Akira Mae Gard
MISHAWAKA -- Akira Mae Gard, 15 days old, died at 1:50 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Riley
Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.
She is survived by her parents, Joshua T.C. and Bridgette K. Gard; twin sister, Trinity Kay Gard;
maternal grandparents, Wanda and Steve Stewart of Plymouth and William Thomas of South
Bend; paternal grandparents, Gloryann and Brett Dean of Elkhart and Ricky Gard of Mishawaka;
maternal great-grandmothers, Lorraine Jackson of Plymouth and Delores Stewart of Illinois;
paternal great-grandparents, Zelda Gard and Doris Dean, both of South Bend, Donald Gard of
Kansas, Judy Brown of Berrien Springs, Mich., and Jeremiah Bair of Mishawaka; and several
aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Mt. Pleasant cemetery,
South Bend.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, Indianapolis.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, was entrusted with arrangements.

Oswald (Oz) Neal Hall
SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Oswald (Oz) Neal Hall, 79, resident of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. since
1984, formerly of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, and Highland, passed away April 26, 2010 at Bert
Fish Medical Hospital.
He was born to Oswald (Buck) and Susan Isabelle Hall in McHenry, Ky. July 30, 1930.
He owned Oz’s Barber Shop in Highland, for 30 years and also managed Redland Mobile Park,
New Smyrna, Fla. He was was a pipefitter at Youngstown Sheet & Tube, East Chicago, Ind. and
an Army Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Lions
Club, VFW, American Legion, was secretary of Cal Ridge Moose Lodge, Lodge 735 F&AM and
Lieutenant of the Highland Volunteer Fire Dept.
Surviving are his wife, Alvina May Schneider, the love of his life for 58 years; son, Michael E.
(Chris) Hall; three granddaughters: Candie (Jason) Wilson, Mindie (Cliff) Dukes, Amanda
(Mike)Thompson; five great-grandsons: Jason, Ryan, Neal, Austin, and Chase; one great granddaughter,
Savanah; a brother, Terry (Linda) Hall, Bremen; a sister, Janet (Ron) Adams,
Andrews, and NSB, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
There will be no visitation. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Lalla J. Heyde
ROCHESTER -- Lalla J. Heyde, 76, of Rochester, died Monday, April 26, 2010 at Woodlawn
Hospital, Rochester.
She is survived by her husband James; and sons: Ed Heyde of Indianapolis, David Heyde of
Rochester and Robert Heyde of Prospect Heights, Ill.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200
W. 18th St., Rochester and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30 at Grace United Methodist Church,
Rochester.

Carol H. Knop
KOONTZ LAKE -- Carol H. Knop, 79, died Monday, April 26, 2010 in Our Lady of Peace
Hospital, Mishawaka, after an illness.
She is survived by her husband Donald; a son, William Knop of Koontz Lake; and two
grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (CT) at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel
and Saturday at the church after 10 a.m.
Funeral services will take place at at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church,
Hamlet.
Burial will take place at the Grovertown cemetery.

Ralph C. Kreamer
KEWANNA, Ind. -- Ralph C. Kreamer, 90, of 11125 W. Willow Point, Kewanna, passed away at
10:40 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac.
Ralph was born July 16, 1919, in Kewanna, to Harry and Artha (Baker) Kreamer. He was a
farmer. He retired from the Fulton County Highway Department as superintendent.
Ralph served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. He was in the South Pacific on the
Islands of Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian, and Marianas. Ralph married Ivy Wathan Jan. 1, 1973.
Ralph was a member of Saint Thomas Episcopal Church in Plymouth; V.F.W. Post #1121 in
Kewanna; the American Legion Post #36 in Rochester; Masonic Lodge #79 in Rochester; and
the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Ivy Kreamer; his children: Jerry Lee (Rufina) Kreamer of Monrovia,
Verl Ray (Beverly) Kreamer of Kewanna, Bonita Stay of Plymouth, Linda Wright of Hartselle,
Ala., and Barry Stay of Plymouth; his sister, Doris Zellers of Sun City, Fla.; nine grandchildren;
and nine great-grandchildren.

