Katherine “Kathy” Braasch
ARGOS — Katherine “Kathy” Braasch, 52, of Argos, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at 10:39 p.m.
at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 8, 1957 in Knox, to Vince and Geraldine (Puckett) Wittchen. She has lived in
Argos since 1992 coming from Monterey, Ind.
She married “Steve” R. Braasch Oct. 10, 1982 in Knox and volunteered at Walnut Church of the
Brethren “Chafia” Swap Shop.
She was a member of the Plymouth Baptist Church, Plymouth.
She is survived by her husband Steve; two sons: Stephen A. Braasch Jr. of Argos and Shane R.
Braasch of Lafayette; a daughter, Stephanie Braasch of Plymouth; his mother, Geraldine
Wittchen of Knox; four sisters: Pam (Michael) Green of Plymouth, Laura (John) Raczkowski of
Plymouth, Rhonda (Aubrey) Bolen of Louisiana and Juanita (Sam) Fugate of Rochester; three
brothers: Orben (Bo) Barnett of Knox, Douglas (Joanie) Miller of Michigan City and Paul Miller of
North Judson; and a maternal grandmother, Emma Lou Puckett of Knox.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, a brother and three sisters.
Friends may visit with the family Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman
Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Plymouth Baptist
Church, 11345 9A Rd, Plymouth, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Plymouth Baptist Church with Rev.
Doug Jividen of the Plymouth Baptist Church officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Plymouth Baptist Church, 11345 9A Rd, Plymouth,
IN, 46563 or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Northern Indiana Affiliate, 227 South Main Street,
Suite 101, South Bend, IN, 46601. .
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos.

David J. Dale
PLYMOUTH — David J. Dale, 54, of Plymouth, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at his home.
He is survived by his wife, Rande Anne Dale; a daughter, Ashley Dale of Florida; a son, Kelly
Dale of California; a step-daughter, Colleen N. Chrobak of Wisconsin; a step-son, Ry S. Klemp
of California; his mother, Dona R. Dale of Donaldson; and sisters: Cynthia R. Falica of Illinois
and Amy A. Severson-Smallcombe of Wisconsin.
The family asks that David be remembered at an open house Saturday, Nov. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m.
at the Lions Club depot/train station in Culver.
Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth, handled the arrangements.

Martha Dipert
WALKERTON — Martha “Marty” Dipert, 82, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 in St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Marty was born July 24, 1927 in Elwood, Ind. To David and Agnes (Hesting) Kerr and lived in the
area most of her life. She was a former ward secretary at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center,
Plymouth; she attended the Koontz Lake Missionary Church and was a former member of the
Walkerton OES.
Surviving are two daughters: Myrna Dipert of Walkerton and Janice (Robert) Morrison of
LaGrange, Ga.; three grandsons: Wayne, Jason and Jeremy Morrison, all of South Bend; one
great-granddaughter, Soren Sculati of South Bend; a sister, Norma Jahr of Walkerton; a brother,
Bruce (Roz) Kerr of Portage; a special niece, Linda Roush; and life-long friend, Twilo Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Dorothy Kerr, Rosabelle Roush and
Phyllis Gibson; and one brother, John Kerr.
Friends may call Thursday, Oct. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. EDT and Friday after 10 a.m. until the time
of services at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. (Eastern Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz
Lake Chapel with Pastor Brian Baughman officiating.
Burial will be at the Woodlawn cemetery, Walkerton.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Koontz Lake Missionary Church.

Harvey E. Miller
NAPPANEE — Harvey E. Miller, 95, of Nappanee, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at
home, after a brief illness.
He is survived by sons: Glenn Miller of Welston, Mich. And Paul Miller of Niles, Mich.; five
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Tobe Miller of Osceola.
Visitation took place after 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 and will take place all day Monday, Sept. 21
at the Ura Hochstetler residence, 7716 W. 1100 N. Nappanee.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the David Borkholder
residence, 783 Plymouth Goshen Trail, Nappanee.
Burial will follow at Borkholder cemetery.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

Eugene William (Gene) Riester
CULVER — Eugene William (Gene) Riester passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, Sept. 29, 2009.
Gene was born Oct. 24, 1921 to Robert and Augusta (Sue) Riester in Gary. Upon graduation
from Lew Wallace High School in Gary, in 1939, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy achieving the rank
of Seaman First Class and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack Dec. 7, 1941.
He was also active in the battles of Midway and the Coral Sea. After his discharge from the Navy
in 1946, Gene returned to Gary. He married his wife, Katherine Mihalik March 19, 1948 in Gary,
where he started his life-long career with NIPSCO, being transferred to Culver in 1961.
He retired from NIPSCO in 1983. In 1986 he joined the staff of the Town of Culver as the meter
reader for Culver’s water and sewer utilities, retiring in 2001 at the age of 80.
Gene was a member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the
Finney-Shilling VFW Post 6919. He was also a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors
Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in the Lions Club,
Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Katherine; and children: Barbara K. Riester of Culver, Sue A. “Suzi”
(Mark) Smyth of Alexandria, Va., Amy Jo Riester of Culver, Eugene W. “Bill” (Milinda Liedtky)
Riester, Jr. of Rensselaer, Margaret L. “Peggy” (Doug) Baumgarter of Loudon, Tenn., Jeffrey J.
Riester of Noblesville, and Tina M. Hissong of Mattoon, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and seven great
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Raymond Riester and one
grandchild, Jake Hissong.
A memorial service will be held at Odom Funeral Home, 104 E. Lakeshore Drive, Culver,
Sunday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. (EDT). The VFW Honor Guard will provide a veteran’s service
at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral mass is scheduled at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church, 124 College Avenue,
Culver, Monday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. (EDT) followed by a luncheon at the VFW, 108 E.
Washington St., Culver, provided by the Ladies Auxiliary.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude
Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, (800-805-5856) or to the Culver Lions Club, P.O. 330, Culver, IN, 46511.
The Odom Funeral Home, Culver, is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie Louise Welty

