COLP -- Fred Daniel Moore, 58, of Colp, formerly of Mount Vernon, died at 4:05 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Evangelistic Outreach Christain Center, with Brother Gary Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Jackson Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

GALATIA -- Wanda Bridewell, 77, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lebanon Cemetery in Galatia, with the Rev. Denny Steed officiating. No visitation will be held. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois. Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia is in charge of arrangements.

CARBONDALE -- Joe Hamilton, 72, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Salem Township Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete at Jackson Funeral Home in Carbondale.

Donald H. Grapevine

MURPHYSBORO -- Donald H. Grapevine, 70, died at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at home in Murphysboro after an illness. He was born on Feb. 21, 1934, to Benjamin and Ella Viola (Knickerbocker) Grapevine in Peoria. He married Minnie E. Higgerson-Cottom on Sept. 6, 1969. He retired from the U. S. Army after 21 years of service and then also retired from the U. S. Postal Service of Peoria after 20 years of service. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post No. 127 in Murphysboro and also a member of the VFW. Mr. Grapevine is survived by his wife Minnie; two step-children, James Robert (Bertha) Cottom of Oklahoma and Kathy Jones of Columbus, Ohio; a son-in-law, Rex (Judy) Corwin of St. Louis; three granddaughters, Erica Babcott, Macie Corwin and Alicia Knickerman all of St. Louis; four great-grandchildren, Trevor and Sadie Babcott and Emma and Lillian Knickerman all of St. Louis; mother-in-law, Ruth Robinson of Murphysboro; two brothers, James (Sandra) Grapevine of Middleburg, Fla., and Everett (Delores) Grapevine of Springbay; three siters, Clara Bingaman of Norwood Park, Mary (Robert) Waldorf of Milddleburg, Fla., and Kathryn (Marvin) Newton of Gatewood, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Iris (Jack) Eastwood of Gilbertville, Ky., and Shirley Grissom of Murphysboro, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends, Mike and Pam Hennesey of Peoria, his beloved poodles Samantha and Brandy who were his constant companions spending time outdoors with him and begging for his attention. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond Grapevine and two sisters, Vivian Knickerbocker and Charlotte Smith. He will be missed by his family and many friends as his joking and teasing will no longer keep them laughing smiles on their faces. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29 at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel on Old Illinois 13 between Carbondale and Murphysboro, with the Rev. Jeff Gordon officiating. Interment will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Harvey D. Whitnel

GORVILLE -- Harvey D. Whitnel, 65, of Goreville passed away 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004, in the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Blue Funeral Home in Goreville, with Everett Whitnel giving the eulogy. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004. Burial will be in Cypress Masonic Cemetery in Cypress. Mr. Whitnel was born on Nov. 2, 1939, to William and Helen (Taylor) Whitnel in Johnson County. He is survived by brothers, Bill and Freda Jo Whitnel of Metropolis, Everett and Marilyn Whitnel of Vienna; sisters, Vera Schwarze of Franklin Park, Margaret Butler of Kingwood, Texas; three nephews, four nieces, seven great-nephews and one great-niece. McLEANSBORO -- Hylea Taylor, 93, of Davisburg, Mich., formerly of McLeansboro, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Riverbed Nursing Home in Blanc, Mich. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Little Springs Cemetery, McLeansboro, with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Irvin Moffitt

CARBONDALE -- Irvin Moffitt, 91, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at home. Services will be Tuesday at Boken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy, Hammond Ind. Local arrangements are through the Huffman-Harker Funeral Home.

Kenneth Edwards

CHRISTOPHER -- Kenneth Edwards, 56, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Gilbert Funeral Home, with Brother Bob Furlow officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Edwards was a welder. He was born on Oct. 28, 1948, in Christopher, to Hampton Edwards and Gladys Stevens. He married Donna Perkins and she survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Chassidy Gosnell of Coello, Dawn Redding of Christopher and Samantha Edwards of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; three stepchildren, Jesse Perkins of Benton, Jacob Perkin of Christopher and Autumn Perkins of Christopher; six grandchildren; one brother, Randy Edwards of Christopher; one sister, Pat Purcell of Rock Island; aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother, father and one son, Steven Edwards.

CHRISTOPHER -- Steven Edwards, 20, died at 12:08 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in St. Louis University Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Brother Bob Furlow officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery in Buckner. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Edwards worked as a laborer at Hargis Spraying Service and Cotton Club. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was born on Jan. 22, 1984, in Benton, to Kenneth Edward and Bonnie Gosnell. Survivors include three sisters Chassidy Gosnell of Coello, Dawn Redding of Christopher and Samantha Edwards of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; four nieces, two nephews and aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

CHESTER -- Elberta M. Kloth, 91, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville, Mo. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Schroeder-McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, with the Rev. Mark Willig and Vicar David Kern officiating. Burial will be in Ava Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Chester.

