Marcia E. Both, 87, of Watseka, IL
Visitation for Marcia E. Both, 87, of Watseka, will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Woodland Methodist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Bobbi Shultz will officiate.

Burial will be in Body Cemetery, Woodland. Memorials may be made to Woodland Methodist Church. She died Friday (Aug. 1, 2008) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.

She was born Nov. 17, 1920, in Watseka, the daughter of Benjamin A. and Hazel Cavitt West. Her husband, Webster Cavitt, whom she married July 8, 1945, in Watseka, died April 30, 1950. She later married Nathaniel C. Both on Dec. 26, 1953, in Watseka. He died May 29, 1971. She was a member of the Belmont Club.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Loretta Both of Castle Rock, Colo., Jim and Kathie Both of Watseka; one stepdaughter, Carolyn Bowen of Ignacio, Colo.; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Nathaniel and Jane Both of Rowlett, Texas; five grandsons, Douglas, Neil, Ben, Daniel, and Christopher Both; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Ralph Johnson, Virginia and Howard Orcutt, all of Watseka; and one brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Lois West of Watseka.

Deceased are one daughter, Carol Kasper; and her parents.

Mary Jane Seyfert, 77, of Watseka, IL (formerly of Milford, IL)

Visitation for Mary Jane Seyfert, 77, of Watseka, formerly of Milford, will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Rusty Beals will officiate.

Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Stockland. Memorials may be made to the Stockland Methodist Church, where she was a member; the Janie Wilken Memorial Scholarship, the Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's choice. She died Friday (Aug. 1, 2008) at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.

She was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Alvin, the daughter of Bud and Zella Humphreys Potter. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing and farming.

Surviving are her husband, Howard Seyfert, whom she married Dec. 31, 1950, in Alvin; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and John Mecklenburg of Tinley Park, Shirley and Rick Roth of Boswell, Ind., Sandy and Harold Wilken of Danforth; two sons, Bill Seyfert and Phillip Seyfert, both of Milford; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Deceased are one granddaughter, Janie Wilken; and two brothers.

T. Roger Tebo, 90, of Cissna Park, IL
T. Roger Tebo died Thursday (July 31, 2008) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. today (August 1), with a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service conducted by Lodge 609, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (August 2) at Grace Bible Church, Cissna Park, where he was a member. Pastor Trey Scheffer will officiate.

Burial will be in Buswell Cemetery, Kentland, IN. Memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church.

Mr. Tebo was a lifelong farmer. He was born May 5, 1918, in Brook, IN., the son of Thomas and Florence Brees Tebo. His first wife, the former Jean Mead, whom he married Dec. 24, 1936, in Morocco, Ind., died May 10, 1986. He later married the former Ruth Plott on Feb. 28, 1987 in Danville. She died May 18, 1995. He was a member of the Sheldon Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Odd Fellows; former president and member of Donovan School District Board 3 for many years, and a member of the Beaver Township Board. He was a Silver Beaver Award winner and a former Boy Scout leader. He enjoyed traveling and collecting toy tractors and farming.

Surviving are his wife, the former Erma Kaufmann Martin, whom he married Sept. 28, 1996; one daughter, Pauline Scharf of Oswego; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kate Tebo of Chillicothe; three granddaughters, Kimberly Scharf of Aurora, Maradee Scharf of Oswego, and Tisha Tebo of Elgin; two stepsons, Randall and Rex Martin of Cissna Park; three stepdaughters and stepsons-in-law, Michelle and Ralph Henrichs of Cissna Park, Audrey and Carl Block of Mesa, Ariz., Denise and Robert Horner of Cissna Park; 11 stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

Deceased are his parents; one son-in-law, Donald Scharf; and five brothers, Rex, Archie, Richard, Glenn and Carl Tebo.

Bessie M. Giroux, 87, of Watseka, IL, formerly of Martinton, IL
Visitation for Bessie M. Giroux will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka, where she was a member. The Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Martinton. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or for Masses. She died Tuesday (July 29, 2008) at her home.

Mrs. Giroux worked for the Iroquois County Clerk for more than 21 years. She was also the town clerk of Iroquois Township for several years. She was born April 2, 1921, in Martinton, the daughter of Charles and Millie Coash Hathaway.

Surviving are two daughters, Kay Dean of Hanover Park, Marcia Baker of Bolingbrook; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lynnette Giroux of Decatur; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Lamoureaux of Denver, CO.

Deceased are one son, Robert "Bud" Giroux; and one sister, Elsie Chadwick.

Richard C. Lambert, 76, of Milford, IL
Visitation for Richard C. Lambert will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2. The Rev. Robert Killion will officiate.

Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Stockland. Memorials may be made to the Milford Church of the Nazarene. He died Tuesday (July 29, 2008) at the Watseka Rehab and Health Care Center.

