Stanley "Stash" L. Bugno
ROCHESTER -- Stanley 'Stash' L. Bugno, 83, of Rochester died Friday at 3:54 p.m. at
Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Joy (James) Bennett of Harlington, Texas; sons
Dr. Craig (Susan) Bugno of Rochester, Curt (Pamela) Bugno of Marlton, N.J.; 12 grandchildren;
sisters, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Theresa and Mary; and brothers, David and Louis.
Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Good Family Funeral Home. Visitation is from 4 to 7
p.m. Thursday and an hour prior to his services. Burial will be at Rochester’s IOOF cemetery.
Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Manitou VFW Post and the LeRoy Shelton
American Legion Post.

Charles Lee Shoemaker
MENTONE -- Charles Lee Shoemaker of 7593 West 600 South, Mentone, died at 1:45 a.m.
Friday Nov. 11, 2011 at the age of 91. Charles was born July 8, 1920 in Burket to Ted and Ruth
(Jones) Shoemaker. He married Pauline May Middaugh of Argos, Feb. 14, 1942 she survives.
He lived in the Burket community most of his life. He was a WWII veteran and entered the Army
in October of 1942. He had six months of schooling at Camp Campbell, Ky. Then was sent
overseas six months to Bath, England. Six months before D-Day they entered Normandy Beach
Head, France and went through five countries in Europe. He received five Bronze Battle Stars
and many ribbons. He received his Honorable Discharge in October, 1945.
Charles owned and operated Shoemaker’s Aluminum for 30 years. He and his wife Pauline
spent 26 winters going to Florida. He loved fishing, but his first love was farming.
He is survived by his wife Pauline Shoemaker of Mentone, and one brother Howard and wife
Berniece Shoemaker of Roann. He was preceded in death by, his mother Ruth Shoemaker who
died Jan. 30, 1936, his father Sheldon (Ted) Shoemaker who died Nov. 10, 1970. Two brothers
Kenneth Shoemaker, Mentone who died July 14, 1999 and James Shoemaker, Roann who died
April 5, 1986.
Services for Charles Lee Shoemaker will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday Nov. 14, 2011 at King
Memorial Home 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Rev. Gary Loy officiating. Burial will take place
in the Palestine cemetery where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the American
Legion and VFW Posts of Warsaw. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday Nov. 13, 2011 at
King Memorial Home. Memorials can be made to the Burket United Methodist
Church or the Burket Fire Department.

Madeline J. "Snookie" Tessner
GROVERTOWN -- Madeline J. 'Snookie' Tessner, 69, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 in
Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson.
Survivors include two sons, David (Julie) Tessner Jr. of Koontz Lake and Donald (Peggy)
Tessner of Knox; one daughter, Pam Singleton of Knox; seven grandchildren; two great granddaughters
and two brothers Don and Fred Sobieck.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. CST in Rannells Funeral Home,
Hamlet Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
and Wednesday after 9 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be given to the Starke County Humane Society.

Theola I. Atkins
PLYMOUTH -- Theola I. Atkins, 93, of Plymouth, passed away at 10:24 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13,
2011, at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, in Mishawaka.
Theola was born June 10, 1918, in Detroit, Mich., to Orlando and Marion (MacDonald) Bryce.
Aug. 17, 1940, Theola married Robert 'Bob' Atkins in Detroit, Mich. Bob passed away Sept. 13,
2001, after 61 years of marriage. Theola had been a member of the Plymouth Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1952. She was a homemaker, mother of three children, and worked
at J.C. Penney, Company, in Plymouth.
Theola is survived by her daughter, Lynette (Larry) Rusk of South Bend; her sons, Don (Rhonda)
Atkins of Bradenton, Fla. and Tom (Linda) Atkins of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by
her husband, Robert; her grandson, David Atkins (1999); her brother, Neil John Bryce (1924);
and her great-grandson, Braden Rusk (2006).
Memorials may be made to: Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses

Ronald E. Natalie
PLYMOUTH -- Ronald E. Natalie, 75, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 13,
2011 with his family by his side. He was born July 2, 1936 in Clinton to Edith (Natalie) Holbert.
Ron was a graduate of Clinton High School and attended Wabash College and Indiana State
University. He was employed as a supervisor at National Steel where he worked for 31 years
retiring in 1992. Ron was a member of the Elks Lodge in Plymouth and Marshall County Bass
Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and he loved sports especially the Cubs,
Bears and Notre Dame. Most of all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was
always quick with an anecdote and was a master storyteller.
June 4, 1955 in Clinton, he married Carolyn Hawkins who survives along with four children: Russ
E. (Cynthia) Natalie, Rhonda (Mark) Forney, Risa Fadell and Rose (Jim) Budd all of Valparaiso,
eight grandchildren: Rob, Sarah, Jennifer, Scott, Russ Jr., Elizabeth, Matthew and Emily and five
great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ron was preceded in
death by his mother and stepfather Max Holbert.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. with Chaplain Craig Forwalter
officiating at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso. Visitation will be held
Saturday from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions can be made to VNA Hospice of Porter Co. or American Cancer Society.

