Shere Lynn Butterfield
WESTVILLE — Shere Lynn Butterfield, 52, of Plymouth, passed away unexpectedly Friday,
March 19, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
She was born Aug. 4, 1957 to Gerald and Eva Hood. She grew up in Valparaiso and graduated
from Ivy Tech in 1995 with her LPN, and from Bethel College in 2002 with her RN.
She was employed at Sanctuary at St. Joseph’s in South Bend. She was fun-loving and
outgoing. Friends and family will remember Shere for her contagious laugh and her giving heart.
She gave the ultimate gift of a complete organ donation.
Shere will be missed by all.
She is survived by her mother, Eva Hood; sons: Danny, Brian (Aimee) and Jason (Sharalee)
Falls; sisters, Christine (Ed) Hines and Katherine (Mark) Fischer; six grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
Shere was preceded in death by Joe Butterfield and her father, Gerald Hood.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 26 at Newhard Funeral Home, 58 W.
Walnut St., Westville, IN, 46391 with Pastor Joe Wittmer officiating.

Christina Carolyn Kovacs
ARGOS — Christina Carolyn Kovacs, east Williams Street, Argos, died in Pilgrim Manor,
Plymouth, at 7:40 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, three days after her 82nd birthday.
She was born in Culver in 1928, the daughter of Francis Victor and Elizabeth Carmen Dixon
Kovacs. She was a Marshall County resident all of her life, graduating from Culver High School.
An expert housekeeper, she worked for the Holiday Inn in Plymouth for more than 25 years.
Christina is survived by two daughters and a son. They are Rose Hattery, Argos; Katherine
(Leonard) Hess, Plymouth; and Terry (Beverly) Kovacs, also of Plymouth.
A sister, Sue (Glenn) Swift of Marcellus, Mich. and a brother, Matt (Rosemary) Kovacs of North
Judson, together with grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews
survive as well.
Nine grandchildren survive. They are: Rich (Shelly) Kovacs, Troy (Heather) Hess, Amber (Jade)
Buchanan, Jason Hattery, James (Gail) Hattery, Buffy (Shawn) Speirs, Donny (Haley) Hattery,
Andy (Casey) Kovacs and Terry Kovacs.
Her great-grandchildren are: Levi, Cassidy, Tyler, Dylan, Brandon, Courtney, Joey, Samantha,
Eric, Damon, Guner, Cody, Haley, Sadie, Dylan, Zaley, Quincy and Jezzy.
Christina’s parents preceded her in death together with four brothers and a sister. They are:
Robert, Carl, Don and Francis Kovacs and Ruth Ann Vermillion.
Friends and family will be welcomed to celebrate Christina’s life from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March
23 at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Todd Kauffman
pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church, Rochester will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Burr Oak cemetery.
Memorial gifts in Christina’s name may be given to her family.
Letters of condolence and the sharing of memories may be sent to the family via the funeral

Monica Sue Leeper
INDIANAPOLIS — Monica Sue Leeper, 39, of Indianapolis, formerly of Bremen, died Friday,
March 19, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She is survived by her parents, Dennis and Cindy Leeper of Bremen.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24 at the Mishler Funeral
Home, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the donor’s choice.

Gregory L. McMillen
ROCHESTER — Gregory L. McMillen, 54, of Rochester, died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, March 19,
2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife Lisa; a daughter, Melea McMillen of Rochester; a son, Garrett
McMillen of Rochester; his mother and step-father, Carolyn and Bruce Hodgson of Cadillac,
Mich.; his father and step-mother, Gary and Donna McMillen of Evart, Mich.; sisters: Cheryl
McMillen of Falls Church, Va., Jazanne McMillen of Gallatin Gateway, Mont., June (Jim) Mitchell
of Evart, Mich., Margaret (Dave) Westmaas of Marion, Mich., Deb (Dennis) Bryant of Evart,
Mich.; brothers: Mitchell (Lisa) McMillen of New Milford, Conn., Jon McMillen of Huntsville, Ala.,
Bill Flachs of Evart, Mich., Chuck (Karen) Flachs of Evart, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Susie (Barry)
See of Twelve Mile; and a brother-in-law, Klise (Ginny) Savage of Kewanna.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday March 21, and one hour prior to services
Monday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, March 22 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hope Hospice of Fulton County.

Emma Lou Bollenbacher
PLYMOUTH – Emma Lou Bollenbacher, 84, of 408 E. Washington St., Plymouth, died at 12:50
p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Emma Lou was born in Plymouth the daughter of Jesse and Esther L. Wright Menser Jan. 6,
1926. She was a lifelong resident of Marshall County.
She attended high school in Plymouth and Sept. 4, 1948 was married to Paul K. Bollenbacher in
the First United Church of Christ. Paul died Aug. 6, 1952.
A factory assembly worker at Hehr International for 21-and-a-half years, she retired in 2003.
In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting.
She was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ.
Emma Lou is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul K. and Diane M. Bollenbacher. A
grandson, Edward Andrew “Andy” Bollenbacher also survives together with two sisters and a
brother. They are: Marjorie L. Kowalski, Barbara A. Pentelow and Howard Menser, all of
Plymouth.
Emma Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Harry L. and
C. Burdell “Bud” Menser.
Friends are invited to celebrate the life of Emma Lou from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at
the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Emma Lou will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 25, with calling one hour
prior to services at the First United Church of Christ 321 N. Center St. Plymouth. The Rev. Robin
Keating will officiate.
Interment will be in the Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts may be made to the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St. Plymouth.

