PEORIA HEIGHTS - Fern "Dot" Marie Utt Riley, 83, of Peoria Heights, died at 6:22 p.m. August 18, 2005 at Fondulac Woods Nursing Home in East Peoria.
She was born in Brazil, Ind., on Oct. 24, 1921, to Onnie Curtis and Bertha Clara Craig Knowles. She married John William Utt June 10, 1940. He preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were a son, David Utt, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are two sons, John (Joanne) Utt of Groveland and Richard (Becky) Utt of Peoria; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at Owen Cemetery in Brazil, Indiana. The Rev. Olan Strader will officiate. Local arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
HARRISON ROWDEN
(1921~2005)
PEKIN – Harrison Corwin “Rowdy” Rowden, 84, of 204 Powers Ave. died at 9:14 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at his home.
Born April 4, 1921 in Canton to William Clarence and Pearl Adellia Kelly Rowden, he married Frances Lucille Whitney on October 30, 1942 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Larry M. (Phyllis) Rowden and Dale W. Rowden, both of Pekin; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, John B. (Tammi) Rowden of Santa Maria, California
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters; and 2 brothers.
A member of Iron Workers Local #112 in Peoria for 59 years, he worked for V. Jobst and Son in Peoria for many of those years.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the European theater during World War II.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin, where he had served on the church building committee, as a trustee, and a member of the choir.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. David Wetterlund will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

DONALD L. GEBHARDT
(1930~2005)
PEKIN – Donald Louis Gebhardt, 74, of 2201 Belmont Dr. died at 4:50 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.
Born October 13, 1930 in Pekin to Andrew and Mary Jackson Gebhardt, he married Flora Ellen Kastner on August 26,1951 in Manito.
Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Mary Ibbotson and Carol Gebhardt, both of Pekin; 2 grandsons, Jason and Nathan Ibbotson, both of Pekin; 1 brother, Norman (Imogene) Gebhardt of Pekin; and 1 sister, Mildred (Frank) Neulinger of Manito.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister.
Mr. Gebhardt co-owned and operated Gebhardt Poultry in Pekin for 57 years, retiring in 2003.
He served in the United States Air Force from December 14, 1950 until being discharged as an Airman First Class in September 10, 1954.
He attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2005 and 30 minutes before the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.

CREVE COEUR – Marie M. Barnette, 92, of 652 Roosevelt died at 1:12 p.m., Sunday, August 14, 2005 at her home.
Born October 8, 1912 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Will P. and Lillie Florence Troxell Troxell, she married Henry M. Barnette on December 19, 1931 in Sommerset, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 3, 1973 in Peoria; 1 grandson; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.
Surviving are 4 sons, Clarence J. (Sheila) Barnette and Jay Barnette, both of Tremont, Sam (Eleanor) Barnette of East Peoria and Dwayne Barnette of Creve Coeur; 3 daughters, Velda (Kenneth) Andrus of LaFayette, Indiana, Donna (Johnny) Johnston of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Bonnie (Bud) Caughey of Mapleton; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 1 half-brother, Herbert (Earline) Troxell of Monticello, Kentucky; and 2 half-sisters, Ina (Lewis) Walker of Indianapolis, Indiana and Evalene (David) Koontz of Monticello, Kentucky.
Mrs. Barnette worked as a seamstress at the Boss Glove Company in Peoria from 1945 until its closing in 1960.
She was a member of the Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church, the Caterpillar Retirees Club, and the VFW Auxiliary #2078 in East Peoria.
She loved to quilt, crochet, and play BINGO.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. Claude Craig will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

PEORIA – Lerlie Mae “Sally” Foster, 83, formerly of 2701 Springdale Ave., died at 11:40 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 4, 1922 in Holiday, Tennessee to Joe and Emma Faulkner Kelly, she married Byron Dwight Foster in 1941 in Huntsville, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 5, 1973 in Peoria; 1 son, Ivan Anthony Foster on July 14, 1999; and 4 sisters.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Lurleen “Susie” (Ronald) Cotner of Pekin.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Christian Church in Peoria.
She enjoyed fishing, embroidery, traveling, baby sitting and playing cards.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. There will be no visitation.

IRA NELSON BARNER

PEKIN ~ Ira Nelson Barner, 88, of 1520 El Camino Drive, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Pekin Manor. He was formerly of 308 Fayette Street in Pekin.
Born March 30, 1917 in Solona, Pennsylvania to Nelson Ira and Ethel Ellen Buchanan Barner, he married Ruth Elaine Griesser on January 1, 1938 in Pekin. She died April 8, 2003 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son (John Barner in 1944), three granddaughters, and one brother (Albert H. Barner).
Surviving are two daughters, Addie (Kenneth) Fisher and Mary (Gerald) Graber, both of Pekin; two sons, Albert Barner of Camp Point and Ira Barner of Topeka; seventeen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Adeline (Joseph) Niemiec of Chicago.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Barner worked as a custodian at Pekin Community High School for 30 years,
retiring in 1978.
He was a member of Pekin Bible Church and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and bowling.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Harold Pothoven will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

