Stanley J. Hawblitzel
NILES, Mich. -- Stanley J. Hawblitzel, 97, of Niles, Mich. (formerly of Argos and South Bend)
passed away at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Your Home Assisted Living in South Bend.
He was born Jan. 21, 1913 to the late Elmer and Daisy (Whitmer) Hawblitzel in South Bend, and
has lived in Niles, Mich. since 2006, coming from Argos. Along with his parents; two sisters,
Audrey Tilden and Marie Baughman; and two brothers, Kenneth and William Hawblitzel also
preceded him in death.
Mr. Hawblitzel retired in 1978 from Allied Signal, where he worked as a Metal Finisher. Prior to
that, he worked at Studebaker’s.
On Dec. 26, 1933, he married Helen E. Penkala in South Bend. She died July 27, 1972.
He is survived by four daughters: Shirley Anderson of Dunedin, FL, Audrey (Robert) Snider of
Niles, Mich., Beverly (Bennett) Querry of Kokomo, Betty (Gary) Ikuma of Springfield, Va.; four
sons, Donald (Nancy) Hawblitzel of Orlando, Fla., Eugene (Marilyn) Hawblitzel of Floral City, Fla.,
John (Kathy) Hawblitzel of Alma, Ark., Kenneth Hawblitzel of Bakersfield, Calif; eighteen
grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
Stanley attended Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend. He was mechanically inclined and loved
fixing things. Stanley also enjoyed gardening and remodeling homes.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 5 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday April 5 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, South
Bend, with Pastor Reed Anderstrom officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn cemetery.

New Paris, IN 46553.

Dorothy Louise Peterson
BREMEN -- Dorothy Louise Peterson, 98, of Bremen, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at her
residence.
She is survived by many friends.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 11 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 12 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen.

Donna Marie Whittaker
PLYMOUTH -- Donna Marie Whittaker, 77, a lifetime Plymouth resident, passed away at 11:12
a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 due to natural causes.
Donna was born in Plymouth Sept. 2, 1932, the daughter of Otis M. and Helen Leona (Roose)
Brundage. She graduated from Plymouth’s Lincoln High School in 1951.
On Easter Sunday, April 13, 1952 she and Myron LaVerne Whittaker were married in the
Plymouth Church of the Brethren, then located downtown. Over the next 58 years, side by side,
they raised five children and witnessed the bearing of six grandsons, six granddaughters, two
great-grandsons and two great granddaughters.
Her children include: Pamela K. Thomas, Vicky S. (David) Rich, Roger L. (Cindy) Whittaker,
David L. (Janis) Whittaker all of Plymouth, and Neal L. Whittaker of Michigan City.
In addition to enjoying many family moments, Donna was an avid gardener and longtime
member of the Church of the Brethren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Richard G. Brundage and a half-sister,
Betty Tankerley.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 3 in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Services will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home conducted by family friend Linda Starr.
Interment will be in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers the family would ask that memorials be considered to the Center for Hospice
and Palliative Care, 112 S. Center St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Bobby Smoker Clark
Bobby Smoker Clark, 75, of 556 Brentwood Drive, Akron, died Thursday at William Childs
Hospice House, Palm Bay, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Clark, Akron; two daughters, Deborah Gerber, Fort Wayne,
and Dianna Roberts, Melbourne, Fla.; and three sisters, Betty Rohrer, Denton, Texas, and Mary
Ann Stinson and Donna Wahlig, both of Fort Wayne.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron. Visitation will be from
5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Darlene J. Elsea
BURR OAK -- Darlene J. Elsea, 70, of Burr Oak, died at 9:30 p.m. April 1, 2010 in Burr Oak.
Darlene was born to Vern Hutchins and Dorothy Stedman July 13, 1939 in St. Paul, Minn. She
was married on April 4, 1966 at to Mitchell Elsea. He preceded her in deaath on March 12, 2008.
Darlene is survived by her son Brian (Deb) Cites of Culver; daughters Linda Bradford of
Plymouth, Becky (Brian) Shepherd and Michelle (Denver) Annis of Culver; grandsons Chris,
Tommy, Timmy, Corey, Craig, Brian, and Ayden; granddaughters Lindsay and Janessa; step grandchildren
Peggy and Patty; great-grandsons Gabriel and Tyler; step-great-grandson Gerald;
and great-great-granddaughters Sierra, Emma, Alexis and Kayla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son.
Visitation with the family will be at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, Monday, April 5, from 3 to 6
p.m. There will be no services. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Marshall Co. Shop with a Cop program.
The Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert C. Freed
PLMOUTH -- Robert C. Freed, 81, of 5535 Lilac Road, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, passed away
at 9:13 a.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Bob was born on April 7, 1928, in Plymouth, to Carl and Clara (Stewart) Freed. He served his
country in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed on the Panama Canal.
On Oct. 17, 1959, Bob and Gracie Lampkins were united in marriage.
He worked at Bremen Bearing, in the quality control department. He was an avid golfer. Bob and
Gracie enjoyed playing cards and once a month they would play with two other couples.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gracie Freed; his brother-in-law, John and Beverly
Lampkins of Plymouth; his niece, Pam and Doug Schuler of Leesburg; his nephews, Rod and
Peggy Dawson of Culver, Mark and Becky Anderson of Grovertown, Mike Lampkins of
Plymouth, John, Jr. and Candy Lampkins of Plymouth, and Kevin Lampkins of Leesburg. He was
preceded in death by his infant son, Bryan Freed.
Memorial contributions may be given to the choice of the donor.