Colleen J. Ridenour
LIGONIER -- Colleen J. Ridenour, 76 of Ligonier, formerly of this area died Sunday, Nov. 13,
2011 at 12:35 a.m. in Unity Medical & Surgical Hospital of Mishawaka.
She is survived by her children; Fredric E. (Rebecca) Hossler of Dodgeville, Wis., Carmen L.
(Sheridan) Terry of Ligonier, Michele Souther of Marion, and Margaret (Terry) Allen of Gas City;
14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and brother, Larry Hossler
of Wolf Lake.
Visiation will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. in Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115
S. Main St., Bourbon.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Deaton-Clemens Funeral
Home.
Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Association.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.

Bethel Myrtle Huber
BREMEN -- Bethel Myrtle Huber, 89, of Bremen passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 at the
Hospice House of South Bend. She was born Aug. 1, 1922 in Bremen to John and Inez
(Frenger) Edel. Nov. 8, 1941 she married Kenneth Huber, he preceded her in death Dec. 2,
2010.
Bethel graduated from Bremen High School in 1940 and went on to cook for the Bremen
Schools for many years. She attended Bremen First United Church of Christ. She loved her
family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school functions.
Survivors include two sons: Ted (Maureen) Huber of Newburgh, Marty (Connie) Huber of
Bremen, two daughters: Kathy (Gary) Heller of Bremen and Susan (Dwayne) Gooch of Bremen,
grandchildren: Kelly (Keith) Paige of Boonville, Dan (Brooke) Huber of Indianapolis, Missi (Rob)
Coffel of Bremen, Tod Jones of Midland, Ohio, Deron (Holly) Heller of Bremen, Chris (Jamie)
Lucas of Bremen, Julie (Ian) Nelson of South Bend, Carrie Gooch of Los Angeles, Calif., Lindsey
Huber of Indianapolis, Mitchel Huber of Chicago, Ill., 17 great-grandchildren, five sisters: Marcia
Corl of Syracuse, Mary Aker of Plymouth, Vivian Walker of South Bend, Charlotte Edel and
Loma Snyder, both of Bremen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters: Jane, Alma and Joan, five brothers:
Bob, Lawrence, Dale, Stanley and Armond.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at the First United Church of
Christ in Bremen and will be officiated by Pastor Tom Dean. Burial will follow at the Bremen
cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at the Mishler Funeral Home in
Bremen.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bremen High School Athletic Fund.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Laron Kyle Joseph Slaybaugh
ROCHESTER -- Laron Kyle Joseph Slaybaugh, 28, of 4940 Eastwood Lane, Rochester died at
11:59 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, 2011 unexpectedly at Woodlawn Hospital.
He is survived by his father, Donald Slaybaugh of Rochester; and a brother, Christopher
Slaybaugh of Rochester.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and one hour prior to the service in the
funeral home.
Interment at Citizens cemetery Rochester.

Earl Gerald Weidner
PLYMOUTH -- Earl Gerald Weidner, 82, a lifelong Marshall County resident, died at 6:30 a.m.
Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in Atria Tanglewood Trace Assisted Living, Mishawaka.
Born in Argos, July 27, 1929, Earl was the son of Charles Henry and Clara Hartman Weidner.
He graduated from Argos High School with the class of 1947, and served as a sergeant in the
Army in the Korean War.
June 6, 1953, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth, Earl and Lois Jean Umbaugh
were married .
Earl worked as a plant manager for many years with Pilgrim Farms.
A devoted husband and family man, he is survived by his six children.
They are: Kevin D. and Carolyn Weidner of Glendale, Ariz.: Karen E. Prebys of Greenwood:
Kathleen A. and Ken Thomas of Chesapeake, Va. Karol L. Weidner Chesapeake, Va, also
survives together with Karla J. and Fred Malecki of Granger, and Keith and Jill Weidner of South
Bend.
Six beloved grandchildren survive as well: Christy, Kelly, Ryan, Joshua, Jordan and Alyssa.
He is also survived by his brother, Charles T. Weidner, Naples, Fla.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, and their son, Kerry S. Weidner.
Earl enjoyed sports and working crossword puzzles.
He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the VFW Post 1162 and, formerly, the Moose
Lodge.
Friends will be welcomed by the family to celebrate the life of Earl Weidner Wednesday, Nov. 16,
2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov.
17, 2011. The Rev. Father William Kummer will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside services conducted by the Plymouth American Legion, VFW and
DAV, with a South Bend Honor Guard, will be held in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Earl’s memory may be given to St. Michael Catholic Church or to the school.

Velva D. Grossman
WALKERTON -- Velva D. Grossman, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 in Golden Living Center Fountainview
Terrace, LaPorte.
Survivors include one son, Richard (Val) Grossman of Walkerton; two grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; her twin, Jewel Dishman and sisters, Barbara Potter and Marie Scaia.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at 1 p.m. CST at the Faith Mission Church of
Westville. Burial will be at the Maplewood cemetery, Crown Point. Visitation is Friday at the
church from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be given to the
Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E 91st St. Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830. Rannells Funeral
Home, Koontz Lake Chapel is handling arrangements.

Donna Belle Grossman
ROCHESTER -- Donna Belle Grossman, 84, of Rochester, died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Nov.
15, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
Visitation services will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St.
in Rochester.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra K. Tucker and husband John of Fort Wayne and
Connie Jo Parish of Tipton; three sisters; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton County Cancer Fund or Riverview Community
Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
