Frances Elaine Myers
HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -- Frances Elaine Myers, 88, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of
LaPaz died Aug. 24, 2011.
She is survived by her children, Stanley (Mary Ann) Myers, Karl (Darlene) Myers, Rita (Lowell)
Berkowitz, Lois (Randy) James, Dale (Susan) Myers, Nancy Ash, and Marilyn (Craig)
Koppelman; sister, Virginia Goss Brown; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday, Aug. 26 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in
Hendersonville, Tenn.
Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Hendersonville, Tenn., assisted the family with arrangements.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home is assisting with local arrangements.

Katie Pike
PLYMOUTH -- Katie Pike, 89, of 328 Conger St., Plymouth, passed away of natural causes
after a lengthy illness at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the home of her daughter,
Delores Dipert.
Katie was born in Monterey, Oct. 27, 1921, to Richard and Anna Smith Ludwig.
She was married to John Hall in the mid-1930s and was blessed with two children.
In 1943, Katie was married to Claude Pike and had five more wonderful children.
Katie was a long time member of the Old Time Religion Tabernacle and a devoted parishioner of
The House of Prayer. She loved to teach her Sunday school class and sing praises to her loving
God.
Katie had prepared herself for many years for her final journey.
She was a devoted housekeeper for many years for Dr. James and Katie Kubley, Dr. James and
Joanne Robertson, Chuck and Helen Glaub, Ernie and Mary Probst, Dottie and Henry Butler,
Milan and Jane Levett and many others.
Katie loved to put puzzles together with her grandchildren and play games of Skip-Bo and Sorry
with her family. She also enjoyed reading, her doll collection and working in her yard. She loved
her flowers and enjoyed walking.
Surviving their beloved mother are her daughters, Shirley Conley, Elkhart, Delores Dipert and
Sharon Standley, of Plymouth, and two sons, James Pike of Plymouth and Rolland Pike of
Elkhart.
Seventeen grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren also
survive.
Preceding her in death are her husbands, John and Claude; one daughter, Laurel Anna Pike; a
son, Delbert Hall, Argos; and a grandson Keith Dipert.
Friends are invited to say goodbye to Katie at a visitation Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, from 4 to 8
p.m. at the House of Prayer, 12450 Plymouth-Goshen Trail Plymouth, IN 46563.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the House of Prayer United
Pentecostal Church 12450 Plymouth-Goshen Trail Plymouth, IN 46563 with Rev. R. D.
Humphrey and her grandson Rev. Spencer S. Standley officiating.
Memorial gifts in Katie’s memory may be made to the House of Prayer.

Dennis L. Smith
GROVERTOWN -- Dennis L. Smith, 56, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011 in his home.
Survivors include his father, Harold Smith of Grovertown; and one sister, Diana Stacy of Knox.
Funeral services were Monday at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Burial will be at the Oak Grove cemetery, LaCrosse. Visitation was Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and
Monday after 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Gloria Deane Kotal
Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. Psalm 126:5
NORTH LIBERTY -- Gloria Deane Kotal, 76, of North Liberty passed away at 3:55 a.m.
Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011 in Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle after a long illness. She was born
Sept. 5, 1934 in Gary to Joseph J. and Rose E. (Carrico) Valovich.
Gloria’s life is celebrated by her children, Frances M. Touhey of Mishawaka, Thomas C. Touhey
Jr. of Koontz Lake, Theresa R. (Brian) Eckert of New Carlisle, Laurie A. Touhey of New Carlisle,
Joseph Timothy (Lisa) Touhey of Cassopolis, Mich. and Rachel L. (Dave) Williams of South
Bend. She will always be loved by her grandchildren, Sarah L. (Jack) Barbour, Ruth E (Al) Clark,
Matthew Touhey, Andrea N. (Justin) Goss, Chase E. Touhey, Celia R. (Adam) McCarty, Melanie
M. Voss, Joseph L. (Colleen) Voss, Timothy P. (Carley) Touhey, Sean M. Touhey, Charles L.
Touhey, Joseph J. Touhey, Jesse D. Williams and Cody J. Williams. Twenty-three great grandchildren
will share memories of visiting the 'cow grandma.' Two great-great-grandchildren
and those yet unborn will grow up with stories of her delicious pies, unconditional love and her
charity. Gloria was the eldest sister of Charles E. Valovich, Rose E. (Charles) Sorg, Stephen A.
(Linda) Valovich, Joan S. (Everett) Lee and Ruth A. Blystone, who survive. A special nephew,
John (Celeste) Dooms of North Liberty, also survives her. She was preceded in death by her
parents; husbands, Thomas C. Touhey, Sr. and Joseph F. Kotal; her beloved daughter, Christina
M. (Touhey) Voss; her beautiful grandson, Seth I. Eckert; brother, Joseph J. Valovich, Jr. and
brother-in-law, Frank E. Kotal.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 in the
St. Patrick Catholic Church, 810 Tyler St., Walkerton. Burial will follow in Highland cemetery,
South Bend. Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville is handling the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gloria D. Kotal may be offered to the donor’s
favorite charity.

