Elizabeth Hufford, 89
FLORA -- Elizabeth "Betty" Hufford, 89, of Flora, died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at her residence. She had been in ill health for the past month.

She was born Aug. 5, 1916, to the late Ida Clark and Daniel Miller in Menomonie, Wis.

Her marriage was to Jesse Andrew Hufford on Jan. 12, 1935, in Elkhart County, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2004.

Mrs. Hufford was a homemaker and a member of Flora Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

Surviving are her children, Dan Hufford (wife: Norma) of North Manchester, Shirley Bowman of Tipp City, Ohio, Larry Hufford (wife: Elaine) of Edgar, Wis., and Lynn Hufford (wife: Joellyn) of Kokomo; and four sisters, Gladys Overholser and Doris Clark, both of Goshen, Rosia Yoder Brovont (husband: Chester) of Flora and Velma Stull (husband: Kenneth) of Union City, Ohio.

Friends may call from 2-5 and 6-9 p.m. today at Reinke Funeral Home in Flora. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday at Flora Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Interment Maple Lawn Cemetery.

H. Gene Jervis, 76
H. Gene Jervis, 76, of Kokomo, died at 12:38 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Carmel. He was the father of a local resident.

Born April 2, 1928, to the late Herbert and Grace Aiken Jervis in Bringhurst, he was a 1947 graduate of Cutler High School and a 1949 graduate of Indiana Barber College.

Mr. Jervis worked as a barber in downtown Lafayette and on the Purdue University campus. After moving to Kokomo in 1952, he worked at Tom's Barber Shop before opening Gene's Barber Shop later that year.

He enjoyed racing and attended the Indianapolis 500 race since 1940.

Surviving are a daughter, Jeannine Jervis of Lafayette; a son, Jeff Jervis of Indianapolis; his companion, Kathy Hite of Kokomo; a sister, Bonnie Widner of Delphi; and three brothers, Gordon Jervis of Anaheim, Calif., Joseph Jervis of Minneapolis and Richard Jervis of Anderson.

Friends are invited to call from 4:30-8 p.m. today at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road. A private service will be held there Wednesday, the Rev. Jim Jacobs officiating. Interment Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Martha E. Kirkendall, 91
FRANKFORT -- Martha E. Kirkendall, 91, died at 11:32 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Wesley Manor Health Care in Frankfort.

Born Oct. 9, 1914, in Geetingsville to the late William Walter and Ivil Jacoby Unger, she was a 1931 graduate of Frankfort High School.

She married Ettis Howard Kirkendall on Feb. 11, 1934. He preceded her in death May 2, 2002.

Mrs. Kirkendall spent all her married life in Burlington, moving to Wesley Manor in 2002.

She was a lifelong member of the Burlington United Methodist Church where she was associated with the Women's Society of Christian Service, and served on various church committees. She had been active with the Burlington PTA and the Burlington High School Band Parents. Since moving to Wesley Manor, she had been an active member of the Spiritual Life Committee.

Mrs. Kirkendall enjoyed playing euchre. She was an avid supporter of the U.S. Olympic Team.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane Ann Milburn (husband: Allen) of Lebanon; two sons, John Neal Kirkendall (wife: Carolyn) of Ypsilanti, Mich., and James Vernon Kirkendall of Long Beach, Calif.

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at Wesley Manor Amanda Reid Chapel. Chaplain Sheldon Grame will officiating. Private family burial, Burlington Cemetery. Surviving are 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, a sister, Evelyn, brother, Vernon. Memorials to Wesley Manor. Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville, and Neptune Funeral Home, Burlington, are handling arrangements.

Audrey Regnier, 76
MOROCCO -- Audrey "Mort" Regnier, 76, of Morocco, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, in his residence.

Born Dec. 22, 1929, to the late Alfred and Isabelle Arseneau Regnier, in Beaverville, Ill., he farmed most of his life. After retiring, he operated Mort's Coffee Shop at the Illinois Hunting Grounds outside Beaverville until December 2005.

Mr. Regnier enjoyed tractor pulling, bowling, cooking and playing cards.