BREMEN — Marjorie Louise Welty, 87 of Bremen passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at the
home of her daughter. She was born Sept. 11, 1922 at her home in Bremen to Jacob and Cora
(Huff) Yockey.
On Aug. 5, 1944 she married Devon C. Welty. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1996.
Marjorie graduated from Bremen High School in 1940, was a farmer’s wife and retired from
Universal Bearings after 13 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bremen.
Survivors include two daughters: Gloria (Les) Graham of Bremen and Cheryl Welty of
Wakarusa; and one sister, Mildred Davis of Bremen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gregory Alan, two sisters, three brothers.
Friends may call Friday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the First Baptist Church
in Bremen.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the church and will be officiated by Pastor Ben
Hammond. Burial will follow at the Bremen cemetery.
Memorials contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Bremen.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janice Patterson
BREMEN — Janice Patterson, 64, of Bremen, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009 at Bremen Health
Care Center.
She is survived by sons: Richard (Lisa) Moren of Bremen, and William (Sarah) Patterson of
Bremen; daughters: Susan (Jason) Bass of Shelbyville and Deana Baker; four granddaughters;
and two brothers: Richard (Karen) Baker of Bremen and Dean Baker of LaPaz.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place Monday, Oct. 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Bremen cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Marshall County 4-H and Bremen High School Athletics.

Jean Graham
PLYMOUTH — Jean Graham, 67, of Plymouth, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009 at St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, following an illness.
She is survived by her spouse Paul E. Graham; sons: Randy R. Graham, Terry A. Graham,
Robert L. (Marie) Graham, and John Paul Graham, all of Plymouth; seven grandchildren; one
great-granddaughter; sisters: Clara Winters of Rochester, Wanda Heliene of Terre Haute and
Linda (Glenn) Anders of Plymouth; and brothers: Jack (Gloria) Cummins of Bourbon, Ray
Cummins of Mishawaka, Jim (Lorraine) Cummins of Plymouth and Steve (Carol) Cummins of
Etna Green.
Visitation will take place Monday, Oct. 5, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral
Home, 1100 N. Michigan St.
Funeral services will take place Monday at noon at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at New Oakhill cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Arthur “Junior” Hardy
SOUTH BEND — Arthur “Junior” Hardy, 83, of South Bend, formerly of Bremen, died Thursday,
Oct. 1, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
E is survived by his wife Dolores; three sons: Dennis Hardy of Lakeville, Matthew Hardy of
Seattle, Wash. And Michael (Karen) Mandino; daughters: Cheryl (Jim) Bellman of Bremen and
Vicki Maust of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place Monday, Oct. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 S.R.
331, Bremen.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary
Hinkle officiating.
Burial will take place at Bremen cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Terry Wayne Wiles
INDIANAPOLIS — Terry Wayne Wiles, 53, of Plymouth, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2009 at 1:58
p.m. at the Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife Linda; mother, Alafare Lucille Wiles Owens of Linn, Mo.; a son, Todd
Kenneth (Erica Helms) Wiles of Wheatfield; a daughter, Jessica Lynn (Craig Hartley) Wiles of
Cross Plains; two grandchildren; and three brothers: Charles Edward Wiles of Lawton, Okla.,
(twin) Gerry (Kim) Wiles of Peru, Ind. And Bruce (Lisa) Wiles of Peru.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, Oct. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home,
105 W. Third St., Peru.
A graveside service will take place with military honors Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 2 p.m. at
Greenlawn cemetery, Mexico, Ind.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Hulda R. Winterrowd
PLYMOUTH — Hulda R. Winterrowd, 89, of Plymouth, formerly of Rochester, died Friday, Oct.
2, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor.
She is survived by a daughter, Carol (David) Jensen of Plymouth; sons: Edward (Linda)
Hartmann of Florida, John (Karen) Oden of Plymouth and David Winterrowd of Indianapolis;
step-daughter Darlene Winterrowd of Plymouth; step-sons: Michael (Vicky) Winterrowd of
Lakeville and Dennis Winterrowd of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and
one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. at Citizens cemetery, Rochester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pamela J. Oswalt-Wendt
LAKEVILLE — Pamela J. Oswalt-Wendt, 53, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009 at University of
Chicago Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband, Jere Wendt; daughters: Regina Zimmerman of South Bend,
Jennifer Oswalt of Mishawaka, Julie Thompson of Niles, Amy (Michael) Andrews and Tosha
Oswalt, both of Lakeville, and Wendy Wendt of Winter Park, Fla.; son, Clark Wendt of Wabash;
12 grandchildren; mother, Wanda Adkins of Belle, W.Va.; and brother, Jerry (Kay) Adkins, Jr.
Of Dunlap.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528
Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, where friends may visit from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
