PEKIN— Wayne Edward “Buck” Seelye, 63, of Rural Route #3, Box 3499, Thayer, Missouri died at 7:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri. He was a former Pekin resident until 1995.
Born December 25, 1942 in Pekin to Carl W. and Bernice Taylor Seelye, he married Wanda O. Norman on June 13, 1961 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 3 daughters, Corrine L. (Christopher) Russell of Koshkonong, Missouri, Candy A. Seelye of Thayer, Missouri, and Paula K. Seelye of Vernal, Utah; 1 son, Wayne “Pete” Seelye, Jr. of Thayer ; 20 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Carl (Susan) Seelye, Jr. of Pekin; and 1 sister, Peggy Null of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister; 1 brother; and 1 grandson.
Mr. Seelye was a retired heavy equipment operator, last working at the Clinton, IL Nuclear Power Plant. He had also been a self-employed landscaper in Pekin and Thayer from 1980-98.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
GERALD K. MONTGOMERY
(1940~2005)
PEKIN ~ Gerald Keith “Jerry” Montgomery, Sr., 64, of 1315 South 7th Street, died at 6:59 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Pekin Hospital. He was formerly of South Pekin.
Born October 14, 1940 in Pekin to Howard C. and Gretchen Trenholm Montgomery, he married Melba Joan Monroe on May 11, 1962 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother of Pekin; one son, Gerald Keith (Robin) Montgomery, Jr. of Pekin; one daughter, Kathy L. (Edwin) Blas of Everett, Washington; five grandchildren, Edwin Blas, Jeffrey Blas, Anthony Blas, Natasha Blas, all of Everett, Washington and Justin Montgomery of Pekin; one sister, Kathy Tibbs of Pekin; one sister-in-law whom he helped raise, Marilyn (Robert) Stallwitz of Pekin and one brother, Dennis (Linda) Montgomery of Manito.
His father preceded him in death.
He was a Marine Corps. Veteran.
He retired in 2002 from the Union Pacific Railroad after 41 years of service, last working as an engineer out of South Pekin.
Mr. Montgomery had served as the Mayor of South Pekin. He also was a former member of the South Pekin Village Board; former Police Commissioner and member of the South Pekin School District 137 Board of Education. For many years, he volunteered as “fish fryer” for 4th of July festivities.
He attended the South Pekin Congregational Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He was a former member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois in Pekin.
No services or visitation are planned. Cremation will be accorded. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

DONALD R. BISSELLE
(1927~2005)
PEKIN ~ Donald Richard Bisselle, 77, of 1118 South Capitol Street, died at 10:36 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
He was born June 24, 1927 in Kankakee to William and Goldie Idora Rogers Bisselle.
Surviving are his long-time companion for over 35 years, Mary E. Westman, with whom he made his home; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Mr. Bisselle worked in the print shop at the American Distilling Company in Pekin for many years.
He enjoyed collecting and repairing old radios.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation will be accorded.
Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

LUCREZIA GHIDINA
(1904~2005)
PEKIN ~ Lucrezia Ghidina, 100, of 1600 Catherine Street in Pekin, died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005 at her residence.
Born August 22, 1904 in Forni-Di-Sotto, Italy to John and Santa Ghidina Colledani, she married Lawrence A. Ghidina on October 30, 1920 in Forni-Di-Sotta. He died May 12, 1951 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma LaBarr; one grandson; one great-grandson; two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are three sons, August (Jessie) Ghidina of Lake Placid, Florida, Lawrence (Marilyn) Ghidina and John Ghidina, both of Pekin; four daughters, Lucy Murphy, Mary VanDyke, Darlene Lowman and Pauline Filarski, all of Pekin; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-four great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, Mrs. Ghidina also cleaned for several doctor’s offices in the area.
An immigrant coming thru Ellis Island, she has her name imprinted on the wall there.
She loved to travel, garden and raise flowers.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and its Council of Catholic Women. She also was a member of the Italian American Women’s Club.
Her funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. The Rev. David Whiteside will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where the recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Further visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.

EARL MICHAEL STOVALL

MACKINAW ~ Earl Michael “Mike” Stovall, 59, of 14521 Lilly Road, died at 12:50 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005 at his residence.
Born August 26, 1945 in Pekin to Earl Bishop and Ellen Burger Stovall, he married Laura Laudenslager in 1963 in Pekin.
Surviving are his mother of Pekin; one daughter, Jennifer Jean Carlton of Pekin; two sons, Jeffrey Michael (Trina) Stovall of Bloomington and Jason Michael Stovall of Pekin; seven grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; one sister, Patricia Roeder of Pekin; his best friend and caregiver for the past 12 years during his struggle with cancer, Cliff Gardner of Mackinaw; and five nieces whom he helped raise, Rhonda Brarksdale, Mary Terrell, Bobbie Blanquart, Tee Rynearson and Renee Sharp.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Earlene Mishler.
He worked at Caterpillar, Inc in East Peoria for 30 years in heating and air conditioning, retiring in 1994.
Also an antique dealer, he enjoyed attending auctions and garage sales.
He was a member of Delavan United Methodist Church. He also was an accomplished organist.
His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

