Dorothy C. Schrader, 90

Dorothy C. Kochert Schrader, 90, of 1915 Perrine St., died at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at the home of her daughter, Eileen Hilt.

Born Feb. 6, 1915, in Lafayette, she attended St. Francis High School in Lafayette.

She married Herman J. Schrader Jr. on Oct. 20, 1933, in Lafayette. He preceded her in death Nov. 20, 1994.

Mrs. Schrader was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church; the Third Order of St. Francis; the Legion of Mary; the Knights of Columbus 456 Ladies; the Senior Citizens of St. Lawrence; the Altar and Aid Society; and St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary. She made thousands of rosaries for missions, and was an avid sports fan of Central Catholic High School and Notre Dame.

Surviving are two daughters, Eileen Hilt (husband: Russell) of Lafayette and Sally Schrader of Orange, Calif.; five sons, James Schrader (wife: Barbara) and Richard Schrader (wife: Paulene), both of Lafayette, Robert Schrader (wife: Patricia) and Joseph Schrader (wife: Carolyn), both of Greensboro, N.C., and Michael Schrader (wife: Patricia) of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Rita Hobbs of Lexington, N.C.; and a brother, Robert Kochert (wife: Barbara) of Lafayette.

Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Lafayette, 5-8 p.m. Thursday, with Rosary at 4:45 p.m. Funeral Mass, 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Father Dan Gartland officiating. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery. Surviving are 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by parents, George and Elizabeth Albert Kochert; her husband, Herman Schrader Jr.; 3 brothers, Michael, Vincent and Valentine "Dick" Kochert; a sister, Mary Magdeline Kochert; 3 great-grandchildren, twins Justin and Jacob Hilt, and Abigail Hilt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lafayette Catholic Schools, c/o Herman & Dorothy Schrader Scholarship Fund, 2410 S. 9th St., Lafayette IN 47905 or St. Lawrence Education Trust held in the Catholic Foundation of North Central Indiana Inc., 1916 Meharry St., Lafayette IN 47904.

Calvin L. Boyd, 78

CAMDEN -- Calvin L. Boyd, 78, of Camden, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Delphi.

No further information was available.

Joseph P. Duncan, 92

Joseph Paul Duncan, 92, of Oaktown, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Vincennes.

He was born Jan. 31, 1913, in Greenwood.

Mr. Duncan married Jessie O. Boger on March 15, 1934, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 2001.

He was a retired pilot for Green Construction Company. His first solo flight was May 2, 1939, in a J-3 Piper Cub cruising at 50 mph. His last flight was Nov. 29, 1987, in a Learjet Model 35 cruising at 550 mph. He had a total flying time of 23,654 hours and 30 minutes, equivalent to 2.7 years of non-stop flying. He had traveled over five million miles at his last engine shut-down at age 74. He was also a uniformed Army World War II flight and ground instructor at Muncie and Purdue University airports.

Mr. Duncan was a member of the Indianapolis Chapter of Quiet Birdmen, Elks Lodge in Vincennes and Bruceville Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are his son, Robert E. Duncan of Indianapolis; his daughter, Patricia Joan Miller of Oaktown; a brother, Maurice Duncan of Florida; and 2 sisters, Wilma Howard of Winchester and Georgia Koch of Indianapolis.

Funeral services are today in Oaktown.

Jeffory A. Goetz, 47

Jeffory A. Goetz, 47, of Fowler, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, in his home.

No further information was available.

Carol E. Hines, 90

HILLSBORO -- Carol Evelyn Brown Hines, 90, formerly of the Hillsboro community, died at 3:08 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Indiana Veterans' Home in West Lafayette.

No further information was available.

Golda Lamb, 90

Golda Wall Lamb, 90, died at Regency Place in Lafayette. She had been a resident there since March 10 for rehabilitation of a broken hip.

Born Aug. 22, 1914, in Joplin, Mo., she spent 80 years in Joplin and Monett, Mo. In 1998, she came to Lafayette to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Leroy Osterloh.

Her marriage was to Curtis Edward Lamb on Feb. 10, 1932. He preceded her in death Sept. 8, 1988.

In Monett, she was a longtime member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed the Good Earth Garden Club, the Pleasant Dale Extension Club and the Railway Mail Clerks Association (later called NARFE). She and her husband enjoyed camping and fishing.

Surviving are a granddaughter, 2 great-granddaughters. Memorials may be made to Serenity Hospice, 209 E. 5th St., Fowler IN 47944.

Services were Monday in Monett.

Robert R. Lamb, 84

Robert R. Lamb, 84, of 982 Southernview Drive S., died at 6:27 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at Home Hospital.

Born July 10, 1921, in West Point, he was a 1940 graduate of Wea High School. He had lived in Lafayette since 1991 coming from Carroll County, where he had lived since 1953.

He married Helen Ward on Jan. 1, 1948, in Lafayette, and she survives.

Mr. Lamb farmed until retiring in 1991. He served in the 40th Troop C Squadron 317th Troop C group of the Army Air Corps, receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with five bronze stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and the Distinguished Unit Citation with an oak leaf cluster.

