Barbara K. Trumble, 63, Watseka, IL
Barbara K. Trumble, 63, of Watseka passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette, IN.
Barbara was born March 19, 1948 in Watseka, a daughter of Clarence and Myra Redeker Schumacher. She married James Trumble on November 26, 1967 in Woodworth and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Scott (Lisa) Trumble of Seneca and three grandchildren, Johnathan, Christopher and Sarah Trumble.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronald Schumacher; and one granddaughter, Alexandra Trumble.
Mrs. Trumble was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Woodworth. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Gary Minard will officiate. Burial will be in Body Cemetery in Woodland.
Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or Donor’s Choice.

Doris Edmiston, 83, Piper City, IL
Doris O. Edmiston, 83, of Piper City passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at her home.
Doris was born October 12, 1928 in Decatur, TN, a daughter of Walter and Lula Shelton Ricks.
Surviving are one daughter, Connie (Pedro) Perez of Piper City; two grandchildren, Nina (Ismael) Perez Raya and Shelita (Miguel) Raya all of Piper City; and a close friend, Martin Alvarado of Piper City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Earl Edmaiston; and one great-grandson, Angel Guadalupe Raya.
Cremation rites will be accorded with arrangements by Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga.
Memorials may be made for the family’s wishes.

Jesus E. Medina, 25, Piper City, IL
Jesus E. Medina, 25, of Piper City passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at his home.
Jesus was born June 6, 1986 in Yuriria, Guanajato, Mexico, a son of Miguel and Luz Garcia Medina.
Surviving are his parents, Miguel and Luz Medina of Kentland, IN; two sisters, Rosalinda Medina of Fairbury and Lissette Medina of Onarga; three brothers, Jose Miguel Medina, Ricardo Medina and Carlos Daniel Medina all of Kentland, IN; one daughter, Jaylyn Swartz of Sheldon; his maternal grandmother, Carmen Zavala of Mexico; and his fiancee, Kristy Novak of Piper City.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Gilman. Fr. Mike Pennock will officiate. Burial will be in the Onarga Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Onarga with a Rosary being held at 5:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Jesus E. Medina Memorial Fund.

Hazel J. Howe, 97, Sheldon, IL
Hazel J. Howe, 97, of Sheldon passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Watseka Rehab & Health Care Center.
Hazel was born October 27, 1914 in Dodgebridge, IN, a daughter of Carl and Mary Pearl Meyer Clark. She married Gilbert Howe on April 28, 1934 in Shelburn, IN and he preceded her in death on September 4, 1982.
Surviving are eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; four sisters; three sons; and one grandchild.
Mrs. Howe was a member of Church of God Worship Center in Shelburn, IN and Iroquois Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Watseka. She had been employed at Reliance Shirt Factory in Seymour, IN and Radio Condenser and T.R.W. in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon. Rev. Van Haas will officiate. Entombment will be in the Sheldon Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Mark A. Houser, 47, Watseka, IL
Mark A. Houser, 47, of Watseka passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 in Watseka.
Mark was born June 3, 1964 in Watseka, a son of Cecil and Sandra Pittman Houser. He married Cheryl A. Hammende in Watseka and she preceded him in death on November 21, 2011.
Surviving are one daughter, Nicole Fischer of Watseka; one son, Justin Fischer of Watseka; three grandchildren; two sisters, Cheryl (Dave) McCullough of Watseka and Cathy Cahoe of Glouster, OH; two brothers, Rocky (Angela) Houser of Donovan and Steve (Dee) Houser of Watseka; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Mark was a member of Church of God in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. funeral service on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Wayne Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Gaffield Cemetery in Iroquois.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Melvin H. Haselow, 91, Clifton, IL
Melvin H. Haselow, 91, of Clifton passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.
Melvin was born April 6, 1920 in Chebanse, a son of Henry and Leona Ruebensam Haselow. He married Darlene M. Tambling on June 23, 1945 in Chebanse and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Diane (Rick) Ducat of Chebanse; three grandchildren, Paul (Amy) Ducat of Chebanse, Michael Ducat of Clifton and Stacey Haselow of Indiana; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Ducat of Chebanse and Eli Ducat of Chebanse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry Haselow; and one great-grandchild, Hazel Ducat.
Mr. Haselow was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse having been baptized, confirmed and married there. He went to school at Heller School in Clifton. Farming was his passion and he was a lifelong farmer in the Chebanse and Clifton areas. He loved fishing, hunting and dancing the Polka.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse. Rev. Kene Whybrew will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in Chebanse or Kankakee Valley Hospice.