Nola Miller

CENTRALIA -- Nola Fay Miller, 98, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Centralia Manor. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, with John R. Willis officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Calumet Street Christian Church and will be received by the Styninger-Pacey Funeral Home, which is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joann Oestmann

HERRIN -- Joann Oestmann, 67, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004, at home after a seven-year battle with cancer. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin, with the Rev. Michael Neubert officiating. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Van Natta Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Inc. or First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Oestmann was born on Sept. 13, 1937 in Herrin, to George Egelberg and Ethel Egelberg. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Jan Oestmann, M. D., of Herrin and Eric and Shelley Oestmann of London, England; five grandchildren, Jenna Oestmann of Herrin, Garrett Oestmann of Herrin, Caleb Oestmann of Kingman, Ariz., Emily Oestmann of Kingman, Ariz., and Nicholas Oestmann of Kingman, Ariz.; her sisiter and brother-in-law, Mary and Jeffery Poulter of England. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Wayne Oesymann.

WEST FRANKFORT -- John Pistono, 95, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Westside Care Center in West Frankfort. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dewayne 'Sam' Keene

WEST FRANKFORT -- Dewayne 'Sam' Keene, 56, of West Frankfort, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Nov. 27, 2004, at the home of his daughter Kim. He was born on May 17, 1948, in Union City, Tenn., to A. S. Keene and Mildred (Darnell) Keene. He is survived by two daughters, Kim (Keene) Lee and husband, Carl and Victoria (Keene) Jordan and friend Greg Minor both of West Frankfort, by Bonnie Tatum of West Frankfort, the mother of his children. Also by grandchildren, Destiny McClement, Cody Lee, Derick and Dakota Jordan and Dustin Adams. He is also survived by two brothers, Wesley Keene of Sikeston, Mo., and Connie Keene of Columbus, Ky., and by sisters, Judy Connyers of Wickclyff, Ky., Shelby Dodd of Fredricktown, Mo., and Tina Hartline of Sikeston, Mo., by his little angels, Ceircy Carter, Brennan and Alec Franklin and by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Scott Keene in 1989, and by two brothers, Gary Keene and Andrew Keene and his little angel Airiana Carter. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Herrin. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with G. L. Keene officiating. Burial will be in Boner Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday to Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Edward J. Lannon

CHESTER -- Edward J. Lannon, 80, was called home Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Memorial Hospital in Chester. Ed was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis Grove. He was a retired asbestos worker. He served in the Army during World War II. He was born on May 24, 1924, in St. Louis, the son of Archie E. and Hilda (Smith) Lannon. He married Rose M. Plant on Aug. 4, 1943, in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on May 30, 1997. He is survived by one daughter, Nancy G. Cox and husband Terry of Rockwood; grandson, Andy Cox; and two great-grandchildren, Autumn Rose and Lauren Cox. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is also survived by his second wife, Louise; her son, Larry Costilow of Chester and her two daughter, Lisa White and Susan Yawn of Orlando, Fla. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester, with the Rev. Eugene Wojcik officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 28, 2004, and from 7:30 to 10:45 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Schroeder-McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester. They will then process to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. Memorials may be made to Masses.

Robert Kosman

JOHNSTON CITY -- Robert Kosman, 70, died at 11:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City, with the Rev. Larry Stevens officiating. He is survived by his friends at the Villa House in Johnston City. Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Jane Meixsell

CARBONDALE -- Mary Jane Meixsell, 80, of Carbondale, died after a short illness at 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in St. Louis University Hospital. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Nov. 25, 1924. Mass will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Harrisburg, by Father Don Abell. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg. It was her special wish that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to a charity of choice that will best contribute to the health and welfare of others. Also in accordance with her wishes her funeral will be private. In 1977, Mary Jane retired to Southern Illinois from the Ford Motor World Headquarters in Dearbon, Mich., where she worked as a supervisor of communications for more than 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Monte E. Meixsell of Carbondale; daughter, Patrice Meixsell-Draper; son-in-law, Cliff Draper; and grandson, Jack Draper of Brisbane, Australia; brother-in-law, Dr. Herald Brundage and wife, Linda Brundage of Glendale, Calif. She stood by the side of her loving husband for more than 54 years. Truly mourned by her family and friends, Mary Jane spent her life dispensing the precious gift of love and affection to all who knew her. That gift will not be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. Her last words at the moment of her death were in prayer and confident that she was in the hands of our Lord and Savior. May she have sweet dreams and rest in peace. Gaskins Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MARION -- Mary McIntosh, 88, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Arrangments are incomplete at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion.

