John L. Ryberg, 96, Paxton, IL
John Leslie Ryberg, 96, of Paxton passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 25, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center in Paxton.
He was born on October 15, 1914, in Paxton, a son of John P. and Laura Sandquist Ryberg. He married Gladys Viola “Vi” Linder on September 5, 1949 in Paxton. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2008.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol (Robert) Nofftz of Savoy, Cheryl (Ken) Mennenga of Paxton and Barbara (Paul) Taylor of Ridgeville, SC; two grandsons, Bradlie (Beth) Mennenga of Champaign and Leslie (Amy) Mennenga of Forest, VA; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Mennenga of Forest, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lucille Stenson and one brother, Gordon W. Ryberg.
He owned and operated a watch repair service in Paxton for 60 years. He served on the Civil Defense, ESDA, Channel 7 Weather Watchers and on the Paxton Emergency Response Services for 50 years. He also maintained the Paxton City Clock Tower for most of his years. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Paxton American Legion Post #150. John enjoyed HAM radios and gardening.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Full Gospel Christian Fellowship in Paxton. Rev. Terry Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Paxton with military graveside rites by the Paxton American Legion Post #150.
Memorials may be made to Paxton Channel 7 Weather Watchers or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Doris M. Jacob, 90, Cissna Park, IL
Doris M. Jacob, 90, of Cissna Park passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, IL.
Doris was born on August 19, 1920 in Cissna Park, a daughter of Levi and Mabel Sebring Vogel. She married Raymond R. Jacob on May 23, 1943 in Cissna Park. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Sheryl (Ronald) Gerdes of Cissna Park; one son, Myron (Debra) Jacob of Kingston, NY; two sisters, Joyce Kmetz of Streator and Edith Schmidt of Mendota; five grandchildren, Gregory Gerdes, Glen Gerdes, Garvin Gerdes, Michael Jacob and Denise Cutler; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and two grandchildren, Gary Gerdes and Julie Jacob.
Mrs. Jacob was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ash Grove, Ladies Aid and of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ash Grove. Rev. Kevin Wendorf will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ash Grove.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ash Grove or Donor’s Choice.

Phillip R. Eyestone, 49, Kankakee, IL
Phillip R. Eyestone, 49, of Kankakee, died Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, following a lengthy illness. At his request, cremation rites will be accorded by Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. There will be no visitation or services. Friends may send online condolences to knappfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. Eyestone was born in Shelby, MI on April 21, 1961, the son of Raymond Eyestone and Wilma Jean England. They survive in Michigan. He was married to the former Christiene Brown in Gilman on October 11, 2009 and she survives in Kankakee.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Arthur Suggs of Whitehall, MI; three stepsons, Benjamin Taylor of Kankakee, Phillip Black of Chattanooga, TN and Marshall Hesler of Kankakee; four step-daughters, Kimberly Szynalski of Kankakee, Carrie Viscom of Ferry, MI, Amanda Black of Whitehall, MI and Jodi Smith of Kankakee; thirteen grandchildren; three sisters, Cheryl Smith of Hart, MI, Shirley Devila of Walkerville, MI and Kitty Sue Eyestone of Michigan; and one brother, Steven Eyestone of Texas.
Mr. Eyestone enjoyed watching wrestling, NASCAR, being with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing.

Carolyn D. Swigart, 78, Watseka, IL
Carolyn D. Swigart, 78, of Watseka passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Watseka Rehab & Health Care Center.
Carolyn was born July 16, 1932, in Donovan, a daughter of Delbert and Agnes Anderson Anderson. She married Joe Swigart on October 1, 1950 in Beaver Twp. and he survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Steven J. (Debra) Swigart of Watseka and Scott E. (Marybeth) Swigart of Quincy; one daughter, Sarah L. (Gary) Lambert of Watseka; two sisters, Darlene Pilotte of Phoenix, AZ and Judy Judy of Bourbonnais; three brothers, Roger Anderson of Livermore, CA, Dean Anderson of Martinton and Larry Anderson of Donovan; and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Susan L. Walters; and one sister, Marian Waity.
Mrs. Swigart was a member of and former Sunday school teacher at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka. She was a registered nurse for many years, a member of Home Extension and a past Cub Scout Den Mother and 4-H Leader.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Paul Copeland and Pastor Scott Swigart will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes. Association, American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church in Watseka.

Cathyleen “Kate” Adsit, 82, Wellington, IL
Cathyleen “Kate” Adsit, 82, of Wellington passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.
Kate was born September 26, 1928, in Milford Twp., a daughter of George and Nellie Pancake Gray. She married Samuel C. Adsit on March 18, 1950, in Milford.
Surviving are her husband, Samuel C. Adsit at Faith Place in Danforth; three sons, Edward (Dawn) Adsit of Berthoud, CO, Nicholas (Roxanne) Adsit of Wellington and Stephen (Rhonda) Adsit of Veedersburg, IN; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Adsit and Alison Adsit both of Berthoud, CO, Benjamin Adsit of Fort Collins, CO, Tyler (Jami) Adsit of Wellington, Rachel (Aaron) Morgan of Miamisburg, OH, Beth (Christopher) Burchett of Rockville, MD and Amos (Ashlie Ziegler) Adsit of Lafayette, IN; four great-grandchildren, MaKena , Lydia and Clara Morgan all of Miamisburg, OH and Cameron Burchett of Rockville, MD; one sister-in-law, Arsene Adsit Burton of Hannibal, MO; and one brother-in-law, Vernon Sidler of Bella Vista, AR.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve Terrill Dickison and Thelma Terrill Mayhew; and one sister-in-law, Janis Adsit Sidler.
Mrs. Adsit was a member of the Wellington United Methodist Church. She served on the Milford Public Library Board and Wellington Unit 7 School Board for several years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and baking pies and cookies.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at the Wellington United Methodist Church. Rev. Janet Eggleston will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.
Friends wishing to honor Kate’s memory with a charitable contribution are asked to consider Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth or the Wellington United Methodist Church.

