PLYMOUTH -- Alice R. Sayer, 84, of Plymouth, formerly of South Bend, died Nov. 3, 2010 in
Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, Plymouth.
She is survived by her children: Maria (Joseph) Brothers of South Bend, Christopher (Jeanette)
Sayer of Culver, Theresa Lyczynski and Joseph Lyczynski, of South Bend; six grandchildren;
four great- grandchildren; sisters, Alice are Irene Parks, Billie Vaughn and Betty Simon; and a
brother, Robert Tavernier.
Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola.
Funeral services will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Charles E. Weaver
NAPPANEE -- Charles E. Weaver, 98, Nappanee, died at 11:02 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010
at Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness.
He is survived by sons: Donald Weaver, Devon (Pat) Weaver, James (Diane) Weaver, and
Charles A. (Shirley) Weaver, all of Nappanee; daughters: Delores Culp of Nappanee, Dixie
Roeder of Nappanee, Carol (Jerry) Sherk of Gladewater, Texas, and Connie Thomas of
Nappanee; stepchildren, Stanley (Pat) Lutes of Kokomo, and Rebecca (Peter) Wajszczuk of
Osceola; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 and one hour prior to services Saturday
at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brethren in Christ Church.
Burial will follow at Union Center cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nappanee Public Library.

Laura J. Gerald
ROCHESTER -- Laura J. Gerald, 90, of 1204 Wabash Ave., Rochester, passed away at 12:38
p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at her residence.
She is survived by: a son, Larry E. Gerald of Rochester; three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren;
and two great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of the life of Laura Gerald will be at 11 a.m Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 in the Good
Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 9 to
11 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow the service at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Carl J. Null
WAKARUSA -- Carl J. Null, 94, of Wakarusa died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Miller’s Senior Living
Community, Wakarusa.
He is survived by his sister, Marion M. Scott of Bremen; nephew, Doug (Cindy) Scott of
Wakarusa; and niece, Suzanne (Glen) Slabach of Syracuse.
Visitation is Monday, Nov. 8 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder, Wakarusa from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Funeral services are Monday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder, Wakarusa.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church.

Esther E. Oliver
PLYMOUTH -- The Chicago White Sox have lost one of their most enthusiastic fans. In an
interview in 2005, she is quoted as saying that she had been “a fan forever.”
Esther E. Oliver, 94, died of natural causes in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, Friday, Nov. 5,
2010, at 12:10 p.m.
Born in Chicago, Esther was the daughter of Axel and Tekla Tengelin Carlson Larson.
Raised in Mount Greenwood, Ill., she went to the Mount Greenwood school through the eighth
grade. She dropped out of school during the Great Depression to get a job as a nanny for a local
family.
Esther said that she “had lived a wonderful life and lived in interesting places without ever
learning to drive a car.”
She had known Adam Oliver’s family for years. He went to the same school, but was four years
ahead of her. His sister got them together and June 24, 1933, they were married . Esther told
everyone that she married an old man.
The newlyweds both worked in a feed store. Together they were paid $8 a week.
In 1937, their only child, Janice “Jan” Badell, was born in the same home where Esther was born
22 years before.
Esther and Adam bought their first home for $2, 800 and paid for it by the month. She was thrilled
that the house had running water and an inside toilet. They had a big garden and Esther canned
and froze his vegetables.
The couple loved to fish together and eventually built a vacation home in Freemont, Wis.,
moving there because the bass fishing in the White river was so excellent.
In 1978, with Adam’s health deteriorating, they moved to Plymouth to be near their daughter, Jan
and her husband, Dr. Douglas Badell and their family.
Adam who’d had open heart surgery, died at age 89 of prostate and bone cancer in 2000. They
had been married for almost 67 years.
Esther loved and was very proud of her husband and her family. They were her whole life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Douglas and Janice Badell, of Plymouth and a
grandson and his wife, Dr. Jeff and Lisa Badell, Plymouth: two granddaughters: Dr. Kim and Dr.
Brad Wilson, Jasper, and Pam and Jim Fasteen, Louisville, Ky.
Nine great-grandchildren also survive. They are Jillian Badell, Jay Badell and Olivia Coulter:
Brant, Hailey and Pete Wilson and Tess, Jack and Chet Fasteen.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, from 11 to 1 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services for Esther will be held at the funeral home following visitation at 1 p.m. The
Rev. Charles Krieg will officiate.
Burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made in Esther’s memory to the First United Methodist Church, where
she was a member, or to the Marshall County Humane Society.

