Kendora R. Furr, 38

REMINGTON -- Kendora R. Furr, 38, of Remington, was killed in an armed robbery in Remington at the Family Express at 11:01 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2005.

She was born May 10, 1967, in Lafayette and graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1985.

Her marriage was to Donald E. Furr on Sept. 12, 1987, in Lafayette. They later divorced. Her companion, Daniel Krueger, of Remington survives.

She was the manager of the Family Express and had worked for the company for six years. Previously, she worked at Wabash National and for the T-Mart (Traveler's Mart) in Wolcott for many years.

She liked to play Playstation games.

Surviving with her ex-husband are their daughters, Deneaâ Selena and Rheanna Furr; her mother, Rosie Cranford of Lafayette, and three brothers, Dean Lucas (wife: Valarie) of Dayton, Kenny Lucas (wife: Deborah) of Brookston and Terry Lucas (fiancee: Missy) of Francesville.

J. Quackenbush Jr., 47

MONTICELLO -- James W. Quackenbush Jr., 47, of Monticello, died at 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, in the home of his parents.

He was born May 11, 1958, in Fayetteville, N.C., and was a 1976 graduate of Twin Lakes High School.

Mr. Quackenbush worked maintenance at Indiana Beach for more than 25 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Stacie R. Ewing (husband: Trent) of Lafayette and Lindsay Quackenbush of Hamilton, Ohio; his parents, James W. Quackenbush and Marjorie Cauble Quackenbush of Monticello; and two sisters, Alicia Wright (husband: Jim) and Liz Oilar (husband: Tom), both of Monticello.

Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with service there at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, Pastor Keith Raderstorf officiating. Interment Riverview IOOF Cemetery. Surviving are grandmother, Inez Cauble of Monticello. Preceded in death by a brother, Joseph W. Quackenbush. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Jeanne A. Rawles, 80

Richard L. Rawles, 80

Richard Leslie Rawles, 80, died May 21, 2005, in Tucson, Ariz. His wife, Jeanne Alice Anson Rawles, 80, died Aug. 31, 2005, also in Tucson.

He was born Nov. 15, 1924, and she was born Oct. 2, 1924, both in Lafayette. Mr. Rawles graduated from Purdue University and served in the Army during World War II.

Mrs. Rawles graduated from Home Hospital Nursing School and was a registered nurse.

They lived on her family farm in Tippecanoe Township where he farmed and she worked at the Indiana Veterans' Home. In 1964, they moved to Tucson. He worked at the University of Arizona and she was employed at St. Mary's Hospital.

For more than 40 years, they were active in St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Tucson. They also were ardent fans of University of Arizona basketball.

They are survived by a son, Stan Rawles of Tucson, and a daughter, Julie Rawles of Phoenix. He has two surviving sisters, Eleanor Rawles and Mary Ann Briggs, both of Indianapolis; and Mrs. Rawles has a sister, Donna Smith of Shreveport, La.

Memorial services for them were in Tucson.

Surviving are 2 grandson, Everett and Ethan van Aller of Phoenix; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations in their name to St. Mark's UMC, 1431 W. Magee Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.

Evelyn G. Talbott, 89

DELPHI -- Evelyn Geneva Davis Talbott, 89, a resident of St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi, died there at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005.

Born Feb. 27, 1916, in Madison, Ind., she lived there for more than 70 years. A 1934 graduate of Marion High School, she attended Marion Business College. She moved to Avon Park, Fla., in 1988, then back to Delphi in 2003.

Mrs. Talbott was acting postmaster at the Marion Veterans' Hospital during World War II, and later was administrative secretary to the social services director at the hospital, retiring in 1971 after 35 years in government service. She received numerous awards and commendations for her work.

She was very active in Girl Scouts for many years in the Marion and Kokomo District camps, and was Marion's camp director for several years. She was past president and a board member of the Veterans' Administration Credit Union.

While living in Marion, she was a member of the Home Park Methodist Church and later became a member of the Avon Park Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir.

Her marriage was to James C. Talbott on May 29, 1936, in Marion. He preceded her in death on April 8, 1985.

She and her daughter, Judy, owned and operated the Kids Korral in Delphi for several years.

Mrs. Talbott enjoyed playing golf and was past president and member of the Pinecrest Ladies Golf Association in Avon Park. While in Florida, she became active in the Highlands County National Association of Retired Federal Employees and served as its president and state convention delegate for several years. She also was a typist for the Highlands County Alzheimer's Association.

