John Joseph Wilking, 60, of Chebanse, died on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Merkle-Knipprath Nursing Home in Clifton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse. The Rev. Kene Whybrew will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.
Mr. Wilking was born March 27, 1949 in Kankakee, IL, a son of Amos C. and Virginia M. Keller Wilking Sr. He married Susie Ann Walter on July 10, 1976 in Bay City, MI. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Jamie Wilking of Chebanse; one sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and William Schatz of Kankakee; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Amos “Butch” and Patricia Wilking of Chebanse and Raymond “Buzz” and Pamela Wilking of Kankakee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sons.
Mr. Wilking was a truck driver for Wilking Trucking for 38 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse.

Evelyn Marie Clark, 93, Normal, IL
Evelyn Marie Clark, 93, of Normal, IL, formerly of Watseka, Gilman and Danforth, died on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Heartland Healthcare of Normal.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. services on Friday, September 25 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka. The Rev. Joe Dapelo will officiate. Burial will be in Wenger Cemetery in Gilman.
Mrs. Clark was born December 12, 1915 in Gilman, IL, a daughter of Fred and Jesena Behrends Goller. She married Wilbur Vincent Stemke on June 1, 1935 in Danforth, IL. He preceded her in death in 1971. She later married John Clark on Nov. 6, 1972. He also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Roger Gillenwater and Linda and John Whitlow all of Normal, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gerald and Dr. Janet Stemke of Edmonton Alberta Canada and Larry and Joan Stemke of Chatsworth; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Goller of Florida and Mardell Goller of Rochester, IN; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; one son, William Stemke; and one grandson, Todd Stemke.
Mrs. Clark was a member of Ladies Aid – Danforth; the VFW Ladies Auxiliary – Watseka; the ARC of Iroquois County; and Rachel Circle – Watseka. She enjoyed making crafts, workig at the bazaar at Welles School, painting and crocheting.
Memorials may be made to ARC of Iroquois County or Donor’s Choice.

Keith Alan Marquis, 55, Martinton, IL
Keith Alan Marquis, 55, of Martinton, IL died Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 22 from 4-8 p.m. at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. services on Wednesday, September 23, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Martinton.
Mr. Marquis was born January 26, 1954 in Watseka, IL, a son of Eldon “Ferd” and Meda Reed Marquis. He married Janice Corbin on June 4, 1977 in Martinton. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Damon and Kayla Marquis of St. Louis, MO, Shea and Holly Marquis of Bourbonnais and Beau Marquis and fiancee, Andrea Bullion, of Bradley; one daughter, Renee Marquis and fiancee, Carl Salamone, of Milwaukee, WI; and one sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Dennis Figg of Martinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Marquis was owner/operator of Manito Transit. He enjoyed spending time with his family, was a sports enthusiast and was an avid White Sox fan.

MaryAnn Fanning, 83, Milford, IL
MaryAnn Fanning, 83, of Milford, IL died Friday, September 18, 2009 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the 11 a.m. services on Friday, September 25 at the Milford Christian Church in Milford. The Rev. Brent Zastrow will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family Burial will be held at Apostolic Christian Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Fanning was born November 15, 1925 in Pekin, IL, a daughter of Willliam and Mary Margaret Moser Wyss. She married Alvin Fanning on May 28, 1948 in Owensboro, KY. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2002.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Bonnie Fanning of Bremen, IN, Sam and Terri Fanning of Milford; one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Darrell Emme of North Platte, NE; six grandchildren and their spouses, Skip and Mary Fanning of Bremen, IN, Rob and Heather Fanning of Cordova, IL Nichole and Berto Leone of Peoria, IL, Jackie and Josh Meister of Tracy, CA, Danielle Emme of Elkins, WV, and Scott Emme of Canberra, Australila; and five great-grandchildren, Ben, Leah, Amy and Jack Fanning of Bremen, IN and Ava Meister of Tracy, CA.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.
Mrs. Fanning had been a switchboard/telephone operator for Illinois Bell. She also worked the switchboard at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, had driven military officers around via jeep in San Jose, California during WWII, and worked at the Milford Library in the Children’s Library. She volunteered at Iroquois Memorial Hospital and Milford Christian Church, where she was also a member. She was also a member of The Household Science Club, Milford Women’s Club and Iroquois Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, BINGO and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Milford Christian Church or Iroquois Memorial Hospital.

Grace L. Peters, 96, Paxton, IL
Grace L. Peters, 96, of Paxton, IL died on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Illinois Knights Templar Home in Paxton.
Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the 2:00 p.m. service on Saturday, September 19 at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton. Pastor Jeff Cottingham will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Paxton.
Mrs. Peters was born July 30, 1913 in Royal, IL, a daughter of Simon and Hiska Duitsman Osterbur. She married Lloyd Peters in 1933 in Champaign, IL. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1986.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Paul Arthur of Rantoul; one son, Donald Peters of Paxton; one half-sister, Betty Fish of Masschusetts; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John B. Osterbur; one sister, Ann Reichardt; and one step-brother, Henry Dabney.
Mrs. Peters was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Paxton, Mary Circle and Paxton Women’s Club.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church of Paxton, Paxton Carnegie Library or Donor’s Choice.

