Evelyn F. Puls, 83, Paxton, IL
Evelyn F. Puls, 83, of Paxton, IL passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Paxton.
Visitation will run for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, March 20 at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton. Rev. John Davenport will officiate. Burial will be at at later date at Drummer Twp. Cemetery in Gibson City, IL.
Ms. Puls was born February 11, 1927 in Bloomington, IL, a daughter of Fred and Hazel Hale.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard Puls and Randy Puls both of Gibson City, Dale and Chris Puls of Paxton and Gary and Sarah Puls Crawford of Rankin; one daughter, Linda Puls of Chicago; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Ms. Puls enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and putting together puzzles.

Marylen A. Williamson, 71, Iroquois, IL
Marylen A. Williamson, 71, of Iroquois, IL passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 19, at Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois, IL. Rev. Van Haas will officiate.
Mrs. Williamson was born March 1, 1939 in Mt. Erie, IL, a daughter of Elsworth and Maude Mayes Miller. She married LeRoy Williamson on Nov. 28, 1954 in Sheldon, IL and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tom Williamson of Iroquois and Dean and Melody Williamson of Sheldon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Fred Depew of Danville and Donna and Travis Martin of Martinton; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Harold and Sue Miller of Florida, Bob Miller of California and Doug Miller of Alabama; one sister and brother-in-law, Colleen and Rolf Jensen of Iroquois; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Mrs. Williamson enjoyed painting and gardening.

Thomas F. Marry, 82, Clifton, IL
Thomas F. Marry, 82, of Clifton, IL died at his home of heart failure on Thursday, March 11, 2010.
Mr. Marry was born Dec. 25, 1927 in Galesburg, IL to Thomas F. Marry Sr. and Helen Roberts Marry.
He married Anne Peterschmidt in Fort Madison, IA on August 14, 1954. She survives along with daughter Kathleen and Glenn Shirley of Rock Falls, IL and five sons: Mike and Tammy Marry of Monticello, IL, Patrick and Debbie Marry of Hawthorne Woods, IL, Tom and Teri Marry of Bristol, WI, Mark and Bridget Anne Marry of Los Lunas, NM, and William and Carrie Marry of Paxton, IL.
Also surviving are two sisters, Patricia Hicks and Alice White of Galesburg, twenty grandchildren: Jason, Aimee and Luke Marry; Ryan (Christine), Philip (Kelly), Caroline, Bridget, Monica and Helen Marry; Glenn Thomas and Aaron Shirley; Eric, Tommy and Rachel Marry; Chris, Matthew and Kelly Marry; and Miranda, Kaitlin and Cassandra Marry; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Olivia Marry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Megan E. Marry, and brothers Paul and James Marry.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton and the Clifton American Legion. He served on the Clifton Planning Committee and the Unit 4 Board of Education.
He was a graduate of St. Ambrose University and the Master’s Program at the University of Illinois. He taught in Merriman, NE for two years, then Central High School for thirteen years and finally moved to Kankakee Community College and was one of the original faculty at KCC. He retired from KCC in 1988 and then became treasurer of the Junior College District until 1993.
Mr. Marry enjoyed teaching both young people and adults. His family was of the greatest importance to him as was his faith. He enjoyed wood working and riding his lawn mower as he sang.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley, 482 Main Street NW, Bourbonnais IL 60914; St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 450 E. Third Avenue, Clifton, IL 60927; or for Masses.
Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, March 12 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton, with a prayer service to be conducted at 5:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Clifton. Rev. Vern Arseneau will officiate. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Clifton.

Jose Ruben Gomez, 52, Onarga, Il
Jose Ruben Gomez, 52, of Onarga, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home.
Visitation will run from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, March 12 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga with the Rosary being recited at 3 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 13 at Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman. Rev. Mike Pennock will officiate. Interment will be at Onarga Cemetery in Onarga.
Mr. Gomez was born Aug. 25, 1957 in Mexico, a son of Rafael and Adela Salazar Gomez.
Survivors of Mr. Gomez include his mother, Adela Gomez, of Kankakee; three daughters, Maria (Yunuel) Gomez-Jimenez and Laura Gomez (Jose Nambo) all of Onarga and Vanesa Gomez of Texas; two sons, Jose Ruben Gomez Jr. and Orlando Gomez, both of Onarga; six grandchildren, Alyzza Medina, Vanessa and Alex Andrade, Bryana and Ilyana Nambo, and Nicholas Gomez; special grandson, Levi Salazar; eight brothers and sisters-in-law, Juan and Ana Gomez, Antonia and Esther Gomez, and Miguel and Sandra Gomez all of Kankakee, Jose and Graciela Gomez and Rafael and Eva Gomez Jr. all of Texas, Jose Alfredo and Sonia Gomez and Roberto and Mayra Gomez all of North Carolina, and Guadalupe and Marta Gomez of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mr. Gomez in death were his father; one brother, Jaime; one infant sister; and one grandchild, Elizabeth Marie Santoyo.
Mr. Gomez was an auto detailer at Tanner’s Collision. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Gilman. He enjoyed working for Tholen’s in Kankakee, playing poker and contributing to special foundations and organizations.

