Nanette LeBlanc McDermott
INDIANAPOLIS — Nanette LeBlanc McDermott, a long-time Indianapolis realtor, died May 7,
2009, at her home. Nan possessed a lifelong enthusiasm for business and community service
shown by her active involvement in the Plymouth and Fishers’ Chamber of Commerce.
She was active in the Republican Party, the Rotary Club of Fishers and an avid gardener. She
was awarded the designation as a Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Bowen, recognizing
her distinguished service to the state.
Born September 20, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo., she graduated from West High School in Knoxville,
Tenn. She attended Louisiana State University before enrolling at Indiana University where she
earned a bachelor’s degree and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.
She is survived by three sons: K. Michael (Molly) of Russiaville, Richard (Martha) of Indianapolis
and Edward (Elizabeth) of River Forrest, Ill.; three grandchildren: Matthew, Marc and Leah; her
brother, Edward (Karol) LeBlanc of Indianapolis and their children, Joseph, Alyssa and Johnny.
She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Daniel.
Her outgoing nature, friendship, and sense of humor will be missed by all.
A private family memorial service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 with calling for her friends
from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc.

E. Jane Peregrine
PLYMOUTH — E. Jane Peregrine, 92, a resident of River Park, passed away Thursday morning
in the Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. She was a lifetime Plymouth resident.
Jane was born the daughter of Alfred C. and Gertrude E. (Twomey) Scheetz in Plymouth on
June 7, 1916. She and her two brothers attended Lincoln High School, she being a member of
the Class of 1934.
On July 8, 1936 she became the bride of Garold E. Peregine in Mitchell, S.D. Together for over
58 years, they raised three children and enjoyed several winters in the New Port Richey area of
Florida. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1994.
Jane was a dedicated homemaker who on occasion helped out at Felke Florist on special
holidays and worked on the Voter’s Registration Board and in the Treasurer’s office. She was
also a former member of the Women of the Moose.
Her church, the Trinity United Methodist was very special to her and she remained a member of
the Mary & Martha Circle. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Euchre and collecting Elephants.
Her children are; Barbara L. “Babs” and Jim Johnson, Vickie D. and Russell Creed, all of
Plymouth and Phillip E. and Sue Peregrine of Fort Worth, Texas.
She has nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Buster and Rhonda Johnson and
children Jessica Lynn and Christopher James of Plymouth; Bruce and Suzy Johnson and
children Nathan James and Paul Allan of Plymouth; Jacquelynn “Jacque” and Duane Culp and
children Katelynn Jane and Brittany Lynn of Plymouth; Brent Johnson of Plymouth; Todd Creed
of Indianapolis; Barbara and Brett Thomas of Carmel and Wendy Creed of Indianapolis; Suzie
and Dr. Lance Hampton and son Davis Phillip of Midlothian, Va. and Michelle and Jason Musick
and children James and Katherine Taylor of Austin, Texas.
Also surviving are her sisters-in-law: Dorothy Scheetz, Annabelle Peregrine and Geneva
Thomas, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, stepmother; Edna Scheetz and two
brothers: Thomas and James Scheetz.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 9 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson
Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where services will be conducted by grandson,
Bruce Johnson at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in the New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 425 S. Michigan St.,
Plymouth or the Marshall Co. Council on Aging, 1305 W. Harrison St. Plymouth.

Lorraine V. (Hansen) Bovy
PLYMOUTH — Lorraine V. (Hansen) Bovy died peacefully in her sleep at 5:23 p.m. Friday, May
8, 2009 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth, with members of her family at her bedside.
Lorraine was born in Chicago, Ill. in 1918 to the late Ralph Hansen and Marie (Provost) Hansen,
the eldest of four boys and four girls. After graduating from grade school in 1933, she stayed
home and assisted her mother.
In 1937 she married James Bovy, and they moved to South Bend where they raised a family of
two boys and two girls. A son, James Bovy, Jr.; a daughter, JoAnn (Donald) Banasiewicz; and
son-in-law, James Coiner, Sr. survive her. Her son, Robert Bovy; daughter, Geraldine (Bovy)
Coiner; along with her husband James Bovy, Sr. all preceded her in death.
In 1967, she volunteered as a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, and worked
from 1967 to 1969 at a job she enjoyed. In 1971, with her family’s encouragement, she started to
fulfill a life-long dream of becoming a nurse.
She began to study at the age of 53, and passed her GED in April of 1972 and then began
L.P.N. training at Ivy Tech. Upon graduation she began work at Ridgedale Nursing Home, which
she loved.
Then when her husband became bedridden, she left the workforce to care for him full time until
his death in 1999.
Lorraine is survived by her sister, Marie (Hansen) Zugar and brother, Robert Hansen. She loved
and was proud of her nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.Their
visits brought her great joy.
Lorraine will be missed not only by her family, but also by all whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N.
Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Holy Cross
Catholic Church in South Bend, with Rev. Glenn Kohrman and Rev. Brad Metz, C.S.C.
officiating. A procession will follow to St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, where she will
be laid to rest along side her husband, son, daughter, and husband’s parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks those wishing to do so, make a donation in her memory to the:

Donald Thomas Kirk
GROVERTOWN — Donald Thomas Kirk, 67, died Friday, May 8, 2009 in his home after an illness.
He is survived by his wife, Ingeborg; four daughters: Cheryl (David) Haloski of Indianapolis,
Shelly (Paul) Juergens of Sherwood, Ark., Carolyn Agee of Knox and Sharon (Tim) Benson of
Knox; two sons: Donald Kirk of Walkerton and Michael (Jessica) Kirk of Eagleville, Mo. and 10
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 11 at 11 a.m. (Eastern Time) at Rannells Funeral Home,
Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown cemetery where military graveside
services will be conducted. Visitation is Sunday, May 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. EDT and Monday, May
11 one hour prior to the services in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.

