KNOX — Charlotte D. Williams, 62, of Knox, died Thursday, July 16, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Francis “Perry” Williams; children: Cheryl Selby of Knox, Johnny
Strong of Knox, Tammy (Luis) Guito of LaPorte, James (Jessie) Strong of Plymouth, Timothy
(Amber) Strong of of Knox; step-children: Jeffrey Williams of Valparaiso, Denise Will of
Valparaiso, Karen (Bob) Gregorash of Valparaiso and Christine Campitti of South Bend; a sister,
Mildred (Sanford) Suggs of Alabama, and brother, Travis (Alice) Price of Alabama; 19
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday, July 19 from 1 to 6 p.m. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, 153 E. Washington
St. Knox.
Funeral services took place Monday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial followed at Crown Hill cemetery.

Joan (March) Piazza
NOBLESVILLE — Joan (March) Piazza, 73, Noblesville, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at
home. Born May 8, 1936 in Fulton, Missouri, she was the daughter of David and Lois (Riley)
March of Fulton, Mo.
Joan married Rev. Charles T. Piazza in 1962. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2007.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Noblesville, where she was an active member.
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League was very dear to her and she served as Christian
Growth chairman and also served on Christ’s outreach board.
She graduated from Truman University in 1959 with a BS in Education and in 1965 with a
Masters degree in Elementary Education. In 1991 she attended Ball State University in Muncie
where she received a Special Education certificate. She taught school in Springfield, Ill., and
Plymouth, Muncie, and Gas City, Ind. For seven years, she was a substitute teacher for Special
Education with the Noblesville Schools.
Rev. and Mrs. Piazza were blessed with seven sons: Rev. Adrian (Corinne) Piazza, Dr. Brian
(Annika) Piazza, Chuck (Melody) Piazza, Doug (Karen) Piazza, Eric, Frederic, and Gary. Also
surviving are 10 grandchildren and a brother, Joe (Mary) March of Tatum, N.M.
Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church in
Noblesville, with Rev. Kurt Gremel officiating. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 3 p.m.
prior to the service. Burial will be at Oak Grove cemetery in Hillsboro, Ill. Friday, July 24 at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dakota Boys Ranch in Minot, N.D.;
Worship for Shut-ins broadcast from Ft. Wayne; or the Christ Lutheran Youth Fund, c/o Christ
Lutheran Church.

Julie Ann Ruggles-Champion
WALKERTON — Julie Ann Ruggles-Champion, 54, died Saturday, July 18, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend
She is survived by her husband, Tim Champion; her mother, Patsy Ruggles, of Walkerton; one
sister, Mickey (Mike) Fell of South Bend; one brother, Ted (Donna) Ruggles of Gasquet, Calif;
two step-daughters, Melisa (Joe) Hensler of Hamlet and Katie Champion of Koontz Lake; two
step-grandchildren, Hayden Hensler and Tia Champion; nieces and nephew, and mother-in-law,
Peggy Champion, of Mishawaka.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. EDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel
and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be
Wednesday at 11 a.m. (Eastern Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel with
Pastor Dennis Wenzel officiating.
Burial will be at the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, Donaldson. Memorial contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society

Ronald Eugene Bennet
KEWANNA — Ronald Eugene Bennett, 71, of Kewanna, formerly of Hamlet, died Sunday, July
19, 2009 in Elkhart Hospice House.
He is survived by his wife, Normale; one son, Rick Bennett of Grovertown; one daughter, Vickey
Kelver of Union Mills; four granddaughters and one sister, Denessa Hamilton of LaPorte.
Visitation till take place Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. (CDT) and Wednesday one hour
prior to the service at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Ronald Eugene Bennett

Terry Lee Moriarty
ARGOS — Terry Lee Moriarty, 67, of Argos, died Sunday, July 19, at 7:30 a.m. at Elkhart
Rehabilitation, Elkhart, after a lengthy illness.
He was born July 22, 1941 in Argos, to Clyde and Marjorie Moriarty and lived all his life in the
Marshall County area. He was a farmer for many years, and worked for the Indiana State
Highway Department.
Terry was a 1959 Argos High School graduate. In high school, Terry held the mile run track
record for many years and received several letters and trophies for his activities. He was a
member of FFA and 4-H.
Terry was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, now the Argos Bible Church.
He is survived by a brother, James of Argos and a sister, Linda (Leonard) Fuller of Wakarusa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother John of Argos; and two sisters, Shirley
Knezevich and Marilyn Smiley, both of Argos.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday July 21, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday July 19, 2009 at the funeral home with the Rev. Phil
Platz officiating.
Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery, Argos.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos.