Viola Mabbitt, 93, Sheldon, IL
Viola Mabbitt, 93, of Sheldon, died March 7, 2010, at Sheldon Healthcare Center.
Born Sept. 4, 1916, in Lake Cicott, Indiana, she was the daughter of Edgar and Twilla Whiteman. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1935.
On January 11, 1936 she married Joe Mabbitt and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1992.
Mrs. Mabbitt was a homemaker and a member of the Sheldon Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, playing cards and spending time with her family. She and her late husband had traveled to all fifty states.
Surviving are her four children, Don Mabbitt (wife, Connie) of Sheldon, June Mattox (husband, Tom) of Goodland, IN, Larry Mabbitt (wife, Susie) of Sheldon and Crys Trotter (husband, Wayne) of Downs, IL; six grandchildren, Jeff Mabbitt (wife, Kim), Laurie Mabbitt, Amy Mattox, Andy Mattox (wife, Kristy), Kelsey Testa (husband, Joe), and Kylie Wright (husband, Chad); and fourteen great-grandchildren, Aaron Burton (wife, Whitney), Ryan Burton, Ashley Mabbitt (fiancee, Mitchell Ramsey), Donnie J. Mabbitt, Karlie, Kenna and Aidan Mattox, Savanna Mattox, Ali, Micah, Anna and Nate Testa and Brynlee and Beau Wright. Also surviving are step-grandchildren, Brian Trotter and Kellee Crull and five step-great-grandchildren, Jenna, Collin and Evan Shook, Savannah Trotter and Madison Crull.
Besides her husband Mrs. Mabbitt was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Caryl Isabelle; and three brothers, Harold, Charles and Lawrence Whiteman.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon and one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon with Pastor Joe Testa officiating. Burial will be in Sheldon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Donor’e Choice.

Walter, M. “Walt” Warren, 66, Sheldon, IL
Walter M. “Walt” Warren, 66, of Sheldon, IL passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at his home.
Visitation will run from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28 at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon, and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Monday, March 1, also at the funeral home. Rev. Donald Love and Rev. Paul Caldwell will officiate. Interment will be at Sheldon Cemetery in Sheldon.
Mr. Warren was born Nov. 7, 1943 in Watseka, IL, a son of George and Leota Lee Warren. He married Anne Wilkerson on June 13, 1964 in Sheldon and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Chris Burdick of Ashkum; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Beth Warren of Watseka and Lyle and Marcy Warren of Las Vegas, NV; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Mary Warren of Sheldon; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Iva Hornbuckle of Sheldon, Irene Parbs of Gilman and Martha and Melvin Hansen of Sheldon; four grandchildren, Catherine and spouse, Nicholas, Long of Bloomington, Ben Warren of Watseka, Kyle Burdick of Ashkum and Rachel Warren of Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Warren was a Sheldon area farmer and machinist at Uarco for many years. He was a member of the Machinist Aerospace Union. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, air shows and the Threshermen’s Reunion.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Marguerite S. Bauer, 92, Fairbury, IL
Marguerite S. Bauer, 92, of Fairbury, IL, formerly of Cissna Park, IL passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury, IL.
Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service on Wednesday, March 3 at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. Ministers of the church will officiate. Interment will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park
Mrs. Bauer was born April 1, 1917 in Cissna Park, IL, a daughter of Philip and Netta Frintz Schmidt. She married Aaron O. Bauer on Nov. 21, 1940 in Cissna Park and he preceded her in death on Sept. 27, 1997.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and John Conrad of Cissna Park; one daugher-in-law, Joyce Bauer Stock of Cissna Park; one foster son and spouse, Randy and Shannon Merrill of Englewood, CO; one foster daughter, Mary Ann Landes of Albion, IN; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. John and Barbara Schmidt of Yorba Linda, CA; four grandchildren and spouses, Julie and Doug Walder, Rachel and Blake Graham, Phillip and Heather Conrad and Andy Conrad; four foster grandchildren and nine great-granchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; three sisters; two sons, John and Aaron II; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Bauer was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. She was a country school teacher for several years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Fund at Fairview Haven Nursing Home or Donor’s Choice.