His first marriage was to Teresa Finegan in 1950. On July 13, 1991, he married Barbara Pettet, who survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Jim Regnier of Donovan, Ill., Duane "Mort" Regnier of Beaverville, Jay Regnier (wife: Diane) of Buford, Ga., and Darren Regnier (wife: Cindy) of Fowler; two daughters, Jill Johnson (husband: Norman) of Donovan, Ill., and Juanita Regnier of Beaverville; two stepchildren, Rhonda Leckrone (husband: Michael) of Lafayette and Steve Pettet (wife: Vanessa) of Fowler; and two sisters, Lauretta Lafond and Ivadell Parks, both of Beaverville.

Visitation 4-8 p.m. today at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne, Ill., and one hour prior to 10 a.m. Wednesday service at St. Mary Catholic Church, Beaverville. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Surviving are 12 grandchildren, 7 stepgrandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded by a brother, Francis, a sister, Wyanita, a grandson, Jake Ross, a stepson, Larry. Memorials to the future care of son, Jim, or to Jasper County Hospice.

Florence L. Reynolds, 74
ATTICA -- Florence L. White Reynolds, 74, of Danville, Ill., formerly of Attica, died at 4:40 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at the Provena United Samaritan Medical Center in Danville.

Born Jan. 19, 1932, to the late Edwin and Juanita Praether White in Syracuse, N.Y., she was raised and educated in New York and had resided in Attica until moving to Danville in the 1990s.

She married Victor Kerr Reynolds on Sept. 16, 1949, in Williamsport, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1982.

Mrs. Reynolds formerly worked at Essex Wire in Fowler and later worked in private home health care services as an aide.

She enjoyed listening to classical music, reading and working puzzles.

Surviving are three daughters, Connie Ann Reynolds, Sandra Lee Reynolds and Edwina "Edie" Marie Ingram, all of Danville; a stepbrother, Clayton Stamper of Oklahoma; and a stepsister, Dorothy Corbin of Winter Haven, Fla.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 24, at Riverside Cemetery in Attica. Also surviving are a granddaughter, Florence Eilene Deaton; and 2 great- grandchildren, James Victor and Katarina Marie Deaton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Children Cancer Research at St. Jude Children's Hospital or Riley Hospital.

Vera E. Yenna, 68
GOODLAND -- Vera E. Yenna, 68, of Goodland, died at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, in Provena Covenant Medical Center in Champaign-Urbana, Ill.

Born July 26, 1937, to the late Earl and Delorus Sheets Hoaks in Goodland, she was a life resident.

Her marriage was to Willis W. Yenna on Nov. 13, 1955, in Goodland, and he survives.

Mrs. Yenna was a homemaker and a former member of Goodland Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed making candy, crossword puzzles and roses.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Cindy Goyette (husband: Tom) of Kentland and Kimberly Graves (husband: Steve) of Wolcott; three sisters, Hazel Robertson of Carmel, Elsie Minnick (husband: Jess) and Donna Jeffers (husband: Bruce), both of Remington; and six brothers, Dale Hoaks of Indianapolis, Norman Hoaks (wife: Dorothy) of Templeton, Alvin Hoaks of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Leslie Hoaks (wife: Ann) and Louis Hoaks (wife: Marie), both of Goodland, and Glenn Hoaks (wife: Deb) of Stone Mountain, Ga.

Friends may call 2 hours prior to noon (CST) service Tuesday at Gerts Funeral Home, Goodland. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Goyette, Melissa Reed, Jessica Goyette and Brandi Graves; and 2 great-grandchildren, Cassity Goyette and Carissa Reed. Preceded in death by 1 brother and 5 sisters. Memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.

Emma D. Taylor, 94
BROOK -- Emma D. Taylor, 94, of Donovan, Ill., died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Watseka Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Illinois. She was the mother of a local resident.

She was born May 1, 1911, to Ioda Taylor and Ken Haste in Somerset, Ky.

Her marriage was to John Wilbur Taylor on Dec. 22, 1933, in Crown Point, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1987.

Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker. She was a member of Iroquois United Methodist Women and a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star.

She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, baking and crocheting.

Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Daniel (husband: Robert) of Iroquois, Ill.; and a son, John Taylor (wife: Judy) of Brook.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, Ill., with service there 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Pastor Sue Spurlin officiating. Interment Morris Chapel Cemetery in Iroquois. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 grandson. Memorials may be made to donor's choice.

Angelo Palikaris, 84
Angelo Palikaris, 84, of Lafayette, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at Home Hospital.

Born Feb. 9, 1922, to the late Spiros and Angeliki Kaloutsis Palikaris in Kankakee, Ill., he moved to Lafayette in 1926 and was a 1940 graduate of Jefferson High School. He later attended Purdue University.

He married Niki Neckopulos on Jan. 20, 1952, in Kankakee, and she survives.

He was a veteran, serving in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946 as a radar operator during World War II. He served on the USS Oberon in 1942 and the USS J. T. Dickman in 1944.

Mr. Palikaris worked for General Telephone Co. as a data processor for six years and later as a lab technician for Lafayette Water Works, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Indianapolis, St. Alexis Orthodox Church in Lafayette and American Legion Post 11.

Mr. Palikaris enjoyed traveling, reading about ancient history, basketball, and organizing Jefferson High School reunions.

Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Angela Palikaris of Lafayette.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral services noon Tuesday at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Kankakee, IL, with interment at Mound Grove Cemetery in Kankakee. Memorial contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, St. Alexis Orthodox Church or the American Cancer Society. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and a godson. Preceded in death by a daughter, Athanasia (Ann) Palikaris; and his aunt and uncle, Nicholas and Christina Palikaris, who helped his father to raise him after the untimely death of his mother. Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, 1151 E Court, Kankakee, IL will be handling arrangements in Illinois.

Carolyn A. Harshman, 72
FRANKFORT -- Carolyn A. Harshman, 72, of rural Frankfort, died at 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.

Born Aug. 27, 1933, to the late Clarence and Geneve Daugherty Mennen in Lafayette, she was a 1951 graduate of Clarks Hill High School. After the death of her father, she was raised by her mother and stepfather, the late Ledger Fickle.

Her marriage was to Glenn M. Harshman on April 6, 1952, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1997.

Mrs. Harshman was a homemaker and also assisted her husband on their farm.

She was a member of Manson Congregational Christian Church, where she had served as organist for many years and as treasurer of the Women's Fellowship.

Surviving are two daughters, Carla Harshman of Frankfort and Lori Daugherty (husband: Jeff) of New Palestine; and a sister, Nancy Dickson (husband: Sam) of Muncie.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Goodwin Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to 10:30 a.m. service Thursday at Manson Congregational Christian Church. Interment Bunnell Cemetery. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Daugherty, Traci Daugherty, Eric Daugherty and Brooke Daugherty Layton; and 2 great-grandchildren, Ashley Daugherty and Brandon Daugherty. Memorial donations may be made to Manson Congregational Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.

James L. Dotson, 88
James L. Dotson, 88, of Lafayette, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Bloomington Hospitality House in Bloomington.

Born Feb. 16, 1918, to the late James L. and Effie M. Corbly Dotson in Huntington, W.V., he had resided in Lafayette since 1947.

He was a veteran, serving in the Navy from 1943 to 1945 on the USS Oracle, a mine sweeper, as a second class radar man.

His marriage was to E. Margaret Sexton on Nov. 25, 1939, and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2003.

Mr. Dotson worked as a machinist at Alcoa Aluminum Plant until his retirement in 1983 and had previously worked at a nickel plant in West Virginia.

He was formerly a member of American Legion Post 11 and enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Surviving are two daughters, Dianne Brown (husband: Don H.) of Zionsville and Sandra L. Frazer of Bloomfield.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., with service there 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Dr. Clayton Kendall officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Memorials may be made to Bloomington Hospitality House, 1100 S. Curry Pike, Bloomington, IN 47403.