Russell J. Salyer
ROCHESTER — Russell J. Salyer, 55, of Rochester, died at 6 a.m. Sunday, July 19, 2009 in
North Judson.
He is survived by sons: Clinton (Penny Howard) Salyer of Rochester, Russell Salyer Jr. of
Rochester, Matthew Salyer of Culver and Jason (Candy) Salyer of Rochester; daughter, Tonya
(Jamey) Warner of Plymouth; brother, Linville Salyer of Salyersville, Ky.; sisters: Oleta (Randy)
Bohec of North Judson, Geneva Burton of Knox and Betty Waldorf of Greenville, Ky.; and 12
grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver,
and Friday, July 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Magoffin Co. Funeral Home, Salyersville, Ky. Services
are Saturday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at the Carver Baptist Church, Salyersville, Ky. Burial will be at
Warnie Bailey cemetery, Salyersville, Ky.
Memorials may be made to Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919 in Culver.

Marion Lucille Shafer
Marion Lucille Shafer went to her heavenly home on July 19, 2009. Marion was born Jan. 10,
1915 in Cass City, Mich. to Frank and Carrie (Herr) Gordon who proceeded her in death.
Marion was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be remembered for her love
of family and willingness to help those in need. On June 14, 1934, Marion and Paul Shafer were
united in marriage in Pontiac, Michigan. To this union was born Paula (Tom) Wahl of Bancroft,
Michigan, Doris Warstler (deceased), Nancy Reed (Frederick) of Maryland and Martha (Richard)
Dean of Argos, Indiana. For many years she was a nurse’s aid for the Byron and Durand
hospitals, retiring in 1966.
Marion was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great
grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, two grandsons, husband Paul and
daughter Doris.
A celebration of life will be held July 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Bancroft First Congregational
Church in Bancroft, Mich. Marion will be laid to rest at Fremont cemetery in Bancroft, Mich..
The family will receive family and friends at the Earl-Grossman Funeral home on Wednesday,
July 22, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. 208 N. Michigan Street, Argos.
They also will receive family and friends at the Bancroft First Congregational ChurchFriday, July
24, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 217 S. Shiawassee St., Bancroft, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Bancroft Congregational Church or World
Hope International.

M.L. "Doc" Chambers
MEDARYVILLE, Ind. — M. L. "Doc" Chambers, 71, of Medaryville, formerly of Lake Station, died
Monday, July 20, 2009 at 11:50 p.m. in Hobart, Ind.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry Chambers Knight of Medaryville; one sister, Mary Hart of
Hobart; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Monday, July 27 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. (EST) at Nusbaum-Elkin
Funeral Home, Walkerton.
Graveside services will take place Tuesday, July 28 at 11 a.m. at Goodway Baptist Church
cemetery at 14065 W. 400 N., Medaryville.

Cynthia Rose Sullivan
PLYMOUTH – Cynthia Rose Sullivan, 57, of Hawthorn Road, Plymouth died on Monday July 20, 2009
in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend at 10:50 p.m.
She was born Feb. 21, 1952 in Plymouth to Wayne and MaeJune Mitchell Sullivan Sr. She
attended Plymouth Schools.
Cynthia was a homemaker and enjoyed steam engine shows, gardening and her flowers. She
loved watching nature and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her fiancé, Charles W. Hartle, of Plymouth; two daughters and their children,
Robyn (Jerry) Wheat, with children Ashleah, Amber, and Allyson Wheat all of Plymouth; and
Dawn (Mark) Becker, with children Andrea and her son Aaron, LeAnn, Devon and Brandon
Becker all of Walkerton.
Four sisters and eight brothers survive as well they are Kimberlee (Don) Greer, Culver;
Stephanie (David) Roahrig, Candi (Bradford) Long both of Plymouth; Michelle (Kris) Tuttle,
Syracuse; Gary (Ginny) Sullivan, Arizona; Kevin (Deb) Sullivan, Florida; Wayne (Viola) Sullivan,
William (Sue) Sullivan, Mitchell (Kimm) Sullivan, Brian Sullivan, Todd (Geri Jo) Sullivan, and
Jamie (Audra) Sullivan all of Plymouth.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles.
A time of sharing with Cynthia’s family will be held on Friday July 25, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
A funeral service officiated by Ed Friberg will be held on Saturday July 25, at 11 a.m. in the
funeral home. Burial will follow in New Oakhill cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial contribution in honor of Cynthia may be sent to Riley Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s.

Edna M. Taber
CULVER — Edna M Taber, 89, of Culver passed away at 6:04 p. m. July 20, 2009 at home.
Edna was born on Feb 21, 1920 in Rich Grove Township in Pulaski County, Ind. to August and
Johanna (Hoeckelberg) Tetzloff. She was married on July 11, 1945 in North Judson to William
W. Taber. He preceded her in death in 1991.
Edna was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Culver. She gave 32 years of
service to the Culver-Union Township Public Library. She loved working crossword puzzles and
feeding the birds. She also loved cats.
Edna is survived by her sons: Robert E Taber of Plymouth and James (Cynthia) and William L.
Taber of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren: Matthew (Casey) Taber and Jaime Taber, both of
Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
A time of sharing with the family will be held Friday, July 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wesley
United Methodist Church, Culver. Rev. Larry Saunders will officiate services at 1 p.m. at the
church.
Memorials may be given to Wesley United Methodist Church or to REAL Services in Culver.
The Bonine-Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.
