PLYMOUTH — Marie P. Wagner, 94, of Plymouth, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at Miller’s
Merry Manor, Plymouth.
She is survived by daughter, Bonnie E. Rock of Plymouth; sons: Dan P. Wagner of Glenwood,
Ill. And Robert L. (Marcy) Wagner of Plymouth; sister, Bernice Nipes of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and
brother, Matthew Pastuszak of West Chicago, Ill.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth,
with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 14 at
10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, Plymouth. Burial will be at Patton cemetery, LaPorte.
Memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice, Boy Scouts of America or St. Michael’s
Playground Fund.

Genevieve “Genny” M. Walker
BREMEN — Genevieve “Genny” M. Walker, 81, of Bremen, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at
Community Hospital of Bremen.
She is survived by son, Jeff (Marsha) Welborn of Bremen; daughters: Connie Welborn of
Indianapolis and Jill (Allan) Young of Bourbon; stepsons: John Walker of Bremen and Mike
Walker of Australia; stepdaughters: Karen Wright of Danville and Nancy Walker of Bremen; four
grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren
and brother, Maynard (Louise) Hochstetler of Bremen.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
Funeral services are Saturday, Feb. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church. Burial
will be at Bremen cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospital of Bremen or Salem United Methodist Church.

Paul A. Cripe
BREMEN — Paul A. Cripe, 97, of Bremen, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at Miller’s Merry
Manor, Wakarusa.
He is survived by son, Donald (Carol) Cripe of Bremen; daughter: Marylin Haines of Indianapolis;
grandson, Thomas Cripe II of Plymouth and granddaughter Teresa (Tony) Cox of Tippecanoe,
both whom he raised as his children; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat
grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15 at the Bremen Church of the Brethren. Burial will be
at South Union cemetery, Nappanee. Visitation is from 1 p.m. until time of the service Sunday,
Feb. 15 at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Bremen Church of the Brethren.

Frances P. Meloy
LAKELAND, Fla. — Frances P. Meloy, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 due to complications
resulting from Alzheimer’s.
Frances was born Aug. 18, 1919 in Argos and went on to marry Watson H. Meloy. She later
became the owner of City News Agency.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by two sons: Alan Meloy of Lakeland, Fla. And Arthur Meloy of Palm Bay. Fla.; a
daughter, Sybil Nixon of Lake Wales, Fla.; a sister, Lois Loht of Golden Colo.; eight
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be in Lakeland Memorial Gardens.
Lanier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Helen Peterson
NEW HAVEN, IN — Helen Peterson, 83, of New Haven, Ind., formerly of Bourbon, died
Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009 at 11:20 p.m. at Harborside Healthcare.
She is survived by two daughters: Ann (Dennis) Erpelding of Fort Wayne, Ind. and Jackie
(Russell) Brown of Pierceton, Ind.; one son, Chris Peterson of Avilla, Ind.; eight grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be held with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill cemetery, Bourbon,
Ind.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice,
1315 Directors Row, Suite 210, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.

Anita M. Base
EL MIRAGE, Ariz. — Anita M. Base, 87, of El Mirage, Ariz., died Feb. 13, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil R. Base; daughter, Lynn Base (John) Long of Arizona;
and son, Barry Base of El Mirage, Ariz.
Private family services were held. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 14066
W. Waddell Rd., Surprise, AZ 85379. Advantage Maryvale Mortuary, Arizona, was in charge of
the arrangements. Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, was in charge of local arrangements.

Janice P. Henricks
NORTH JUDSON — Janice P. Henricks, 80, of North Judson, Ind., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009 in
Golden Living Center, Knox, Ind.
She is survived by two sons: Don (Bonita) Henricks of Knox and Leo (Julie) Henricks of North
Judson; two daughters: Diana (William) Smith and Janet (Goble) Conley, all of North Judson;
three sisters: Alice Lane and Corrine Rooney, both of Florida and Connie Mahoney of LaPorte;
two grandsons; four granddaughters; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation is Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 after 10 a.m.
until the time of services at the funeral home.
Funeral services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet
Chapel with Pastor Michael Boyd officiating.
Burial will follow at the Round Lake cemetery, Knox.

Gail Annette Miller-Schaeffer
BASS LAKE — Gail Annette Miller-Schaeffer, 49, of Bass Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at
home.
She is survived by her husband, Kurt Schaeffer; children: Annette Stevens of Colorado and
Travis Stevens of Plymouth; brother, Larry Miller of Valparaiso; one grandson; stepchildren:
Samantha and Seth Schaeffer; and one step-grandson.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. (CDT) at the American Legion
Post in Wanatah.
M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox, is in charge of the arrangements.

