper.
He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Mason was a graduate of Bradley University in Peoria with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
He was a State Farm insurance agent in Peoria for thirty-five years, retiring in 1997. With State Farm, he was repeatedly recognized by State Farm Corporate for his contributions to streamline agency practices company wide.
He was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where he was a longtime usher and also an officer in the I John 1:3 class.
He was a member and officer in the Peoria Chapter of the Christian Businessmen's Committee. He had served as a trustee for the Limestone Walters Water District.
He was an avid Bradley Braves Basketball fan.
Christ and family were the most important aspects of his life!
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. The Rev. Douglas A. Lightly will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery, with military rites accorded by Glasford American Legion Post 35.

DOROTHY RUSHING
(1920 ~ 2005)
Dorothy Ellen Rushing, 85, joined her Heavenly Father and beloved Husband and Sons on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. She is at last at peace and free of the earthly ills that had befallen her these past years.
Dorothy was born in Kingston Mines, Illinois, oldest daughter of John and Emma Mae Kingsley Hootman. Her early years were spent sharing the joys of childhood with ten Brothers and one Sister until she met the love of her life. Dorothy and Robert Thomas Rushing married on March 6, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri enjoying each other for 45 years, and raising three sons, until his passing in 1984. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Robert T., her son Michael Dennis, her son Gerald Duane and his wife of 32 years, Marie, and nine brothers. She leaves a loving memory with the oldest Son, Bob Rushing of Suntree Florida, her younger Sister Betty Breier of New Lothrup, Michigan, and her older Brother, Art Hootman of Pekin, Illinois as well as eight Grandchildren, and sixteen Great Grandchildren.
Dorothy was a kind and gentle soul, sharing and caring, earning the admiration of nearly everyone she met. She had a special place for animals and pets, often feeding the local wildlife and over the years enjoying the company of poodles, beagles, terriers and Chihuahuas. Dorothy was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. She resided in Pekin and the surrounding area for nearly 75 years. During her homemaker years, she occasionally ventured into the workplace as a Pekin telephone switchboard operator, a cashier at Kroger, and part time bartender/co-owner of a small tavern on Court Street. Dorothy had a great love for music and dancing, so often caught tapping her toes or singing and yodeling to the latest Country song. Dorothy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Her Son, Bob, and his wife, Flora Ruth, with whom she spent her last few years in Florida, will especially miss her.
Dorothy is returning to Glendale Memorial Gardens to rest beside her husband and son, Michael. A service has been planned for 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005 in the Glendale Memorial Gardens Chapel of Dreams. Following interment, a family and friends reception is also planned at the Concord Inn from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. that same day.

THELMA DARNELL
(1932 ~ 2005)
TOPEKA ~ Thelma Geneva Darnell, 72, of 21910 Lake Street, died at 9:31 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at Hopedale Hospital in Hopedale. She was formerly of 13693 Second Street, Midway Addition, Pekin.
Born October 18, 1932 in Fredonia, Kentucky to Roy Clarence and Odie E. Brinkley Donelson, she married Frank Darnell on May 26, 1950 in Fredonia, Kentucky. He died December 19, 1999 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Surviving are three sons, F. Leroy Darnell of Pekin, and L. Harold Smith and F. Gene (Donna Mae) Darnell, both of Topeka; one daughter, Carrie L. Bell of Truman, Arkansas; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy (Judy) Donelson of Sioux City, Iowa; and three sisters, Betty J. (Lee) Huskisson of Reedsville, Georgia, Wanda S. (Lorn) Smith of Kuttawa, Kentucky, and Brenda J. Vincent of Pekin.
A homemaker, Mrs. Darnell enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and writing in her journal.
She was a member of Sand Ridge Community Church in Topeka. She was a former member of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Pekin.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. John M. Duden, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

MERLE SCHATSIEK
(1925 ~ 2005)
CREVE COEUR ~ Merle Gene Schatsiek, 79, of 201 Lawnridge Drive, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born June 28, 1925 in Quincy to Edward H. and Stella F. Kroner Schatsiek, he married Catherine Mae Cosgrove on September 9, 1950 in Quincy. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Kay (David) Stimpson of Whitewater, Wisconsin and Ann Marie (John) Skender of Peoria; three sons, Steven Michael (Karen) Schatsiek of Bartonville, Mark Eugene (Sandy) Schatsiek of Washington, and Thomas Paul (Jane) Schatsiek of Dunlap; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter (Mary Catherine Schatsiek), and one brother (Lester Schatsiek).
A United States
Army veteran of World War II, he served from September 22, 1943 to February 11, 1946. He played French horn in the 249th
Army Ground Forces Band.
Mr. Schatsiek owned and operated Morton Machining and Manufacturing since 1959, retiring in 2002. In prior years that business was known as Peoria Pattern, where it was operated out of the basement of Tyler Haines’ home in Peoria and later at Mr. Schatsiek’s garage in Creve Coeur. In 1962 the business was moved to Pekin and last moved to Morton in 1986. Previously he worked at Central Pattern in Quincy and Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for eight years.
He was a member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and the Creve Coeur American Legion Post #1234. He also was a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus Archbishop Schlarman Council #3507 in Pekin. He was a former member of the Creve Coeur Lions Club and the Creve Coeur Zoning Board. He was a past trustee of the Creve Coeur Library.
He enjoyed music and playing the French horn.
A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Joseph W. Anderson will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Calvary Cemetery in Quincy.
Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

