PEKIN ~ Lillian Jemima Lundstrom, 89, of 1424 West Shore Drive in Pekin, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Pekin Manor.
Born October 23, 1915 in Chicago to John and Jemima Crooks Irvine, she married Harold Alfred Lundstrom on June 22, 1937 in Chicago. He died August 22, 1994 in Harlingen, Texas. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jacqueline A. Fasel and one brother, John Charles Irvine.
Surviving are one daughter, Carol A. (Robert) Mallard of Pekin; her son-in-law, David Fasel of Park Forest; six grandchildren, Kenneth R. (Deb) Wambold of Spring, Tex., Paul S. (Sheila) Wambold of Washington, Sheryl L. (David) Holstein of St. Louis, Michael D. (Tina) Wambold of Spokane, Wash., Robin L. (Donald) Lowery of East Peoria and William H. Neal; thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, she was of the Presbyterian faith. She was a 50-year member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Chicago.
She enjoyed quilt making and sewing.

LOIS A. JOHANNES

PEKIN ~ Lois Alma Johannes, 83, of 108 East Candlewyck, Kalamazoo, Michigan, died at 12:10 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2005 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was formerly of Pekin.
She was born May 12, 1922 in Chicago to John F. and Alma Olt Johannes.
Surviving are three nephews, David Belter of Kalamazoo, Robert (Judy) Setzer of Rochester Hills, Michigan, and Richard (Monica)Setzer-McQuade of San Antonio, Texas; and one niece, Esther (Tom) Lago of Kalamazoo.
Her parents, three sisters, and one brother preceded her in death.
Miss Johannes graduated from Pekin Community High School, after which she worked at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville. She then lived in Phoenix, Arizona for five years. She left Phoenix to work as a secretary in Salzburg, Austria with the Department of
Army. She then took assignments with the Department of State in Yugoslavia, Libya, Liberia, Chile, Peru, Viet Nam, India, Afghanistan, Egypt, and Washington, D.C. She moved to Kalamazoo in 1990.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, and Milwood United Methodist Church and the Ladies Library Association, both in Kalamazoo. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Kalamazoo.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are entrusted to the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2005 at Milwood United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo. The Rev. Bob Lynch will officiate.

MARLIN WAYNE KIRK
(1922~2005)
PEKIN ~ Marlin Wayne Kirk, 82, of 419 Jupitor, Mission, Texas, died at 9:51 a.m. Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, Texas.
Born November 17, 1922 in Columbus, Kansas to Elmer R. and Ina M. Medsker Kirk, he married Lu Alta Kirk on April 30, 1946 in Atlanta, Texas. She died August 24, 1986 in Urbana. He later married Ilene Crutchfield Dawson on November 15, 1988 in Champaign. She survives.
Also surviving are two step-sons, John A. Dawson of Champaign and Philip E. Dawson of Boise, Idaho; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren and one sister, Norma J. (and James) Nyberg-Clodfelter of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by one step-son, Wayne E. Dawson; one sister, Juanita Lorraine Kirk and one brother, Howard Barton Kirk
A World War II
Army veteran, serving from December 23, 1942 to June 8, 1947, he served with the Cavalry in the Pacific Theater attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a 1962 graduate of Drury College in Springfield, Missouri with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
He was a teacher for a total of 26 years, retiring from Pekin Public Schools District 108 on May 31, 1983 after 19 years. He previously taught in Aransas Pass, Texas; Independence, Missouri; Excelsior Springs, Missouri and at District 50 in Washington, Illinois. He was a life member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
He was a life and 32-year member of Empire Lodge 126, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and an endowed member of Mission Lodge 1061. He also was a life member of Pekin Chapter 25 of Royal Arch Masons of Illinois; York Rite College 169; Al Amin Shrine, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; Royal Order of Scotland and a charter life member of the Earl of Torell Council 24, Knight Masons of USA in Springfield.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite Research Society; Southwest Chapter of the Philalethes Society; Urbana Commandery 16 of Knights Templar and Urbana Council 19 C.M.; Nomad Shrine of Pharr, Texas and Celestial City Chapter 333, Order of the Eastern Star in Pekin.
He was a member of the Conway Avenue Baptist Church in Mission.
Masonic services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Gary L. Ford officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Garden in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

MARGUERITE T. CLIFTON

SOUTH PEKIN ~ Marguerite T. Clifton, 96, of 301 Minch Street, died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
Born July 8, 1909 in Cincinnati Township, Tazewell County to Leonard and Anna Beck Olt, she married LeRoy E. Clifton, Jr. on August 31, 1935 in Pekin. He died April 21, 1990 in Pekin. Her parents and three brothers also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Roy L. Clifton and Douglas L. Clifton, both of South Pekin; one grandson, Scott (Lisa) Clifton of South Pekin; and four great-grandchildren.
A homemaker, Mrs. Clifton enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking. She was a Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
She was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin and the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2005 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Tremont. The Rev. Dwight E. Borden will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN ~ Leona Lucinda Dunniway, 84, of 230 Court Street, Apartment 805, died at 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center in Pekin.
Born June 7, 1921 in Pekin to Thomas and Luella Vance Houston, she married James Gilbert Dunniway on July 1, 1938 in Bowling Green, Missouri. He died August 28, 1966 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, three brothers, and one sister.
Surviving are three sons, James D. (Barbara) Dunniway, Thomas B. (Barb) Dunniway, and Gerald L. “Jerry” (Brenda) Dunniway, all of Pekin; one daughter, Nancy J. Coats of Pekin; thirteen grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Robert Yoder of California; and two sisters, Lola (Charles) Dinkins of Owosso, Michigan and Lois (Lloyd) Hodel of Kentucky.
A homemaker, Mrs. Dunniway worked for Pekin Dairy during the 1970’s.

