Irene H. Burnett, 86, of Onarga, IL passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Piper City Rehab & Living Center in Piper City, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, June 10 at Onarga Cemetery in Onarga, IL. Rev. Elizabeth Reis will officiate.
Mrs. Burnett was born July 3, 1923 in Leonard, IL, a daughter of William and Clara Sims Bretzman. She married Donald A. Burnett on July 3, 1951 in Onarga, IL and he preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 2010.
Survivors include four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra Eshleman of Watseka, Barbara Thorne of Onarga, Christine and Charles Barham of Strawn and Peggy and Earl Dennison of Rantoul; one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Nancy Rohr of Green Cove Springs, FL; one sister, Evelyn Taylor of Milford; one brother, Fred Bretzman of Kankakee; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister and one daughter, Shirley Wetmore.
Mrs. Burnett was a member of the Onarga United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Onarga United Methodist Church or Donor’s Choice.

Keith R. West, 92, Watseka, IL
Keith R. West, 92, of Watseka, IL passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, IL.
Visitation will run from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 10 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, IL and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service on Friday, June 11, at the First United Methodist Church, also in Watseka. Rev. Paul Copeland will officiate. Burial will be at Lake Twp. Cemetery in Lake Village, IN. military graveside rites will be provided by the Watseka American Legion Post #23 and the Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.
Mr. West was born Feb. 13, 1918 in Momence, IL, a son of Walter Lloyd and Margaret Rainford West. He married Betty Stallard on Aug. 28, 1948 in Watseka, IL and she survies.
Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Rodney Bohlmann of Maryland and Diane and John Ruch of Bourbonnais; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Shawn West and Stuart and Debbie West all of Watseka; one brother, Bill West of Morocco, IN; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruby and Raymond Arseneau of Watseka and Phyliss and Frank Gladson of Mountain Home, AR; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. West served in the US Army during WWII. He was a farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watseka and the Masonic Lodge, in which he was a 33rd Degree. He also loved to build things in his shop.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Watseka or Family Wishes.

Joe Lopez, 62, Champaign, IL
Joe Lopez, 62, of Champaign, IL passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Visitation will run from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga, IL. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gilman, IL. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Gilman, IL.
Mr. Lopez was born Nov. 21, 1947 in Detroit, MI, a son of Atanacio and Cruz Hernandez Lopez. He married Guadalupe Sanchez in Feb., 1981 in Watseka, IL and she survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Alicia Lemus of Iowa, Johanna Lopez of Watseka and Jocelyn Lopez of Champaign; two step-daughters, Rosa Hemp of Ashkum and Nancy Garcia of Milford; his father, Atanacio R. Lopez of Kentucky; six grandchildren; five brothers, Antonio “Tony” Lopez of Gilman, Atanacio Lopez Jr. of Gilman, Leonardo Lopez of Evansville, IN, Frank Lopez of Pontiac, MI and Santos Lopez of Edingburg, TX; and four sisters, Olga Martinez of Onarga, Mary Garcia of Onarga, Anita Melgoza of Gilman and Estella Lopez of Austin, TX.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Reynaldo Lopez; one sister, Rosa Castellano; and one son, Jose Lopez Jr.
Mr. Lopez was a welder. He had a love of cars and Tex-Mex music.

Herbert Orin Ireland, 90, Gilman, IL
Herbert Orin Ireland, 90, of Gilman, IL passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Heartland Healthcare Center in Paxton, IL.
Visitation will run from4-8:30 p.m. on Monday, June 7, at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8. Burial will be at the Onarga Cemetery in Onarga, IL. military graveside rites will be provided by the Onarga American Legion.
Mr. Ireland was born June 12, 1919 in Buckley, IL, a son of H. Glenn and Stella Perkinson Ireland. He married Mary L. Austin on March 1, 1941 in Champaign, IL and she preceded him in death on July 6, 2007.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Marin F. and Joe Mattingly of Champaign, IL and Jeanne L. and Mark Weiss of Oak Forest, IL; one sister, Edith Ireland of East Lansing, MI; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Orin Lee.
Mr. Ireland was in the Army COE during WWII. He had his PhD and was a professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Illinois from 1947-1979 where upon his retirment, he became Professor Emeritus. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Geological Society of America, the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Assoc., Sigma XI, Chi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, the U of I Presidents Council, the U of I Alumni Assoc., the Onarga United Methodist Church, the NRA, and the Onarga American Legion. He also served on the Iroquois County Board in 1981 and was a trustee of the Grand Prairie Seminary from 1982-2000.

Doyle G. Griffin, 56, Sheldon, IL
Doyle G. Griffin, 56, of Sheldon, IL passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 5 at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon, IL. Rev. James Small will officiate.
Mr. Griffin was born Oct. 13, 1953 in Fayetteville, TN, a son of Robert Erskin and Ruth Mitchell Hobbs. He married Eleanor Snyder on Aug. 30, 1991 in Homewood, IL and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Ruth Hobbs of Fayetteville, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Angie Griffin of Petersburg, TN and Jeremiah and Mo Griffin of Unionville, TN; two grandchildren, Hannah and Paige Griffin; one sister, Sandra Jones of Fayetteville, TN; one aunt, Barbara Pearson of Fayetteville, TN; and his mother-in-law, Wilma Snyder of Chebanse, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hobbs; one brother, Robert L. Hobbs; and two sisters, Shelby Joyce Swinford and Donna Jean Poarch.
Mr. Griffin had served in the US Marine Corps. and had been employed as a truck driver.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Floyd W. Pitzer, 93, Milford, IL
Floyd W. Pitzer, 93, of Milford, IL passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at Gilman Healthcare Center in Gilman, IL.
Visitation will run for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Friday, June 4 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford, IL. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford, IL.
Mr. Pitzer was born Nov. 11, 1916 in Goodwine, IL, a son of Alva E. and Laura Reetz Pitzer. He married Paullina Berniece Buss on June 17, 1940 in Watseka, IL and she preceded him in death on July 14, 2000.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Howard W, Lynn August, Vernon Lee and Arthur; and two sisters, Olive Decker and Illiah Webster.
Mr. Pitzer was a member of the Milford Masonic Lodge. He was a farmer and worked for McKinley Rodeo, where he was an announcer. He also was a judge at horse shows.
Memorials may be made to Donor’s choice.

