Everett J. Anstett, 87, of Fowler, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at Lane House Nursing Care Center in Crawfordsville.

No further information was available.

Wilma S. Smith, 64

DELPHI -- Wilma S. Fultz Smith, 64, of 2096 Illinois St., died at 8:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at Home Hospital in Lafayette. She had battled cancer for the past year and was hospitalized for the past two weeks.

Born March 31, 1941, in Tazewell, Tenn., she attended Delphi schools.

Her marriage was to Jack D. Smith on April 26, 1974, in Delphi, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2004.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She and her husband built and ministered their own church in Delphi. She also cared for several senior citizens by doing home health care.

She enjoyed flower gardening.

Surviving are two daughters, Maxine Whitus (husband: Denny) of Lafayette and Elaine Ledman of Delphi; a son, Ed Perry of Delphi; two stepsons, Don Smith (wife: Mary) of Delphi and Doug Smith (wife: Jill) of Raton, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Carolyn McAninch (husband: Marvin) of Burnettsville; six sisters, Diana Floyd (husband: Bob) and Frances Wilson, both of Delphi, Patsy Merrill (husband: Bob) and Renda Cline (husband: Dick), both of Lafayette, Barbara McTigue of Logansport and Brenda Lind (husband: Fred) of Indianapolis; and five brothers, Junior Neil Fultz (wife: Pat) of Arizona, Floyd Fultz (wife: Rita) of Lafayette, Jack Fultz (wife: Jan) and Edward Fultz (wife: Lenor), both of Tennesee, and Eugene Fultz (wife: Carol) of Delphi.

Friends may call 1 hour prior to 11 a.m. funeral Saturday, at Mr. & Mrs. Smith's Church, located on their property at 2096 Illinois St., Delphi, Pastor Kermit Goins officiating. Interment Pleasant Run Cemetery, Carroll County. Surviving is a sister-in-law, Nellie Fultz; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Preceded in death by 1 brother, Albert. Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi in charge of arrangements.

Zedores Stambaugh, 83

COVINGTON -- Zedores E. "Dorie" Stambaugh, 83, of Covington, died at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the John and Betty Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville.

She was born June 6, 1922, in Danville, Ill. A homemaker, she enjoyed playing cards and knitting. She was an Avon representative for more than 30 years.

Her marriage was to John Stambaugh on Dec. 24, 1939. He died Aug. 6, 2001.

Mrs. Stambaugh was a life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, Ill.

Surviving are daughters Pat Livengood of Rockville, Linda Taylor (husband: Stephen) of Haubstadt and Susan Tooley of Evansville; a son, Tom Stambaugh (wife: Becky) of Rockville; and one sister, Marian Heideman (husband: Marlon) of Covington.

Services are Friday in Covington.

Emery M. Bunnell, 87

Emery M. Bunnell, 87, of 106 W. Navajo St., WL, died at 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at his residence.

No further information was available.

Melvin E. Covey, 94

Melvin Earl Covey, 94, of Willard, Ohio, formerly of Lafayette and Crawfordsville, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Hillside Acres Nursing Home in Willard.

Born Feb. 20, 1911, in Fifthian, Ill., he was a 1929 graduate of Covington High School. He was a resident of Crawfordsville from 1948 to 1957 and 1963 to 1997 and had resided in Lafayette from 1957 to 1963. He moved to Willard in 1997.

He married Florence Ogden on June 14, 1935, in Sullivan, and she preceded him in death Oct. 2, 1994.

Mr. Covey was a veteran, serving in the Army from 1933 to 1936.

He worked at Kroger's from 1938 until his retirement in 1973.

Mr. Covey was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville since 1948 and served in various positions for the church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Crawfordsville for 50 years.

He enjoyed playing golf, reading, traveling and walking.

Surviving are four daughters, Maralyn Morgan (husband: George) of Lafayette, Peg Fisher (husband: Ed) of Willard, Nancy Pifher (husband: Steve) of Tiro, Ohio, and Bonnie Awe (husband: Brad) of Evansville; two brothers, Rolland Covey of Fowler and Raymond Covey of Evansville; and two sisters, June Wallace of Lubbock, Texas, and Mildred Chilton of Evansville.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville with Masonic service to follow. Funeral service there 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Phil Collier officiating. Interment with VFW/Legion services at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Surviving are 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

Lucille Goodhart, 83

Lucille Siegler Goodhart, 83, formerly of Lafayette, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, in North Capital, N.H.

She was a 1939 graduate of Jefferson High School and a 1943 graduate of Purdue University.

Mrs. Goodhart worked for Eli Lilly and Co., from 1944 to 1948.

