Rickey L. Bierly
PLYMOUTH — Rickey L. Bierly, 49, of Plymouth, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his fianceé, Julaine M. High; children: Randi Bierly, Mackenzie High, Kyle
Bierly and Bradley Bierly; eight grandchildren; father, Harold L. Bierly of Gibsontown, Fla.; sister,
Rebecca Bierly of Plymouth; and brothers, Christopher Schalliol of Lakeville and Terry Keck of
Fla.
Visitation took place from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 at Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan
St., Lakeville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Palmer Funeral Home.
Military services will follow.

Robert L. Dickson
Robert L. (Bob) Dickson, 65, passed away at 2:07 p.m. Jan. 15, 2010 at home surrounded by his
loving wife and children.
He was born Dec. 16, 1944 in Plymouth, to the late John and Jennie (Ososki) Dickson. He grew
up in Culver where he married his high school sweetheart, Carmen Gretter. Bob and Carmen
were married Aug. 20, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Culver.
Bob is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carmen Dickson; one son, R. Ryan Dickson and wife
Jamie of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Angie Dickson and husband Joe Loer of Robins Bay
Jamaica, and Jackie Daugherty of West Middleton; four grandchildren, Jessica and Jackson
Daugherty, and Salina and Reed Loer; one brother, Larry Dickson and wife Joan of Demotte.
Bob graduated from Ball State University with a bachelors degree in business, and had a long
career in sales and marketing, retiring in 2006. Bob was a member of the Wildcat Guardians
and a proud founding member of the Last Friday of the Month Club. He was a loving husband
and father who dedicated his life to his wife and three children and gave his time, love and
patience to his grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed canoeing, woodworking, traveling, and was a true master of home projects. He will
always be remembered for his great sense of humor and his willingness to put others before
himself.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Eller Mortuary 3400 S. Webster Street. A
funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church,
3155 S. 200 W. Kokomo.
Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens cemetery.
The family will host a celebration of Bob’s life from 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice or St. Joan of Arc Catholic
Church.

Isaac "Ike" McLiver
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Isaac “Ike” McLiver, 88, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Lee
Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., following a brief illness.
Ike was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Benton Harbor, Mich., to Archibald McLiver and Amy Inez Martin
McLiver. He was the great-great-great-grandson of Fletcher Christian of HMS Bounty Fame. On
Oct. 9, 1948, in Roseland, Ind., he married Annemarie C. Knaak of Cologne, Germany. Ike and
Anne met after WWII, in Germany, while Ike was there with the “Occupation Forces.”
During WWII, he served with Patton’s Army that moved up the boot of Italy until they, along with
other allied forces, occupied Berlin. Ike was awarded the Silver Star in WWII for actions in
combat.
After returning to Michigan, Ike went to work for Kaiser-Frasier Aircraft Company and from there
moved to Clark Equipment Company. He retired from Clark in the late 1970s as maintenance
supervisor for their Buchanan, Mich. plant.
Shortly after his retirement, he founded Yellow Rock Engraving, which he operated until his
death. An avid golfer, he boasted two holes in one. Not to be outdone, Anne later matched his
efforts with two holes in one of her own.
In 1982 Ike and Anne moved their business and retired to Fort Myers, Fla. Square Dancing,
engraving, golfing, telling jokes, and true joy from life, became his Florida passions.
Early in March 2008, following a bout that Anne had with cancer, they moved to Plymouth, Ind.,
to be closer to family. On March 31, 2008, Anne preceded her beloved husband in death.
Ike was preceded in death by, his parents; his wife, Anne; Anne’s parents; his sister and brotherin-law,
Miriam and Arthur McMahan; his brother and sister-in-law, John “Jack” and Jean McLiver;
and his brother, Archie McLiver.
Ike is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Weissbruch and family of Illinois; his brother-in-law
and sister-in-law Karl and Hilda Knaak and their daughters Gabrielle, Annemarie and Ruthie of
Cologne, Germany; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Martin and Katrina Knaak and their
daughter Petra and family of Cologne; his sister-in-law, Martha McLiver of Plymouth; his niece,
Sherrie McLiver Martin and her husband Phillip Martin of Plymouth; his nephew, Dave McLiver
and his wife Julie Hiester McLiver of Plymouth; his nephew, John Borysko and his wife Elizabeth
Borysko of Grosse Point, Mich.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563, was in charge of the
arrangements.
In accordance with Ike’s wishes there will be no services at this time. A family celebration of Ike’s
life will be held at a later date.
The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Heart Association of Marshall
County.

Lois Eileen Monesmith
BOURBON — Lois Eileen Monesmith passed away at Grace Village Jan. 15, 2010, after losing
her battle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 12, 1928 to Lewis and Goldie (McKee) Danner. Lois married Donald James
Monesmith April 25, 1946; he died July 6, 2008.
She is survived by her sons, Don R. (Rex) and Mary Lou (Stoner) Monesmith of Avilla, Ind. and
Dennis J. Monesmith of Claypool. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeffery R. and Amy
(Cardwell) Monesmith of Greenfield, Ind. and Jamie L. Monesmith of Anderson, Ind, and her
great-grandchild Kaitlyn Monesmith of Greenfield, Ind. Her brother Loren and Betty Danner of
Pierceton and her sister Dorothy Ritzenthaler of Tippecanoe also survive her. Lois also had 24
nieces and nephews and also numerous grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald J. Monesmith, four brothers and
five sisters.
Lois was well known in the area as she and her husband owned and operated Monesmith
Catering for many years.
She was affectionately referred to as “Mom” by many in her business circle as well as her sons.
Her culinary skills, especially her pies, will be missed by the many who knew her.
Lovingly devoted to her family she made all things possible for all of them. She was also a
member of the Hoosier Old Wheels car club.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19 in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral
Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon, with a grave side service following at 1 p.m. in the Pleasant Hill
cemetery at Bourbon, Ind.
The family would welcome memorial contributions to Feed the Children in her memory, in lieu of
flowers.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home was entrusted with local arrangements.

