Mary Maxwell

URBANA Funeral services for Mary R. Maxwell, 96, of Urbana, formerly of Longview, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Bongard. The Rev. Dwight Campbell will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bongard.

Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Freese Funeral Home, 202 W. Main, Sidney, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Maxwell died at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) at ManorCare of Urbana.

John Melin

SAVOY John Melin, 69, of Savoy died at 10:11 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy.

Betty Nolin

HOOPESTON Betty L. Nolin, 76, of Hoopeston died at 5:23 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston. The Rev. Danny A. Lybarger will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Bishop Edward O'Rourke

PEORIA Most Reverend Edward William O'Rourke, 81, retired bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Funeral Mass will be at noon on Tuesday at Saint Mary's Cathedral, 607 NE Madison St., Peoria. Bishop John J. Myers, Diocese of Peoria, will be the main celebrant. His Eminence, Francis Cardinal George, archdiocese of Chicago; visiting bishops; and priests of the Peoria Diocese will concelebrate.

Public visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. and from 8 to 10 p.m. Monday at the cathedral, followed by an evening prayer service, lead by Bishop Myers.

A visitation will also be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the cathedral.

Ralph Pumphrey

CHAMPAIGN Funeral services for Ralph Dean Pumphrey, 67, of Champaign will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., C. The Rev. Morris Christman will officiate.

Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Pumphrey died at 1 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at home.

Helen Rahn

ATWOOD Helen Rahn, 87, of Decatur, formerly of Atwood, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at Aspen Ridge Care Center, Decatur.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Atwood.

Ethel Rainwater

MONTICELLO Graveside services for Ethel M. Rainwater, 75, of Monticello will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City. The Rev. Allan Oman will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rainwater died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) at Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

Helen Rose

DANVILLE Helen Rose, 84, of Danville died at 3 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Carrington Funeral Home, 110 E. Court St., Fairmount.

Glen Shafer

DANVILLE Glen W. Shafer, 52, of Tilton died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Sager Campus, Danville.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. Ramie Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Danville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Alfred Smith

BALTIMORE Alfred Woodburn Smith, 53, of Baltimore, formerly of Danville, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1999) at Maryland General Hospital, Baltimore.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gibson Memorial Chapel, 314 N. Washington Ave., Danville. The Rev. Eugene Brandon will officiate. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Spring Hill Cemetery, Danville.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Olevia Walls

CHAMPAIGN Funeral services for Olevia Walls, 98, of the Care Centre of Urbana, formerly of 108 W. Washington St., C, will be at noon Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 808 E. Bradley Ave., C. The Rev. Lundy Savage will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Champaign.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Twin City Memorial Chapel, Champaign, is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Walls died at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) at the nursing home.

J.D. Williams

MEMPHIS, Tenn. J.D. Williams, 83, of Memphis, Tenn. died Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller Family Funeral Home, 3651 Austin Peay, Memphis, Tenn. Burial will be in Memphis Memory Gardens, Memphis, Tenn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Willard Boman

FARMER CITY Willard Cortis "Dick" Boman, 81, of Farmer City died at 3 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 29, 1999) at Jackson Heights Nursing Home, Farmer City.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 N. Main St., Farmer City.

Marvin Carlson

CISSNA PARK Marvin D. Carlson, 78, of Cissna Park died at 1 a.m. Monday (Sept. 27, 1999) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church, Cissna Park. The Rev. Raymond D. Radae will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Knapp Funeral Home, 219 W. Blaine St., Cissna Park.

William Edwards

CHAMPAIGN William "Bill" Edwards, 56, of 65 Greencroft Drive, C, died at 3:33 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1999) at home.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Morgan Memorial Home, 1304 Regency Drive West, Savoy.

Shirley Grover

TUSCOLA Shirley Ann Grover, 63, of Cathedral City, Calif., formerly of Tuscola, died at 7:55 p.m. May 20, 1999, at home.

Graveside memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Tuscola Cemetery. The Rev. Clyde Snyder will officiate.
