Phyllis E. Lauterbach died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at Faith Lutheran Church in Watseka, until the 10:00 a.m. services. The Revs. Kevin Garner and Joseph Dapelo will officiate.
Burial will be in Prairie Dell Cemetery, Watseka. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
She was born March 20, 1936, in Watseka, the daughter of Harold and Edna Taylor Garner. Her husband, Robert H. Lauterbach, whom she married Jan. 15, 1955, in Sheldon, died Feb. 10, 1990. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was a collector of dolls, glassware, figurines and plates.
Surviving are one brother and five sisters-in-law, William and Frances Garner of Crescent City, Phyllis Garner of Watseka, Joann Sloan and Janice Ringler, both of Milford, Marilyn Albee of Tucson, Ariz.; five nephews, David, Daniel, Terry, Michael and Kevin Garner; and many cousins and close friends.
Deceased are her parents and one brother, Robert Garner.
Edward E. Peters, 87 of Watseka, IL
Edward E. Peters died Monday, March 9, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Watseka, until the 11:00 a.m. services. The Rev. Donald Love will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside rites by the Watseka American Legion Post 23 and the Iroquois County VFW Post 7450, will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watseka. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church preschool or to the donor’s choice.
Mr. Peters had been a service technician at Watseka Bottle Gas. He was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Cissna Park, the son of Herman and Miriam Lisse Peters. His wife, the former Marian Lober, whom he married March 16, 1945, in Riverside, Calif., died April 29, 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Air Corps serving during World War II and was a member of the Watseka American Legion. He was also a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Calvary Lutheran Men’s Club. He enjoyed golfing 
and was a member of the Shewami Country Club.
Surviving are two sons, Ron Peters of Watseka, Scott (Donna) Peters of Endwell, N.Y.; two daughters, Donna (Marvin) Kellems-Blair of Watseka, Renee (Jerome) Epplin of Litchfield; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Ardelle) Peters of Crescent City, Warren (Fran) Peters of Watseka; four sisters, Christine Schleef of Apache Junction, Ariz., Elizabeth (Louis) Darby of LaJunta, Colo., Ruth Peck of Sanford, Mich., Miriam (Larry) Larkin of Virginia Beach, Va.; and special friend, Marge “Maggie” Kraay of Watseka.
Deceased are one brother, Art; and one sister, Dorothy.
Richard J. Scott, 75, of Chebanse, IL
Richard James Scott died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends. No public services will be held.
Mr. Scott was born Feb. 22, 1934, the son of Ralph and Marie Scott of Onarga. He served his country in the U.S.
Army from 1956-1958. Upon his return home he worked at A.O. Smith Corporation, Kankakee, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a well-known figure on the local stock car circuit, building and modifying his own race cars. He had a tireless work ethic, always willing to help out anyone in need. He was devoted to his family and a blessing to all who knew him. He was recently baptized and a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Scott of Chebanse; two sons, Jerry D. Scott of Woodland, Marshall L. Scott of Onarga; one daughter, Debbie A. Raboin of O’Fallon; and six grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by sisters, Marietta Gellinger of Crescent City, Marge Hall and husband Ben of Palm Springs, Calif., Joanne Balzer of Morongo Valley, Calif., Beverly Kerchefaut Throop of Gilman, Donna Lubben and husband John of Crescent City, Patricia Kraft, Sue Jordan and husband Dick, and Sharon Mulligan, all of Onarga; and brothers-in-law, Arnold Hess of Danforth, and Gene Hess and wife Ann of Clifton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Ila Darlene Hynd, 92, of Onarga, IL
Ila Darlene Hynd died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at her home. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga, where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21. The Rev. Matt Steendahl will officiate.
Burial will be in Onarga Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
She was born Oct. 2, 1916, in Del Rey, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Margretta Montz Austin. Her husband, Herald McKinley “Kinley” Hynd, whom she married June 13, 1936, in Kentland, Ind., died Jan. 15, 1978. She was a member of the Onarga United Methodist Church. She loved to vacation in Wisconsin. She also loved gardening, reading, working crossword puzzles, her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Gail and Marvin Robinson of Beason, Linda and Myron Cailteux of Clifton, Nancy Yates of Bloomington, Leslie and Paul VanHoveln of Onarga; 11 grandchildren, Debra Ertl, Darvin (Tammy) Robinson, Gerald (Julie) Cailteux, Julie (Greg) Tholen, Kenneth (Tammy) Cailteux, Andrew (Jennifer) Cailteux, Elizabeth Yates, Anne (Charles) Atteberry, Chris (Mandy) VanHoveln, Tammy (Darrin) Kregel and Sara (Dave) Powell; 20 great-grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Orin Ireland of Onarga.
Deceased are her parents; one grandson, Richard Cailteux; one son-in-law, Bill Yates; one brother, Donald Austin; and five sisters, Ruth Skates, Rheta Fisher, Margaret Windhorn, Mary Ireland and Maxine Shannon Sewing.
Virginia B. Moore, 98, of Rantoul, IL
Virginia B. Moore died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Prairie Village in Rantoul. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22. The Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate.
Burial will be in Belmont Cemetery, Watseka. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Watseka, where she was a former member; Iroquois County Historical Society; Covenant Hospice; or the Illinois Audubon Society.
Mrs. Moore was a former music teacher in the Watseka area for many years. She was born Nov. 12, 1910, in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Charles J. and Pearl Osburn Wild Mann. Her husband, Ralph D. Moore, whom she married June 15, 1933, in Gilman, died June 22, 1984. She played the cello in the Kankakee Symphony Orchestra and Iroquois Strings for many years. She enjoyed gardening and genealogy.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Janice and Michael Schnurr, Beverly Frailey; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are one daughter, Mary Kay; one great-grandchild, three great-great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
Barbara J. Coleman, 76, of Onarga, IL
Barbara J. Coleman died Monday, March, 16, 2009, at Watseka Rehad and Health Care Center. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Liz Reis will officiate.