Maurine Summerlin
COTTONWOOD, ARIZ — Maurine Summerlin, 91, of Cottonwood, Ariz., passed away
peacefully the afternoon of May 8, 2009 surrounded by family.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Joe Summerlin; two daughters: Sherry (James)
Rogers of Phoenix, Ariz. and Donna (Michael) Momeyer of Camp Verde, Ariz.; seven
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Laverne Geraghty (John) of Plymouth.
Before moving to Arizona in 1990, Maurine and Joe lived in Ft. Myers, Fla. for 25 years, and
Plymouth, for 20 years where they owned a dairy farm equipment business.
Her hobbies included all kinds of crafts and involvement in numerous church activities. She was
a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Plymouth, Ind.and Verde Baptist Church after moving
to Cottonwood, Ariz.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 16 at Parkside Community Church in Camp Verde.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269
S. Candy Lane Cottonwood, AZ, 86326.

John Baxter-Stickel
BREMEN — John Baxter-Stickel, 59, of Clark Street, Bremen, died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at
5:05 p.m. at Memorial Hospital of South Bend after a 1 1/2 year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Keating of South Bend; a daughter, Dawn Baxter of
Bremen; two sisters: Maureen (Mike) Newton of Bristol and Sandra (Len) Murray of Nashville,
Ind.; a brother, Lawrence Keating of South Bend and one nephew and two nieces.
Visitation will take place Thursday, May 14 from noon to 3 p.m. at Thompson-Longacher &
Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place at the funeral home Thursday at 3 p.m.
Burial will follow at Olive West cemetery, Wakarusa.
Memorials may be made to Shriners’ Hospitals or The American Cancer Society.

Delbert James Carlisle
LITHIA SPRINGS, GA. — Mr. Delbert James Carlisle, age 87, of Lithia Springs, Georgia, passed
away Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.
Delbert was born January 14, 1922, in Plymouth, the son of the late Mr. Charles Albert Carlisle
and the late Mrs. Essie Catherine Blanchard Carlisle. He married Wilma Jean Wright May 9,
1948, in Plymouth.
He worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He was also a State
Farm Agent.
Delbert was an avid reader and loved music. He often enjoyed sharing his musical talent with
other by singing in a quartet. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lithia
Springs, Ga.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mrs. Wilma Jean Wright Carlisle of Lithia Springs,
Ga.; a daughter, Judy and James McLeroy of Tyrone, Ga.; two sons, Lane and Kathleen Carlisle
of Conyers, Ga.; and Wane and Melanie Carlisle of Lithia Springs, Ga.; a daughter-in-law Susan
Welden Carlisle of Kennesaw, Ga.; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dr. Ronald Lynn Carlisle; a sister, Ruby M.
Marsh; and a brother, Darrell B. Carlisle.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, in the New Oakhill
cemetery Chapel, Plymouth, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m.
Delbert’s nephew, Rev. Tom Lee, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church of
Lithia Springs, P.O. Box 627, Lithia Springs, GA 30122 or to the donor’s choice.

Ruby B. Saltsgiver
PLYMOUTH – Ruby B. Saltsgiver, 94, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning,
May 10, 2009. She died peacefully in the company of her family at the Catherine Kasper Life
Center, Donaldson, Indiana where she has made her home for the past six years. Ruby had
lived in Cape Coral, then, Bradenton, Fla. For 31 years before returning to the Plymouth area.
She was born the daughter of William Wilson and Pearl Mae (Arnold) Hoover on March 14th
1915 in South Bend, Indiana. She along with her four siblings were raised in St. Joseph County
and she graduated with the Mishawaka High School Class of 1933.
On Dec. 3, 1934, in Mishawaka, she married Vernon C. “Salty” Saltsgiver. He would precede her
in death on Dec. 12, 1991 after 57 years together. They enjoyed traveling to different states as
Vern was a partner of Ritz Craft, Inc. Vern was in charge of opening new locations in the
growing manufactured housing industry with plants in Neligh, Nebraska, McPherson, Kansas,
Mifflinburg, Penn. And Batavia, New York. Vern retired at the age of 55, and they moved to
Florida.
Ruby loved her Westside Christian Church in Bradenton, Florida and taught the ladies to make
lap quilts for various senior retirement homes and nursing homes.
Along with being a wife, mother and homemaker, Ruby was an avid “crafter” during her life. She
enjoyed quilting, knitting, crochet, tatting, sewing, and more. She was recognized by the State of
Florida many times for her teaching of quilting to various homemaker groups and received her
Master Quilter’s certificate. She would travel many counties teaching her crafts and served as an
officer in the Florida Extension Service for many years.
Ruby is survived by her three children, Richard Vernon Saltsgiver and his wife, Marjean of
Bradenton, Fla., Thomas Marion Saltsgiver and his wife, Jo Ann, of Williamsport, Pa., and
Barbara Joan Danielson and her husband, Robert of Plymouth. Six grandchildren, eight great
grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive along with one sister, Evelyn
Fishburn of Haslett, Mich.
Those family members preceding Ruby in their “destination home” were, of course, the love of
her life, her husband; Vern, her parents; William and Pearl Hoover, a sister; Elaine Wagner, and
two brothers; Eugene and Bill Hoover.
Services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, May 16 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth where friends may visit with family members from 10
a.m. until noon. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery, South Bend.
Memorial gifts may be made to any chapter of the American Heart Association.
