Richard Eugene Zentz
PLYMOUTH -- Richard Eugene Zentz, 82, of 17315 Tomahawk Trail, Plymouth, died Oct. 7,
2011 at 11:49 p.m. at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, following a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 2, 1929 in Bourbon to Claude and Eva (Kelsey) Zentz. He lived in Argos for 25
years and moved to Plymouth in 1975.
April 3, 1948 he married Jennie (Becknell) Zentz; she survives.
He was a factory worker at AM General for 26 years. He was a faithful member and a deacon at
Faith Baptist Church, Plymouth. He was a graduate of Bremen High School class of 1947. He
loved to go fishing and hunting.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Jennie Zentz, he is survived by three sons, Ted (Becky) Zentz
of Plymouth, Roger B. (Lori) Zentz of Argos, Dean (Deb) Zentz of Warsaw; 14 grandchildren and
13 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Raymond (Wanda) Zentz of Bremen, Russell (Mary
Ann) Zentz of Hamlet, James Zentz of Argos.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Allen Zentz (May 23, 2008); and two brothers,
Donald and Larry Zentz.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday Oct. 11, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 12, 2011 at the Faith Baptist Church, 12987 Peach
Road, Plymouth, with Rev. Paul Whitworth of Faith Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.
Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 12987 Peach Road, Plymouth, IN
46564.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos.

Barbara R. "Babs" Maze
PLYMOUTH -- Barbara R. ‘Babs’ Maze, 76, 302 S. Michigan St., Plymouth, passed away
Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at her home. Babs knew it was her time for her passing and she was
prepared to go ahead.
Babs was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Plymouth, to Arden and Roma (Zimmerman) McFarland. She
graduated from Plymouth High School in the class of 1953. Babs married Robert Maze Jan. 26,
1952. Robert passed away July 9, 1996. Babs loved to travel, attend family reunions, crochet,
enjoyed skeet shooting, plinking with her rifle, and was a ‘crack shoot.’ She was also well known
for working as a waitress at Mundy’s Restaurant, where she had been employed for many years.
Babs is survived by her sons, Gary (Diana) Maze of Plymouth, Paul (Joann) Maze of Koontz
Lake, and Wayne (Annette) Maze of Coloma, Mich.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren;
her brothers, Monte McFarland of Illinois, Ralph McFarland of Bremen, and Terry
McFarland of Plymouth. Babs was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her daughter,
Vickey Hester Feb. 26, 2002, and her sister, Kay.

Walter Prater
UNION MILLS -- Walter Prater, 66, died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011 in Wintersong Village, Knox.
Survivors include one son, Walter Jr. of Sullivan; two daughters, Kimberly Prater of Sullivan and
Syerra Prater of LaPorte; one stepson, Marty Prater of Sullivan; one brother, Henry Prater Jr. of
Knox; and several grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at 12 p.m. CDT at Tracy cemetery.
Rannells Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Adlene I. Halterman
ROCHESTER -- Adlene I. Halterman, 94, of Rochester, died at 12:40 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 9,
2011 at Woodlawn Hospital.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service in
the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene, American Heart Association, or the
American Lung Association.

Virgil "Jiggs" Lidgard
WALKERTON -- Virgil ‘Jiggs’ Lidgard, 84, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center, Plymouth.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Richard (Deloris) Lidgard of Walkerton and James
(Julie) Lidgard of St. Cloud, Fla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at 5 p.m. EDT at Rannells Funeral Home,
Koontz Lake Chapel. Visitation is Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation
will follow.