Marvin Jack Winings, 73, Watseka, IL
Marvin Jack Winings, 73, of Watseka, IL, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at his home.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, September 18 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka where an 11 a.m. service will be held on Saturday, September 19. The Rev. James Small will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka, IL.
Mr. Winings was born July 7, 1936 in Gays, IL, a son of Glenn and Margaret Hicks Winings. He married Diane Wright on June 29, 1957 in Chicago, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Irene Winings and a special niece, Patricia Cleary, all of New Lenox, IL.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Mr. Winings was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Robert (Bob) W. Shaw, 90, Rankin, IL
Robert (Bob) W. Shaw, 90, of Rankin, died September 16, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center in Paxton. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin with a 2 hour prior visitation. Rev. Janet Longtin will be officiating and military rites will be by Cissna Park American Legion Post #527. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services with Burial in Rankin Union Cemetery.
Robert was born the son of Presly and Ada Kimberlin Shaw on June 9, 1919 in Harpster, IL. He married Loella Hill on August 23, 1949 in Mattoon, IL. She survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Penny Shaw (Roy Johnson) of Savoy, IL; one son, Timothy Shaw (Craig Rasmussen) of Elkhorn, WI; two grandchildren, Dustin Shaw and Drew Shaw of Elkhorn, WI; and one nephew, Cecil Shaw of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and an infant daughter.
Robert served in the U.S. Army 28 Infantry 110 Division Company M. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe, and The Battle of the Bulge. In Pennsylvania, he was General Bradley’s Driver. Robert was a 63 year member of the American Legion Post #527. Robert was an Electrician for IBEW Local 538 for 55 years. He was also an amateur radio operator, W9EII, and a member and participant of ARRL. He enjoyed working with electronics.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mary E. Withers, 95, Claytonville, IL
Mary E. Withers, 95, of Claytonville, died at 10:45 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, IL.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Pastor Matt Steendahl will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.
Mrs. Withers was born May 24, 1914 in Nickelsville, VA, a daughter of John and Mossie Wolfe Collins. She married William Withers on November 5, 1932 in Kankakee. He preceded her in death on October 24, 1983.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Lyle Markwalder of Potomac; one brother and sister-in-law, Claude and Wanda Collins of Royal Center, IN; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth Provo of Wolcott, IN, Martha Stefaniak of Monticello, IN, Virginia and Jim Taylor of Indianapolis, IN, Dorothy and Larry Merrell and Mildred Nelson all of Lafayette, IN; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, her twin, Hugh, Lynn and James; three sisters, Ann Holscher, Fern Staten and Betty Sales; one son, William Withers; and one daughter, Joan McConnell.
Mrs. Withers had been a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Schwer and enjoyed growing flowers.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Schwer.

Dean Ellsworth Brown, 70, Watseka, IL
Dean Ellsworth Brown, 70, of Watseka, IL, died at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Thursday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Crescent City. The Rev. Joel Brown will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Crescent City.
Mr. Brown was born June 10, 1939 in Monticello, IL, a son of Wade Ellsworth and Emerzilla Harshbarger Brown. He married Gloria Jean Windhorn on September 20, 1959 in Danforth, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Wayne and Jeanne Brown of Watseka, Jeff and Gail Brown of Bloomington and Kevin and fiancee, Audra, of Sheldon; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Delmar Graham of Urbana; one brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Sheila Brown of Bourbonnais; two sisters-in-law, Arvella Wolf of Florida and Alverda and Tom Voigt of Watseka; three brothers-in-law, Ardell Windhorn of Crescent City, Pastor Eldor and Joyce Windhorn of Westfield, IN and Harlan Windhorn of Bourbonnais; many nieces and nephews; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Mr. Brown retired from Standard Register in 2001 after thirty-three years of service. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Crescent City. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his family, antiquing, attending flea markets, old ships, and watching Illini basketball.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Crescent City or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Robert S. Poprawski, 77, Champaign, IL
Robert S. Poprawski, 77, of Champaign, IL died on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his home.
A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. The Rev. James Small will officiate. Burial will be in the Brenton Twp. Cemetery in Piper City, IL.
Mr. Poprawski was born November 11, 1931 in Michigan, a son of Stanley and Catherine Schlueter Poprawski.
Survivors include one niece, Jennifer and Rick Mejia of Houston, TX; several cousins; and special neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dolores M. Porawski; and one step-brother, Joseph Wilson.
Memorials may be made to the Onarga Christian Church or Donor’s Choice.

Gerald G. Stuckey, 92, Martinton, IL
Gerald G. Stuckey, 92, ofGerald Stuckey Obit Pic2 Martinton, IL died Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and for one hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. service on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Martinton Church of Christ in Martinton. Pastor Chauncy Lattimer Jr. will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Mr. Stuckey was born October 9, 1916 inViewfield, Saskatchewan, a son of Lee O. and Celina LeCocq Stuckey. He married Roberta Houser on August 23, 1953 in Martinton. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Joy Stuckey of Herndon, VA and Donna Lynn Stuckey of Watseka; and three sisters, Lavella Arp of Momence and Ella Haberkorn and Dorothy Knoblauch both of Watseka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister, Leota Boudreau.
Mr. Stuckey was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the Martinton Church of Christ; a member of Thee Olde Time Farm Club; founding member of the Prairie States Christian Service Camp; and the Toastmasters Club of Watseka. He was on the board of directors at Lincoln Christian University and had been a member of the Donovan School Board.
Memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice.

Lester C. Rocke, 94, Fairbury, IL
Lester C. Rocke, 94, of Fairbury, IL, formerly of Cissna Park, IL, died on Monday, September 7, 2009 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury, IL.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and on Thursday, September 10, 2009 for one hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. service at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park. Graveside military rites will be accorded by Cissna Park American Legion Post #527.
Mr. Rocke was born March 8, 1915 in Cissna Park, IL, a son of Andrew and Ida Stoller Rocke.
Surviving Mr. Rocke are two sisters, Doris Koehl of Fairbury and Aldean Kaufmann of Cissna Park; eleven nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Franklin Rocke; two sisters, Eulalia Eisenmann and Lorine Rocke; three brothers-in-law, Ed Eisenmann, Clarence Koehl and Walter Kaufmann; and one niece, Eldora Kaufmann
Mr. Rocke was a life-long farmer and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury.
