Deanie Thruston
Deanie Lucille Murry Thruston, 59, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, of heart failure. She had attended Memorial Baptist Church and had worked for the Evansville Store and Lazarus for many years. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and meeting old and new friends. She also spent many hours visiting the sick and shut-ins. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, Boston Thruston, in 1998.
Surviving are daughters, Romidine Tyler and Charmaine Thruston, both of Evansville, and Yolanda Thruston of Nashville, Ind.; sisters, Jane Baxton of Newburgh and Brenda Murry Pittman of Evansville; brother, Leonard Murry of Rocklin, Calif.; grandchildren, Dontae Hines and Djuan, Danyale, Damareo and Derrelle Thruston, all of Evansville; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Osborne Funeral Home, the Rev. Kevin Terry officiating, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Gilbert 'Woody' Witty
Gilbert O. "Woody" Witty, 77, of Evansville, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at his home. Woody retired in 1984 after 26 years as a welder and painter at Whirlpool Corp. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran, having served in Panama. Memorial tributes may be made online at www.mem.com.
Surviving are sons, Jeffery E. Witty of Evansville and Charles O. Witty of Lebanon, Ill.; a brother, Charles D. Witty of Evansville; five grandchildren, Wendy Ann Elder and Shannon Erin, Dustin Elliott, Michael Alan and Sarah Alisha Witty; a great-grandchild, Dayton Anthony Jones; and two nieces, Evonna Phillips and Stephanie Krohn.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, the Rev. Russell Dazey officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ray Beasley
LOOGOOTEE - Ray R. Beasley, 93, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Martin County Health Care & Rehab Center.
He was a lifelong farmer and had worked for Naval Ammunition Depot Construction.
Surviving are his wife, Coy A. (Fields); two daughters, Rosalie Riggins and Elizabeth Bordenet; a son, Anthony; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bramble, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brocksmith Funeral Home in Loogootee, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus service.
Larry Beck
FORT BRANCH - Larry Lee Beck, 32, of Houston, formerly of Fort Branch, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002.
Surviving are his father, Randy Beck; his mother, Mary Jo Blankenberger; two stepsisters, April and Kim Blankenberger; a stepbrother, Kyle Blankenberger; and his grandmothers, Mary Lou Barton and Ellena E. Beck.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home in Evansville.
Walter Goodman
BICKNELL - Walter J. Goodman, 61, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at his home.
He had worked for the Indiana State Highway Department.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Goodman and Debbie Horath; two sons, Mark and Brian; a sister, Brenda Goodman; a brother, Allan; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at McClure Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel, with burial in Hickory Cemetery
near Dugger.

Donald Hennessey
OAKLAND CITY - Donald E. Hennessey, 46, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Deaconess Hospital in Evans- ville. He was born on June 25, 1955, in Iowa City, Iowa, to James and Thelma (Brown) Hennessey.
He worked for the City of Oakland City as city supervisor and was an Animal Control Officer (2515).
He was a member of Oakland City American Legion Post 256 and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and James Hennessey.
Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Frances (Chesser) Hennessey; his mother, Thelma Brown of Princeton; his father, Thomas Brown of Oakland City; four sons, Billy Hennessey of Wyoming, Kevin Wallace, Chuck Krieg and Pat Krieg, all of Oakland City; two daughters, Christie of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Susie of Evansville; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Brenda Cline of Evansville and Judy Johnson and Betty Alderson, both of Princeton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lamb-Basham Memorial Chapel, the Dr. Douglas Low officiating, with burial in Montgomery Cemetery.

John 'J.C.' Huff
TELL CITY - John C. "J.C." Huff, 74, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at Owensboro Mercy Health System in Owensboro, Ky., of compli- cations of cancer.
He was born in Fordsville, Ky., on March 15, 1927. His parents were the late John Huff and Cecilia (Newton) Huff Harlen. A sister, Bobbye Jean (Huff) Dauby, also preceded him in death.
The 1945 graduate of Cannelton High School married Eleanor Amos on February 9, 1947, in Tell City.
Mr. Huff was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Indiana Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, First Baptist Church in Tell City and a 50-year member of the International Order of Odd Fellows 206.
In 1989, he retired from LTV Steel in East Chicago, Ind., formerly known as Youngstown Sheet & Tube, where he worked for over 30 years. After retirement, the Huffs moved back to Perry County. Due to his fond memories of his childhood in Cannelton, he was particularly interested in the restoration of the Indiana Cotton Mill.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eleanor (Amos) Huff of Tell City; two daughters, Jayne Loscuito of Middleburg, Fla., and Judith Huff West of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, John H. Huff of Lake Station, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Jason Loscuito, Anthony West and April Huff.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home Cannelton Chapel, the Rev. Michael Barnes officiating, with burial in Cliff Cemetery
in Cannelton.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Tell City or the American Cancer Society.
Lawrence Kessens
SIBERIA - Lawrence J. Kessens, 63, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at Deaconess St. Joseph's Hospital in Huntingburg of circulatory failure.
He owned and operated Kessens and Son Farms.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth J. "Betty"; four daughters, Cheryl Dishinger, Sheila Lee, Kristina Sherman and Tracey N. Kessens; a son, Ronald; his mother, Caroline Kessens; four sisters, Mary Rose Bounds, Betty Ann Egler, Terri Walker and Helen Kessens; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at St. Martin Catholic Church, with burial in the church Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, with a parish prayer service at 6 p.m. Sunday followed by a St. Meinrad Knights of Columbus memorial service.
Phyllis Melton
FORT BRANCH - Phyllis L. Melton, 59, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at her daughter's home in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; a daughter, Tina Holtzclaw; a son, Robert Phillip; four stepchildren, Michaella Odom, Robin Ann Greene, Scarlet Rose Ice and Jenny Lou Bennett; two sisters, Teresa Hall and Wanda Money; three brothers, Donnie Hall and Charles and Bobby Lee Garrison; and 22 grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton, with burial in Columbia (White Church) Cemetery.