Kathy S. Ward
PLYMOUTH -- Kathy S. Ward, 60, of Plymouth died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at her residence.
She is survived by her mother, Vera Ward of Plymouth; son, Roger (Cathy) Ward of New
Carlisle; one grandchild; siblings, Bruce (Beverly) Ward and Cheri L. (Willis) Northcutt all of
Plymouth.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the 2:30 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at
Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Hilary Dale 'Moose' Walterhouse
BREMEN -- Hilary Dale 'Moose' Walterhouse, 81, of Bremen died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at
Rivercrest Specialty Hospital, Mishawaka following a short illness.
He is survived by his wife Susan of Bremen, three sons: Kent Walterhouse of Wolcottville, Tom
(Debbie) Walterhouse of Kendallville, and Marty (Desirae) of Hutchinson, Minn., eight
grandchildren, and sister Phyllis Sahlhoff of Bremen.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church,
Bremen. Burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011 at the family’s home and one hour before
the service Sunday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Parish Fellowship (605 S. Center St., Bremen,
IN 46506).
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Andrea M. Adair
TIPPECANOE -- Andrea M. Adair, 36, Tippecanoe, passed away at 4:34 p.m., Wednesday,
Oct. 12, 2011, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.
Born in Logansport, Jan. 3, 1975, Andrea was the daughter of Robert and Michelle Wolf
Newman.
She was married June 3, 2006, in Logansport, to Chuck Adair, who survives.
Andrea was a 1993 graduate of Logansport High School. She had been a Cass County Deputy
Assessor and a Marshall County Deputy Assessor. Andrea had also been employed at Biomet
Sports Medicine Division. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, and also
enjoyed camping, hunting and sports.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Kirra Ann Adair and Samuel Glenn Adair,
both at home; her mother, Michelle Cline, Logansport; siblings, Brooke (Seth) Marks, Bradenton,
Fla.; Anthony M. (Harmony) Newman, West Lafayette; Tyler W. (Briana) Cline, Monterey; and
Michelle Cline, Logansport; great-aunt, Ellen Nelson, Dyer; aunts and uncles, Patricia Loner, The
Villages, Fla.; Joseph and Louann Newman, Colorado and Missouri; Mike and Doris Wolf,
Logansport; Steve and Amber Wolf, Fishers; and Scott and Nyla Wolf, Noblesville; a number of
nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Her father preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Kroeger Funeral Home, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The service will be at 5 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home, with Jeff Strite officiating. Burial will
be in Bethel cemetery, Logansport. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund for the
children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Latisha Lee Birchmeier
PLYMOUTH -- Latisha Lee Birchmeier, 33, of Thayer Street, Plymouth, died Oct. 12, 2011 at
her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Brandon A. Birchmeier of Plymouth; daughter, Raven L.
Birchmeier, at home; sons, Dylan Campbell of Culver, Cameron Foy of Munster, and Gage A.
Birchmeier at home; father, James W. Campbell of Kewanna; and in-laws, Jeff and Angie
Birchmeier of Plymouth.
A family service will take place.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth is assisting with arrangements.
Memorial gifts may be made to the family.

Mary K. Smothers
SHELBYVILLE -- Mary K. Smothers, 85, passed away at home in Shelbyville Oct. 12, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her husband Claude and daughter Linda. She is survived by two
daughters, Dolly Smothers of Shelbyville and Judy (Floyd) Smith of Springdale, Ark. and three
grandchildren, Tammy Mize and Barb Preist of Springdale, Ark. and Joey Smith of Bremen.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 15.

Jane Ann Hoffman
ROCHESTER -- Jane Ann Hoffman, 66, of 4246 N. 375 W. Rochester, died at 2 p.m.,
Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011 at her residence.
She is survived by her husband, Rick; daughters, Jennifer (Al) Ratner of Iowa City, Iowa,
Danielle Muse of Rochester; five grandchildren; sister, Debra K. (George 'Skip') Stanton of
Lexington, Ky.; and brother, Edward J. (Paige) Stanton of Raleigh, N.C.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 in the Good Family Funeral Home,
1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the
service in the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Athens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice of Fulton County.

Rollan O. Riddle
PLYMOUTH -- Rollan 'Rollie' O. Riddle, 91, of 11036 9A Road, Plymouth, passed away at
12:50 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth.
Rollan was born Nov. 5, 1919, in Plymouth, to Owen and Ella (Ottow) Riddle. Aug. 29, 1948,
Rollan married the former Jean L. Poor in Plymouth. Together they raised their two daughters.
Rollie attended Inwood United Methodist Church. He proudly served his country in the United
States Army during WWII. He was a staff sergeant and was with Company A 324th Infantry. He
served in Rhineland, northern France, and central Europe. Rollie was a lifetime member of the
VFW. He retired from NIPSCO, in the gas and construction departments, after 33 years of
service. He did a lot of traveling during that time. Rollie loved to fish, hunt deer, turkeys, and
ducks. He also enjoyed bowling.
Rollie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jean; their daughters, Barbara Riddle of
Lafayette and Suzanne (Doug) Feece of Plymouth; his sister, Velma (David) Jordan of South
Bend; his brother, Robert (Connie) Riddle of Mishawaka; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren;
and two great-great-grandchildren. Rollan was preceded in death by his brother,
Kenneth Riddle.
