NAPPANEE — Krystal M. Ellis-Fulk, 40, of Nappanee, died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at her residence.
She is survived by daughters: Shana Marie Baxter and Brittany Ann Baxter, both of Nappanee;
son, Bryce Jay Clouse of Nappanee; granddaughter, Lily Reaker; sisters, Debra (Jim) Ryman of
Nappanee, Tereasa Hartley of Walkerton, Annette Ellis of Mentone; brothers, Rick Ellis of
Nappanee and Garth Ellis of Wakarusa.
Visitation will be Friday, May 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral
Home, Nappanee. Services will be Saturday, May 30 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be
at South Union cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Crystal Ellis-Fulk Memorial Fund.

Lavina Nerva Cunningham
PLYMOUTH — Lavina Nerva Cunningham, 74, formerly of Plymouth, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 in Elkhart.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Louis Cunningham; daughters, Theresa K (Toribio)
Avila, Cathy A. (Rafael) Rosas, Tammy L. (Russell) Beckley and Laura R. Rosas; and son,
Robert L. Cunningham Jr.
Visitation is Sunday, May 31 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.
Services are Monday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tyner cemetery.

Roger Reese
PLYMOUTH — Roger Reese, 67, of Plymouth, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Bremen
Healthcare, Bremen, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Reese; a son, Ronnie Reese of Miami Beach, Fla.; a daughter,
Elizabeth Reese of Plymouth; a sister, Arlene (Paul) Ingerham of Lafayette and brothers: Gale
(Shirley) Reese of Plymouth, Ellsworth (Joan) Reese of Olympia, Wash., Kent (Arleen) Reese of
Plyouth, Dan (Annette) Reese of Milton, Wisc. And Omer (Beverly) Reese of Evanston, Ill.
Visitation will take place Monday, June 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services will take place Monday at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
Burial will follow at New Oakhill cemetery, Ply-mouth.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

William Elson McChesney
MISHAWAKA — William Elson McChesney, 60, died Friday at Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He is survived by his mother, Iris McChesney of Mishawaka; and sisters, Teresa (Tom) Cook of
South Bend, Sherrie (Robert) Klotz of Mishawaka and Debra (Michael) Curl of Osceola.
Military graveside services were held May 26, at Fair cemetery, North Liberty.
Memorial service followed for friends.

Marvin E. Shumucker
NAPPANEE — Marvin E. Schmucker, 73, of U.S. 6 west, Nappanee, died Friday, May 29, 2009
at 6:15 p.m. at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Etta Schmucker; sons: Glen (Becky) Schmucker of Nappanee,
Edward (Susan) Schmucker of Bremen and Lamar (special friend - Marilyn Miller) Schmucker of
Nappanee; daughters: Kathryn (Devon) Slabaugh of New Paris, Virginia (Omer) Miller of Milford,
Laura (Marion) Miller of Nappanee, Julia (Floyd) Miller of Milford, Colleen (Kenny) Yoder of
Shipshewana and Rosanna (Toby) Troyer of Bremen; 40 grandchildren, four great grandchildren;
brothers: Freeman Schmucker of of Leesburg and Levi (Millie) Schmucker of
Goshen; sisters: Edna (Dan) Stoltzfus of Holtwood, Pa., Malinda (Leroy) Hochstetler of Bremen,
Mahala (John) Troyer of Nappanee and Salina (John) Yoder of Shipshewana; and a brother-inlaw,
Vernon Yoder of Leesburg.
Visitation took place Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31 at the family's residence.
Funeral services will take place Monday, June 1, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the family residence.
Burial will follow at Weldy cemetery.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, assisted with arrangements.

Edith Cullison-Smith
PLYMOUTH — Edith Cullison-Smith, 91, of Plymouth, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Miller's
Merry Manor, Plymouth, Ind.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay Bonner of Whitestown, Ind.; a son, Dr. Thomas R.
Cullison of Bethesda, Md.; a sister, Norma Haley of San Antonio, Texas and brothers: Larry A.
Whinery of Huntington, Ind. And Gene Whinery of Warren, Ind.
Visitation took place Sunday, May 31, 2009 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Plymouth Church of the
Brethren, 1130 N. Michigan St. Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services took place at 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Burial followed at Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth, Ind.
Memorials may be made to Marshall County Historical Society.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth was in charge of arrangements.

Dale P. Kirkdoffer
PLYMOUTH — Dale P. Kirkdoffer, 68, a resident of Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home in
Plymouth, died at 12:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009.
He is survived by his cousins and Violet and Curtis Richardson of Argos who has looked after his
affairs for years.
A grave side service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 in the Union Center cemetery
north of Nappanee.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, Bourbon, is in charge of local arrangements.

Olive M. Olson
PLYMOUTH — Olive M. Olson, 86, of Plymouth, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Catherine
Kasper Life Center, Donaldson, Ind. of natural causes.
She is survived by her husband, Karl Olson; son, Allen (Vonda) Olson of Plymouth, and a
grandson.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth with a Rosary prayer service at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic
Church, 612 N. Center St. Plymouth.
Entombment will follow at new Oakhill Mausoleum, Plymouth.
Memorials may be made to St. Michael's Catholic Church or to The Altar Rosary Society.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth was in charge of local arrangements.