Helen J. Montgomery
PLYMOUTH — Helen J. Montgomery, 85, a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home,
Plymouth, formerly of Bourbon, passed away at 5:15 p.m. Monday, March, 22, 2010.
Helen was born the daughter of Walter Ray and Elva Corl Berkeypile Heckaman May 22, 1924 in
Bourbon. She had been a resident of Bourbon most of her life. She was a retired cook and
waitress, a member of the Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary Post #424, and a graduate of
Bourbon High School’s class of 1942.
Helen married Lewis Montgomery Dec. 26, 1946; he passed away Dec. 21, 1968.
She is survived by three daughters: Ms. Karen Frick of Warsaw; Betty and husband Danny
Hawthorne of Navarre, Ohio, and Pamela and husband Tim Loftus of Granger; and her three
step-children: Gary and wife Norma Montgomery of Bourbon, Mike and wife Susan Montgomery
and June McCorkle, all of Warsaw. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren: Brian Lewis
McGuigan, Kimberly Jane Shellenbarger, Jeffrey Dice, Stephanie Baltzer, Jennifer Curati,
Danielle Temple, Eric Hawthorne, David Loftus, Chris Loftus, Carrie Loftus, and Tim Loftus,
along with 23 great-grandchildren.
She was further blessed with four sisters: Faye and husband Charles King of Bourbon, Lois and
husband Morris Roahrig of Plymouth, Bonnie Craig of Nappanee, Joyce Overmyer of Rochester;
and her two brothers, Roscoe and wife Mary Heckaman of Argos and Leroy and wife Marjorie
Heckaman of Bourbon.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Thomas McGuigan.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25 at Deaton-Clemens Funeral
Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 26 at the funeral home with
Rev. Mark A. Day officiating.
Burial will be in Etna Green cemetery, Etna Green.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Phyllis F. Munson
PLYMOUTH — Phyllis F. Munson, 91, of Plymouth, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010,
at Pilgrim Manor.
She was born Oct. 12, 1918 in Disko, Ind., to Orvan and Vera (Martin) Floor.
Jan. 29, 1938 she married Raymond Munson in Plymouth and became a homemaker.
Phyllis lived most of her life in Kosciusko County and lived the last four years in Plymouth. She
was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw.
She made beautiful calendars with sequins and beads and loved to cook and bake for people.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Munson of Plymouth; three grandchildren: Rev. Keith
(Tamara) Munson of Georgia, Tammi (Steve) Belrose and Connie Goodwin, all of Lufkin, Texas;
three great-grandchildren: Quincey, Cameron and Evarose; and one sister, Martha Howard of
Lakeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond (Feb. 8, 1982); two sons, Richard Munson
(1983) and Michael Munson (1982); six sisters: Francis Arnold, Pauline Floor, Jeanette Smarz,
Norma Barr, Cleo Hall, Gladys Gaff; and three brothers: Orvan Floor Jr., James Floor and
Marion Floor.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 25 at the United Pentecostal
Church, Warsaw.
Funeral services will take place at noon Thursday at the church with Pastor Dan Cox officiating.
Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Patricia Sue Pontious
ROCHESTER — Patricia Sue “Patty” Pontious, 61, of 554 W. 200 North, Rochester, passed
away at 1:02 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
She was born Oct. 12, 1948 in Argos, the daughter of Charles and Lila (Pomeroy) Parrish. Feb.
25, 1967 in Argos, she married David L. Pontious; he survives.
Mrs. Pontious was Activities Director at Hickory Creek of Rochester. She was a member of the
First Assembly of God Church, Rochester, where she was active with the Women’s Ministry, and
had been a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed eating out with her husband, spending
time with her family, helping others and will be remembered for her dedicated service to the
residents of Hickory Creek.
Survivors include her husband, David L. Pontious of Rochester; son, Derek and wife Karen
Pontious of Rochester; grandchildren: Elizabeth and husband Devin McFarland of San Angelo,
Texas, Justin Pontious of Westville, Sierra Pontious of Rochester; her mother, Lila Parrish of
Argos; sisters, Judith and husband Norman Crouch of Plymouth, and Michelle and husband
Bruce Cook of Beckley, W.V.; and brother, Michael and wife Lori Parrish of Argos.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 25 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home,
Rochester, and one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the First Assembly of
God Church, Rochester, with the Rev. Daniel Davidson officiating.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows cemetery, Rochester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church or the American
Cancer Society.

MUNCIE — A. Joyce Siefert, 80, of Muncie, died Monday, March 22, 2010.
She is survived by her children: Janice (Charles) Leiphart of Muncie, Jill (Mike) McDaniel of
Muncie, James (Karen) Siefert of Muncie, Johnna (Steve) Ramer of Plymouth, Jane (Jim)
Venegas of Tinley Park, Ill., Joy Shieffield of Muncie, Jeff (Anita) Siefert of West Liberty, Ohio,
Jean Kutter of Sweetzer, John Paul (Julie) Siefert of Lithia, Fla., Joleen (Kevin) Knotts of
Connersville, and Jaret (Chris Liner) Siefert of Dalton, Ga.; 30 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 25 at Meeks Mortuary, 415 E.
Washington St., Muncie.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26 at the funeral home.

Elizabeth J. Stuckman
NAPPANEE — Elizabeth J. Stuckman, 102, Nappanee, died Monday, March 22, 2010 at 4:30
p.m. at LuAnn Nursing Home.
She is survived by her daughter, Jahala Kay Robie of Nappanee; two grandsons; three great grandchildren;
and sisters, Esther Helmke of Fort Wayne and Mary Lois Radcliffe of Fort Wayne.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 11 at Rosehill cemetery, Albion.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nappanee Public Library. Thompson-Lengacher &
Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee, is handling arrangements.

Rickey D. Willard
ROCHESTER — Rickey D. Willard, 62, of Rochester, died at 8:02 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2010
at Woodlawn Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Alice; and daughter, Amanda Lynn Rene Maris of Kewanna.
Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester.
Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