Elizabeth Alene Murdock
HARMONY, Pa. — Elizabeth Alene Murdock, 90, of Harmony, Pa., formerly of Nappanee, died
Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Evergreen Nursing Center.
She is survived by a sister, Agnes (R. Edwin) Green of Plano, Texas and several nieces and
nephews.
Visitation will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder
Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at Living Gospel Church.
Burial will follow at Mississenea #96 IOOF cemetery, Marion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Gospel Church.

Rhonda Faye (Seymour) Noah-Sayers
WALKERTON — Rhonda Faye Noah-Sayers (Seymour), 47, passed away Friday, Jan. 15,
2010 in her home.
Rhonda was born Feb. 9, 1962 in Wabasha, Minn. to Dall and Charlotte (Knowles) Noah. She
was a registered nurse at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend and a member of the
Menominee Muzzleloaders of Culver, ABATE of Indiana, the Grovertown Conservation Club, the
Walkerton American Legion Auxiliary and the American Legion Riders of Kingsford Heights.
Survivors include: two children, Christopher Noah-Sayers and Caitlin Noah-Sayers, both at
home; her parents, Dall and Charlotte Noah of Grovertown; her significant other, Jerry Seymour
Jr. of Walkerton; two brothers, Brent Noah of Columbus, Ga. and Wayne (Rhonda) Noah of Toto
and one sister, Tammie (Ron) Singleton of Knox.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. (EST) Tuesday, Jan. 19 and Wednesday one hour prior to the
service at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. (EST) Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Sayers Memorial Education Fund at any Teachers
Credit Union.

Louis John Petty
FORT WAYNE – Former Marshall County resident, Louis John Petty, 82, died unexpectedly at
his Fort Wayne residence at 7:45 pm. Friday, Jan. 15, 2010.
John, formerly of LaPaz, has resided in Fort Wayne for more than 40 years. John was born in
LaPaz Nov. 22, 1927, the son of George W. and Viola Mae (Mummey) Petty. He attended LaPaz
schools and then worked with his father for the B&O Railroad at an early age.
Following the death of his parents he was raised by his grandparents, John and Martha
Mummey. There he also attended the LaPaz Church of God.
On Feb. 1, 1946 he joined the Army and served in the Philippines - Pacific Theater during WWII.
Following the war he took a job with Heat Treat in South Bend and later transferred to Ft. Wayne.
John enjoyed the company of his pet cats, following baseball and could easily argue politics. He
was a life member of the Plymouth VFW Post 1162 and the Bourbon American Legion Post 424.
Survivors include his sister, Betty J. and Leo Robert Bocko Sr. of Bourbon; along with nieces:
Jane A. Hartung, Linda M. (Sherman) Stevens of Bourbon, Patricia K. (Richard) McGriff of
Wurika, Ok. and Carol A. (Gary) Buday of Stigler, Ok.; and nephews: Leo K. (Donna) Bocko of
Bourbon, James A. (Christine) Bocko of Wyatt, and Robert L. (Krista) Bocko of Noblesville.
Many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 21 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, where services will be conducted at noon under the
direction of Rev. Mark Day, pastor of the Bourbon First United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in the Fair cemetery, North Liberty, with military graveside honors.
Memorial gifts may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 204 N. Washington St.,
Bourbon, IN, 46504.

Louise E. Metts
HANNA — Louise E. Metts, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 in Golden Living Center,
Fountainview Terrace, LaPorte.
She is survived by a son, James (Judy) Metts of Hanna; three daughters: Linda (Dean) Wright of
LaPorte, Rebecca (Edward) Hildreth of Union Mills and Donna (George) Deutscher of Rolling
Prairie; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Hicks of Siloam, N.C.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, Jan. 19 and Wednesday one hour prior
to the funeral service at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Hanna cemetery.

William Eugene "Curly" Baker
ROCHESTER — William Eugene “Curly” Baker, 82, of Rochester, died at 11:58 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 17, 2010 at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He is survived by special friend Wilma June Hart; son, Mickey (Connie) Baker of Rochester;
three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Conwell of Rochester and Betty
(Bob) Alderfer of Yuba City, Calif.; brother, Kenny (Jean) Baker of Rochester; sister-in-law,
Nancy Baker of Rochester and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 at the Good Family Funeral
Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester and one hour prior to services Thursday.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21 at the funeral home. Burial will
follow at Richland Center, cemetery.

Willard D. Higgins
WARSAW — Willard D. Higgins, 83, of Warsaw, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 in
Kosciusko Community Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Betty; children: Patrick (Kristi) Higgins of Warsaw, Paula (Bob) Blyth of
Rolling Meadows, Ill., Meri (Fred) Jessup of Goshen and Melana (Dave) Smith of Rochester; 11
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home,
115 S. Main St. Bourbon and an hour before services Wednesday.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20 in the Calvary Baptist Church,
Oswego.
Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Warsaw.
