Beryl A. Jones

Beryl A. Jones, 81, of Anderson, died March 27, 2002, at St. John's Medical Center after an extended illness. He retired as a division buyer in 1979 from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors after 36 1/2 years of service.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann Crews and Billie Lou Massey; a son, Todd Jones; two brothers, Hoy and wife Ollie Jones and Keith and wife Lidya Jones; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel. Burial will be in Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pendleton Historical Society or Pendleton Little League.

Bernice I. Kildow

ALEXANDRIA -- Bernice I. Kildow, 91, Alexandria, died March 27, 2002, at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 5, 1910, in Alexandria, the daughter of George E. and Cora May Swindell Hover.

She was employed by Aladdin Corp. and Haynes-Stellite Co., both formerly of Alexandria. She was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church in Alexandria and the Alexandria Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include nieces, Linda Lewis and Karen Snyder of Alexandria; nephew, Eugene (Eileen) Scott of Alexandria; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Special caregivers in addition to her niece, Karen Snyder, were Pam Snyder, Greama Hague and Peggy Davison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Wooldridge "Woody" Kildow, in 1994; brothers, Arthur Hover, Jack Hover, Clifford Hover and Virgil Hover; and sister, Marie Scott.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, 412 N. Harrison St., Alexandria, with the Rev. Clifton Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Robert E. Metz

ELWOOD -- Robert E. Metz, 74, of Elwood, died March 27, 2002, at Dickey Nursing Home following an extended illness.

He was a surveyor for Madison County Deed and Abstract and retired in 1980.

Survivors include six children, Robert Metz, Michael Metz, Richard Metz, James Metz, Helen Compton and Anne Johnson; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Copher and Fesler Funeral Home with Sister Rosie Coughlin officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. military graveside rites will be conducted by the Elwood VFW post 5782.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Paul I. Morton

Paul I. Morton, 78, of Anderson, died March 27, 2002, at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, following an extended illness.

He was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Francisco in Gibson County, and was a resident of this area for 30 years. Prior to that he lived in Muncie.

He retired from Westinghouse in Muncie in 1985. He attended Anderson First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Muncie Masonic Lodge and the Anderson American Legion.

He served six years in the U.S. Navy and was trained as a pilot during World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Lyndal "Lyn" (Caudle) Morton; three daughters, Sharon and husband Larry Condon of Muncie, Janie and husband Mike Lucas of St. Louis, Mo., and Kay and husband Mickey Bivens of Anderson; two brothers, Harold Morton of Muncie and Jimmy Morton of New York; six grandchildren, Brian and wife Kathy Condon of Kokomo, Alan and wife Paula Condon of Indianapolis, Stephen Dull of St. Louis, Justin and wife JuLee Jenkins of Indianapolis, Mitch and wife Lori Bivens of Fort Wayne and Brad and wife Dawn Bivens of Indianapolis; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gettis and Ruth (Butrum) Morton.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 266.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Anderson First Church of the Nazarene.

Tonya J. Philbert

Tonya J. Philbert, 21, of Anderson, died unexpectedly March 25, 2002.

She was born Jan. 22, 1981 in Anderson and lived all of her life in Anderson. She had worked at Anderson University and for Edgewood Country Club.

She graduated from Indiana Christian Academy in 1999 and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include her parents, Chuck and Jamie Philbert of Anderson; stepfather, Scott Duckworth of Lompoc, Calif.; stepmother, Cathy Feeder of Anderson; sisters, Crystal Pherson of San Antonio, Texas, and Rosemary Elfrink of Anderson; paternal grandfather, Charles Philbert of Anderson; maternal grandfather, Samuel (wife, Loretta) Myers of Anderson; paternal great-grandmother, Roxie Philbert of Fort Myers, Fla.; maternal great-grandfather, Paul Overby of Alexandria; boyfriend, Joe Sessa of Anderson; aunts, Melissa (husband, Chuck) Anderson of Arlington, Texas, Amy Philbert of Anderson, Anita Kay (husband, Scott) Clark of Pierceton, Vickie (husband, Don) Halsell of Anderson, Sarretta Giovanni of Lompoc, Calif.; uncles, Steve (wife, Mu Yong) Philbert of Clarksville, Tenn., David (fiancee Sandy) Myers of Anderson, and Brian Philbert of Anderson; cousins, Ginger Good of Muncie, Scarlett Philbert of Anderson, and several other cousins.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Shirley Myers; paternal grandmother, Sharon Rae Grice; maternal great-grandmother, Uva Overby; paternal great-grandmother, Martha Blackwell; and paternal great-grandfather, Charles Philbert.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Dr. Leigh Crockett of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to The House of Hope or the D.A.R.E. Program.

