PEKIN ~ Retta May Thompson, 74, of 230 Court Street, Apartment 703, died at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born December 9, 1930 in Charleston, Missouri to William and Ruby Lee Hurley Brashears, she married Rev. Luther Myrl Thompson on May 17, 1946 in Charleston, Missouri. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cathy L. (Paul) Lewellen of Rockford and Susan D. (Darrell) Hill of Pekin; five sons, Luke M. (Diane) Thompson, Jr. of Leesville, Louisiana, John W. (Trudy) Thompson of Tremont, Larry D. (Lynn McElhaney) of Delavan, P. Michael (Barb) Thompson of Pekin, and Jeffrey N. (Tonda) Thompson of Peoria; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill (Genevive) Brashears of Charleston, Missouri and Charles (Susie) Brashears of Sikeston, Missouri; six sisters, Ivalene Bamper of California, Lucille Hayden, Rosemary Brashears, and Sue (Dennis) Rettig, all of Saint Louis, Missouri, Melba Groves of Calvert City, Kentucky, and Linda (Dale) Clayton of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother (Jackie Lee Brashears), and two sisters (Carol R. Thompson and Annie McClutchin).
Mrs. Thompson assisted her husband in his ministry at the Church of God, where he pastored many churches throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Missouri, and Colorado. As a ministers wife, she played many roles in the church including song leader, Sunday school teacher, church secretary/treasurer and missionary leader.
She was a member of the New Life Christian Fellowship in North Pekin.
She enjoyed quilting, cooking, camping, and playing the piano.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Eugene R. Hooker will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

CREVE COEUR – Johnathan George Cole, infant son of Carson C. Cole, Jr. and Melissa Meyers of 148 Hollywood Circle, died at 2:48 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. He was born there at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005.
Also surviving are his maternal grandparents, Kathy (Mark) Eades of Creve Coeur and Norman (Sue) Meyers of Urbana; paternal grandparents, Carson C. Cole of Sunnyland, and Deena (Scott) Armstrong of Sunnyland and 1 brother, Carson C. Cole, III of Creve Coeur.
A private service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Cremation will be accorded.

PATRICIA CROW
(1944 ~ 2005)
GROVELAND, IL ~ Patricia Elizabeth “Patty” Crow, 60, of 537 Wildwood Drive, died at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005 at her residence.
Born September 11, 1944 in Centerville, Iowa to Lloyd Jack and Dorothy Mae Moden Vincent, she married Charles Earl Crow on December 24, 1961 in Centerville. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother of Centerville; one daughter, Brenda D. Morgan of Clinton, Illinois; one son, Todd D. Crow of Groveland; one sister, Dianna (Gary) Kirkland of Centerville; two nephews and two nieces.
Her father preceded her in death.
She worked for Laborers Local #231 in Pekin for 28 years as a secretary in pension and welfare. She previously worked for C.H. Robinson Produce in East Peoria, Illinois.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose #673 in Pekin and the Transportation Club of Peoria. She also was a member of the Financial Friends Investment Club and participated in Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society.
She enjoyed
hunting, fishing and golfing 
. She also enjoyed aerobics and flowers.
She attended the Groveland Missionary Church.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Curtis E. Alexander will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in the Glendale Memorial Gardens Chapel of Dreams Mausoleum in Pekin.

WILLIAM DISSMAN
(1926 ~ 2005)
PEKIN ~ William C. “Bill” Dissman, 78, of 1004 Jefferson Street, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born December 17, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry C. and Eula Brown Dissman, he married Shirley Anne Weeks on September 9, 1947 in Havana. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Rick (Debra) Dissman of Pekin and three granddaughters.
His parents preceded him in death.
He was a World War II
Army veteran.
He retired in 1990 after 50 years in the hardware business.
He was a 50-year member of Havana Lodge 88, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois. He also was a member of the Mohammed Temple, Shrine and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1271 in Pekin. He was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and 30 minutes before services Wednesday at graveside.

LINDA BROWN
(1949~2005
BARTONVILLE – Linda Lou Brown, 55, of 323 Treasure St. died at 10:41 a.m., Sunday, May 1, 2005 at her home.
Born May 2, 1949 in Virginia, Illinois to Shelly and Evelyn Russell Fishel, she married Roger L. Brown on July 17, 1971 in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband; father and step-mother, Shelly (Mary Lou) Fishel of Jacksonville; 1 sister, Shelley (Earl) Towle of Peoria; and 1 step-sister, Sharon Sweaney of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her mother; and 1 brother.
Mrs. Brown last worked as a tax preparer/receptionist at H&R Block in the North Pointe shopping center in Peoria for 10 years. Previously, she had worked as a data entry operator for Caterpillar, CILCO, and Keystone. She had also worked at the Seidler Hallmark store at North Pointe.
She was of the Catholic faith and had attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
Mrs. Brown bred and showed oriental short-haired cats and had won the “Best of Best” award at St. Louis in 1984.
She was past president and editor of the club newsletter of the Oriental Short-Haired Cat Club of America. She was also a member of the Heart of Illinois Cat Fanciers, the International Ford Retractable Club, and the Gateway Ford Retractable Club. She was one of the founders of the Bartonville Neighborhood Watch Program.
She enjoyed collecting beanie babies, playing computer games, and had appeared on the Illinois Lottery “Fortune Hunt” TV show. She was a volunteer at the Wheels O’ Time Museum in Peoria. She had many internet friends worldwide.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial service and visitation will be held at a later date.