Surviving is a daughter, Judy Conner (husband: Robert) of Delphi.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. today at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi, with funeral there at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Kelly Furlong officiating. Interment Grant Memorial Park in Marion. Surviving are 2 grandchildren, Kevin and Gayle Conner; Kimberly and Keith Rishel of Delphi; 9 great-grandchildren, Kolin, Keaton and Jamison Conner; Ashlee, Abbee, Andrew, Allee, and Allbanee Flora; Madison Rishel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center walking path or the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Ladies Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Harold E. Willner, 97

CHALMERS -- Harold E. Willner, 97, of Chalmers, formerly of Jacksonville, Ill., died at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, in St. Claire Hospital in Crawfordsville.

He was born June 15, 1908, in Jacksonville and lived there all of his life until moving to Chalmers 12 years ago.

Mr. Willner was retired from the Illinois School for the Blind where he worked as a custodian. He also worked various jobs throughout his life doing electrical, plumbing and carpentry work.

He liked to play pinochle and solitaire.

Mr. Willner was a member of Our Redeemer Church in Jacksonville and had attended St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds the past 10 years.

Surviving are his daughter, Anna M. Humphrey (husband: Dick) of Wolcott; and two sons, Harold E. Willner Jr. (wife: Sue) of Quincy, Ill., and James C. Willner (wife: Brenda) of Wolcott.

Friends may call tonight, Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, 5-7 p.m. at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, Brookston, and also Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, from 5-7 p.m. at Williamson Funeral Home, 1405 Lincoln Ave., Jacksonville, Ill., with service there at 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Surviving are 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 24 nieces and nephews. He was a Happy-go-lucky person with an infectious smile. Everyone he knew loved him. Preceding him in death are the children's mother Dorothy; his parents, Carl & Anna Willner; 3 brothers, Paul, Clarence and Frank Willner, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Alexander and Frieda Oettle.

Helen A. Woerner, 82

Helen A. Woerner, 82, of West Lafayette, died at 12:55 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at George Davis Manor.

She was born in her home near Stockwell on July 7, 1923, and lived there until moving to West Lafayette in 1951. She graduated from Stockwell High School in 1942 and received a bachelor's degree in education from Ball State University in 1946.

Mrs. Woerner taught school at Chalmers High School in White County, and most recently, was a homemaker.

Her marriage was to Robert N. Woerner on June 23, 1951, at the Stockwell Methodist Church. He survives.

She was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in West Lafayette and Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Her hobbies included gardening, travel and sewing.

Surviving with her husband are three sons, David Woerner (wife: Mary Ann) of Nashville, Ind., John Woerner (wife: Marsha) of Bradenton, Fla., and Brian Woerner (wife: Cathy) of Morgantown, W.Va.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with service there at 10 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Tim Burchill officiating. Private interment. Surviving are a son-in-law, Stuart Averett of Kingwood, Texas, 8 grandchildren, Aaron and Emily Averett, and Rob, Caitlyn, Michael, Amelia, Stephen and Teri Woerner. Preceded by parents, Glenn and Hazel Greenwood Wehr, a daughter, Janet Averett, a brother, John Wehr. Memorials to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Diabetes. Association or Mental Health Association.

Michael Zachariah, 48

Michael Zachariah, 48, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, of a heart attack while mountain biking.

He was born Feb. 14, 1957, and lived in Monument, Colo.

Mr. Zachariah was a design engineer for Intel in Colorado Springs. He enjoyed outdoor activities.

Surviving are his wife, Lou Ann Deckard Zachariah of Monument; two daughters, Sara and Anna; his mother, Rita, and a brother, Steve, both of Lafayette.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, or charity of choice.

HICKMAN, Robin E.

Robin Elizabeth Hickman, local resident of Owasso, Oklahoma, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at the age of 41 years. She was born Nov. 17, 1963, at Danville, Illinois, to Sidney and Janet (Layden) Payne. She completed her secondary education in Oxford, Indiana, graduating from the Benton Central High School Class of 1982. She continued her education at Purdue University graduating with a BA in Retail Management. She was married Dec. 27, 1986, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Robert Hickman. She spent most of her working life as a sales associate with Standard Register in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She had made her home in Owasso since November 1991. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including running and most of all her children.

Gladys M. Anthrop, 93

Gladys M. Sabens Anthrop, 93, formerly of West Lafayette, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Miller's Merry Manor in Plymouth.

Born Dec. 12, 1911, in Glenarm, Ill., she lived in West Lafayette before moving to Plymouth six years ago.

She married Henry C. Anthrop on June 15, 1933, in Lafayette, and he died Feb. 8, 1992. They farmed near Linden for many years. After retiring in 1970, they moved to Romney and lived there until moving to West Lafayette.

Mrs. Anthrop had been a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette and the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette.

Surviving is a daughter, Virginia A. Benefiel (husband: Richard) of Plymouth.

Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Father Mike McKinley officiating. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery. Surviving are 3 grandchildren, Paula K. Neidlinger (husband: Mike) David R. Benefiel, both of Plymouth, and John G. Benefiel (wife: Barbara) of Lafayette; and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 brothers.
