Janice G. Adkins

MUNCIE -- Janice Gail (Parkham) Adkins, 67, died Aug. 9, 2003, at Ball Memorial Hospital.

She worked in area nursing homes for 27 years.

Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Donald Adkins; three sons, Donnie Adkins, Timothy (wife, Claudia) Adkins and Ronnie (wife, Kathy) Adkins; two daughters, Christine Adkins and Tammie Couch; four brothers, Jimmie Parkham, Thomas (wife, Alice) Parkham, Ralph Hannon and Chester Foust; four sisters, Wanda (husband, Clayton) Reagan, Brenda Bush, Becky (husband, Danny) Little and Cathy Rairden; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in The Meeks Mortuary Chapel, 415 E. Washington St., Muncie, officiated by Pastor Carl Stone. Burial will take place at Jones Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the Thursday service at the funeral home.

Donna L. Bangle

SHIRLEY -- Donna Lynn Bangle, 33, died Aug. 8, 2003, in Delaware County. Arrangements are pending at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, Anderson.

Carolyn J. Davis

Oct. 8, 1925 -- Aug. 8, 2003

WINCHESTER -- Carolyn J. Davis, 77, died Aug. 8, 2003, at Community Hospital Anderson.

She was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Union City, the daughter of Elvin R. and Stella (Boggs) Bennett.

She was a 1943 graduate of Saratoga High School. She sang in the school choir and at other public events. She was also a graduate of Indiana Business College in Fort Wayne.

On April 18, 1947, she married Lee Nelson "Bill" Davis in Saratoga.

She worked as a secretary in Indianapolis; was assistant office manager at L. Bennett Davis Family Dentistry in Anderson; and in 1953, after the birth of a child, retired from Overmyer Mould Corp. in Winchester and became a mother and homemaker.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Winchester, where she sang in the choir. She was a Cub Scout den mother; and for a number of years, a volunteer with the Community Concert Series. She was an avid golfer; past champion at the Winchester Golf Club and a member of O.L.G.A. She was also an accomplished bridge player and a faithful sports fan of her son and grandchildren, attending many sporting events.

Survivors include a son, Dr. L. Bennett (wife, Molly) Davis of Anderson; her brother, E.L. "Jack" Bennett of Louisville, Ky.; her sister, Evelyn Pursley of Winchester; grandson, Drew Davis, and two granddaughters, Katie Davis and Jillian Davis, all of Anderson; four nephews, Jim Bennett, John Bennett, Dr. Michael Pursley and Jan Pursley; and two nieces, Jenny Bennett-Dodge and Jane (Bennett) McDowell;

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lee Nelson "Bill" Davis; her father, Elvin R. Bennett; her mother, Stella (Boggs) Bennett; a sister, Barbara Bennett; and a brother, Dennis L. Bennett.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, 248 E. South St., Winchester, officiated by the Rev. Bill Haworth. Burial will take place at Fountain Park Cemetery, Winchester.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Richard G. Morgan

Richard G. Morgan, 76, of Anderson, died Aug. 10, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Arrangements are pending at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, Anderson.

Sharon K. Parker

July 15, 1945 -- Aug. 10, 2003

ALEXANDRIA -- Sharon K. Parker, 58, died Aug. 10, 2003, at Community Hospital Anderson.

She was born July 15, 1945, the daughter of Mason and Anita (Wagner) Pritchard.

On Oct. 30, 1980, she married Al "Babe" Park.

She had been employed at the Spirit Shoppe in Alexandria.

She was a member of the Chesterfield American Legion Auxiliary; the Alexandria Eagles, Anderson AMVETS and 40 & 8 in Anderson. She loved spending time with family and friends and she was an avid card player.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Park, who died in November of 1984.

Survivors include a daughter, Lori (husband, Dave) Helton of Cicero; a son, Andy (wife, Trisha) Williams of Tennessee; a daughter, Anita Haseman (and her fiancé, Bart) of Elwood; a stepson, Steve Parker of Elwood; a stepdaughter, Candie Hull of Summitville; seven grandchildren, David and Whitney Helton, Ryan, Kyle and Kylee William, Cheyenne Ball, and Joshlyn Haseman; several other stepchildren and stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Also surviving is a special friend, Nancy Harris.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Gary Williams; and a brother, Trever Pritchard.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St., Elwood, officiated by the Rev. Mark Joyner. Burial will take place at Elwood Cemetery.

Visitation hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lois A. Richardson

Sept. 11, 1929 -- Aug. 8, 2003

ELWOOD -- Lois Ann Richardson, 73, passed away Aug. 8, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Elwood, the daughter of Darcel F. and Fern (Caldwell) Stack.

On Feb. 15, 1952, she married Charles E. Richardson.

In 1984 she retired from her position in the loan department at Security Bank. Prior to that, she had been employed as an operator by the Indiana Bell Telephone Co.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elwood.

Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Richardson of Elwood; a daughter, Cathy and her husband, Jerry Morton of Anderson; a son, Bruce Richardson of Elwood; close family friend, Robert G. Mountcastle of Elwood; her sister, Karen Courtney of Elwood; three grandchildren, Brooke "Tam" and her husband, Jason Blanchard of Muncie, and Zachary Morton and McKenzie Morton, both of Anderson; and a great-grandson, Jasten Erik Blanchard of Muncie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Darcel F. and Fern (Caldwell) Stack.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home, 415 S. Anderson St., Elwood, officiated by the Rev. Cindy Osgood of First United Methodist Church, Elwood. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Elwood.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the Thursday service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. John's Hospice of Anderson, through the funeral home.

Ralph W. Ritchie

May 23, 1920 -- Aug. 9, 2003

MUNCIE -- Ralph W. Ritchie, 83, died Aug. 9, 2003, at Community Care following an extended illness.

He was born May 23, 1920, in Harrison Township, the son of George and Della Branson Ritchie. He attended Harrison Township School and enjoyed all of his life as a grain and livestock producer.

Mr. Ritchie attended Corinth Congregational Christian Church and was a member of Indiana Farm Bureau Co-op.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years whom he married June 19, 1941, Anna Draper Ritchie; his son, Dale (wife, Teresa) Crowder of Muncie; three grandchildren, Brittney, Ashley and Dale Crowder Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Della in 1958 and George in 1966; two sisters, Mary Smith in 1991 and Vada Costin in 2000; a brother, Claude Ritchie, in 1992; and his brother-in-law, Willis Draper, in 1997.

Services will be held in The Meeks Mortuary Chapel at 10 a.m.. Wednesday with Pastor Frank Crotinger officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and/or one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Thomas Bailey

Thomas Bailey, 74, died at his residence March 28, 2002. Arrangements are pending at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.

Richard Bell

Richard Bell, 74, of Southdale Tower, Anderson, died March 27, 2002, at his home of a sudden illness.

Born Oct. 21, 1927, in Chicago, he had lived in Anderson most of his life. He was a very well-known barber at Your Barber Shop in Anderson. He retired in 1996.

He was well-known as "Baby Boy." He served in the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors include three children, Jayri D. Bell of East Los Angeles, Sylest R. Bell and fiancé James McKinney of Anderson, and Chance D. Poole of Anderson; two brothers, Byron Bell and wife Charlotte Smart Bell and Leslie Bell, all of Chicago; sister, Pauline Bell Hudson of Chicago; grandson, Tyson McKinney of Anderson; granddaughter, Bridney McKinney of Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Truly and Jennie (Blackmon) Bell; and one brother, and special friend, Janie Poole Bell.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St. with the Rev. Robert Terry officiating.

His ashes will be scattered at a later date at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Hershel Branderburg

ORESTES -- Hershel Branderburg, 76, died March 28, 2002, at his residence in Orestes. Arrangements are pending at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood.

Martha E. Carpenter

SOUTH PASADENA, Fla. -- Martha Elizabeth Carpenter, 85, formerly of Anderson, died March 25, 2002, in South Pasadena, Fla.

She was born Aug. 29, 1916, in Anderson and moved from Anderson to South Pasadena, Fla., in 1981. She was owner/operator of Paul's Beauty Shop.

She is survived by a sister, Jackie (husband Carl) King of Citrus Heights, Calif.; nephew, Kevin King of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Ruth Chrism of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carpenter, on Sept. 11, 1986; brothers, Richard Chism and Charles Chrism; and nephew, Jack King.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, with the Rev. Marvin Baker officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, Anderson.

Stanley F. Howell

LAPEL -- Stanley F. Howell, 72, passed away March 28, 2002, at his residence in Lapel following an extended illness.

He was born on March 10, 1930, in Condor, Alberta, Canada, to Fay and Linda (Cook) Howell. He resided in Condor until he came to the United States in 1946 to live in Lapel.

He worked briefly at Sterling Glass and National Tile before going to work at Delco Remy in Anderson in October 1948. He retired from Delco Remy in 1981 after 33 years of employment.

He was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church and the Anderson Repeater Club.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marjorie (Bless) Howell; two daughters, Terry (husband Ray) Brooks of Alexandria and Linda (husband Don) Bane of Noblesville; son, Stanley Howell II; stepson, Hobart (fiancee Michelle Slaughter) Ballard of Mitchell; stepdaughter, Marsha (husband Garry) Scherer of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Ethel Green of Lapel; brother, Ernest Howell of Lapel; grandchildren, Mike Bagley of Madill, Okla., Tia Bagley of Noblesville, Desiree Brooks of Alexandria, Jessie, Darci, Toby and Holly Howell; stepgrandchildren, Tara and Douglas Scherer of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Chelsey Pilkington of Noblesville and Taber and Traven Bagley of Madill, Okla.; stepgreat-granddaughter, Chyanna Scherer of Atlanta, Ga.; and two sisters-in-law, Nora Howell of Pendleton and Bernie Howell of Lapel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rosalind Howell; two brothers, Ace and Walter Howell; and a brother-in-law, Hilbert "Hib" Green.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel, with the Rev. Mark Helm officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ford Street United Methodist Church Bereavement Committee.