Mr. Lambert had been a machinist at Capitol Products Corp. in Kentland, Ind., for more than 20 years. He was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Sheldon, the son of Gail and Pearl Hiestand Lambert. He was a member of the Milford Church of the Nazarene, where he enjoyed being an usher. He also enjoyed baking, gardening and flowers.

Surviving are his wife, the former Ida Mae Probasco, of Milford, whom he married Dec. 14, 1984, in Danville; one daughter, Dawn Lambert of Iroquois; one son, Richard B. Hogle of Vicksburg, Miss.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Prater of Watseka; and two brothers, Gordon Lambert of Watseka, and Gail Lambert Jr. of Sheldon.

Dorothy C. Sterrenberg, 94, of Milford, IL

Visitation for Dorothy C. Sterrenberg will be from noon Sunday, August 3, until the 2:00 p.m. services at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford, where she was a member. The Rev. Jason Wagner will officiate. Graveside services will follow at 5:00 p.m. in Sullivan Center Cemetery, Cullom. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Radio Ministry or to Iroquois Memorial Hospice of Watseka. She died Tuesday (July 29, 2008) at the Gilman Nursing Center. Knapp Funeral Home, Milford, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born April 6, 1914, in Cullom, the daughter of Thomas J. and Caroline J. Gassler Penwitt. Her husband, Francis E. Sterrenberg, whom she married June 20, 1940, in Cullom, died Sept. 18, 1986. She was a member of the Milford Household Science Club and the Dorcas Society at her church.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Jim Hack of Champaign, Linda and Al Kellerhals of Milford; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two stepgreat-grandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Gertrude A. Teske, 83, of Crescent City, IL

Gertrude A. Teske died Friday (July 25, 2008) at her home. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Watseka, until the 11 a.m. services. The Rev. Donald Love will officiate.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watseka. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

She was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Ada, MN, the daughter of Hugo and Anna Horn Hasz. Her husband, Elmer C. Teske, whom she married Aug. 19, 1945, in Chebanse, died Dec. 27, 1984. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to write poetry.

Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lorraine Raymond of Chattanooga, TN, Linda and Larry Leveque of St. Anne, Beverly Smith of Mackinaw, Nancy and Larry Redeker of Crescent City; six grandchildren, Donald (Lydia) Leveque of St. Anne, Stephen Raymond of Chattanooga, Jason Redeker of Cissna Park, Amy Leveque and Nathan Kroll of St. Anne, Mallory Joe Redeker and Joel Redeker, both of Crescent City; and three great-grandchildren, Ty Raymond, Ethan and Noah Leveque; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Edna Yarno of Kankakee, Dorothy Knake of Milford, Helen and Mike Meents of Chebanse; and one brother and sister-in-law, Hugo and Ellen Hasz of Ohio.

Deceased are her parents and one brother, Arnold Hasz.

Ronald C. Henke, 82, of Valrico, Florida; formerly of Watseka & Milford
Visitation for Roland C. Henke, will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (July 29) and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (July 30) at the First United Methodist Church, Watseka, until the 10:30 a.m. services. The Rev. Hubert Lytle will officiate. Memorials may be made to Life Path Hospice or to the First United Methodist Church. He died Wednesday (July 23, 2008) in Temple Terrace, FL. Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Henke was a retired farmer. He was born April 26, 1926, in Milford, the son of Martin and Lena Geiken Henke. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brandon, Fla., and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Watseka.

Surviving are his wife, the former Joyce Leiding Light, of Valrico, whom he married Feb. 3, 1984, in Watseka; one son, Roger Henke of Arizona; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Leonard and Sharyl Light of Watseka, Steven and Tammy Light of Salem; and five stepgrandchildren.

One sister, Rosalie Steiner, is deceased.

Wilma J. Thomas, 90, of Watseka, IL

Wilma J. Thomas died Wednesday (July 23, 2008) at the Sheldon Health Care Center. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, with a 7:45 p.m. rosary service, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25, at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka, where she was a member. The Rev. Robert Bernotas will officiate.

Burial will be in GAR Cemetery, Watseka.

Memorials may be made to the Sheldon Health Care Center or to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Mrs. Thomas was a caregiver to several families in the Watseka area.

She was born April 23, 1918, in Milford, the daughter of Moses Peter and Louise Foley Hubert. Her husband, Earl W. "Dick" Thomas, whom she married Sept. 25, 1937, in Kentland, Ind., died May 22, 1980.

Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Dianne Juarez of Santa Monica, Calif., Rebecca and Douglas Haddow of Palm City, Fla.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Lexie Mabbitt and Kim Williamson, both of Sheldon.

One brother, Kenneth Hubert, is deceased.

Reva L. McCarty, 97, of Watseka, IL

Reva L. McCarty died Wednesday (July 23, 2008) at her home.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Saturday (July 26) until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.