Sister Lorine Huelskamp
DONALDSON — Sister Lorine Huelskamp, PHJC, 86, of Donaldson, died Sunday, May 31, 2009
at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
She is survived by sister, Sister David Huelskamp, PHJC.
Visitation is Wednesday, June 3 from 4:30 to 9 p.m. at Ancilla Domini Chapel, Donaldson. A
prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. Services will be Thursday, June 4 at 11 a.m. at
the chapel. Burial will be at Mount Carmel cemetery, Donaldson.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, is in charge of the arrangements.

Mark E. Thacker
TIPPECANOE — Mark E. Thacker, 90, a resident of 5388 E. 15th Rd., Tippecanoe, passed
away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in his home in the care of his family.
Mark was born the son of Otis Thacker Sr. and Carrie Mae Shoemaker Thacker on Oct. 5, 1918
at Bourbon, where he has resided his entire life.
He was known for his strong work ethic until a month ago when he became ill. He was a farmer
and he was a well known craftsman doing all kinds of handyman work. He did carpenter work,
painting and general repairs.
He was a great fisherman. He played a number of musical instruments by ear and played with
various local bands. He was a frequent visitor of the restaurants in Argos where the “Liars Club”
would meet for coffee and stories.
Mark was married on Aug. 10, 1941 to Jane Thompson who passed away Jan. 14, 2005.
Survivors include his three daughters: Mary Lou (Walter) Grohowski of Lake James, N.C.,
Elizabeth (Talmage) Hanson of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Dr. Terri Jo (Doug) Williams of Canton,
Ga.; his two sons: James Thacker of Bourbon and Marvin (Dinah) Thacker of Tippecanoe.; 15
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Martha Milner
of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4 in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral
Home, 115 S. Main St. Bourbon, with Rev. Mark Day officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, in the Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Bethel cemetery west of Bourbon, Indiana.
Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Maxine Conley
WINAMAC — Maxine Conley, 76, of Winamac, formerly of Rochester, died at 1:30 a.m.
Monday, June 1, 2009 at Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.
She is survived by daughters: Tammy Brown of Culver and Melody (Dan) Pine of Bruce Lake;
sons: Joseph (Cindy) Conley of Rochester and Troy (Jane) Conley of Akron; six grandchildren;
sister, Imogene (Chester) Coddle of Claypool; and brother, Merl Jackson of Buchanan, Mich.
Private family services will be held.
Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of the arrangements

Raymond L. (Bud) Ryan
PLYMOUTH — Raymond L. (Bud) Ryan, 81, of Westgate Avenue, Plymouth, passed away
Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 8:40 a.m. at his home.
Raymond was born October 29, 1927, in Hammond, to James and Ethel (Adams) Ryan.
Raymond married Madge France on July 21, 1958, in South Bend. Madge passed away May 9, 2001.
Raymond served his country in WWII in the Navy. He worked for the Bendix Corporation, in
South Bend, for 38 years. He was a member of the Plymouth Church of God.
Bud and Madge lovingly cared for foster children for 15 years.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Diana Nez of New Mexico; his sons, Ed (Josie) Trimmer
of Schererville, Wade (Betty) Ryan of Columbia, S.C., Van Ryan of Plymouth and Michael
(Myria) Ryan of Florida, his sister, Donna Kamp of Argos; and his brother, Alfred (Barbara) Ryan
of Fort Wayne.
Also surviving are several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several nieces, and
several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge; his daughter, Shirley Trimmer; two brothers; and
one sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at VAN GILDER FUNERAL
HOME, in Plymouth, with the Rev. Wayne Mikel officiating.
Burial will be in New Oak Hill cemetery, Plymouth. Graveside Military Honors will be presented
by the American Legion Post #27 of Plymouth.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL
HOME, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN, 46563.

Thomas E. Smith
ROCHESTER — Thomas E. Smith, 55, of Rochester, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009.
Tom is survived by two daughters: Glenda Smith of Evansville, Alicia Smith of North
Manchester, a sister:Tammy and Paul Blackof Gainsville, Fla.; five brothers: Timothy and Lottie
Smithof North Manchester, Terry and Brenda Smith of Athens, Todd and Loretta Smith of North
Manchester, Theodore Smith of Merrillville and Trevor and Donetta Smith of South Whitley, as
well as nieces and nephews.
A celebration of the life of Tom Smith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6, in the Good Family
Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.
Friends may visit with the family from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Interment will be in the Athens cemetery.

Edward "Ray", Sr. Hostetler
WALKERTON — Edward “Ray” Hostetler Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009 in his
home after an illness. Ray was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Walkerton to Edward R. and Evelyn M.
(Gray) Hostetler and lived most of his life in the Walkerton area. On May 4, 1949 in Roseland, he
was married to the former Delores Adams, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters:
Roberta (Victor) Quick of Niles, Mich. and Connie (Bud) Marek of Rockport, Texas; four
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He
was a member of the North Liberty VFW Post #1954 and a past-member of the Walkerton
American Legion. He was a former employee of Bendix Corp. in South Bend, the owner of Ray’s
Radiator Shop in Walkerton and a former Reserve Officer for the Walkerton Police Department.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. (Eastern Time) at Morris cemetery, Walkerton
with Pastor Tom Padberg officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted. Rannells
Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, is handling arrangements.