Geneva R. Plymate, 91, Rankin, IL
Geneva R. Plymate, 91, of Rankin passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee.
Geneva was born October 16, 1920 in Convoy, OH, a daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth Dawson. She married Dale K. Plymate on May 21, 1941 in Celina, OH and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1991.
Surviving are one daughter, Nora Yeates of Bradley and two grandchildren, Julie and Laura Yeates.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one half-brother; and four sisters.
Mrs. Plymate was a member of the Rankin United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Rankin United Methodist Church. Rev. Janet Longtin will officiate. Burial will be in the Rankin Union Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Roger Gomer Sr., 39, Crescent City, IL
Roger D. Gomer Sr., 39, of Crescent City passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his home.
Roger was born July 29, 1972 in Tucson, AZ, a son of Jimmy Dale and Phyllis Donelson Gomer. He married Alicia Graham on October 1, 2004 in Arlington, TX and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Roger Gomer Jr. and John Gomer both of Crescent City; one daughter, Maxlynn Gomer of Crescent City; three brothers, Jimmy Gomer Jr. of Midland, TX, Keith Gomer of Cleburne, TX and Todd Gomer of Arlington, TX; and his father, Jimmy Gomer Sr. of Arlington, TX.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Roger was a member of the Living Hope Church in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Living Hope Church in Watseka. Tom Burger and Ben Stone will officiate.

Mary Ann Mayes, 79, Ashkum, IL
Mary Ann Mayes, 79, of Ashkum passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at her home following a short illness.
Mary Ann was born in 1932 in rural Ashkum, a daughter of John and Lena Hanson Ewerks. She married Herbert Mayes on October 29, 1950 in Ashkum and he preceded her in death on August 12, 1999.
Surviving are one son, David (Tammy) Mayes of Ashkum; two daughters, Debra (Tyke) Hendershott of Kankakee and Deanna (David) Lohnes of Hoopeston; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and five sisters.
Mrs. Mayes was a certified ceramics artist and for many years operated her own studio, Mary Ann’s Ceramics, where she taught ceramic art and did commercial ceramic work. She belonged to Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum and its’ Rachel Circle. She was a 4-H leader for many years and also helped in the operation of the family farm.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum. Rev. Jan Horne will officiate. Burial will be in the Ashkum Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church in Ashkum or Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.

Johanna C. Tammen, 90, Danforth, IL
Johanna C. Dirks Tammen, 90, of Danforth passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton and also 1 hour prior to the 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth. The Rev. Gary Burkhalter will officiate. Burial will be in the Danforth Cemetery in Danforth Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth.
Mrs. Tammen was born on June 7, 1921 on a farm east of Danforth, a daughter of John and Reka Hasbargen Dirks. She married Elmer Tammen on her birthday, June 7th in 1941 and he survives. In addition, she is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Roger) Myers of Galesburg and Arlene (Greg) Taylor of Willowbrook; two sons, Duane (Susan) Tammen of Danforth and John (Sandra) Tammen of Clifton; eleven grandchildren, Leslie (Ron) Mutton, Grant (Leah) Myers, Heather (Kevin) Kniker, Danielle (Darin) Bailey, Colleen (Jason) McKee, Arianne (Kent) Anderson, Timothy (Patty) Tammen, Nathan (Carrie) Taylor, Michelle (Jessup) French, Karla Tammen and Lori Tammen; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tammen was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dick Dirks; two sisters, Helen Bottorff and Geradina Kuhlman; and extended family members, Geraldine Wilken and Donald Dirks Sr.
Mrs. Tammen was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Danforth and participated in various church circles her whole life. She was a co-founder/sponsor for the Junior Mission Band/Junior Lutherans for many years. She graduated from Benjamin Country School in 1935. She was a founding member of the Friendly Circle Club. Mrs. Tammen was a life long homemaker and farm wife and retired from the farm in 1985.

Thomas J. Courtney, 65, Watseka, IL
Thomas J. Courtney, 65, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his home.
Tom was born November 3, 1946 in Beaverville, a son of William and Stella Lareau Courtney. He married Kathy David on April 4, 1987 in Watseka and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Magan (Justin) Withers of Paxton and Karla Courtney of West Lafayette, IN; two sons, Doran Courtney of Donovan and Spencer Courtney of Watseka; one brother, William (Darlene) Courtney of Beaverville; three sisters, Shirley Mullen of Martinsville, Pam (Richard) Lottinville of St. Anne and Nancy (Edward) Hanen of Beaverville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Courtney served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watseka and retired from Bonnell Aluminum as a security guard.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. memorial service on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Wes Osborn will officiate. military rites will be conducted by the Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.

Lydia M. Carpenter, 67, Clifton, IL
Lydia M. Carpenter, 67, of Clifton passed away on Friday, December 30, 2011, at her rural Clifton residence following a lengthy illness. At her request, cremation rites have been accorded by the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. There will be no services or visitation. Interment will take place at a later date.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Puerto Rico on October 25, 1944, a daughter of Herbert and Lydia Salichs Harback. She married Ira J. Carpenter on August 29, 1986 in Blytheville, AR and he survives.
Also surviving are one stepson, Randy (Linda) Carpenter of Kankakee; one sister, Neisa Dawson of Charlottesville, VA; one brother, Herb (Laura) Harback of Keswick, VA; one niece, Andrea Dawson of Charlottesville, VA; and two nephews, Matt Harback of Keswick, VA and David (Willie) Harback of Bristol, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Carpenter was an administrator at Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee and had retired after 35 years of service. She was a registered nurse and had a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She loved all animals and enjoyed trips to Florida and watching sports on television, especially auto racing.
Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton is in charge of arrangements.