BLOOMINGTON -- Clara S. Wunder, 63, of 1445 Valle Vista Blvd, Apartment C, Pekin, formerly of 819 East Douglas Street, Bloomington, died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at her residence.
Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. The graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington. The Rev. J.T. Lovins will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family. Clara was born February 17, 1942 in Leashville, Arkansas, the son of the late Edgar Stone and the late Myrtle Stone. She married John V. Wunder on August 8, 1958, in Bloomington. He died November 23, 2003. She later lived with her companion, Robert E. Rose, in Pekin. He survives.
Clara is survived by six children, Rex Wunder Sr., Connie Wunder, Alma Gaston, Dorothy (Robert) Horton, Steven (Teresa) Wunder and Diana Wunder, all of Bloomington; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister, Lucy Cook of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters.
She was as a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and companion and will be missed by all.
ROBERT E. ANDERSON

PEKIN – Robert Eugene Anderson, 88, of 1407 South 12th Street, died at 8:47 p.m., Sunday, August 21, 2005 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born July 28, 1917 in DuQuoin to Shalon A.. and Laura Wright Anderson, he married Linda M. Godbey McClanahan on November 26, 1971 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 1 daughter, Laura (Daniel) Dobbelaire of Pekin; 1 step-son, Steven (Kathy) McClanahan of Pekin; and 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, Gary L. Anderson; 1 step-son, Michael L. McClanahan; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Mr. Anderson worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring as a welder in 1982.
He served in the U.S.
Army Air Force from November 5, 1943 until being discharged as a sergeant on March 3, 1946.
He enjoyed ballroom dancing and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
He was a member of the Pekin Union Mission Society.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. James West will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force Reserve.

BETTY L. DRAKE
(1925~2005)
PEORIA – Betty Lee Drake, 80, of 3227 N. Bigelow died at 6:19 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Proctor Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1925 in Green Valley to Wilbert R. and Bernice G. Cowser Drake.
Surviving are 1 brother, Dale (Dorothy) Drake of Pekin; 1 niece, Leslie (Carl) Hauk of Tremont; and 1 nephew, Jim (Julie) Drake of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Illinois State University in 1947 and later received her Master’s degree in education from Bradley University.
Drake taught at Woodruff High School for 40 years, retiring in 1990 as the head of the English department. She had previously taught at Auburn High School in Auburn. After her retirement, she worked as a consultant at Bradley University and wrote grant requests for Peoria School District 150.
She was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Peoria-Suburban. She was awarded membership into the prestigious George F. Hixson Fellowship of Kiwanis International on December 5, 1997. She had served as lieutenant governor for Division 20 of the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District of Kiwanis International in 1996-97. She also served on the Make-A-Wish Foundation board of directors.
She was an avid reader.
Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to services at the funeral home. Private Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery.

GROVELAND – Phillip Charles Storck, Sr., 80, of 4601 Sheridan Rd. died at 5:34 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2005 at his home.
Born January 14, 1925 in Pekin to Christ J. and Sarah Stevens Eitenmiller Storck, Sr., he married Ruth Clarinda Dodson on August 15, 1945 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 4 daughters, Darlene (James) Lawrence of Groveland, Patsy (Jerry) Moore of East Peoria, Marcia K. Eades of Morton, and Sharon (Wilson) Cespedes of Peoria; 1 son, Phillip (Carol) Storck, Jr. of Washington Township, Michigan; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-.grandsons; and 1 brother, Christ (Mary) Storck, Jr. of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by 3 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
Mr. Storck was an electrician who worked out of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #34 in Peoria for 22 years until retiring in 1987. Previously, he had worked for Corn Products Corporation, Quaker Oats, and Farlan Buick, all in Pekin and Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville. He had also been a self-employed carpenter for 11 years. During that time he built 21 homes, including his own home for 49 years.
He served in the U.S.
Army’s 63rd, 28th, and 2nd infantry divisions fighting the Battles of the Rhineland in central Germany during World War II.
He was a member of the Evergreen
aviation
Museum on McMinnville, Oregon.
He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and writing.
Cremation will be accorded.

NORTH PEKIN ~ Lyle Everett Conway, 90, of 601 Prince Street in Pekin died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Pekin Hospital. He was formerly of 305 North Main Street in North Pekin.
Born September 22, 1914 in Tower Hill to Arthur Elbert and Edith Dot Hughes Conway, he married Christine Tarter on June 3, 1934 in Decatur. She died September 8, 1994 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son (David K. Conway on February 16, 1998 in Peoria), two grandchildren, one brother, and two sisters.
Surviving are four sons, Everett W. (Elizabeth) Conway of Tremont, Jerry R. (Marilyn Jane) Conway of Madison, Indiana, Bernard “Bud” (Loretta) Conway of Whitwell, Tennessee, and Stephen R. (Judith) Conway of Morton; three daughters, Nancy M. (Nolan “Pete”) Heitzman of Pekin, Marilyn A. (Virgel) Hartsock of Tremont, and Mary Helen (Lonnie) Popejoy of Metamora; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and two sisters, Geraldine Wilbur of Saint Louis, Missouri and Thelma DePasquale of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Mr. Conway was an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 28 years, retiring in 1976. Previously, he worked for ABC Washing Machine Company in Peoria and later Corn Products Company in Pekin. He also had served as the first mayor of the Village of North Pekin from 1947 to 1949.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Groveland and the Metropolitan Retirees Club. He was a former member and trustee of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin.
He enjoyed gardening and his church.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2005 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 18040 Unsicker Road, Groveland. The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Hauter will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