William H. Stofer
WARSAW — William “Bill” H. Stofer, 82, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at
2:45 p.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family, in Warsaw. He was born Oct. 12, 1926 in
Highland Park, Mich. To Harrison Brandon Stofer and Annette (Kuhn) Stofer. On Dec. 30, 1967
at Plymouth United Methodist Church, Plymouth, he married Evelyn Harrell, who survives.
Bill earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan. He worked as a Metallurgical
Engineer. From 1950-1968 he owned and operated the Western Auto Associate Store in
Plymouth with his father. From 1968-1992 Bill worked for R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Warsaw,
where he was an Ink Engineer and then Materials Inspection Supervisor.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Stofer of Warsaw; son, Dr. William “Bill” (Jenny) Stofer of
Warsaw; one grandson, Harrison Stofer at home in Warsaw; and sister, Elizabeth (David)
Stewart of Winona Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne
Rd., Warsaw. The funeral service will be Thursday, Feb.19 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with
Rev. Bill Hambright officiating. Interment will at Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorials may be made to the Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, IN
46581-1196 or to Hillsdale College, 33 East College St., Hillsdale, MI 49242.

Betty L. Cain
PLYMOUTH — Betty L. Cain, 86, of Plymouth, died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at
Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth.
She is survived by her sons: Joseph B. McCallister of Fresno, Calif. And Tom Cain of Angola;
and her daughter, Marjorie Gadbury of Muncie.
A graveside service, will be held Saturday, May 16 at 11 a.m. in New Oak Hill cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Saint Michael School Library.

Jack D. Hall
BREMEN — Jack D. Hall, 74, of Bremen, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at the Bremen Health
Care Center.
He is survived by a son, Stephen (Kelley) Hall of Bremen; two grandchildren; brother, Michael
(Sheryl) Hall of Bremen; and sister, Janet (Keith) Lutes of Bremen.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Burial
will take place at Bremen cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at the funeral
home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen Auxiliary Police Department.

James E. Lee
WARSAW — James “Jim” E. Lee, 69, of Warsaw, died at 12:38 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at
Kosciusko Community Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Lee of Warsaw; daughters: Dawn (Kevin) Harris of Warsaw
and Robin (David) Ward of Phoenix, Ariz.; sons: Tim (Cathy) Lee of Mentone and Kim (Julie)
Lee of Malta, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; mother, Reah Lee of Warsaw;
sister, Jennie (Albert) Earl of Atwood; and brother-in-law, David (Diane) Ryman of Atwood.
Visitation is Friday, Feb. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Harrison Center Church, 965 S. 800 W., Etna
Green. Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20 at the church.
Burial will be at Harrison Center cemetery, Etna Green.

Verna S. Neidigh
BREMEN — Verna S. Neidigh, 84, of Bremen, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at
Community Hospital of Bremen.
Verna was born on Feb. 12, 1925 in Plymouth to the late Walter K. Schlosser, MD, and Marion
M. (Pike) Schlosser. On Dec. 25, 1944 she married Robert (“Bob”) J. Neidigh, who survives.
Verna “Marty” Schlosser Neidigh will be remembered as a loving, inspiring wife, mother,
grandmother, aunt, leader and friend. She sought spiritual growth, loved reading and traveling,
and was a “people’s person.” Verna was profoundly hard of hearing her entire life. She helped
lead the way at the local, state and national level to improve accessibility for people with
disabilities by serving as a National Board Member for the Hearing Loss Association of America
(formerly known as Self Help for Hard of Hearing), helping lay the foundation and acting as State
Coordinator for HLA of Indiana, being actively involved in Fifth Freedom statewide advocacy
network, and helping form the Methodist Handicapped Ministries Committee. In 2006 she
received the Indiana Governor’s Council Distinguished Leadership Award, symbolizing the
culmination of her life’s advocacy work. Verna received a BS in Occupational Therapy from the
University of Kansas and a Master of Education from IUSB.
Verna wrote a column, “The Kitchen Window, ” in the Bremen Enquirer for many years. She and
her mother traveled the world in the mid-’70s. Verna was a member of the Society of Friends
South Bend Meeting (Quakers). She was healed of two bouts of stage-four lymphoma in 1974
and 2008. She passed peacefully, succumbing to pneumonia. Her message of love and
forgiveness will be her legacy.
She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Neidigh; four children: Dale R. Neidigh of Florida;
Sharon M. Neidigh of Ohio; Roberta J. (Carsen) Neidigh-Anthonisen of California and John L.
Neidigh of Mississippi. Also surviving are three grandchildren: Marion K., Colleen E. and Haley
C., all of California.
Verna was preceded by her parents, Walter K. Schlosser, MD, and Marion M. (Pike) Schlosser;
two brothers: Daniel B. Schlosser, DVM and Joseph L. Schlosser; and one sister, Bonnie S. Michaud.
Visitation was Sunday, February 22, 2009, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home. Funeral
services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church, 323 N.
Montgomery, Bremen, IN 46506 with Rev. Bill Garver officiating.
Memorials contributions may be given to Hearing Loss Association of Michiana or to the Bremen
Food Pantry.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen assisted the family with arrangements.
