James “Jim” W. McCullough, 63, Martinton, IL
James “Jim” W. McCullough, 63, of Martinton, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Jim was born October 17, 1947, in Watseka, a son of Samuel D. and Hazel L. Redman McCullough. He married Vicki Stephenson on December 30, 1967 in Papineau and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Timothy McCullough of Martinton; two brothers, Mike (Stephanie) McCullough and Dave (Cheryl) McCullough all of Watseka; five grandchildren, Drew Wilkins of Watseka, Mercedes (Stephen) Daily of Martinton, Jamie McCullough of Martinton, Amber Jones of Beaverville and Jacob McCullough of Beaverville; and one great-grandchild, Jade Lynn Daily of Martinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim served in the Marine Corps. Reserves. He was a member of Papineau United Church of Christ, a lifelong farmer in the Martinton area and enjoyed hunting and drag racing.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with a private Burial to follow at Prairie Dell Cemetery at Iroquois.
Memorials may be made to the Donor’s Choice.

Lloyd R. Yates, 89, Watseka, IL
Lloyd R. Yates, 89, of Watseka, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Danville.
Visitation will run from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with a Vespers Service at 7:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. Rev. Michael Powell will officiate. Burial will be in the L’Erable Catholic Cemetery.
Mr. Yates was born October 10, 1921 in Martinton Township, a son of Ray and Blanche Baron Yates. He married Luida M. Miller on August 14, 1942 in Watseka and she preceded him in death on November 29, 1996.
Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (Tom) Zabel of Watseka, Loydene (Michael) Phares of Marshall and Connie Munsterman (fiance Virgil Sheets) of Tilton; two sons, Dan (Janien) Yates of Watseka and Glenn Yates of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Gayle Yates of Watseka; son-in-law, Ray Arseneau of Beaverville; two brothers, Gerald (Jean) Yates of Watseka and Francis Yates of Monticello, IN; one sister, Patricia Lovel of Kankakee; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Baron, Ronnie, Wendall and Duane Yates; one sister, Ann Freehill; one son, James Yates; one daughter, Arlene Arseneau; and one grandson, Justin Yates.
Mr. Yates was a member of St. Edmund Catholic Church in Watseka. He was known for his auctioneering in Iroquois County and was also a farmer. He loved playing euchre at the Masonic Lodge with his friends, was a fan of baseball and boxing and loved to square dance.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or Helping Hand Homeless Shelter of Springfield.

Viola Mae Adwell, 94, Watseka, IL
Viola Mae Adwell, 94, of Watseka and formerly of Milford, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Watseka Rehab & Health Care Center.
Viola was born September 18, 1916 in Silver Lake, Kansas, a daughter of William and Ella Lewis Bailey. She married Robert R. Adwell on March 9, 1946 in Wheaton and he preceded her in death on November 10, 1985.
Surviving are one daughter, Jayne (Jerry) Frerichs of Milford; one son, Thomas (Linda) Adwell of Milford; one brother, Ollie (Peggy) Bailey of Hoopeston; one sister, Shirley (Rex) Consellor of Topeka, Kansas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tom and Paul Bailey; four sisters, Mary Norris, Martha Trumble, Leona March and Betty Perryman; and one son, Donald Wayne Henke.
Mrs. Adwell was a member of the Nazarene Church in Milford.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Watseka Rehab & Health Care Center.

Everett A. Arends, 87, Onarga, IL
Everett A. Arends, 87, of Onarga, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
Visitation will run from 10 a.m. until the 12 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga. Rev. James Small will officiate. Burial will be in the Onarga Cemetery.
Mr. Arends was born August 28, 1923 in Gilman, IL, a son of Arnold and Minnie Koritz Arends. He married Lois M. Brewer on October 23, 1943 in Buckley and she preceded him in death on April 29, 1997.
Survivors include three daughters, Everine Riddle of Rantoul, Linda (Daniel) Breeden of Watseka and Judy Bonick of Schererville, IN; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Arends was a charter member of the Gilman Lions Club. Along with his wife, they managed the Greyhound Post House in Gilman for 15 years and he was also employed by General Food in Kankakee for 25 years.
Memorials may be made to Donor’s Choice.

Rudolph L. Orr, 76, Watseka, IL
Rudolph L. Orr, 76, of Watseka passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.
Rudolph was born September 18, 1935 in Watseka, a son of Orville L. and Ida Harms Orr. He was a farmer in the Watseka and Iroquois areas and had served three years in the Illinois National Guard. He married Patricia Butzow on November 18, 1956 in Watseka and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Judith (Jeff) Raymer of Sheldon and Susan (Mark) Hettinger of Watseka; one son, Roger (Jolene) Orr of Donovan; four grandchildren, Jake Raymer of Watseka, Janet Raymer of Sheldon, Robyn Orr of Clifton and Kristyn Orr of Champaign; one great-grandson, Jordan Raymer of Sheldon; two half-sisters, Betty Clover of Dwight and Ruth Orr Banks of South Carolina; and one half-brother, LeRoy Orr of Paxton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one half-brother, Dale Orr.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Wayne Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the Iroquois County Genealogical Society or Iroquois County Historical Society.