The Rev. Larry Schultz will officiate.

Burial will be in Buswell Cemetery, Kentland, IN.

Memorials may be made to Iroquois United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member; Iroquois Memorial Hospice; Heritage Woods Activity Fund or to the donor's choice.

Mrs. McCarty was born Jan. 21, 1911, in Kentland, the daughter of Charles and Vernia Whiteakker Armold. Her husband, Verle B. McCarty, whom she married May 10, 1930, in Kentland, died Nov. 9, 1994.

Reva lived all of her adult life in and around Iroquois, and was always an active member of the community.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Iroquois/Watseka for more than 50 years.

She loved to cook and was well known in the Iroquois area for her delicious pies and her special recipe cole slaw served at the Iroquois Church turkey suppers for many years.

She lived in her home in Iroquois until she was 93 years old; then moved to Heritage Woods when it opened.

She thoroughly enjoyed her life there being pampered by the excellent staff.

Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Lou and Floyd West of Kankakee, Betty Ewen of Normal; five grandsons, Tim (Pam) West of Bourbonnais, Gary (Jan) Ewen of Heyworth, Bruce (Kristi) Ewen of St. Francis, MN, Mike Ewen of Normal, Thom (Colleen) Ewen of Bloomington; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Kathryn Hancock of West Lafayette, IN; one sister-in-law, Helen Armold of Rensselaer, IN; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are her parents; two brothers, Harold and Eugene Armold; and three sisters, Delma Herre, Myrtle Weurthner and Pauline Whaley.

George R. Wright, 62, of Milford, IL

Visitation for George R. Wright will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23rd at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24th. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.

Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery, Stockland. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

He died Sunday (July 20, 2008) at the Watseka Rehab and Health Care Center.

Mr. Wright was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Albany, Ky., the son of Roy and Dorothy Cross Wright. His wife, the former Margaret Bryant, whom he married Oct. 1, 1965, in Danville, died in April 1979.

He enjoyed fishing and horse racing.

Surviving are one daughter, Lisa Wright of Manitowoc, Wis.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Patty Wright of Ellington, Mo., Bobby Wright of Salem, David Wright of Milford; one stepdaughter, Charity Wernigk of Ludlow; one stepson, Chad Smith of Kentucky; several grandchildren; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Wilda Wright of Woodland, Fred and Thelma Wright of Milford, Carl and Jeannie Wright of Salisbury, Md., Marvin and Debbie Wright of Watseka; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace and Clarence Brown, Wanda and Red Wallace, all of Hoopeston; special friend, Sherry Lucas of Ohio; goddaughter, Alexandra Morris of Danville; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his parents and one son, Alex.

Irma M. Wolfe, 78, of Chebanse, IL

Irma W. Wolfe died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Faith Place in Danforth. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Zion Lutheran Church, Chebanse, where she was a member. The Rev. Kene Whybrew will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Chebanse. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran School, Chebanse.

Mrs. Wolfe was a homemaker. She was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Chebanse, the daughter of Albert and Clara Meyer Nordmeyer. Her husband, August C. Wolfe, whom she married July 29, 1950, in Chebanse, died June 22, 2004. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at her church and the Chebanse Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and crafting. She was an avid Cubs fan.

Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Kyrouac of Lafayette, Ind., Nancy and Ron Lee of Yorkville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Gail Wolfe of Park Ridge; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth West of Hobart, Ind., Delma and Clarence Wendling of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rita and Donald Baker of Chebanse; and one brother and sister-in-law, Durl and Sandra Nordmeyer of Chebanse.

Deceased are four brothers, Lester, Louis, Raynold and Wilbert; and one sister, Irene.

Richard J. Scott, 75, of Chebanse, IL

Richard James Scott died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends. No public services will be held.

Mr. Scott was born Feb. 22, 1934, the son of Ralph and Marie Scott of Onarga. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958. Upon his return home he worked at A.O. Smith Corporation, Kankakee, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a well-known figure on the local stock car circuit, building and modifying his own race cars. He had a tireless work ethic, always willing to help out anyone in need. He was devoted to his family and a blessing to all who knew him. He was recently baptized and a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Scott of Chebanse; two sons, Jerry D. Scott of Woodland, Marshall L. Scott of Onarga; one daughter, Debbie A. Raboin of O'Fallon; and six grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by sisters, Marietta Gellinger of Crescent City, Marge Hall and husband Ben of Palm Springs, Calif., Joanne Balzer of Morongo Valley, Calif., Beverly Kerchefaut Throop of Gilman, Donna Lubben and husband John of Crescent City, Patricia Kraft, Sue Jordan and husband Dick, and Sharon Mulligan, all of Onarga; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Hess of Danforth, and Gene Hess and wife Ann of Clifton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