Robert L. Montgomery, 83, Milford, IL
Robert L. Montgomery, 83, of Milford, passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.
Robert was born on October 30, 1927, in Muncie, a son of John Logan and Maude Longbottom Montgomery. He married Lanora Jones on October 19, 1947 in Milford and she survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Rick Montgomery of Danville and Jerry (Robin) Montgomery of Lafayette, IN; one daughter, Ronnda (David) Allen of Milford; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Montgomery was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed cars and the outdoors.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate. Burial will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.
Memorials may be made to the Milford Ambulance Service or Donor’s Choice.

Marjorie L. Morrison, 89, Crescent City, IL
Marjorie Lois Morrison, 89, of Crescent City, IL passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010 at Gilman Health Care Center in Gilman, IL.
Visitation will run from 3-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and for one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service on Saturday, Dec. 18, also at the funeral home. Rev. Bobbi Shultz will officiate. Burial will be at Flesher Cemetery in Crescent City.
Mrs. Morrison was born April 15, 1921 in Ashkum, IL, a daughter of Bert and Grace Addison Lester. She married Fred C. Morrison on Feb. 22, 1938 in Gilman and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ann Morrison and Nancy (Gene) Dickenson all of Crescent City; three grandchildren, Bobbi (Chuck) Crutcher of Polo, IL, Terry (Kim) Leydens of New Johnsonville, TN and Tyler (Kate) Dickenson of Oswego, IL; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Morrison was a member of the United Methodist Church in Crescent City. She assisted her husband in farming in the Crescent City area, and as owner/operator of Morrison Construction Company and LaMor Campsite, both in Crescent City. For several years she enjoyed volunteering at Iroquois Memorial Hospital and also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Crescent City or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Ronald L. Norman, 53, Paxton, IL
Ronald L. Norman, 53, of Paxton, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at his home.
Ronald was born September 18, 1957, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, a son of Elsworth and Donna Johnson Norman.
Surviving are two sisters, Lynn (Morrie) Eichelberger of Paxton and Lori Zindars of Luck, WI; one niece, Erin (Jeff) Graham of Paxton; one nephew, Austin (Teri) Eichelberger of Gibson City; three great-nephews, Tate & Ty Graham of Paxton and Carter Eichelberger of Gibson City; and three great-nieces, Tanner Graham of Paxton and Isabel & Kolbie Eichelberger of Gibson City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald worked for Mill Valley in Shawnee Mission, KS for over 30 years. He also enjoyed sports.
Services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Booster Club.

Orvin J. Roisland, 83, Paxton, IL
Orvin J. Roisland, 83, of Paxton passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at his home.
Orvin was born February 4, 1927, in Chicago, a son of John O. and Parnella Sand Roisland. He married Marian J. Weaver on January 2, 1955 in Loda and she survives.
Survivors also include one son, Marvin (Cheryl) Roisland of Wheaton; one daughter, Karen J. Lee of Champaign; one grandson, Erik J. Roisland of Wheaton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lorraine Thurman.
Mr. Roisland served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. Orvin was a member of Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Elliott. He was a lifetime livestock and grain farmer in rural Paxton, enjoyed raising Holstein dairy cattle and Berkshire hogs and had a great sense of humor.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010 at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Elliott. Rev. Priscilla Geerdes will officiate. Burial will be in Pontoppidan Lutheran Cemetery in Elliott with military graveside rites by Gibson City American Legion.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Knapp-Miller Funeral Home in Paxton and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Elliott.

Earl F. Zbinden, 71, Watseka, IL
Earl F. Zbinden, 71, of Watseka passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 in Watseka.
Earl was born on September 5, 1939, in Watseka, a son of Albert J. and Lorna Kietzman Zbinden.
Surviving are one nephew, Jerry (Denise) Zbinden of Augusta, GA; one niece, Christine (Gary) Dudak of Blackstone, IL; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; three step-nephews; and one sister-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one nephew and one great-nephew.
Mr. Zbinden served in the Army. He was an innovator of designs in the hair business. He enjoyed traveling to Europe, cooking and all parts of life.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Joe Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in the Cissna Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or Donor’s Choice.

Anna Mae Frank, 79, Cissna Park, IL
Anna Mae Frank, 79, of Cissna Park, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home.
Anna was born September 16, 1931, in Francesville, IN, a daughter of Joseph and Amy Witterich Hari. She married James D. Frank on May 28, 1952 in Watseka, IL. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1998.
Surviving are one daughter, Gayle (Robert) Wagner of Biloxi, MS; two sons, Gnyle Frank and Gary Frank both of Cissna Park; one brother, Marvin (Carolyn) Hari of Loda; and one grandchild, Gnoah James Frank of Cissna Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jerry Hari; and two sisters, Eleanor Hari and Arliss Hari.
Mrs. Frank was a member of the Humane Society and enjoyed politics.
Private graveside services will be held at the Cissna Park Cemetery in Cissna Park.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