Lavon F. Burran, 90, Rankin, IL
Lavon F. Burran, 90, of Rankin, IL passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Hoopeston Regional Health Center.
Visitation will run from 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, until the 2 p.m. service at Knapp Funeral Home in Rankin. Fr. Bo Schmitt will officiate. Burial will be at Rankin Union Cemetery in Rankin.
Mrs. Burran was born Oct. 2, 1919 in Watseka, IL, a daughter of Thomas and Margaret Gibbons Butler. She married John McIntyer on Feb. 5, 1944 in Biloxi, MS and he preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1969. She later married John Burran on Dec. 11, 1972 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1995.
Survivors include one sister, Kathryn “Lucille” Carey of Sun City, AZ and several nieces, nephews and step-children.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Louise Reitz.
Mrs. Burran had been employed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul for over 33 years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hoopeston. She enjoyed puzzles, reading, flowers and her friends.

LaDonna Ikeler Walton, 80, West Frankfort, IL
LaDonna (Ikeler) Walton went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2010. She was born the daughter of Grace Price on August 27, 1929 in Evansville Indiana. Raised in Fairfield Illinois, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley McCord, granddaughter, Joni Lin Werkau and grandson, Ryan C. Parks. She married Earl J. Hallam of Fairfield and they had one son, Michael (Carol Anne) Hallam of Green Cove Springs, Florida. On May 24, 1950 she married Kenneth “Ike” Ikeler and together they had three daughters, Teresa (Chuck) Thompson of Phoenix Arizona, Kimberli Bacon of Kankakee and Kelli (Ken) Perry of Tucson Arizona. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. LaDonna and Ike owned and operated I.D. Tool Specialty in Albion Michigan and in 1968 moved the company and family to Watseka. They also owned the Krazy Corner in Watseka until Ike passed away in 1972.
LaDonna later went back to her home in southern Illinois and rekindled a relationship with a high school sweetheart, Jack Walton. They married in 1984 and managed the Gray Plaza Motel in West Frankfort until he passed away in 1987. She became an ordained minister and owned and operated the Masters Table, feeding the needy and teaching the Word of God. Her many talents included sewing, interior decorating, singing and praying. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all.
Visitation will be July 7th from 5 – 6 pm at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with a service at 6:00 p.m. Grandsons Noah Parks and Clayton Perry will present her eulogy. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka

Michael “Mike” E. Hawthorne, 67, Cissna Park, IL
Michael “Mike” E. Hawthorne, 67, of Cissna Park, IL passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at his home.
Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30. Rev. Brent Zastrow and Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate. Burial will be at Cissna Park Cemetery in Cissna Park, IL.
Mr. Hawthorne was born Sept. 4, 1942 in Danville, IL, a son of Alva L. and Mary J. Miller Hawthorne. He married Christine Knapp on Aug. 27, 1960 in Goodwine, IL and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2000.
Survivors include two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nancy Lee of Watseka and Rosezella “Rosie” and Larry Allen of Woodland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Karen Hawthorne of Milford and Clarence and Elizabeth “Libby” Hawthorne of Goodwine; and special friend, Wanda VonBerg of Cissna Park.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Mark Edward Hawthorne.
Mr. Hawthorne was a Pressman at Standard Register in Watseka for 32 years. He was a fan of the Cubs, Illini, Bears and NASCAR. He loved to race micromini tractors and run the melon wagon.

Harriet E. Johnson, 88, Danforth, IL
Harriet E. Johnson, 88, of Danforth, IL, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth, IL.
A private graveside service will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
Mrs. Johnson was born June 11, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of Richard and Grace Johnston Amis. She married Russell Johnson in Sept. 1943 in Evanston, IL and he preceded her in death in 1976.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Mary Lou Johnson of Watseka; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Robert Lenz of El Paso, IL; four grandchildren and spouses, Jodi and Alan Upchurch, Rachel and Brad Odgers, Jason and Emily Johnson and Rusty Johnson; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy.
Memorials may be made to Faith Place in Danforth, IL or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