Edna Schwartz
NAPPANEE -- Edna Schwartz, 10495 W 1350 N, Nappanee, age 89, died at 4 a.m., Thursday,
Aug. 25, at her home.
Surviving are daughters, Ruby Schwartz, Wilma Schwartz, Nancy Fern Schwartz, all of
Nappanee, Linda Sue (David H.) Miller, Bremen; sons, Ervin (Carol) Schwartz, LaVern (Carolyn)
Schwartz, and Earl Ray (Marietta) Schwartz, all of Nappanee, Allen (Mary Ellen) Schwartz,
Milford, and Jerry Lee (Betty) Schwartz, Shipshewana, 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren,
and brothers, William (Mary) Chupp, Bremen and Edward (Alta) Chupp, Nappanee.
Visitation is all day today at the family residence. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Saturday,
also at the family residence. Burial will be in Weldy cemetery.
Arrangements are with Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.

Anton B. Braun
NORTH LIBERTY -- Anton B. Braun, 33, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 in
South Bend. Anton was born July 8, 1978 to Philip and Suellen (Thiel) Braun in Plymouth. Aug.
2, 2003 in South Bend he married Tracy (Parks) Braun. Mr. Braun graduated from John Glenn
High School and Lima Tech and worked as a heavy equipment technician.
Anton is survived by his wife, Tracy Braun of North Liberty; four children, Anton Braun Jr.,
Michael Braun, Devin Braun and Katelynn Braun, all at home; parents, Philip Braun Sr. and
Suellen Braun; three brothers, Philip Braun Jr., James (Lisa) Braun, and Robert Braun; four
sisters, Jennifer (Richard) Guernsey, Rene (Tony) Hellmann, Marie (Bill) Neumann and Kristen
(Ivan) McCammack; in-laws, Mike and Janice Lynn and nine nephews and three nieces.
As per Anton’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service held Friday,
Sept. 2, 2011 at 7 p.m. EDT in the Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Road,
Walkerton. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 5 p.m. until the time of the
service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to TCU on behalf of the Braun
children.

John R. Mars
ORLANDO, Fla. -- John R. Mars, 92, of Orlando, Fla., formerly of Culver died Aug. 26, 2011 at
5:30 a.m. in Orlando, Fla.
He is survived by sons, Anthony C. Mars and Dr. J. Peter Mars.
Services will be Thursday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. at the Culver Academy Chapel.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, Culver, or the John R. and
Phyllis Mars Scholarship Fund in care of the The Culver Academy.
The Odom Funeral Home, Culver is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth "Libby" Marshall
BOURBON -- Elizabeth 'Libby' Marshall, 91, of Bourbon passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at
1:10 p.m. in her home. She had been in failing health.
Libby was born the daughter of the Rev. George Snider and Rev. Zoa French Snider Aug. 2,
1920 at Bluffton. She married Jonathan Shakes Marshall in November of 1950; he died Nov. 18,
1980.
Libby was a retired nurse. However, she never really retired as she was known as being the 'Ask
a Nurse' of Bourbon. She was always willing to help those in need with medical questions. She
retired from Parkview Hospital of Plymouth and had worked and taught as a Clinical Instructor in
Medical Nursing at both Memorial Hospital of South Bend and Methodist Hospital of Indianapolis.
She was so passionate about her career that she was providing a private scholarship for two
Triton graduates who are pursuing careers in nursing. She also was a partner in el-Mar-co Kwik
Knit Shop of Bourbon with her friend Marjorie Cook. Her service to the community was varied as
she served on the Marshall County Cancer Board, American Red Cross Nurse Corps, Bourbon
Public Library Board and Marshall County Historical Society Board. She was even a past
Blueberry Parade marshal. Libby was a graduate of Kokomo High School class of 1948 and
Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She was charter organist of Kokomo’s
Job’s Daughters and for a while pianist for the Bourbon Eastern Star. Most people’s memory of
Libby was for the 60 plus years of faithfully playing the organ at the Bourbon First United
Methodist Church as well as the many weddings and funerals she was asked to provide music
for.
Libby is survived by her step-niece, Deborah and Steve Calhoun of Plymouth; step-nephew,
David and Mary Swihart of Goshen; cousins, Roger and Annabelle French of Ft. Wayne, Murian
Burniworth of Huntington and many very close friends of the community.
She was preceded in death by her best friend and sister, Mary Jane Swihart.
The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 29, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Deaton-Clemens
Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, IN 46504.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011 at 10 a.m. in the Bourbon First United Methodist
Church with Rev. Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating.
Burial will follow in Parks cemetery Bourbon.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Bourbon First United Methodist Church
or Marshall County Historical Society.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.