Bonita “Bonnie” Brave, 79, Chebanse, IL
Bonita “Bonnie” Brave, 79, of Chebanse, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL.
Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 4. Rev. Vern Arseneau will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.
Mrs. Brave was born Sept. 8, 1930 in Kankakee, IL, a daughter of Edward and Irene Miller Houde. She married Donald “Bud” Brave on Nov. 26, 1949 in Kankakee and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Powell and special friend, Dave Alberts and Becky and Bob Elumbaugh, all of Clifton, IL; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Craig Brave of Evansville, IN and Brett and Chrystal Brave of Chebanse; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; her very special father- and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brave; and special friend, Sylvia Perzee.
Mrs. Brave was a seamstress for 17 years at Teamprint. She enjoyed camping and going to garage sales and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. James Hospice of Chicago Heights, IL.

Elizabeth “Liz” Rudin, 67, Cissna Park, IL
Elizabeth “Liz” Rudin, 67, of Cissna Park, IL passed away on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010 at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, IL.
Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. service on Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. The ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park.
Mrs. Rudin was born Dec. 27, 1942 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Benjamin and Marie Kaufmann Laubscher. She married Gary Rudin on Jan. 20, 1963 in Cissna Park and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Knight and husband, Wes, of Rankin and Dawn Wright and husband, Tim, of West Lafayette, IN; two sons, Greg Rudin of Council Bluff, IA and Chris Rudin and wife, Lynnette, of Rankin; three brothers, Walter Laubscher and wife, Sylvia, and Wayne Laubscher and wife, Gloria, all of Cissna Park and Edward Laubscher of Sheldon; her father-in-law, Ben Rudin, of Cissna Park; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald; and one grandchild, Collin Knight.
Mrs. Rudin was an avid Cubs fan. She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Donor’s Choice.

Willis L. Rasmussen, 86, Daytona Beach, FL
Willis L. Rasmussen, 86, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of Onarga, IL, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Hospice Care Center in Edgewater, FL.
Visitation will run from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga, where services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010. Rev. James Small will officiate. Burial will be at Onarga Cemetery in Onarga, IL.
Mr. Rasmussen was born July 23, 1924 in Onarga, IL, a son of Harry and Ruth L. Kissack Rasmussen. He married Beverly Williams and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Carol Ann Samel of Missouri; one son, Gary Rasmussen of Landsdale, PA; one brother, Wayne Rasmussen of Bourbonnais, IL; five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Rasmussen had been a resident of Florida for twenty-three years, having moved there from Acworth, GA. He retired as a District Manager from Liquid Propane Gas in Long Beach, CA and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Port Orange, FL. He enjoyed woodworking and citizen band radio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 724 Big Tree Road, Port Orange, FL 32119.

Elizabeth Laraine Clements, 90, Wellington, IL
Elizabeth Laraine Clements, 90, of Wellington passed away August 28, 2010 at her home.
Mrs. Clements was born on November 17, 1919 in Watseka, IL, a daughter of Edgar and Florence Panhorst Wood. She married Oliver A. Clements on February 11, 1945 in Galesburg, IL and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Julia (Michael) Underwood of Dallas, TX and Cynthia Clements of San Antonio, TX; two sons, Oliver A. (Shirley) Clements III of Fond du Lac, WI and Bruce W. (Kathy) Clements of Danville; two sisters, Harriet Anderson of Galesburg and Phyllis Roop of St. Joseph, MI; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and one daughter, Rebecca.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Cecil J. Hustedt, 96, Chebanse, IL
Cecil J. Hustedt, 96, of Chebanse passed away August 27, 2010 at Miller Health Care Center in Kankakee, IL.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Rev. William Callister will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Chebanse.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
Mr. Hustedt was born on September 6, 1913 in Long Prairie, MN, a son of Dietrich and Fannie Ennen Hustedt. He married Phyllis M. Perkins on May 2, 1942 in Palmyra, MO. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2007.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and 4 sisters.
Mr. Hustedt served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clifton. Cecil was a farmer, worked for the City of Chebanse in the maintenance dept. for 16 years and enjoyed traveling, reading and jigsaw puzzles.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Marguerite A. Jones, 96, Thawville, IL
Marguerite A. Jones, 96, of Thawville passed away August 27, 2010 at Gilman Healthcare Center in Gilman, IL.
Mrs. Jones was born on July 5, 1914, in Warsaw, IN, a daughter of John and Theresa Hunt Ristow. She married Vernon F. Jones on October 13, 1936 in Onarga. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1993.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (Mike) McClure of West Lafayette, IN and Marilyn (Don) Ikins of Onarga, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Fred Ristow and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Congregational Church of Thawville and was a beautician for over 50 years.
Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Rev. Tom Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Ridgeland Twp. Cemetery in Thawville, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Thawville Congregational Church, Passages Hospice or Donor’s Choice.
