CLYDE D. "PAT" CONNOR
(1928~2004)

CREVE COEUR—Clyde Dean “Pat” Connor, 76, of 148 Oaklawn Circle died at 4:35 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2004 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born May 18, 1928 in Lennox, Iowa to Clyde Patterson and Lena Marie Strange Connor, he married Ella Mae Pierce on May 19, 1951 in Rome, Georgia.

Surviving are his wife; 3 sons, Jerry Clyde (Zayna) Connor of Ripley, West Virginia, Marsh Steven Connor of Sunnyland, and Randy Wayne Connor of Creve Coeur; 2 daughters, Donna Lynne (Roger) Allen and Sharon Denette (Steven) Camp, both of Creve Coeur; 11grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and 1 brother, Gerald Connor of Florence, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by 2 grandchldren and 1 brother.

A painter and iron worker for many years, Mr. Connor had worked for Lutz Steel Company in East Peoria for over 10 years.

He was a former member of Painters Union Local 157 in Peoria and Iron Workers Local 112 in East Peoria.

He was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church where he was formerly an usher and had served on several committees.

He was presently a board member of Fort Creve Coeur, Inc.

A woodworker, he had donated many items (puzzles, games, etc.) to the pediatrics floor at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur chapel. Rev. John Haney will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria where military graveside rites will be accorded.

CAROLYN COCHRAN
(1944~2004)

PEKIN ~ Carolyn A. Cochran, 59, of 2108 Highwood Avenue, died at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, July 11, 2004 at her residence.

Born August 3, 1944 in Danville, Virginia to Clyde Elwood and Irene E. Matherly Shreve, she married David F. Cochran on May 9, 1969 in New Kent, Virginia. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Amy R. (Derek) Budisalich of Tucson, Arizona and Abbey L. Cochran of Pekin; one granddaughter, Riley L. Budisalich of Tucson, Arizona and two sisters, Patsy Moore and Deborah S. Davis, both of Danville, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Johnnie Shreve.

She worked as a legal secretary for more than 30 years, last working in January, 2003 for Attorney Kirk W. Bode in Pekin. She also worked a number of years for the Honorable Richard D. McCoy, prior to his appointment to the judiciary.

She was a devoted mother and enjoyed shopping.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin and Pekin Country Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

CARL JOHNSON
(1925~2004)

In 1943

PEKIN ~ Carl A. Johnson, Jr., 79, of #3 Joan Court, died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born February 27, 1925 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Carl A., Sr. and Dolly Delay Johnson, he married Lorraine S. Slyder on October 6, 1945 in Methesda, Maryland. She died February 20, 2003 in Pekin. He also was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Regina Elaine Brown on February 2, 1999 in East Peoria.

Surviving are two sons, Carl A., III (Shirley) Johnson of Camdenton, Missouri and David A. (Lisa) Johnson of North Pekin; eight grandchildren, Carl A., IV (Kristina) Johnson of Indianapolis, Jennifer L. (Rhett) Beaumont of Palatine, Joshua L. Johnson of East Peoria, Anna M. (Josh) Powell of Pekin, Michael D. Johnson of Pekin, Nathan Brown, Jeremy Brown and Derek Brown, all of East Peoria; five great-grandchildren; one brother, James (Mary Kay) Johnson of Pekin and two sisters, Agnes M. Munge of Pekin and Diane (James) Hill of Morton.

A World War II Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Johnson worked out of Iron Workers Local 112 in East Peoria for 54 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a life member of the Tobin-Nanninga Detachment 085 of the Marine Corps League in Pekin. He also was a life member of William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1271, both in Pekin.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Beth McLaughlin will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens Chapel of Dreams in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the Marine Corps.

ARLEEN JORDAN
(1909~2004)

PEKIN ~ Arleen Helen Jordan, 95, of 335B Country Club Drive for the past four years, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.

Born May 23, 1909 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Benjamin L. and Elizabeth Ver Hyden Van Veghel, she married Roland F.K. Jordan, M.D., on June 2, 1931 in Chicago. He died December 16, 1963 in Pekin.

Surviving are one son, Roland F.K. “Rolly” (Edie) Jordan, Jr. of Pekin; two grandsons, Rick M. (Heather) Jordan of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Mark A. (Angie) Jordan of Rockton; two step-grandchildren, Gloria K. (Alan) Legel of Groveland and Lonny M. (Lisa) Louwers of Pekin; three great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

She was a life member of the Pekin Hospital League. She also had been active with the Tazewell County Republican Women.

Formerly an avid golfer, Mrs. Jordan was a member of Pekin Country Club and previously lived in a golf community in Stuart, Florida for twenty years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert N. Brite, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Private Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Hospital League, 600 South 13th Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.

CODY WRIGHT
(2004)

PEKIN ~ Cody Marvin Wright, infant son of Sonya Nicole Watson of 1219 Florence Ave., Apt. 16 and Russell Lane Wright of Peoria, was stillborn at 1 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.

Surviving are his parents; 2 brothers, Alex Micheal Shelby and Blake Allen Shelby, both of Pekin; grandmother and step-grandfather, Rebecca and Bob Sorensen of Groveland; grandmother, Kathy Wright of Russelville, Alabama; and great-grandmother, Marian King of Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Roy Marvin Watson, Arvilla and Walter Brown, and Ethel and John Wright.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 12, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel. Rev. Steven M. Rowell, Sr. will officiate.Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, 530 NE Glen Oak Ave., Peoria, IL 61637.