HAROLD YOUELL
(1918~2005)
PEKIN ~ Harold Dean Youell, 87, of 1211 South 18th Street, died at 6 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2005 at Pekin Manor.
Born May 29, 1918 in St. David to George and Myrtle L. Garren Youell, he married Virginia G. Schlieman on November 21, 1940 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Janis A. “Jan” (Ronald) Matuska of Mackinaw; and one grandson, Joshua R. “Josh” Ketchmark of Sherman Oaks, California.
His parents preceded him in death.
A 1936 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he attended Rochester Junior College, Illinois State University, and Indiana Technical College.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, where he had been a pilot.
Mr. Youell worked for Caterpillar, Inc for 38 years, retiring in 1978 as the inventory authorization and review manager at the general offices in Peoria. While at Caterpillar, he was the assistant manager of the accounts division from 1953 to 1957 and auditor from 1957 to 1965. He had worked at Caterpillar plants in England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Brazil, Japan, and Mexico.
He served on the Pekin Public Schools District #108 Board of Education for 9 years, the Pekin Park District Board for 9 years, and the United Fund Board in Pekin. A former director of the National Association of Accountants, he contributed three manuscripts to Management Accounting Magazine. One of the manuscripts was published in 1967, received the Certificate of Merit from the National Association of Accountants. He had been a volunteer at both Pekin Hospital and Dirksen Congressional Center in Pekin.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was a former church treasurer and moderator. He was a 52-year member of Empire Lodge #126, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Pekin. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin, the Celestial City Campers, and the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2005 at Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Michael McLeod will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

PEKIN ~ George John Look, 96, of 1104 South 8th Street, died at 7:16 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2005 at Morton Terrace Care Center in Morton.
Born January 1, 1909 in Pekin to George and Alice Schantz Look, he married Ila Loraine Smith on June 15, 1935 in Washington. This past June Mr. and Mrs. Look celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are his wife; one son, David R. (Barbara) Look of Naperville; one daughter, Sharon Z. (Ronald) Guengerich of Elmhurst; five grandchildren, Roger L. (Kim) Look of LeRoy, Alan D. (Rebecca) Look of Bloomington, and Dale R. Look, Nicole K. Filippidis, and Christine C. Filippidis, all of Naperville; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Look worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 37 years, retiring November 1, 1971 as a material control clerk at building HH in East Peoria. Previously, he worked at area greenhouses and was a horticulturist for the Pekin Park District.
He was a charter and the oldest living member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where he had been a third grade Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a former member of the dart ball team and men’s club at the church. He also was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, Caterpillar Retirees Club, and the United Auto Workers Local #974 Retirees Club.
He enjoyed woodworking, flower gardening, and traveling.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate. HENRY CHARLES WISEMAN, JR.

PEKIN ~ Henry Charles Wiseman, Jr., 85, of rural Pekin, died at 12:26 a.m. Monday,
August 8, 2005 at his home.
Born August 1, 1920 in Fancy Prairie to Henry Charles Sr. and Stella M. Dye Wiseman,
he married Betty Marie Laumeier on November 18, 1941 in Saint Charles, Missouri.
She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, H. Randy (Vikki) Wiseman of rural East Peoria and Terry E. (Karen) Wiseman of rural Morton; five grandchildren, Mark C. (Jennifer) Wiseman and Matt C. (Dana) Wiseman, both of Pekin, Eric M. Wiseman of Chicago, and Rick N. Wiseman and Sara M. Wiseman, both of Bloomington; one great-granddaughter, Kelsi L. Wiseman of Pekin; and one sister, Hattie Outzs of Largo, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Timmy M. Wiseman on November 2, 1969), three brothers, and six sisters.
A United States Navy veteran of World War II, he served from November 10, 1943 to December 20, 1945. He attained the rank of Fireman First Class.
Mr. Wiseman worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 40 years, retiring in 1982 as a drawing room trucker.
He was a retired member of the Independent Steel Workers Alliance in Bartonville and was a former member of the Keystone Goodfellow’s Club.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and roller skating.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Ron Little will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

PEKIN ~ Mildred Emma Fornoff, 88, of rural Pekin, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.
She was born January 23, 1917 in Green Valley to Phillip G. and Matilda A. Vetter Ripper. Her parents and one brother preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Marilyn K. “Boots” Kenney of Pekin; three grandchildren, Randy E. (Rachel) Kenney of Manito, Vicki K. (Gary) Fields and Brenda M. (Kevin) Kaeb, both of Green Valley; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She had worked for many years as a weigh master in the office for Sours Grain Company in Pekin.
She enjoyed playing bingo and flower gardening and always kept an interest in farming. She lived in the Pekin area all of her life.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Green Valley.