She was a member of North United Methodist Church, Alpha Pi Omega Sorority, Order of Eastern Star North Park Chapter 404 and Daughter of the Nile Shrine. She had also been a volunteer for the American Lung Association and Westview Hospital, where she had served more than 5,000 hours.

Surviving are her husband, John Thomas Goodhart; two sons, Thomas A. Goodhart and William A. Goodhart (wife: Kathy); and a sister, Marian Garton.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Wednesday at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center Washington Park North with O.E.S. service at 7 p.m. today. Funeral service 1 p.m. Wednesday with entombment to follow at WPN cemetery.

Eugene E. Hopkins, 104

Eugene E. Hopkins, 104, of Washington, Ind., died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at Washington Nursing Center. He was the father of a local resident.

Born Jan. 19, 1901, in Loogootee, he was educated in Barr Township and attended Lane Tech High School and Armour Institute of Technology, both in Chicago.

His marriage was to Rose Ella Dober, and she preceded him in death in 1963.

Mr. Hopkins worked as a construction superintendent for Swift and Company and later owned and operated Hopkins Engineering. He had two U.S. patents for concrete design.

He was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening and hunting.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Hopkins Jr. (wife: Mary) of Shelbyville; and three daughters, Margaret Yarnall (husband: Tom) of Lafayette, Cecilia Luebke (husband: Denny) of New Harmony and Frances Hoefling (husband: David) of Washington.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lee Mortuary in Washington, Ind. Funeral service 2:30 p.m. at St. Simon Catholic Church, Father Gordon Mann officiating. Interment St. John Cemetery. Surviving are 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a grandson, Christian Yarnall, 5 brothers and sisters. Memorials may be made to Daviess County Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief.

Mildred L. Sanders, 76

FRANCESVILLE -- Mildred L. Sanders, 76, of Francesville, died at 9:16 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at her residence.

Born July 8, 1929, in Hartford City, she lived most of her life in Medaryville.

Her first marriage was to Lex Hankins on Oct. 7, 1944, in Covington, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1950. She married Eldon D. Sanders Sr. on May 29, 1954, in Winamac, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1996.

Mrs. Sanders and her family formerly owned and operated the IGA Grocery Store, Spot Tavern and Redwood Inn, all in Medaryville.

She was the founder of the American Legion Post 96 Auxiliary in Medaryville. She had also previously been a representative for Avon, Stanley and Mason Shoes.

Mrs. Sanders enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning foods.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley Ann Nail (husband: John) of Oakwood, Ill.; three sons, Larry D. Sanders (wife: Robin) of Francesville and Eldon D. Jr. and Jim D. Sanders, both of Medaryville; four sisters, Mary Jane Meyers of Clinton, Betty Hutts of Gatesville, Texas, Doris Ashby (husband: Kenneth) of Tilton, Ill., and Lucy Mae Bailey (husband: Donald) of Mesa, Ariz.; and two brothers, Leo Loveall and Herbert Loveall (wife: Marvis), both of Tangier.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. services Thursday at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home. Interment White Post Cemetery.

Paul E. Scheetz 81

Paul E. Scheetz, 81, of Lucerne, father of a local resident, died at 11:10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Home Hospital.

Born Jan. 18, 1924, in Grass Creek, he graduated from Lucerne High School in 1942. He married Miriam Brogan on Feb. 20, 1960, in Bellevue, Pa. She survives.

He was a retired meat processor with Wilson's Food. He retired at age 62 and was a territory manager for Oliver Implement Corp. and in recent years he operated his own vending machine route and was know as the "Candy Man."

Mr. Scheetz was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the parish council in Kewanna. He was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus, a member of the Logansport city championship Eagles basketball team in 1943 and 1944 and a World War II Navy veteran. His hobbies were bowling and playing euchre. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and an avid Notre Dame fan. He sang for weddings and funerals.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mary Helene Georgia (husband: Mike) of Green Bay, Wis.; two sons, Paul Eugene Scheetz Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Bernard Scheetz (wife: Patty) of Lafayette; and two sisters, Monica White of Logansport and Eva Colip of Buchanan, Mich.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. with rosary at 8 p.m. today at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center. Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Kewanna, Father Joseph Jacob officiating. military graveside services at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery, Kewanna. Eight grandchildren, Christopher, Megan, Maria and Molly Georgia and Suzanne, Samuel, Sarah and Shannon Scheetz; a sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Scheetz of Lucerne; several nieces and nephews survive. Preceded in death by 4 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandchildren, John Paul Georgia and Sean Scheetz. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, Kewanna.