PEKIN ~ David Lee Graves, 31, of 10 South 2nd Street, #10, died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born June 12, 1973 in Pekin to Larry H. and Mona D. Fildes Graves, he married MaryAnn Jimerson on October 29, 1994 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Pekin ; two sons, Brennan S. Graves and Jacob A. Graves, both of Pekin ; one daughter, Addisyn R. Graves of Pekin ; one brother, Eric B. Graves of Pekin; two sisters, Tawnya C. Graves and Tracy N. Graves, both of Pekin and his paternal grandparents, Dorsey “Bud” and Joyce Graves of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents.
He was a graphic artist at the T-Shirt House in Pekin, last working in April.
He was a member of First Assembly of God in Pekin, where he served the church by volunteering in the nursery.
A devoted father, he loved spending time with his children. He also enjoyed drawing.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at First Assembly of God in Pekin. The Rev. Quinn E. McKenzie will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and also 30 minutes before services Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

WILLIS HYATT
(1927~2005)
PEKIN ~ Willis Gordon Hyatt, 78, of 114 Thrush Avenue, died at 11:17 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2005 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.
Born March 2, 1927 in Pekin to Gordon Samuel and Maude Miller Hyatt, he married Viola Mae Gehrls on June 20, 1948 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rebecca K. “Becky” (Willis “Bud”) Moore and Tamara A. “Tammy” (Larry) Sayles, both of Pekin ; one son, Lindsey G. (Valari) Hyatt of Pekin; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Mildred “Millie” (Tom) Conroy of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters (Loraine Hyatt and Verneal Wilder).
A United States
Army veteran of World War II, he served from May 9, 1945 to December 11, 1946 . He had been stationed in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Mr. Hyatt worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin for 32 years until its closing, last working as a security guard. He then worked for Midwest Grain in Pekin for 9 years working as a cooker operator, retiring in 1989. He previously worked for the Pekin Dairy Company from 1943 to 1945 and for Corn Products Corporation in Pekin following World War II.
He was an active member of the Normandale Reformed Church in Pekin, where he was a deacon and choir member. He was a former elder and adult Sunday school teacher at the church. He also assisted in the churches Kid’s Club activities and was the church caretaker for many years.
He was a life member of the William Schafer American Legion Post #44 in Pekin and was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin. He served as an election judge for several years.
He was Santa Claus for special events throughout the area including at Hobby Horse Pre-School and Schramm School, both in Pekin. He enjoyed gardening.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Normandale Reformed Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Harmen Heeg will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and one hour before services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

GERALD L. MCCUE
(1940~2005)
PEKIN ~ Gerald Lester McCue, 65, of Midway Addition, rural Pekin, died at 7:34 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Edward Hines, Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital in Hines.
Born January 29, 1940 in Pekin to Cecil Page and Ethel May Boyer McCue, he married Rosa L. Hill on May 30, 1959 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl L. Byrd of Fenwick, Michigan and Debra J. Davidson of South Pekin ; one son, Gerald L. McCue of Fort Myers, Florida; seven grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Gladys Conover of Pekin, Thelma (Ronald) Childers of East Peoria, and Sharon (Donavon) Tucker of Galesburg; and one brother, Delbert (Brenda) McCue of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother (Harold McCue).
A United States Air Force veteran, he served from February 7, 1957 to February 6, 1961 . He attained the rank of Airman Second Class.
Mr. McCue began working for the Pekin Foundry in March 1961 as an apprentice molder, last working September 7, 1963 when he was disabled from an auto accident later on that same day.
He was a life member of the Vaughan Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Hines. He formerly attended Grace Baptist Church in Pekin. He was past president of the Pekin Beaver Patrol CB Club and had the handle of “Crip”.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. May 31, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Randy Justus will officiate. Private Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

DELBERTA R. BROWN
(1930~2005)
MORTON ~ Delberta Rose Brown, 74, of 24150 Veterans Road, Lot 59, died at 11:31 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born November 13, 1930 in Peoria to Elijah E. and Carrie Eleanor Black Rakestraw, she married William Mark Dornon. She later married Ray Brown.
Surviving are four sons, Timothy M. (Judy) Dornon of Temple, Texas, Rex E. (Ellen) Dornon of Carthage, Craig A. (Karla) Brown of East Peoria, and Curtis W. (Cassie) Brown of Morton; sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Keith (Peggy) Rakestraw of East Peoria and Eugene Rakestraw of Peoria; and one sister, Madelyn (Glenn) Brown of Eustis, Florida.
Her parents and two sisters (Betty DeVault and Jacqueline Smith) preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brown worked in housekeeping at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton for several years, retiring in 1995. She previously worked for Armor Meats in Peoria for 15 years, in the executive dining room of Hiram Walker & Son in Peoria for several years, and later in the housekeeping department of the East Peoria Holiday Inn.
She enjoyed watching and taping old movies. She also enjoyed watching figure skating and playing bingo.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends following the service Saturday at 324 East Fernwood in Morton. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2005 at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