He was a member of the American Legion in Delphi and past president of the Carroll County Pork Producers. He enjoyed model railroading.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, R. Robert Lamb (wife: Bonnie) of Burnettsville and Steven E. Lamb (wife: Denise) of Bringhurst; and a brother, J. William Lamb (wife: Nora) of West Lafayette.

C. June Savory, 78

ROSSVILLE -- Cora June Savory, 78, of Rossville, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at her residence.

Born April 2, 1927, in Rossville, she was a 1944 graduate of Rossville High School and had been a resident since 1949. She had previously lived in Dayton, Ohio, and Long Island, N.Y.

She married William "Bill" Savory on Jan. 19, 1946, in Richmond, and he survives.

Mrs. Savory retired from the Kent Ryan Law Office and had previously been employed as personnel manager with Del Monte Foods in Frankfort. She had also worked in Dr. Fred Flora's office for two years and managed the Selective Service office in Frankfort.

She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church, where she taught the "Golden Cheer," and was also involved in the Youth Fellowship of the church and church choir along with her husband. She was a former Girl Scout leader and also served as former president of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rossville Present Day Ladies Group.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Kathy Gilpin (husband: Paul) of Brimfield, Ill., and Lynn Barnhart (husband: Jim) of Tullahoma, Tenn.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bodine Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to 11 a.m. services Thursday at Rossville Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Gretchen Schneider officiating. Interment Rossville Cemetery. Surviving are 5 grandchildren, Gregg Barnhart, Mark Barnhart, Scott Barnhart, John Kantz and Julie Schmidt; and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two brothers, John and Durward Carson. Memorials may be made to Rossville Presbyterian Church.

Cassandra Cline, infant

MICHIGANTOWN -- Cassandra Yvonne "Cassie" Cline, the 3-month-old daughter of Jessie Cline of Michigantown, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.

She was born May 24, 2005, in Frankfort.

Surviving with her mother is a brother, Quinton Cline, at home in Michigantown.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday at Archer-Weston Funeral Home. Services there 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Greg Teegarden officiating. Interment Hills Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving are her grandparents, Christine "Mamaw" and Patrick Morris of Michigantown, and Neil and Leah Cline of Pickard; her great-grandparents, B. Margaret Armstrong of Forest and James E. Armstrong of Kokomo; a great-great-grandmother, Margaret O. Armstrong of Pittsboro; 2 aunts, Jamie Kelly of Frankfort and Jamie Kelly of Michigantown; and several great-aunts and uncles. Preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, William and Barbara Cline. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the funeral home to assist the family with final expenses.

Effie M. Douglas, 97

CAMDEN -- Effie Malissa Stinebaugh Douglas, 97, of Camden, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester.Born March 2, 1908, in Camden, she attended Camden schools and was a graduate of Rossville High School in 1926. She graduated from Manchester College in 1929 after studying English, Latin and mathematics in 1961 with a supervisor license and minor in English.

Her marriage was to Lawrence Douglas in 1932, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Douglas was a teacher at Camden High School for three years, for 37 years in Carroll County and served as director of guidance at Carroll High School for six years. She directed class plays and usually served as junior and senior class sponsor.

In 1958, Mrs. Douglas attended the first state convention of the Indiana Junior Classical League at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. After her retirement, she continued in her position with the organization as scholarship banker and made presentations at state meetings until 1993. The Effie Douglas Membership Award was named in her honor and is now awarded each year at state conventions.

She served a two-year term on the Manchester Alumni Board in the 1970s.

Mrs. Douglas was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International since 1959, serving as recording secretary, vice president and president of the Theta Chapter. She worked at the state level of Alpha Epsilon as chairman of publicity, attending state, regional and international conventions for 20 years. She was also active in the Indiana School Women's Club, a life member of the National Education Association, National and Indiana Retired Teacher associations, American Classical League and the Indiana State Teacher Association.

As a member of the Indiana Personnel and Guidance Association, she assisted in the organization of the Northwest Central Chapter in Lafayette, serving as its first treasurer and later as secretary and president.

In 1987, she was grand marshall of the Flora Christmas Parade. She was listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who of American Women, Notable Americans of the Bicentennial Era and Personalities of the West and Midwest.

Mrs. Douglas and her husband were members of the Bachelor Run Church of the Brethren where she taught pre-schoolers for 70 years, served as deacon and directed music. She also served on the Children's Cabinet for the Middle Indiana Church of the Brethren.

Surviving is a son, Max Douglas (wife: Joyce) of Denver, Colo.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Reinke Funeral Home in Flora. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday at the Living Faith Church of the Brethren, Dana Wood officiating. Interment Maple Lawn Cemetery. Surviving are a granddaughter, Lynn McCamant of Aloha, Ore.; 2 great-grandchildren, Samuel and Elizabeth of Aloha; 3 nieces, 1 nephew, 16 grandnieces and nephews and several great-grandnieces and nephews. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Timbercrest Healthcare Center for the new Health Care addition. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
