Arthur O. Ringer
PLYMOUTH — Arthur O. "Art" Ringer, age 92, of Baker Street, Plymouth, Ind., passed away
Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 7:30 a.m., at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Plymouth.
Art was born November 16, 1916, in South Bend, Ind. to Ora Allen and Inez (Dreibelbis) Ringer.
On May 17, 1942, Art and Ruth Miller were united in marriage at the County Line First Brethren
Church in LaPaz, Ind. Together they raised their three children.
Art graduated, with the Class of 1935, from Riley High School, in South Bend. He also attended
Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. Art had been employed with Wilson Brothers, where they
manufactured shirts and ties, for one and a half years. He then worked for 16 years at
Studebaker’s, in South Bend, and 20 years at Sears, in South Bend, until he retired in January
of 1981.
Art enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed traveling to many
states, even Hawaii, with the love of his life, Ruth. They enjoyed their trips, for 18 years,
to Florida.
He loved to go to Disney World where he enjoyed rides like; the Tower of Terror, Space
Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. They also liked traveling to Bush Gardens, in Florida. Art
devoted daily time to read his Bible. He spent many years teaching Sunday School and was a
member of Sunrise Chapel, in Plymouth.
Art is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ringer; their daughters: Gloria (Mike) Maxwell of
Plymouth and Barbara (Fred) Schafer of Mishawaka, Ind.; their son, Dwight (Marcia) Ringer of
Plymouth; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Jeanne (Mrs.
Harold) Ringer.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Don and Louise Ringer,
Carl and Mary Ringer, and Harold Ringer; and an infant sister.
Funeral services for Art will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Sunrise Chapel,
11802 Lincoln Highway, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ruskin Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in New
Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth.
A time of visiting with the Ringer family will be Monday, May 25, 2009, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the
Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563, and from 9:30 a.m. until
the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Sunrise Chapel or to the Indiana
Lions Eye Bank, c/o Indiana University Medical Center, 702 Rotary Circle, Indianapolis, IN,
46202-2864.

Anna Lehocky
PLYMOUTH — Anna Lehocky, 89, of 16476 West 12 B Road, Plymouth, passed away at 8:50
a.m., on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at Grace Village Healthcare Center in Winona Lake.
Anna was born on March 11, 1920, in Czechoslovakia to Aloys and Maria (Dugat) Laurinc. Anna
and Steve F. Lehocky were united in marriage on November 23, 1940, in Gary. Steve preceded
Anna in death on Jan. 12, 1989.
Anna came to the United States when she was 16 years old and had been a resident of
Plymouth since 1977, moving from Gary. Anna was a homemaker and belonged to the First
Catholic Slovak Ladies Association and the Zenska Jednota Organization. She was a member of
Saint Michael Catholic Church, where she helped with meals for the church, and also helped
with the Swiss Steak Dinner Fund Raiser. She helped at the Pilot News by stuffing inserts into
the newspapers, another way that provided funds for the church.
Anna always had a large garden and wanted to share the produce with everyone she could.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Karen (Mark) Schneider of Warsaw; her son, Lawrence (Rita)
Lehocky of Broomfield, Colo.; and her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Lehocky of Portage. Also
surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Anna was preceded in death by
her husband, Steve; her son, Steve Lehocky; and her daughter, Helen Minnich.
The Mass of Christian Burial, for Anna, will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Michael Catholic
Church, Friday May 29, 2009, with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be in
Calumet Park cemetery in Merrillville.
A time of visiting with the Lehocky family will be on Thursday May 28, 2009, from 3 p.m. to 8
p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth.
Rosary will be prayed on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Choice Allen Miller
ROCHESTER — Choice Allen "Al" Miller, 79, of Rochester, Blvd., Rochester, died Wednesday,
May 20, 2009 at 9:20 a.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He is survived by his wife Grace; daughter, Elizabeth (Ron) Mathias of Rochester; a son, Rick
(Linda) Miller of Rochester; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Friday, May 22, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services
Saturday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St. Rochester, Ind.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at the Rochester IOOF cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hope Hospice Fulton County through the Northern Indiana
Community Foundation.

Richard W. Schaeffer
BREMEN — Richard W. Schaeffer, 80, of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, died Wednesday, May
20, 2009 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Schaeffer of Lake of the Woods, Bremen; daughters: Lynn
Schaeffer of Plymouth and Valerie (Mike) Scuillo of Henderson, Nev.; stepsons: Robert
Eberhardt of Oklahoma and Richard (Debbie) Eberhardt of Bremen; stepdaughter, Barbara
(Frank) Washnock of Wyatt; brother, John (Betty) Schaeffer of Plymouth; sisters: Susan Burk of
Peru and Judy (Lynn) De Fries of Elkhart; three grandchildren; four step grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Bremen VFW Post #8972 Parking Lot Fund.
The Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, is in charge of the arrangements.

