DOROTHY MOTT
(1931 ~ 2005)

PEKIN ~ Dorothy “Dot” Mott, 73, of 5612 Williams in Omaha, Nebraska since 2003, died at 6:38 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.

She was formerly of 1906 St. Clair Drive in Pekin.

Born July 28, 1931 in Chicago to Arthur and Helen Snyder McCullough, she married Ernest T. Mott on June 24, 1950 in Pekin.

He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Steven A. (Gale) Mott and David E. (Lisa) Mott, both of Pekin and Thad W. (Teresa) Mott of Omaha and six grandchildren, Joe Mott, Nick Mott and Gina Mott, all of Pekin, Emma Mott, Elijah Mott and Esther Mott, all of Omaha.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arthur “Bud” McCullough.

A graduate of Pekin Community High School, Mrs. Mott worked as a legal secretary for an attorney at the Tazewell County Court House in Pekin until she received her real estate license.

She then worked as a real estate agent in the Pekin area for the next 10 years.

In 1990, she and her husband moved to Ontario, Canada until his retirement in 1995.

They then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks until 2000 when they moved back to Pekin.

Throughout her life, Dorothy was always active whether through walking, playing tennis or bowling.

She loved to work, she loved her family and she will be greatly missed.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pekin.

A celebration of life service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. following services.

Cremation has been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF Saint Frances Medical Center, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61603.

EDWARD O. LYNCH
(1920~2005)

PEKIN ~ Edward Oscar Lynch, 84, of 409 Manor Street, died at 9:54 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.

Born December 27, 1920 in Pocahontas County, Iowa to James R. and Emma Biittner Lynch, he married Ivanell M. “Ike” Schriver Lynch on February 2, 1945 in Mason City, Iowa.

She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Debra Marie Lynch of Potosi, Missouri; one brother, Francis R. (Shannon) Lynch of Varina, Iowa; and two sisters, Carmen (Marlin) Null and Betty (Hank) Sego, both of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

A heavy equipment operator for over 41 years, he last worked for N.E. Finch Construction Company in Peoria for 10 years, retiring January 9, 1986.

Previously, he had worked in strip mines.

He was a 53 year member of Operating Engineers Local #649 in Peoria.

He had volunteered as a dog trainer at the Pottstown Obedience Training School and also for Tazewell County 4-H Clubs.

He had written many articles in the 4-H newsletter.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.

Mr. Lynch has donated his body to science.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School Education Fund, 300 South 6th Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

LARRY A. SEVIER
(1943~2005)

PEKIN ~ Larry Albert Sevier, 61, of 1408 South 7th Street, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Pekin Hospital.

Born July 26, 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland to Albert Earl and Bessie May Roof Sevier, he married G. Marie Henderson on January 17, 1969 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Debi L. (Ron) Morris of Pekin, Cami L. (Luis) Sanabria of Odessa, Florida, and Kittra R. (Mick) Zantout of Manito; one son, Douglas L. (Andria) Lord of Morris; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra K. (Roy) Johnson of Pekin.

His parents preceded him in death.

A United States Army veteran of the Vietname War, he served from January 21, 1969 to January 20, 1971.

Mr. Sevier worked for the City of Pekin in the Inspections Department for 7 years as the Plumbing and Sewer Inspector, last working May 31, 2005.

He previously worked for Associated Mechanical Inc. (AMI) in East Peoria and at the Clinton Nuclear Power Plant in Clinton.

He was a 30 year member and past vice-president of Plumbers Local #63 in East Peoria and also had served as past president of its PAC.

He also was a member of the South Pekin Congregational Church, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #916 in Pekin, and the Peoria Sportsman Club in rural Manito, where he was a former board member.

He enjoyed woodworking, watching NASCAR, and collecting ducks.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

The Rev. Thomas R. Cone will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Pekin Salvation Army, 243 Derby Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554 or South Pekin Congregational Church, 202 Meyers Court, South Pekin, Illinois 61564.