PEKIN, IL— Floyd L. Stetter, 64, of 2113 Sierra Dr. died at 1:00 a.m., Sunday, May 1, 2005 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born July 22, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois to George L. and Gladys K. Roski Stetter, he married Christine E. Crist on October 24, 1964 in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife; his mother of Sherman, Illinois; 1 son, Stuart (Wendy) Stetter of Kirkville, Iowa; 2 daughters, Candy (Brian) Jones of Colona, Illinois and Kathy (Brett) Cornish of Coal Valley, Illinois; 4 grandchildren; and 1 brother, Weldon (Jane) Stetter of Cantrall, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his father; and 1 sister.
Mr. Stetter was a salesman for Getz Manufacturing in Peoria for the last 5 years. Previously, he had worked as the terminal manager for Consolidated Freightways for 20 years.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a former member of the Ottumwa, Iowa Lions Club for many years.
He was a member of Pekin Bible Church.
He enjoyed
hunting and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Rick Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services.

BARBARA SHEHORN

PEKIN— Barbara Helen Shehorn, 69, of 3521 Cattail Cove died at 11:03 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born October 14, 1935 in Flora, Illinois to Joseph B. and Laverne Crane Elliott, she married Larry G. Shehorn on April 4, 1958 in Kentucky.
Surviving are her husband; 1 son, Joe (Tina) Shehorn of Pekin; 2 daughters, Dr. Cathy Ann Shehorn of Sedona, Arizona and Cari Ruth Shehorn of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 grandchildren, Alec Joseph Shehorn, Emily Marie Shehorn, and Ryan Elliott Shehorn, all of Pekin; and 1 brother, Byron (Ruth) Elliott of Cisne, Illinois.
Mrs. Shehorn retired from teaching in 1992 after 35 years, last working in Pekin District #108 where she taught at Lincoln School, Sunset Hills School, Washington School and Wilson School. Previously, she taught in Clay City, Johnsonville, Green Valley, and Delavan.
She was a member of the Illinois Education Association, National Education Association, and the Tazewell County Retired Teachers Association.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was very active in the kitchen ministry. She was also a former deaconess and a member of the “Road Runners”. She had been on several mission trips, both here and abroad. She taught a community Bible study class at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Rev. Mark Friday will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at the church. Private Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

CLARA BEASLEY

PEKIN— Clara M. Beasley, 87, of Hallmark House Nursing Center, formerly of 1102 S. 8th St., died at 3:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born February 28, 1918 in Hartsburg, Illinois to Claus and Katherine Behrends Leesman, she married Chesley A. Beasley on April 3, 1938 in Delavan.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 21, 1977 in Pekin; and 3 sisters.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Carolyn (Robert) Cordts of Pekin and Jeanine (Fred) Meyers of Bellingham, Washington; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Virgil (Irma) Leesman, Paul Leesman, and Lloyd (Phyllis) Leesman, all of Hartsburg.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years, and was a member of the Concordia Society.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.

BRENDA L. WILKINSON

TOULON—Brenda L. Wilkinson, 44, of Toulon, died at 12:10 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2005 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born June 16, 1960 in Pekin to Darrell and Eleanor Lutz Heflin, she married John O. Wilkinson on July 20, 1996 in Toulon.
Surviving are her husband; her mother of Oregon, 1 son, Kinsman (Mandy) McGlothlin of Manito; 2 daughters, Audrey (Charles) Hewitt of Toulon and Ella McGlothlin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Genna Williamme of East Peoria, LeeAnn Williamme of Rushville, and her twin sister, Glenda Zaidenberg of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by her father and 1 brother.
A homemaker, she received her Certified Nurses Aid certificate in 1996 and had worked at Toulon Health Center.
She loved fishing and collecting antiques, especially toy tractors.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Cremation will be accorded following visitation.

MATTHEW S. BUTLER
(1967~2005)
PEKIN— Matthew Scott Butler, 38, of 7131 Baysprings Dr., Pensacola, Florida died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Pensacola Naval Air Station Hospital. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born March 1, 1967 in Peoria to Michael Scott and Trody Shults Butler, he married Lisa Hinton on April 23, 1993 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Tiffani Darlene Butler of Pensacola; mother and step-father, Trody (Dan) Taylor of Pekin; father and step-mother, Mike and Elsa Butler of Pekin; grandmothers, Wanda Lutke of Pekin and Shirley Egli of Morton; 2 sisters, Michelle Lynn Hilst and Marcie Louise Butler, both of Pekin; 2 step-sisters, Lisa (Troy) Mitchell of Rolla, Missouri and Therese (Jay) Peterson of Crawfordville, Florida; and 4 step-brothers, Jesse (Michelle) Taylor of Troy, Illinois, Michael (Jamie) Taylor of Pekin, L.J. Rossi, III of Morton, and Anthony Rossi, of Urbana.
He was employed as a marine diesel mechanic by Metson Marine, Inc. in Pensacola. He had previously worked for Seaward Services, also in Pensacola, for 5 years.
A 1985 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1988-99 and had been in the U.S. Navy Reserves since then.
He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, and motorcycles. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Rev. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