NOVELLA HARDESTY
(1925~2005)
PEKIN ~ Novella Hardesty, 79, of 1400 Hamilton Street, died at 5:29 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.
Born May 4, 1925 in Arkansas to Forrest and Merinda Godsey Hill, she married Samuel A. “Sam” Hardesty on May 30, 1942 in East Prairie, Missouri. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Sammy J. Hardesty of Ellington, Missouri; three daughters, Phyllis A. (C. Haven) Fearn of Benicia, California, Paulette (Coy “Skip”) Boyd of Farmerville, Louisiana, and Sheila K. Lawrence of Pekin; four grandchildren, Angela L. Jones of Ellington, Missouri, Scott B. Hardesty of Addison, Texas, Courtney C. (Steve) McCloud of Pekin, and Brenda K. (Jeff) DeSanty of Mapleton; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward (Margie) Hill of Saint Louis, Missouri and Ralph (Irene) Hill of Rialto, California; and one sister, Pauline (Robert “Bud”) Hardesty of Hemet, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-granddaughter, one infant brother, and one infant sister.
Mrs. Hardesty worked as a seamstress for Boss Glove Company in Peoria for several years and later at Princess Peggy in Peoria for 14 years. She then worked as a custodian for Creve Coeur School District #76 for several years. She also was a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative for over 20 years in the Pekin area.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Community Church in Pekin, where she had served on various committees.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and studying the Bible.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

James McMillian
(1925 ~ 2005)
PEKIN ~ James J. McMillian, 80, of 500 Centennial Drive in East Peoria, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005 at ManorCare at Riverview in East Peoria. He was formerly of 1324 South 2nd Street in Pekin.
Born February 22, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Horace J. and Bethel Higgins McMillian, he married M. Eileen Myers on January 30, 1947 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Linda L. (Scott) Crawford of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michelle D. Wiegand of East Peoria and Gail L. (David) Burrows of Peoria; seven grandchildren, Marla (Zak) Shockley of Greenfield, Indiana, Daniel Crawford of Indianapolis, Scott (Melissa) Wiegand, Missy Wiegand, both of East Peoria, Kelly Burrows, Kori Burrows and Eric Burrows, all of Peoria and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
He was a World War II
Army veteran, serving with the 101st airborne in New Guinea.
He was a retired member of Teamsters & Chauffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria, working for N.E. Finch in East Peoria as a truck driver for many years until retiring.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin and Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234.
A great musician who loved country music, Mr. McMillian was a life member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 301. He played the guitar since he was 9 years old and played for more than 20 years with the Glenn Reader Band.
He bowled in leagues at Sunset Lanes in Pekin for many years and was a member of the American Bowling Congress.
He enjoyed traveling and loved his family.
He attended First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Alan L. Newhall will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

JAMES VICK
(1946 ~ 2005)
PEKIN – James Eugene Vick, 58, of 18442 Red Shale Hill Rd., died at 2:10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at his home.
Born December 24, 1946 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Willard Jackson and Carrie Russell Perkins Vick, he married Pat Freas on July 2, 1967 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Jim (P.J.) Vick and Scott (Amy) Vick, both of Delavan; 1 daughter, Tricia (Scott) Springer of Roanoke; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale (Aloma) Vick of North Pekin, Kelly (Jill) Vick of Pekin; and 2 sisters, Brenda Vick and Annette Vick, both of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Vick worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 37 years, retiring April 1, 2002 as a technical program coordinator.
He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916 and a former member of the Marquette Heights Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing,
hunting, gardening, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and his grandchildren.
He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Timothy Najpaver will officiate. Private Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

JAMES SCAMP

PEKIN – James Howard Scamp, 70, of Danville, Illinois died at 3:10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center of Champaign-Urbana in Urbana. He was formerly of Pekin.
He was born October 29, 1934 in South Pekin to Howard H. and Bernadine I. McCoy Scamp.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Bernadine and Thaddeus Just of Pekin; 3 daughters, Brenda (Michael) Young and Melissa (Jon) Little, both of Pekin, and Julia Greiner of Bourbonnais, Illinois; 1 son, Mark (Margo) Scamp of Pekin; and 8 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Scamp last worked as a courier for Smith-Kline Pharmaceutical Company. Previously, he had managed several area restaurants for many years.
He formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
He enjoyed cooking, reading, was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and animal lover.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

DOROTHY MOTT
(1931 ~ 2005)
PEKIN ~ Dorothy “Dot” Mott, 73, of 5612 Williams in Omaha, Nebraska since 2003, died at 6:38 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was formerly of 1906 St. Clair Drive in Pekin.
Born July 28, 1931 in Chicago to Arthur and Helen Snyder McCullough, she married Ernest T. Mott on June 24, 1950 in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven A. (Gale) Mott and David E. (Lisa) Mott, both of Pekin and Thad W. (Teresa) Mott of Omaha and six grandchildren, Joe Mott, Nick Mott and Gina Mott, all of Pekin, Emma Mott, Elijah Mott and Esther Mott, all of Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arthur “Bud” McCullough.
A graduate of Pekin Community High School, Mrs. Mott worked as a legal secretary for an attorney at the Tazewell County Court House in Pekin until she received her real estate license. She then worked as a real estate agent in the Pekin area for the next 10 years.
In 1990, she and her husband moved to Ontario, Canada until his retirement in 1995. They then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks until 2000 when they moved back to Pekin.
Throughout her life, Dorothy was always active whether through walking, playing tennis or bowling. She loved to work, she loved her family and she will be greatly missed.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin.
A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. following services. Cremation has been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Frances Medical Center, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61603.