DARRELL W. HEIMER
(1942~2005)

PEKIN – Darrell William Heimer, 62, of 1901 Greenview Dr. died at 1:36 p.m., Monday, September 5, 2005 in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.

Born September 28, 1942 in Pittsfield to Donald Wayne and Frances Chapman Heimer, he married Ann Morrow on February 22, 1962 in Seneca.

Surviving are his wife; 1 son, Darrell W. Heimer, Jr. of Pekin; 3 daughters, Debra (Michael) Bergerhouse and Cindy Stedman, both of Pekin, and Suzan Clark of Carthage;
6 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 6 brothers, Larry (Marika) Heimer of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Mike (Nikki) Heimer of Montgomery, Dave (DeeAnn) Heimer of Seneca, Jerry (Vicky) Heimer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeff (Emily) Heimer of Azle, Texas, and Tim (Denise) Heimer of Channahon.

Mr. Heimer owned and operated Heimer’s Battery Barn in Pekin for 27 years retiring in August 2005.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Pekin AMBUCS, Rexford, Inc., Mr. and Mrs. Dance Club, and was associated with the Oakridge Gun Club.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.

Rev. K. Michael Simminger will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Miller Senior Citizens Center dance program, 515 S. 14th St., Pekin, IL 61554 or to the Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Club, 1301 Weishaupt Rd., Mackinaw, IL 61755.

VIRGINIA MARGARET SAYLOR
(1925 ~ 2005)

CREVE COEUR ~ Virginia Margaret Saylor, 80, of 1110 New Castle Road, Washington, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

She was formerly of 101 LaSalle Avenue in Creve Coeur.

Born July 8, 1925 in Jacksonville to Gus L. and Margaret Teresa Blundell Abbott, she married Elwood Daniel Saylor on November 22, 1947 in Peoria.

Surviving are four daughters, Teresa L. “Terri” Montgomery and Danielle C. “Dani” (Mike) Watkins, both of Pekin, and Rhonda A. (Brad) Poff and Madonna D. “Donna” (Larry) Vaupel, both of Creve Coeur; one son, Stanley R. (Cathy) Saylor of Creve Coeur; six grandchildren, R. Perry Montgomery and Brian N. (Jenessa) Lutz, both of Pekin, Penny J. (Galen) Gathman of Topeka, Allison L. Poff and Alexandria M. Muir, both of Creve Coeur, and Nicolas R. (Kate) Saylor of Morton; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother (Francis “Pete” Abbott).

Mrs. Saylor worked for Boss Glove Company in Peoria and later was a telephone operator for Illinois Bell in Peoria.

She then worked as a secretary for A.C.T. Bending and Steel in Peoria.

She last was a bookkeeper for the Peoria Township Assistance Center, retiring in 1992.

She was a member and former treasurer of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur.

She was a former member of AFSCME Union.

She enjoyed crocheting and was a serious Wal-Mart shopper.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2005 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.

The Rev. Jim Gorby will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 30 minutes before services Monday both at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.

LULU MAE GENSEL
(1906 ~ 2005)

PEKIN ~ Lula Mae Gensel, 99, of 1471 Valle Vista Boulevard #2, died at 12:47 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2005 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.

Born April 29, 1906 in Pekin to Frank and Mary Setzer Hoyle, she married John William Gensel, Sr. on August 30, 1922 in Lewistown.

He died May 3, 1980 in Pekin.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter (Mary Gensel), five brothers, and six sisters.

Surviving are two sons, John W. (Louetta) Gensel and Robert F. (Virginia) Gensel, both of Pekin; one daughter, Alice M. (Manual) Jackson of Pekin; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and eighteen great-great-grandchildren.

A homemaker, Mrs. Gensel enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking.

She was a charter and the oldest living member of Pekin Bible Church, where she was a member of the Mary-Martha Circle.

She also was a longtime Sunday school teacher at the church.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2005 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services.

The Rev. Richard W. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin Bible Church, 2405 Court Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