Opal C. (Schultz) Richter
PLYMOUTH -- Opal C. Richter, 98, of 9th Road, Plymouth, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010,
at 5:30 p.m., in Bremen Health Care Center, Bremen.
Opal was born Jan. 3, 1912, in Tyner, to Walter and Stella (Jones) Killian. Archie Schultz and
Opal were married in 1928. Archie passed away in 1987. Opal married T.K. Richter in 1990. T.K.
passed away in 2001. Opal worked for 16 years at the Teegarden Nursing Home in the kitchen
and also as a nurse’s aid.
Opal is survived by her son, Chuck Schultz of Elkhart; her grandchildren, Anthony and Chrispin
Harper, both of Elkhart; her stepdaughters, Marcia Richter of Bremen and Beverly (Omer) Reese
of Evanston, Ill.; her step grandsons, Jonathan of Evanston and Joel of Chicago, Ill.; and one
great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred Killian; her daughter, Phyllis; and her foster
son, Kenneth Duncan.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family to be put into a college fund for Opal’s
grandchildren.

Edith Thornton
BREMEN -- Edith Thornton, 89, of Bremen passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Memorial
Hospital in South Bend.
Survivors include two daughters: Sandra (Dave) Cochran of Manhattan, Ill. And Shirley (Rich)
Clement of Juneau, Alaska, three sons: Dennis (Cathy) Thornton of Bremen, Roger (Marge)
Thornton of Leesburg and Larry (Rita) Thornton of Plymouth, 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren
with two on the way, three great-great grandchildren with two on the way, brother
Ernie (Margie) Brown of Mishawaka, sister Ruby (Paul) Gorkham of California and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen
and will be officiated by Pastor Roger Walterhouse. Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 and one hour before the service on
Tuesday, all at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth or to the American Heart
Association.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary G. Wildes
CULVER -- Mary G. “Tiny” Wildes, 87, of Culver died at 10:55 a.m. Nov. 5, 2010 at Miller’s
Merry Manor in Culver.
Mary was born to Vincent Roppolo and Lina Rizzo on Oct. 27, 1923 in Gary. She graduated from
Emmerson High School. She was married Nov. 24, 1945 at St. Anthony’s Rectory in Gary to
Charles “Ted” Wildes. Together they raised five children. Ted preceded her in death in 1999.
Mary was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church in Culver. She was a very good
cook. Mary will be greatly missed by many.
Mary is survived by: her sons, Terry (Janice Ritz) Wildes of Crown Point, Tim (Susan) Wildes of
Warsaw, and Kevin (Sherri) Wildes of South Bend; daughters, Sue (Danny) Deneen of
Noblesville, and Paulette (Bill) Shaw of Chicago, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Emily, Austin, Danielle,
Jason and Nathan Wildes, Alice (Mike) Dominguez, and Kaley and Rory Deneen, Harry
(Angella) Pierce, Thaddeus Pierce and fiance Esther White, Molly (Drew) Wilkerson, and
Melissa Wildes (Bret) West; five great-grandchildren, Connor, Quinn, Fin, and Annora Mae
Pierce, and Caleb West; one sister; and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her parents
and husband.
A time to share memories with Mary’s family will be at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver,
Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be no funeral services. Interment will be private.
Friends are planning a mass service at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church at 11 a.m.
Monday, Nov. 15.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Culver Community Food Pantry, Culver.
The Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.

Celia M. Beehler
ARGOS -- Celia M. Beehler, 86, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday,
Nov. 6, 2010, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
The daughter of Edward and Orpha P. Jackman Harsh, Celia was born in Marshall County Oct.
21, 1924. She was a 1942 graduate of Plymouth High School and graduated from nurse’s
training in 1946.
On Dec. 7, 1952, Celia became the bride of Arden E. Beehler in Inwood. Arden preceded her in
death June 29, 1995.
Celia had worked at Marshall County Parkview/Holy Cross Hospital in Plymouth, retiring in
November of 1986.
An avid gardener, she enjoyed growing both flowers and vegetables, sharing her bounty with
family and friends.
Celia is survived by a son, Jeffrey (Linda) Beehler of Apex, N.C., a daughter, Deborah (Terry)
McCoy of Okinawa, Japan, a granddaughter, Shannon Diana McCoy and a grandson, Sean
Michael McCoy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers: Kenneth Harsh and Robert Harsh.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.
Funeral services will held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Kerry O’Brien, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church,
where Celia had been a member for many years. Private burial will be in New Oakhill cemetery,
Plymouth.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 S. Michigan Street,
Plymouth, IN 46563.

Jason Eugene Hundt
PLYMOUTH -- Jason Eugene Hundt, 27, Plymouth, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his wife, Erin; daughter, Rilynn Hundt of Plymouth; son, Ryen Hundt of
Plymouth; parents: Larry Hundt of Plymouth and Ginger Millette of Memphis, Tenn.; sister,
Stefanie Hundt of Plymouth; and a brother, Chad Peltz of Cape Girardeau, Mo. Also, his mother
and father-in-law: Nancy and Kevin Ames.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10 at New Oakhill cemetery
Chapel, Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will follow at New
Oakhill cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Hundt family.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is assisting the family with arrangements.