Sister David Huelskamp
DONALDSON -- Sister David Huelskamp, of PHJC, died of natural causes at 4:20 p.m.
Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in the Catherine Kasper Home.
She was 88 years old. Born in Breese, Ill., Aug. 11, 1921, she was the daughter of Hermann and
Catherine Petermeyer Huelskamp. Her life was blessed with service.
Sister David entered into the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ June 25, 1940. Her first vows
were professed June 25, 1942, and her final vows were taken June 24, 1947.
As a teacher, she received her B.A. in education from St. Francis College, Fort Wayne.
Sister’s mission experience covered 55 years. She first taught grades third and fourth at Holy
Childhood School in Illinois, then the fourth grade in Fort Wayne and South Bend, followed by
five years with the third grade at the Angel Guardian Orphanage in Chicago.
For the next nine years she was a fifth grade teacher at St. Joseph in Mishawaka, followed by
elementary grades at St. Monica in Mishawaka and St. Vincent, in Fort Wayne.
She taught math at two schools, Mater Dei High School in Breese, Ill., and Ancilla College until
her retirement in 1998.
Sister David is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is the aunt of Sister Julia
Huelskamp and Associates Al and Eleanor Fiascone, Dennis and Lorraine Huelskamp and Mary
Lou Hansen who lived with the Huelskamp family.
There are also many great as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Sister David in death are her parents and nine deceased brothers and sisters. They:
are Emma Petranih, Joseph Huelskamp, Rose Rengier, Angie Hall, Alex Huelskamp, Sister
Erwin, Sister Lawrence and Sister Lorine Huelskamp, PHJC, and Mary Zimmerly.
Visitation for Sister David Huelskamp will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30 in the Catherine
Kasper Chapel, Donaldson. A Wake Service will begin at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Resurrection for Sister David will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, in the Catherine
Kasper Chapel. The Reverend Father Ed Konnerman will officiate.
Interment will be in the Mount Carmel cemetery, Donaldson.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, assisted with
arrangements.
Memorial gifts may be given to the PHJC Ministries.

Marie G. Kose
CULVER -- Marie G. Kose, 93, formerly of Culver passed away on April 27, 2010 at the Elmcroft
Assisted Living Facility in Muncie, Ind.
Marie was born June 5, 1916 in Lincoln, Neb. After graduating high school, she fell in love with
and married William Kose at at the Christ Lutheran Church in Chicago, Ill. Together they raised
two girls. William preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1993.
After moving to Culver, Marie worked at the Culver Military Academy as a telephone operator,
retiring after 21 years. She was an active member of the Grace United Church of Christ. She
was involved in the church’s Women’s Guild.
Being an active member of the community, Marie was a member of the Culver City Club and the
Culver Homemakers. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, Culver Lodge, a mother
advisor in the Order of Rainbow For Girls, Culver Assembly 61. One of Marie’s favorite pastimes
was baking cookies to share with everyone around her.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Betty L. (Bob) Knaus of Anderson, and Linda L. Hall of
Evansville; nieces, Katherine Wirtz of Skokie, Ill. and Barbara Wirtz (Jim) Cote of Niles, lll.;
nephew, Henry G. Wirtz of Round Lake, Ill.; grandchildren: J. Michael Knaus of Sarasota, Fla.,
Mark A. Knaus of Evansville, Suzanne M. Hall of Hurst, Texas, and Thomas E. Hall of
Noblesville; great-grandchildren: Joshua M. Knaus of Noblesville, Kylea C. Ashley of Vincennes,
Mylon L. and Timothy A. Knaus of Vincennes; great-great-grandchildren, Mattilyn E. Ashley and
Carter Knaus; and sister, Frieda Klein Wirtz of Skokie, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Frederick Geier and Kathryn M. Luft Geier
Klein; brothers: Henry, John, Edward, and Alexander Klein; sisters, Marie Klein Schreiber and
Amalia Klein Reifschneider; and foster father, Henry Klein.
A time of sharing memories with the family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. (EDT) Monday, May 3 at
Grace United Church of Christ, 307 N. Plymouth St., Culver.
Rev. Robin Keating will officiate services at 11 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday, May 4 at the Grace United
Church of Christ, Culver.
Interment will follow at Culver Masonic cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace United Church of Christ, Hope Hospice of
Rochester, or State of the Heart Hospice of Muncie.

Wayne T. Hendricks
PLYMOUTH -- Wayne T. Hendricks, age 84, of 222 Parkview St., Plymouth, IN, 46563, passed
away at 9:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
Wayne was born July 20, 1925, in Marshall County, Ind., to Russell and Irene (Hite) Hendricks.
Feb. 16, 1947, Wayne married the former Leota Yockey, in Bremen. Wayne retired from the
United States Postal Service, as a mail carrier. He also farmed in his free time.
He was a member of the Retired National Rural Carriers Association. Wayne proudly served his
country in the United States Army during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart, for his
service.
Wayne is survived by his four sons: Gary and Sherry Hendricks of Plymouth, Terry Hendricks of
New Paris, Mark and Julie Hendricks of Evansville, and Kevin Hendricks of Plymouth; 10
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister, Nila Greenlee
of Plymouth.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Leota, and his brother, Robert Hendricks.
Memorials may be given to:

Fern M. Nifong
BREMEN -- Fern M. Nifong, 83, of Bremen, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Bremen
Healthcare Center.
She is survived by her husband, Roger; a son Rex (Jacqueline) Nifong of Plymouth; daughters,
Marcia (Michael) Hall of Elkhart and Judy (Joel) DeSelm of Woodburn; eight grandchildren; and
one great-grandson.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 1 at Bremen Church of the Brethren.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen Church of the Brethren.

Mary E. McKee
ROCHESTER -- Mary E. McKee, 78, of Rochester, died at 9:23 a.m. Thursday, April 29, 2010
at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughters, Cheryl (Jerry) Brown of Rochester and
Jacqueline (David) Danhauser of Logansport; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30 at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200
W. 18th St. Rochester.
Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery.