Richard Stahl
PERU -- Richard Stahl, 87, of Macy died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Caring Hands Healthcare
and Rehab of Peru.
He is survived by two daughters: Kathy (David) Floyd of Macy, and Linda (Chris) Leedy of Macy;
three granchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Opal Pontus of Rochester; two brothers:
Noble (Alvenia) Stahl of LaPorte, and Wayne (Barbara) Stahl of Chuby, Tenn.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th
St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to
the service in the funeral home.
A Masonic service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, conducted by the Lincoln Lodge. Interment will
follow the services at Plainview cemetery of Macy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Lodge #523 of Macy.

Todd Andrews
MISHAWAKA -- Todd Andrews, 44, of Mishawaka, died Friday, April 2 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa; parents Ronald and Marcia Andrews of Wyatt; two daughters:
Jessica Andrews of South BEnd and Chasity (Javi) Mendez of South Bend; one step-daughter,
Sara Menn of Mishawaka; one step-son, James Nicholas of Mishawaka; and three sisters: Sue
Dover of Mishawaka, Cheryl Diswespelare of Lakeville and Lori (Rob) Johnson of Bremen.
Visitation is Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Bremen cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Elsie Beane
BREMEN -- Elsie Beane, 80, of Bremen died Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Bremen Health Care
Center.
She is survived by her husband, Norval Beane of Bremen; son, Gary (Phyllis) Beane of
Rochester; daughter, Sharon (Pat) Schutz of Bremen; brother, Marion Litchfield of Brewster,
Wash.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Burial
will follow at the Bremen cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 5 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Don A., II Beck
FT. WAYNE – Don A Beck II, 61, a Ft. Wayne resident for the past four years, died from an
extended illness in Parkview Hospital at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010.
Don was a former resident of Plymouth for 28 years before moving to Allen County.
He was born in Greensburg, Ind. Dec. 10, 1948, the son of Don A. and Dorothy (Tetrick) Beck.
There, he grew up on the family farm.
He graduated from Greensburg High School with the class of 1967, and earned his Bachelor
Degree from Purdue University in Agricultural Economics.
He served six years in the United States Army – National Guard.
On Dec. 28, 1974, in Lafayette, Don and Rita H. Huetson were married and together they raised
two daughters.
From 1975 to 2008, Don worked as an Agricultural Specialist with farmers and agri-businesses
throughout the northern half of Indiana.
Don was a Purdue University sports fan, an avid golfer and fully embraced computer technology
and electronic devices. After retiring in 2008 Don became a great cook and was an expert on the
grill. He was a people person, who really got to know those he met and worked with. Above all
as a family man he loved being in the presence of his grandchildren.
Don has remained a member of the Plymouth First United Methodist Church, where he loved
singing in the church choir, he was also member of the Plymouth Lions Club for over 25 years,
along with the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge No.149 and the Elks Lodge.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Rita, daughters and grandchildren: Chrissi (Mark) Sutch and
children Tyler and Richie of Plymouth and Missy (Ken) Hicks and children Kelly and Jack of
Valparaiso.
Also surviving are two sisters: Debbie Iacino, Denver, Colo., and Diane Perkins, Georgetown,
Colo., his extended family and many nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends are invited to visit and share memories with his family on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, from 4
to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, where a
Masonic Rite will be given at 7:45 p.m. by members of the Plymouth Lodge.
Calling will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the
First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Michigan St. in Plymouth. The Rev. Dr. Dean Fager will
officiate.
Don will be honored for his service to his country with a presentation of the flag by American
Legion Post No. 27 Commander; Julian Keiser.
Memorial gifts in Don’s name may be made to the Church.

Jewell Gordon
PLYMOUTH – Jewell Gordon, 80, died Sunday morning on April 4, 2010 in Miller’s Merry Manor
Nursing Home, Plymouth.
Jewell was born in Albertville, Ala. May 7, 1929 the daughter of A.L. and Rena West Malone.
She graduated from Emerson High School in Gary.
On Dec. 18, 1948 Jewell took Russell Gordon as her husband in Crown Point.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family. Jewell was also a member of the Calvary
Evangelical Church.
Jewell is survived by her husband Russell; five children Brenda Filla, Lake Station; Gloria
(Jimmy) Buchmeier, Lowell; Richard Gordon, Virginia; Dolores (Frank) Cutlip, DeMonte; and
Marsha (Raymond) Humphrey, Plymouth.
Ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren survive as well along a sisters Marie Todd, and
one brother James (Jean) Malone both of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother A. L. (Jr) Malone and a sister Frances
Bramlett.
Friends are invited to a time of sharing with the family on Tuesday April 6, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m.,
in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, IN 46563.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday April 7, 2010 in the funeral home at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow in the New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contributions in Jewell’s name may be given to the Calvary Lutheran Evangelical
Church.