Mrs. Coleman was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Vandalia, the daughter of Harold and Lillian Lawson Nighsonger.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Coleman, whom she married June 11, 1956, in Buckley; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Nancy Coleman of Onarga; three grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline Tilstra of Norfork, Ark., Lois Hickman of Effingham and Ruth Garrelts of Buckley; and one brother, Edwin Nighsonger of Springfield.
Deceased are one son, Marten Coleman; and one sister, Maxine Measaw.

Bernice Tomes died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Sheldon Health Care Center. Cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services.
She was born March 26, 1932, in Chicago.
Michielle K. Lynam, 55, of Sheldon, IL
Michielle K. Lynam died Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Haddox Ferry Park in Calvert City, KY. Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ms. Lynam was born Sept. 4, 1953, in Joliet, the daughter of Walter E. and Charlotte B. Bell Korst. She enjoyed fishing, horses, animals and the outdoors.
Surviving are one son, Michael J. Lynam of Sheldon; two grandchildren; and her mother, Charlotte Schorie of Sheldon.
Her stepfather, Jack H. Schorie, is deceased.

Phyllis Jensen Utter died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Bourbonnais. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, with a 7:45 p.m. prayer service, with the Rev. Lee Ryan officiating, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, and from 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka, until the 10:30 a.m. services. The Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate.
Burial will be in Clifton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
She was born March 5, 1924, in Banbridge, Ireland, the daughter of William and Margaret Strain Clydesdale. Her first husband, Robert H. Jensen, whom she married May 9, 1945, in Neury, Ireland, died March 9, 1980. She later married Charles “Pete” A. Utter on Oct. 10, 1981, in Watseka. He died Dec. 30, 2006. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watseka. She enjoyed knitting and crafts.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Dianna and Robert Keipe of Bourbonnais, Sandra and Loren Kohler of Watseka, Patricia and Mike Butler of Martinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Sue Jensen of Sheldon, Dennis and Shirley Jensen of Indianapolis, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Lenore Clydesdale of Ireland; and special friend, Karen Berg of Bourbonnais.
Deceased are three grandchildren, one brother and one sister.
Terry J. Walker, 53, of Watseka, IL
Terry J. Walker died at 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2009, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26. Pastor Elaine Daugherty will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watseka. Memorials may be made to True Vine Church.
Mr. Walker had worked for the city of Watseka for eight years and did mechanic work. He was born Feb. 5, 1956, in Lincolnton, N.C., the son of Warren and Mary B. Rudisill Walker. He enjoyed working outside and spending time with his family. He liked restoring old cars and furniture. He played the drums in various bands over the years and at True Vine Church, where he was a member.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Norris, whom he married Nov. 15, 1975, in Watseka; one son, Terry (Sarah) Walker Jr. of Fayetteville, Ark.; one daughter, Misty Walker-Kottke of Watseka; three grandchildren, Stephanie Baker, and Shaeley and Sierra Kunce; two brothers, Ronnie Walker, and Tim (Sue) Walker, both of Watseka; four sisters, Sue (Paul) Anderson of North Carolina, Vicki (Brad) Downs of Paris, Ethel Harwood of Crescent City, Lori (Frank) Siegmaster of Donovan; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Deceased are his parents and one brother, Tony Walker.