Linda L. (Ruby-Bell) Rupchock
WALKERTON -- Linda L. (Ruby-Bell) Rupchock, 71, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 in her home.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Rupchock; six daughters, Cindy (Jake) Kaser of
Plymouth, Tammy (Don) Parker, Julie Cassady, Jane Bell, Chris Norem and Tina (David)
Dickinson, all of Walkerton; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great
grandchild; and two brothers, Harold John (Sally) Ruby of Argos and Rick (Gerri) Ruby of
Walkerton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. EDT at the Walkerton United Pentecostal Church.
Burial will be at the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton. Visitation is at the Walkerton United
Pentecostal Church, Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 1 p.m. until the time of services. In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.
Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel is handling arrangements.

Marie (Savage) Kindle
PIERCETON -- Marie (Savage) Kindle, 53, of Pierceton died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011 at 8:40
a.m. in her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Hadley Gill of Pierceton.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 at 1 p.m. in McHatton-Sadler
Funeral Chapel Warsaw. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011. Burial will be in
Oakwood cemetery, Warsaw.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kindle family.

Ethel Robinson
PLYMOUTH -- Ethel Robinson, 81, lived in Osceola, all of her life, until moving to Riverwalk
Retirement Homes in October of 2010. She died of natural causes at 6:16 a.m. in Miller’s
Assisted Living Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011.
Ethel was born April 30, 1930, in New Carlisle. She was the daughter of Randall Draper and
Sophia Lorene Brothers Draper.
She attended Osceola School and then her high school years at Mishawaka High School
graduating with the class of 1948.
Oct. 29, 1950, in the Osceola Methodist Church, Ethel and Kennedy Robinson, high school
sweethearts, were married . They would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this
coming October.
Ethel worked for 40 years in the Bendix Mishawaka plant. She retired as an executive secretary
on her birthday in 1992.
For many years, Ethel was a Mary Kay representative. An excellent seamstress, she made many
of her own clothes in her younger years.
She was an avid reader and camper. She and her husband started camping in 1965, and
camped all over the country. For many years, 1993 to 2010, they wintered in Arizona. She was a
big Notre Dame fan and followed Ryan Newman’s race car triumphs enthusiastically.
Ethel was a member of the Osceola United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.
Ethel is survived by Kennedy, her devoted husband, Plymouth and by their son and daughter-in-law,
Kennedy 'Ken' and Sharen Robinson, also of Plymouth.
Also surviving is a grandson, Brian Robinson and his fiancée, Sarah Keefe, both of Plymouth
and a granddaughter, Jennifer Robinson of Indianapolis.
A sister, Eleanor (Ed) Gindelberger, Dayton, Ohio, and numerous cousins survive as well.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends are invited to meet with Ethel’s family Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Ethel will be in the Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
10776 McKinley Ave., Osceola, at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, with calling from noon to 1 p.m.
Entombment will be in the Chapel Hill Mausoleum.
Memorial gifts in Ethel’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
