HAROLD W. "BILL" LEWIS
(1954~2004)

TREMONT ~ Harold William “Bill” Lewis, 49, of 401 South Chestnut Street, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Methodist Medical Center of Illinois in Peoria.

Born November 13, 1954 in Pekin to Harold H. and Linda L. Boyer Lewis, he married Veronica Lynn “Roni” Bale on April 6, 1974 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents of Pekin; one daughter, Taky L. E. (Chuck) Vedder of Tremont; one granddaughter, Taryn D. Vedder of Tremont; one brother, Robert (Nancy) Lewis of Pekin; and one sister, Kim (Dan) Lyle of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one infant half-sister.

He was a 1973 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

Mr. Lewis worked for Emerson Pontiac in Pekin as a mechanic for 8 ˝ years. He later worked for AmerenCILCO as a journeyman mechanic for 22 ˝ years, last working March 7, 2003 at the Eastern Garage in Washington.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 51 in Springfield.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before services. The Rev. David B. Craig will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

BURNETT "BARNEY" BRUMNS
(1923~2004)

PEKIN ~ Burnett George “Barney” Brumns, 81, of 1101 South 8th Street, died at 7:27 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2004 at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center in Pekin.

Born March 21, 1923 in Pekin to Jerry M. and Margaret Blaum Brumns, he married Doris G. Hood Kinsey on October 12, 1969 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are one sister, Florence L. (Russell) Patten of Pekin; two step-grandchildren, Michael A. Holcomb and Marcy Holcomb, both of Pekin; six nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one step-daughter, Pamela Holcomb; one sister, Katherine Cohenour and one nephew.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

A 1941 graduate of Pekin Community High School, he was a 1948 graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Administration.

He worked for WABCO in Peoria for 28 years, retiring in 1982 as the manager of the equipment order department. He then was a longtime employee of Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes.

He was a longtime volunteer escort at Pekin Hospital and was a recipient of his 1,000 hour badge. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of William Schaefer American Legion Post 44 in Pekin. He also was a member of the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where he was a member of the United Methodist Men and served on the Church Council.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Private Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

GARY GRAZIER
(1955~2004)

Pekin ~ Gary James Grazier, 49, of 311 Derby Street in Pekin, died at 8:17 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2004 at his residence.

He was born May 23, 1955 in Pekin to James and Beverly Darlene Karnes Grazier.

Surviving are his mother and step-father, Beverly D. and Thomas J. Kemper of South Pekin; one son, Gary James Grazier, Jr. at home; one daughter, Jennifer Louise (Rhett) Harkness of Winfield, Alabama; three grandsons, Braden Sean Kaylor, Lossen Rhett Harkness and Jarrett Rayne Harkness, all of Winfield, Alabama; three half-brothers, Walter Grazier, Terry Grazier and Wayne Grazier; one half-sister, Tina Grazier; one step-brother, Tom B. Kemper of Bushnell, Illinois; and one step-sister, Brenda.

His father preceded him in death.

A Vietnam War Army veteran, he served in Germany and attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class.

He worked for Neil’s Appliance and TV in Pekin for 26 years as a deliveryman, last working Friday.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for Gary J. Grazier, Jr., in care of Herget National Bank, 33 South 4th Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554-0839.

WAYNE ZIEGENBEIN
(1939~2004)

PEKIN ~ Wayne Edward Ziegenbein, 65, of 2113 Dominion Dr. died at 11:05 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2004 at his home.

Born July 19, 1939 in Pekin to William B. and Esther Blackburn Ziegenbein, he married Elaine Connerly on August 20, 1960 in Creve Coeur.

Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, Rev. David (Margaret) Ziegenbein of Raymond, Illinois and Dean (Lisa) Ziegenbein of Pekin; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, William Ziegenbein of Long Beach, Mississippi and Larry Ziegenbein of Metropolis, Illinois; and 5 sisters, Shirley Fryman of Pekin, Linda (Tommy) McCarver of Metropolis, Emma (Gary) Moore of Joppa, Illinois, Sandy (Dave) DePew of Marquette Heights, and Carol (Rick) Martin of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.

Mr. Ziegenbein had worked at Morton Metalcraft for 29 years, retiring as a designer in June 2004.

He had served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-75.

A member of Parkway Christian Church in Pekin since 1975, he had been the church treasurer from 2000-03.

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.

He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Parkway Christian Church in Pekin. Rev. Josh Bennett will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkway Christian Church.

ELIZABETH CARPENTER
(1915~2004)

Pekin ~ Lelia Elizabeth Carpenter, 89, formerly of 444 South Parkway Drive, Pekin, died at 8:40 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Hospice of Metro Denver Care Center in Denver, Colorado.

Born April 30, 1915 in Taylorville to Virgil Guy and Lelia Ann McClughan Martin, she married Howard Arnold Carpenter on April 28, 1934 in Havana. He died October 19, 1996 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother.

Surviving are one son, Richard Edwin (Joyce) Carpenter of Scottsdale, Arizona; one daughter, Sally Ann (Richard) Kisner of Centennial, Colorado; five grandchildren, Mark (Lorrayne) Carpenter, Scott Carpenter, both of Scottsdale, Arizona, David (Claire) Kisner of Parker, Colorado, Susan (Terry) Hartzfeld of Aurora, Colorado and Carl (Patrice) Kisner of Centennial, Colorado; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, J.B.(Janice “Dietz”) Martin of Topeka and three sisters, Betty L. Calhoun of Mapleton, Nancy A. (Wilfred) Bitner and Alice Martin, both of Havana.

A homemaker, Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Friendship Circle and Loyal Daughters Bible study.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at Second Reformed Church in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Harmen Heeg and Rev. Ralph H. Cordes will officiate. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004 in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.