Akemi Bauman, 41, of Abiko, Japan, wife of a former Watseka resident, died May 1, 2008, in Tokyo, Japan. A memorial visitation will be held from noon Sunday, March 29, 2009 until the 1:00 p.m. memorial service at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
Inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Watseka.
Mrs. Bauman was a member of Sogetsu School of Japanese Flower Arranging. She was born March 1, 1967, in Abiko, the daughter of Itsuo and Yukie Hanashima Iwai.
Surviving are her husband, John Lee Bauman Jr., of Abiko, whom she married Dec. 10, 1994, in Tokyo; two daughters, Selena and Elena Bauman, both of Abiko; her mother of Abiko; and one brother, Naoki Iwai of Abiko.
Her father is deceased.
Irma M. Wolfe, 78, of Chebanse, IL
Irma W. Wolfe died Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Faith Place in Danforth. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at the Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, at Zion Lutheran Church, Chebanse, where she was a member. The Rev. Kene Whybrew will officiate.

Mrs. Wolfe was a homemaker. She was born Sept. 26, 1930, in Chebanse, the daughter of Albert and Clara Meyer Nordmeyer. Her husband, August C. Wolfe, whom she married July 29, 1950, in Chebanse, died June 22, 2004. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at her church and the Chebanse Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing,
needlepoint
and crafting. She was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Kyrouac of Lafayette, Ind., Nancy and Ron Lee of Yorkville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Gail Wolfe of Park Ridge; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth West of Hobart, Ind., Delma and Clarence Wendling of Colorado Springs, Colo., Rita and Donald Baker of Chebanse; and one brother and sister-in-law, Durl and Sandra Nordmeyer of Chebanse.
Deceased are four brothers, Lester, Louis, Raynold and Wilbert; and one sister, Irene.
Betty Cooper, 66, of Sheldon, IL, formerly of Lowell, IN
Betty Cooper died Thursday, April 2, 2009, at her home. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 6. The Rev. James Small will officiate.

Mrs. Cooper was a long-term substitute schoolteacher for the Lowell and Cedar Lake, Ind. school districts. She was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Milan, Tenn., the daughter of Holland and Maggie Mae Blankenship McAdams. She was a graduate of Purdue University. She was a member and past president of Dames and Dolls of northwestern Indiana and enjoyed making and collecting dolls.
Surviving are her husband, William R. Cooper, whom she married Feb. 1, 1975, in Cherry Hill; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Michael and Kelly Elderson of Bourbonnais, Keith and Tracey Elderson of Kankakee, David Thompson of Braidwood, Peter and Jamie Cooper of De Motte, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Megan, Katelyn, Ryan and Marissa Elderson, Owen and Hannah Cooper, and Brian Thompson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Debbie McAdams of Olive Branch, Miss., Robert and Candy Wilson of Byhalia, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents are deceased.
Vivian McCay Rosenberger, 80, of Milford, IL
Vivian McCay Rosenberger went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Vivian was born Oct. 21, 1928, in Sheldon, the daughter of Willard and Tressie Doud McCay. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Joyce McCay.
Surviving are one brother, Robert McCay of Goodwine; and one sister, Wilma McCray of Rochester, Ind.
Vivian married Arthur Wayne Rosenberger on Feb. 27, 1950, in Danville. He survives as do four sons, Mark of Bloomington, Ind., Terry of Naperville, Tom of Atlanta, Ga. and Scott of Milford; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Vivian’s passions included painting, reading, volunteering and teaching. She served the Iroquois County Historical Society, American Cancer Society, Red Cross, 4-H, Hoopeston Art Association, Mental Health Board and Milford Christian Church.
A celebration of Vivian’s life will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 3, at the Milford Christian Church Life Center Gymnasium. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, April 4, at the Milford Christian Church. Burial will follow at the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Stockland. Memorials may be made to the Milford Christian Church or to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
Roy G. German, Jr., 75, of Milford, IL
Roy Glen German Jr. died Monday, March 30, 2009, at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 4. The Rev. Rusty Beals will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside rites by Milford American Legion Post 723, will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Milford. Memorials may be made to Milford United Methodist Church or to Milford Ambulance Service.
Mr. German was a mechanic at Milford and Fremont Canning Co., working his way up to plant superintendent and retired after 30 years of service. He was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Stockland Township, the son of Roy Sr. and Bernice A. Classen German. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed woodworking, mowing and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dorothy Hill, whom he married Jan. 24, 1953, in Milford; one son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sandy German of Milford; two daughters and one son-in-law, Glenda Ennen of Maryville, Tenn., Karen and John Brasel of Milford; and six grandchildren.
One sister, Norma Boatman, is deceased.