Bonnie A. Grass-Bauman

HERRIN -- Bonnie A. Grass-Bauman, 83, of Southern Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, in Herrin Hospital. She was born on May 8, 1921, in Buncombe, daughter of Otis and Mary (Jenkins) White. She married Elmer 'Red' Grass in 1938 in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1980. She later married George Bauman in 1981 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She was a retired nurse's assistant from the Kankakee State Hospital. She and 'Red' Grass also owned and operated Anna Sheet Metal Works for many years. Later she worked for TIP Home Health in Johnson County. She was a volunteer for the Marion Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Johnson County Home Extension and a volunteer for the Senior Citizens Center in Marion. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Survivors include two sons, Roger Grass and wife Pat of Kankakee and their children, Jeff and wife Lorraine Grass, Jamey and wife Anja Grass and their children, Josh and Payton Grass, Amy and husband Mat Pepin; son, Norman and wife Judy Grass of Jonesboro and their daughter, Brianna Grass. Bonnie was from a family of 10 children and has one sister surviving, Faye and husband Junior Pierce of Carning, Ark. She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. Services will be conducted at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., at noon Monday, with Father Daniel Mosley officiating. Burial will be in Valle Spring Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro and from 10 a.m. to noon at Basler Funeral Home. Hileman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Jonesboro Public Library.

Frank Alfred Ellingsworth

MOUNT VERNON -- Frank Alfred Ellingsworth, 97, died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in Nature Trail Care Center, Mount Vernon. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Logan Street Baptist Church, with the Rev. Everett Lemany officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Dahlgren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Logan Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P. O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, IL 62864. Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ellingsworth retired from farming in Iowa in 1957 and later retired from Security Bank where he had worked as janitor. He was employed primarily in various types of sales. He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon. He was born Jan. 21, 1907, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Frank A. Ellingsworth and Frances (Pumphrey) Ellingsworth. He married Marjorie Maurine (Bailey) Ellingsworth Dec. 25, 1937 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Forrest Ellingsworth and wife Sue of Hampton, Va., and David Ellingsworth and wife Vicki of Dahlgren; four grandchildren, Steven Ellingsworth and wife Melanie of Pahucah, Scott Ellingsworth and wife Ginny of Virginia Beach, Va., Alicia Ellingsworth of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Cherise Ellingsworth of Norfolk, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Bailey Ellingsworth of Paducah, McKenzie Ellingsworth of Paducah and Morgan Ellingsworth of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several nieces and nephew. His parents, one brother, Arthur Ellingsworth and two sisters, Nellie Walters and Viola Boesch preceded him in death.

Blanche M. Malone

GALATIA -- Blanche M. Malone, 89, died at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, with the Rev. Earl Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Dillingham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 28, 2004, at Sloan Funeral Home. Mrs. Malone was a homemaker. She was a member of the Dillingham Community Church. She was born on Nov. 29, 1914, in Williamson County, to Charlie Gogue and Martha (Grant) Gogue. She married Kenneth 'Skinny' Malone on Dec. 3, 1932, in Galatia, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1992. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Dale Malone and Barbra of Marion; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Elbert Thompson of Carrier Mills; one sister, Fern Anderson of Thompsonville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son, Earl Dean Malone.

Lois Mill

NASHVILLE -- Lois Mill, 74, of Nashville, formerly of Ashley died at 1:40 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, in St. Mary's Medical Center in Richmond Heights. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom Ellison officiating. Burial will be in Beaucoup Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes. Association or to the donors choice.

Judith Gale Ray

MARION -- Judith Gale Ray, 65, of Dandridge, Tenn., met her God on Friday, Nov. 26, 2004. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend who was loved by all and will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Don Ray of Dandridge, Tenn.; daughters, Nancy Ray of Knoxville, Tenn., Dona Gibson of Jeferson City, Tenn.; sons, Bob Ray of Tampa, Fla., and Bill Ray of Plant City, Fla.; grandchildren, Zachary and Colin Ray of Tampa, Fla., Megan and Christopher Gibson of Jefferson City; brothers, Gene and Dale Rentfro; sisters-in-law, Loretta, Joyce and Paula Rentfro; as well as many nieces, a nephews and a lifetime of friends of southern Illinois. Judith joins her parents, James and Jessie Rentfro and her brother, Jim Rentfro in heaven. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Mill Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rusty Webster officiating. Interment will follow in Mill Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City, Tenn., is in charge of arrangements.

BROOKPORT -- James 'Jay' Allen, 80, died at 5:38 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Aikins-Farmer Brookport Funeral Home, with Father Larry McBride officiating. Burial will follow in Pell Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