George E. Sarah

YORKTOWN -- George Elias Sarah, 87, of Yorktown, died March 28, 2002, at the Waters of Muncie following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 21, 1915, to Joseph and Rejina (Beshara) Sarah in Muncie. He was a lifelong resident of Delaware County and veteran of the United States Army. He was employed with Ball State University for 15 years working in the Central Services Stores.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bessie M. (Hensley) Sarah; two daughters, Cindy Sarah Morgan and husband Clark Andrew Morgan of Albany, and Darlene Smith and husband Alan of Muncie; sister-in-law, Lois Sarah of Muncie; three grandchildren, James A. Smith and girlfriend Jessica Davis, Shelby Morgan and Christa Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David and Jesse Sarah; and two sisters, Mary Evans and Eva Walker-Bisel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gant Funeral Home, Yorktown Chapel. Burial will be in the Hawk Cemetery, north of Yorktown.

Friends may call one hour prior to services.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care Inc., 5320 S. Main St., New Castle, IN 47362, or Handicap for Mount Pleasant Church, in care of Darlene Smith, 9400 W. Lone Beech, Muncie, IN 47304.

Ruth P. Sigmon

Ruth P. (Plants) Sigmon, 79, of Anderson died March 27, 2002, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.

Born Dec. 14, 1922, in Medina, Ohio, she was the daughter of Raymond P. and Edna (Sheerlein) Plants.

She lived in Anderson most of her adult life and was a homemaker. She was a member of South Meridian Church of God, the Happy Family Home Extension Club, Women's Missionary Society and Church Women United.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in law, Judi and Al Lynch of Anderson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Merle and Clayton Shankland of Sun City, Ariz., and Erma Twinem of Westerville, Ohio; special cousins, Freida and Kenneth Silvers of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sigmon, whom she married July 7, 1951, in Medina, Ohio; her parents; and a sister, Betty Slater.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with the Rev. David Shultz of South Meridian Church of God officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Church of God Board of Missions.

Lula Mae Townsend

Lula Mae Townsend, 89, departed this life at St. John's Medical Center March 25, 2002, after an extended illness.

She was born Dec. 6, 1913 in Troy, Ala.

She confessed Christ at an early age and later connected with St. Mark Church of God In Christ and faithfully served more than 29 years. She was on the Mother's Board.

The family of Pastor Samuel and Pearline King dearly loved her.

Lula united in marriage to Fox Townsend June 15, 1936. To this union they had four children and three foster children. Lula was a housewife and devoted most of her life to raising her children and cared for many working parents' children.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Jewell (husband Glenn) Franklin of Tulsa, Okla., and Clara Mae Harris of Alabasta, Ala.; son, Eugene H. Townsend of South Florida; first grandson, Michael L. Gray, of 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Special thanks to Sister Annie Williams, Louise Estell, John and Emma Cain on the personal care they gave Lula while in the nursing home and hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fox Townsend; son, Bennie Townsend, and parents, Thomas and Paula Guthrie.

Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at L.C. May Funeral Services, 2024 Madison Ave.

Services will be at St. Mark Church Of God In Christ at 1 p.m. Monday. Pastor Samuel L. King Sr. will be officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Pleasant Walk Cemetery.

Lovina H. Wisehart

SHIRLEY -- Lovina H. Wisehart, 95, a resident of Shirley, died March 27, 2002, in Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.

She was born Jan. 24, 1907, in Indiana and was the daughter of Ernst E. and Elizabeth (Amstutz) Ehrsam.

She was a retired registered nurse at Marine Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a member of the Bible Holiness Church in New Castle.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph (wife Sue) Wisehart of Grays Lake, Ill.; and Robert (wife Grace) Wisehart of Knightstown; one daughter, Barbara Wood of Anderson; brother, Lawrence Ehrsam of Berne; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Harvey; second husband, Orville Wisehart, in 1975; four daughters, Lorene Mahoney, Ruth Hines, Martha Gerber and one at birth; and 16 brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Holiness Church of New Castle.