BRINDEN M. DORSEY
(2004)

PEKIN ~ Brinden Michael Dorsey, 5 months, of 1008 Market St. died at 3:19 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2004 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born January 16, 2004 in Pekin to Kathy Lynn Green and Brian Keith Dorsey.

Surviving are his parents; 1 brother, Logan Deskin of Pekin; 3 sisters, Crystal Dorsey, Brandi Dorsey, and Arianne Deskin, all of Pekin; grandparents, Gary Dorsey of Pekin, Ralph Green of Pekin, and Judith Hoffman of Branson, Missouri; and a great-grandmother, Mildred Watson of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kathy Dorsey; and his great-grandfather, George Hoffman.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Pastor Paul Helmig will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

LELA J. NIESMAN
(1924~2004)

PEKIN ~ Lela Josephine Niesman, 79, of 1004 Monroe, died at 9:08 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 in the emergency room of Pekin Hospital.

Born July 28, 1924 in Elm Grove Township, Tazewell County to Peter and Mabel Annagusta Wineburner Grubb, she married Alvin Albert Niesman on November 8, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Judy L. (David) Marke and Janet K. (Louis) Vachon, both of Washington; three grandchildren, Wendy L. (Robert) Schade of Savoy, Angie M. (Russ) Wilson of Saint Louis, Missouri, and Amy M. Vachon of Washington; and four great-grandchildren.

Her parents and one sister (Ila J. Grubb) preceded her in death.

A homemaker, Mrs. Niesman was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Kate Feeney-Bastian will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

GARY MCALLISTER
(1952~2004)

PEKIN ~ Gary Leon McAllister, 52, of 1308 Lincoln Street, died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 at his residence.

Born April 19, 1952 in Peoria to Lawrence Alfred and Helen M. Croft McAllister, he married Donna G. Patterson on May 25, 1974 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother of Pekin; one son, Jeffrey E. McAllister of Sherman Oaks, California and two brothers, Alfred E. (Becky) McAllister of Pekin and Robert K. (Lori) McAllister of Peoria Heights.

His father preceded him in death.

He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University in Normal in 1974.

He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. since 1974, where he was the Business Manager of Corporate Information Services. He previously worked in customer service and as a training instructor.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pekin and served the church as a Sunday school teacher. He also was a former trustee and board member of the church.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling and computers.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 at First Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Mark D. Friday and Rev. Frank Noyes will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and also from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 700 South Capitol Street, Pekin, Illinois or to the Central Illinois Memorial Kidney Fund, P.O. Box 235, Morton, Illinois 61550.

EUGENE GRUBB
(1913~2004)

CREVE COEUR ~ Eugene Grubb, 91, of Creve Coeur, died at 6:50 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.

Born January 19, 1913 in Beecher City, Illinois to Amos and Rose May Rickett Grubb, he married Frances Elizabeth Brown Fuller on July 16, 1948 in Peoria. She died January 21, 1983 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are one son, Richard J. “Buck” (Eva Lynn) Fuller of Forest City; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Annie Krug of Crystal Lake.

He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a machine gunner with the 185th Infantry in Pacific Theater. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. as a truck repairman, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Christian Life Church and Academy in Creve Coeur.

He was a member of Frank N. Nicol Lodge 1170, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Illinois in Creve Coeur.

He enjoyed gardening.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

HAZEL MALONEY
(1912~2004)

PEKIN ~ Hazel J. Maloney, 91, of 2220 State Street in Pekin, died at 5:45 p.m., Monday, June 28, 2004 at Pekin Hospital. She was formerly of 1203 South 12th Street in Pekin.

Born August 3, 1912 in Iowa to Charles and Susan Simpson May, she married Clyde Breedlove. He died in 1943. She later married Wilbur Maloney. He also preceded her in death along with one son, Allen Breedlove, two sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are one son, Wayne E. (Ione) Breedlove of Osteen, Florida; six grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Erma Dornberger of Bartonville, Vera Price of Morton and Gladys Dwyer of Pekin and three brothers, Don (Julia) May of Maquon, Clarence (Delores) May of Topeka and Thomas May of Meridosia.

She previously worked at Hiram Walker in Peoria and at Keystone Steel and Wire Company in Bartonville. She also had worked many years as a caretaker for the elderly.

She enjoyed flower gardening and taking care of her yard.

Her graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin. Greg Ristich will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

DOROTHY KOHLBACHER
(1907~2004)

PEKIN ~ Dorothy N. Kohlbacher, 97, of 1520 El Camino Dr. died at 4:30 a.m., Monday, June 28, 2004 at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of 503 Derby St.

Born March 25, 1907 in Green Valley to Charles and Maud Griffin Fisher, she married Carl Fredrick Kohlbacher on December 31, 1933 in Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her husband on August 2, 1960 in Pekin; 1 son, Kenneth Kohlbacher on October 12, 1985 in Pekin; 1 granddaughter; and 3 sisters.

Surviving are 1 daughter, Ms. Betty Bemus of Pekin; 1 son, John (Theresa) White of Birmingham, Alabama; and 2 grandchildren.

Mrs. Kohlbacher at one time was active Miller Senior Citizen Center in Pekin.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Chaplain Ronald E. Little will officiate. There will be no visitation. Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society.