Nancy S. Kimnach, 86, Hazel Crest, IL
Nancy S. Kimnach (nee Sitgreaves), recently of Hazel Crest, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012. She was 86.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Nancy was the only child of William L. and Elizabeth Lila (nee James) Sitgreaves. She was a graduate of Wellesley (Massachusetts) High School. While there she met Donald J. Kimnach, whom she later married.
Nancy was graduated cum laude from Radcliffe College, in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1946. Two years later she and Donald were married. They had three children: Carolyn (Youngclaus) (Woburn, MA), Donald, Jr. (North Miami, FL) and Richard (Bloomfield, IN).
Nancy began her married life in Needham, then Newton, Massachusetts. There she was a homemaker, Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother.
In 1966 Nancy and her family moved to Watseka, Illinois. While there she and Donald, Sr. — both avid bridge players – played often and well in local circles. She also joined the Iroquois Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Watseka Women’s Club. She became president of both.
Nancy was an active member of the Watseka Warriors Booster Club. In the late 1960s and early 1970s she especially endeared herself to her sons’ friends and teammates. She allowed them free rein of her kitchen; in return, they dubbed her proprietor of “Nance’s Beanery.”
Nancy also developed a passion for needlework. She joined needlework groups in both Watseka and in Chicago’s southern suburbs. (She moved to Hazel Crest, Illinois, in 1973.) She loved both the craft and her fellow craftswomen.
Donald, Sr., and Nancy’s parents preceded her in death. Her daughter and two sons survive her, as do David J.Youngclaus (Carolyn’s husband), Sue Wall (Richard’s wife) and Robert B. (Bonnie) Kimnach (nephew). Sara Kimnach (wife of Donald, Jr.) preceded her in death.
Visitation will be on February 4, 2012, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the Knapp Funeral Home, 219 S. Fourth St., Watseka, Illinois. A memorial service will follow. Her remains will then be interred at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Watseka Library or the Iroquois Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Avis W. McCray, 85, Cissna Park, IL
Avis W. McCray, 85, of Cissna Park passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Hoopeston Community Memorial Nursing Home.
Avis was born August 12, 1926 in Cissna Park, a daughter of Earl and Alta Kimble McCray.
Surviving are one brother, Lloyd McCray of Rochester, IN; five nephews; two nieces; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd and Glenn McCray; and one sister, Ada McCray.
Ms. McCray was a member of the Claytonville United Brethren Church, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Womens Missionary Fellowship and Womens Christian Temperance Union. She was a graduate of Huntington College in 1948 and was an elementary school teacher for 40 years.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Pastor Rod Light will officiate. Burial will be in Amity Cemetery in Goodwine.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park.
Memorials may be made to the Claytonville United Brethren Church or United Brethren Missions Department in Huntington, IN.

Ernest Garrett, 39, Milford, IL
Ernest “Ernie” Garrett, 39, of Milford passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at his home.
Ernie was born September 3, 1972 in Watseka, a son of Randall Glen and Anna “Dids” Bryant Garrett.
Surviving are his parents, Randall Glen and Anna “Dids” Garrett of Milford; one brother, Quinton Garrett of Milford; 1 sister, Stacey Walker Taylor of Cincinnati, OH; two nieces; and one nephew.
He was an EMT-I for the Hoopeston Ambulance Service, a member of the Milford Fire Department and Ambulance Co-Captain for the Milford EMS.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Milford Christian Church. Rev. Brent Zastrow will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Milford Christian Church and also 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the Milford Fire Department, Milford Ambulance Service, Hoopeston Ambulance Service or Donor’s Choice.

Nancy Jo Anstrom, 73, Paxton, IL
Nancy Jo Anstrom, 73, of Paxton passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at ASTA Care Center of Ford County.
Nancy was born July 10, 1938 in Chicago, a daughter of Pete and Kathleen Whitcomb Darter.
Surviving are one brother, William Darter of Toledo, Iowa; one sister, Voncil Sherman of Marshaltown, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Ms. Anstrom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paxton and enjoyed writing letters.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Paxton. Rev. Terry Westerfield will officiate. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Paxton.
Memorials may be made to Passages Hospice.

Barbara Fitzpatrick, 75, Herscher, IL
Barbara O. Fitzpatrick, 75, of Herscher passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Barbara was born April 5, 1936 in Columbus, OH, a daughter of Jack and Nora Gostrey O’Donnell. She married Charles Fitzpatrick on September 13, 1978 in Joliet and he survivies.
Other survivors include her children, Shannon Shepherd of DesMoines, IA, Rick (Betsy) Shepherd of Springfield, Dr. David Fitzpatrick DVM of Kankakee, Dan (Lisa) Fitzpatrick of St. Anne and Deb (Jeff) Caspary of Clifton; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Jessica J. Parga, 17, Clifton, IL
Jessica J. Parga, 17, of Clifton passed away on Monday, January 16, 2012 at her home.
Jessica was born April 30, 1994 in Kankakee. She was a student at Central High School in Clifton.
Surviving are her mother, Tina Parga of Clifton; maternal grandmother, Brenda Bertrand of Kankakee; one brother, Luis Parga of Kankakee; one step-sister, Kayla Kaleshoff of Lafayette, IN; one step-brother, Michael Watkins of Kentland, IN; an uncle, Larry Bertrand Jr. of Kankakee; two special cousins, Tammy (Jeff) Woodworth of Papineau and Nichole Olena of Kankakee; one nephew, Chase Fieleke; and several other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jessica enjoyed writing poetry, backyard sports and playing Guitar Hero, but her special passion was her music.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Deacon Ron Gagnon will officiate. Burial will be in the Clifton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
Memorials may be made for the family’s wishes.