Jane Bowen
ROCHESTER — Jane Bowen, 70, of Westwood Lane, Rochester, died at 1:02 p.m. Thursday,
May 21, 2009 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind.
She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie (John) Hoke of LaPorte; three sons: Daniel Bowen of
Rochester, Jeff (Julia) Bowen of Plymouth and Bruce (Wendy) Bowen of Culver; 16
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lorelei Wilhite of Avon Park, Fla. And Sherri
(Scott) Moran of Oswego, Ind and a brother, Dorian Back of Atlanta, Ga.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W.
18th St., Rochester two hours prior to the funeral services.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Rochester IOOF cemetery.

Eugene R. Myers
WALKERTON — Eugene R. Myers, 79, of Walkerton, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 in his home.
He is survived by his wife, Lois “Cookie” Picl; daughters, Yvonne of California, Janet and Krystal
of Indiana and Tracy Ann of Illinois; three sons, Daniel of California, Eugene of Illinois and Phillip
of Indiana; many grandchildren; two sisters and one brother.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Friday, May 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT at Rannells
Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of LaPorte County.

Sister Rosemary Wagner
DONALDSON — Sister Rosemary Wagner of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, 92, died
Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 9:05 a.m. at the Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson, Ind.
She is survived by two brothers: Joseph (Hildegarde) Wagner of Chicago, Ill. And Francis
(Elizabeth) Wagner of Arlington, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the Catherine Kasper Home
Chapel. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, May 25, 2009 in the chapel.
Burial will follow at Mount Carmel cemetery, Donaldson.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, Ind., is in charge of arrangements.

Esther O. Hernandez
PLYMOUTH — Esther O. Hernandez, 96, 11th Road, Plymouth, passed away Friday, May 22,
2009, at 8:20 a.m., at Miller's Merry Manor, in Plymouth.
Esther was born August 9, 1912, in Santa Rosa, Texas, to Ecayetno and Emilia (Sanchez)
Olwarez. She moved to Plymouth, from Texas, in 1967.
Esther worked for Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and Holy Cross Parkview Hospital,
Plymouth, in the housekeeping department. She retired from the hospital after 30 plus years of
employment.
Esther was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She
was a member of Saint Michael Catholic Church.
Esther is survived by her daughters, Juanita Marquez of Plymouth and Rebecca Rodriquez of
Plymouth; her brother, Cruze (Elefenia) Olwarez of Santa Rosa; 13 grandsons; four
granddaughters; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Marcos Hernandez; her daughter, Herminia Montemayor;
four brothers; and four sisters.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at Saint
Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Father William Kummer officiating. Burial will be in Santa
Rosa.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the VAN GILDER
FUNERAL HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563. The rosary will be prayed, on
Wednesday at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Sally Ray
ARGOS — Sally Ray, 70, of Argos, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at 12:24 p.m. at her residence
She is survived by three daughters: Debbie Spoor and Randy of Plymouth; Donna Stiles and
Jamie of Argos; and Cheri Bottorff and Phil of Knox; two sons: Steve Ray and Rhonda of
Kokomo, and Tim Ray of Plymouth; as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;
two sisters: Annabell Slone and Willa Slone both of Warsaw; and five brothers: Lonnie
Robinson, James Robinson, Ricky Robinson, and Gary Robinson all of Martin, Ky. and
Claude Robinson of Warsaw.
A celebration of the life of Mary Sally Ray will be Wednesday, May 27 at 2 p.m. at the Good
Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
The Rev. Frank Whitaker will officiate the services assisted by Rev. Albert Whitaker and Rev.
Robie Whitaker.
Friends may visit with her family from 2: to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is at New Oak Hill cemetery,
Plymouth.

Riley Testerman
BREMEN — Riley Testerman, 65, of Bremen, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at 5 p.m. at his
residence.
He is survived by his wife Florence; a son, William Johnson Sr. of South Bend; a grandson, two
brothers and a sister.
No services or visitation is planned.
Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R. 331, Bremen assisted with arrangements.

William M. Boots
CHICAGO — William M. Boots, 66, of Chicago, Ill., died May 23, 2009.
He is survived by nieces: Roshonda (James) Dudlicek and Jessica Talcrico.
A memorial service will be Thursday, June 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Olson Burke/Sullivan Funeral &
Cremation Center, 6471 N. Northwest Highway, Chicago. A graveside service will be Friday,
June 19 at 1 p.m. CDT at Grovertown cemetery.
Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, is handling local arrangements.

Howell E. Hemminger
BREMEN — Howell “Holly” E. Hemminger, 83, of Bremen died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 12:03
a.m. at his home.
He was born June 19, 1925 in Bremen to Floyd and Ruth (Strycker) Hemminger.
He married Cathaleen Rouch on June 29, 1947.
He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Japan. He was a previous employee and owner
of Kenny’s Super Foods, and former Marshall County Assessor.
He was a member of the Bremen Church of the Brethren where he was a deacon for more than
50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Cathaleen; daughters, Marianne (Tobby) Hubbs of Bremen; Kelley
Leeper of Goshen; son, Scott (Marisa) Hemminger of Florida, 14 grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren, as well as a brother, Jerry Hemminger of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Dan, and one brother, Carlyle.
Services will be private for the family. Burial will be in Bremen cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday, May 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen Church of the Brethren Building Fund or the
Center for Hospice.
