ROBERT M. WOODLEY
(1923~2005)

PEKIN ~ Robert Marl Woodley, 81, of 1306 Meyers Court, died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005 in Pekin.

Born July 1, 1923 in Pekin to Horace Hal and Verna M. Young Woodley, he married Theresa Bea Hume. He later married Kathleen Eileen McCray on October 23, 1948 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert J. (Melva) Woodley of Rangely, Colorado and Danny J. Swift of Pekin; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Norma Jean Barker), two half-sisters, and one half-brother.

Mr. Woodley worked for Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville for 40 years, retiring in 1982 as a wire drawer.

An avid bowler, he was a member of the Hall of Fame of the Pekin Bowling Association. He was a former board member and past assistant secretary of the Pekin Bowling Association. He also was a past league secretary.

He was a Chicago Cubs fan.

He attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

BRETTON C. TOOLEY
(1974~2005)

PEKIN ~ Bretton Curtis “Bret” Tooley, 30, of 1513 Sara Lane, Apartment 3, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at his home.

He was born October 5, 1974 in Peoria to Curtis Walter and Susan Ann Canopy Tooley.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Susan and Scott Bickly of West Covina, California; father and step-mother, Curtis and Sandra Tooley of Morton; one brother, Bradley Joseph (Heather) Long of Wisconsin; and his grandfather, Robert Null of Manito.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers and one grandfather.

Bret was a certified basic emergency medical technician.

He was a member of the Self Realization Fellowship.

A talented artist, he enjoyed his computer and was a cat lover.

Private services will be Thursday at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes..

JANET L. CAUSEY
(1941~2005)

MORTON ~ Janet Lorene Causey, 77, of 150 Yordy Road, Apartment 321, died at 9:54 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2005 at her home. She was formerly of Peoria.

Born January 2, 1928 in Arrowsmith to William and Ethel Loraine Miller Connour, she married Thomas Nolan Causey on April 3, 1949 in Bellflower. He died February 4, 1980 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son (Gregory Lee Causey in December of 1961), two brothers, and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Rodney Wayne Causey of Peoria; one daughter, Deborah L. (Rev. W. Mark) Utech of Delavan; five grandchildren, Michael Thomas Causey and Mark Allan Causey, both of Peoria, Ryan Patrick Culp of East Peoria, Travis Nolan (Rebekah) Culp of Groveland, and William Christopher (Georgia) Utech of Green Valley; and one great-granddaughter, Kiley Marie Utech of Green Valley.

Mrs. Causey and her husband owned and operated Controlled Builders in Peoria from 1970 to 1980. She later was a sales associate at Von Maur and Dillard’s Department Stores, both in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She attended Days of Grace Fellowship in Morton. She enjoyed cooking.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the American Mausoleum in Peoria, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. W. Mark Utech, her son-in-law, will officiate.

Arrangements are by the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

LEORA E. UFHEIL
(1912~2005)

PEKIN – Leora Ellen Ufheil, 92, of 279 N. Lecanto Highway in Lecanto, Florida died at 5:30 p.m., Monday, June 13, 2005 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home in Hernando, Florida. She was formerly of 1471 Valle Vista Blvd. in Pekin.

Born December 13, 1912 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Clinton and Ida Keena Flathers, she married Albert Ufheil in December 1937 in Peoria.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 11, 1979 in Dunedin, Florida; 7 brothers; and 1 sister.

Surviving are 2 sons, John (Rosemary) Ufheil of Lecanto and James (Catherine) Ufheil of Medford, New Jersey; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Phyllis) Fabry of Wyoming, Illinois; and 1 sister, Mary (Ralph) Hanes of Maroa, Illinois.

A homemaker, she was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Pekin and the King’s Daughters.

She collected ceramic birds and bird photos and enjoyed reading.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2005 at First United Presbyterian Church in Pekin. Rev. Robert A. Scott will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

JAMES MCMILLIAN
(1925~2005)

PEKIN ~ James J. McMillian, 80, of 500 Centennial Drive in East Peoria, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005 at ManorCare at Riverview in East Peoria. He was formerly of 1324 South 2nd Street in Pekin.

Born February 22, 1925 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Horace J. and Bethel Higgins McMillian, he married M. Eileen Myers on January 30, 1947 in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Linda L. (Scott) Crawford of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michele D. Wiegand of East Peoria and Gail L. (David) Burrows of Peoria; seven grandchildren, Marla (Zak) Shockley of Greenfield, Indiana, Daniel Crawford of Indianapolis, Scott (Melissa) Wiegand, Missy Wiegand, both of East Peoria, Kelly Burrows, Kori Burrows and Eric Burrows, all of Peoria and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the 3rd airborne in New Guinea.

He was a retired member of Teamsters & Chauffeurs Union Local 627 in Peoria, working for N.E. Finch in East Peoria as a truck driver for many years until retiring.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 916 in Pekin and Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234.

A great musician who loved country music, Mr. McMillian was a life member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 301. He played the guitar since he was 9 years old and played for more than 20 years with the Glenn Reader Band.

He bowled in leagues at Sunset Lanes in Pekin for many years and was a member of the American Bowling Congress.

He enjoyed traveling and loved his family.

He attended First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Alan L. Newhall will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army in Pekin or to First United Methodist Church in East Peoria.

JAMES VICK
(1946 ~ 2005)

PEKIN – James Eugene Vick, 58, of 18442 Red Shale Hill Rd., died at 2:10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at his home.

Born December 24, 1946 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Willard Jackson and Carrie Russell Perkins Vick, he married Pat Freas on July 2, 1967 in Pekin.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Jim (P.J.) Vick and Scott (Amy) Vick, both of Delavan; 1 daughter, Tricia (Scott) Springer of Roanoke; 9 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Dale (Aloma) Vick of North Pekin, Kelly (Jill) Vick of Pekin; and 2 sisters, Brenda Vick and Annette Vick, both of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Vick worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 37 years, retiring April 1, 2002 as a technical program coordinator.

He was a member of Pekin Moose Lodge #916 and a former member of the Marquette Heights Lions Club.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and his grandchildren.

He attended Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Timothy Najpaver will officiate. Private Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Cancer Association or the Delavan Fire Department.

JAMES SCAMP
(1934 ~ 2005)

PEKIN – James Howard Scamp, 70, of Danville, Illinois died at 3:10 a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center of Champaign-Urbana in Urbana. He was formerly of Pekin.

He was born October 29, 1934 in South Pekin to Howard H. and Bernadine I. McCoy Scamp.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Bernadine and Thaddeus Just of Pekin; 3 daughters, Brenda (Michael) Young and Melissa (Jon) Little, both of Pekin, and Julia Greiner of Bourbonnais, Illinois; 1 son, Mark (Margo) Scamp of Pekin; and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Scamp last worked as a courier for Smith-Kline Pharmaceutical Company. Previously, he had managed several area restaurants for many years.

He formerly attended First United Methodist Church in Pekin.

He enjoyed cooking, reading, was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and animal lover.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