RONNIE WHITBY
(1985~2004)

PEKIN ~ Ronald Eugene “Ronnie” Whitby, Jr., 19, of 1225 State Street, died at 11:20 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2004 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born May 13, 1985 in Pekin to Ronald E., Sr. and Loretta U. Endicott Whitby.

Surviving are his parents of Pekin; two brothers, Gary Michael (Carmen) Rollings of Bellvue, Nebraska and Ronald Lawrence (Lisa) Rollings of Pekin; two nieces, Alexandrea Rollings and Gretchen Rollings; two nephews, Gabriel Rollings and Gregory Rollings and his maternal grandmother, Lorraine Endicott of Pekin.

He formerly attended the Schramm Educational Center and presently was a Pekin Community High School student in their homebound special education program.

He was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.

He enjoyed collecting Ty Beanie Babies and was a Scooby Doo fan. He also enjoyed listening to country music on the Country Music Channel and watching Cartoons.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2004 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Syl Carter and Rev. Gregory D. Mason will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

DONALD L. FELTMEYER
(1925~2004)

SOUTH PEKIN ~ Donald L. Feltmeyer, 79, of 602 West Main Street, died at 11:12 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Pekin Hospital.

Born July 30, 1925 in Pinckneyville to Walter F. and Rachel Irene Sweatt Feltmeyer, he married Margaret Joy Coman on July 26, 1947 in Pinckneyville. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jack L. Feltmeyer of Chillicothe; two daughters, Donna J. (Ronald) Hawkins of South Pekin and Linda I. (Scott) Shreffler of Pekin; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pansy (Russell) Miller of Groveland.

His parents preceded him in death.

A United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he served from December 16, 1943 to May 8, 1946. He attained the rank of Corporal. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal for battle wounds received at Iwo Jima on March 3, 1945.

Mr. Feltmeyer worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1982 as an inspections supervisor in buildings J-N in East Peoria.

He was a member of the South Pekin Congregational Church and its men’s club. He had served on the South Pekin Village board for 35 years. He was a former member of the South Pekin P.T.A.

In earlier years, he played and managed the South Pekin baseball team that played in the Mackinaw Valley League. He also played baseball in the Caterpillar Sunday Morning League. He was an avid golfer and was a Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Thomas R. Cone will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South Pekin Congregational Church, South Pekin, Illinois 61564.

FLORENCE C. PFANZ
(1915~2004)

PEKIN, IL ~ Florence C. Pfanz, 89, of 1819 Quaker St. died at 9:13 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Pekin Hospital. She had been a resident of Pequot Lakes and Brainerd from 1978 – 2002.

Born February 3, 1915 in Trempealeau County, Wisconsin to Oscar and Mary Hauge Hanke, she married Eugene W. Pfanz.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 17, 1990 in Brainerd; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.

Surviving are 2 sons, Jeffrey (Debbie) Pfanz of Pekin and Allen (Robin) Pfanz of Florida; 4 grandchildren; 1 brother, William (Eleanor) Hanke of Rochester, Minnesota.

Mrs. Pfanz worked for Travelers Insurance Company in Peoria for many years, retiring as a bookkeeper in 1978.

She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3839 Auxiliary in Jenkins, Minnesota.

She enjoyed fishing, creating stained glass crafts, playing cards, cribbage, and bingo.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, September 17, 2004 at Pequot Lakes Village Cemetery. Rev. Frank Milo will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post #3839 Auxiliary in Jenkins.

ROBERT F. ENTRICAN
(1917~2004)

PEKIN ~ Robert Francis Entrican, 87, of 1318 Park Ave., died at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, September 12, 2004 at his home.

Born February 15, 1917 in Peoria to Joseph and Beulah Beatty Entrican, he married Lilly May Seward in 1963 in Pekin. She died January 9, 1975 in Peoria. He then married Mary Cotton in 1975. She died in 1986. He later married Dorothy Clayton in 1992. She died in November 2001.

He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Billy Myers in Viet Nam in 1968 and Donald Myers in 1996; and 1 brother.

Surviving are 2 sons, Charles (Mary Jo) Myers of Pekin and Earl (Mary) Myers of Washington, Illinois; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Entrican worked for the Toledo, Peoria and Western Railroad for 26 years, retiring in 1979 as a welder.

He served in the U.S. Army as an Army Ranger in both World War II and Korea.

He was a member of Faith Missionary Church in Bartonville.

He enjoyed buying new cars and travel.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Rev. David Swain will officiate. military rites will be provided by the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 4516 N. Sterling Ave., Suite 300, Peoria, IL 61615.

DONNA ENDICOTT
(1929~2004)

PEKIN ~ Donna Marie Endicott, 75, of 1711 Short Drive, died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born June 16, 1929 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Walter Harold and Leona Pearl Reid Seitz, she married Charles Edward Endicott, Sr. on November 12, 1946 in Bowling Green, Ohio. He died August 10, 2003 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are one son, Charles E. Endicott, Jr. of Garland, Texas; two daughters, Sheryn E. (Dr. John) Ellis of Indianapolis, Indiana and Jamie L. Kensinger of Carlton, Texas; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Marjorie (Andy) Giznsky of Monroe, Michigan and Marilyn (Basil) Taylor of Portsmouth, Ohio.

A homemaker, Mrs. Endicott had worked at Fab and Trim in Pekin for several years.

She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in rural Groveland, where she was a member of the Precious Memories Group. She was a former 15-year member of the Peoria Doll Club.

She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 13, 2004 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in rural Groveland. The Rev. Dr. Steven E. Hauter will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
